They cause the most inflammation, and they're the first ones, you know, if someone is developing some sort of food sensitivity, that's usually the place I like to start.   Autumn Bear  So when we're looking at disease, we're really trying to figure out, where did this, you know, dysbiosis or imbalance start, and how do we really treat the root so that all the branches of that tree essentially start to heal themselves as a result of treating the root.   Autumn Bear  Oftentimes, patients are saying, Listen, I'm having all these things. These are happening to me, and ultimately, what they're getting is doctors that are saying, Well, I think you just have anxiety, so I want to put you on Xanax and that's so it's just frustrating and debilitating.   ABOUT AUTUMN BEAR Bio : Autumn Bear M.S., L.AC, DIPL AC My formal training in classical Chinese medicine was transmitted directly to me by the esteemed Taoist master and 88th generation practitioner Jeffrey C. Yuen of the jade purity and dragon gate lineage. Nous sommes en 1905. La « Revue internationale de l'enseignement », éditée à Paris, a décidé de publier un article intitulé « Une université de jeunes filles ». L'article, signé monsieur Maurice Souriau, professeur à la Faculté des lettres des universités de Caen et de Poitiers, est en réalité le discours qu'il prononça ; l'année précédente lors de la remise des prix du collège. Le professeur plaide donc la création d'une université féminine, « avec des cours de décembre à Pâques, tous les matins de neuf à onze heures ». Il dit : « … La femme doit laisser à son mari le portefeuille des affaires étrangères et garder pour elle, avec un soin jaloux, le département de l'intérieur. Il faut donc que la future femme apprenne la science du ménage… Elle doit apprendre à faire ou à faire faire la cuisine, grave question, dont certains beaux messieurs se moquent en théorie mais qu'ils apprécient surabondamment en pratique. Elle doit connaître les lois de l''hygiène (…) qu'il y a par exemple deux façons de faire enlever la poussière, l'une qui entretient la santé des habitants d'une maison, l'autre qui la compromet. Surtout, la mère moderne doit avoir appris son métier de maman ». Voilà un projet bien conservateur qui va susciter quelques réactions ainsi une enseignante dans un lycée de jeunes filles écrit à la revue  pour soutenir l'initiative tandis qu'un autre dénonce le « rêve dangereux » du professeur Souriau. Et en effet, la marche des femmes vers les universités sera longue et semées d'embûches. L'imagination masculine, mais pas que, sera extrêmement fertile quand il s'agira de trouver les raisons de ne pas ouvrir les portes. Dr Joannie Marlene BEWA, MD, MPH is a physician, researcher, global advocate for girls, women and reproductive health. She has ten years of combined experience in global health, policy, clinical care, research, international development and non-profits management. She has been appointed in 2018 by the United Nations Secretary-General Special Envoy on Youth as a United Nations Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to support the UN system, governments and CSO efforts in implementing the SDGs. In 2016, she was featured on Melinda Gates’ list of six influential women on the topic of global access to contraception and was invited in 2017 by Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on a panel during which, he announced a 650 million dollars for women’s health globally. She is a member of the Global Advisory Board for Merck for Mothers, Merck's 10-year, $500 million initiative focused on improving the health and well-being of mothers before, during and after pregnancy and childbirth. She co-led the creation of the UNFPA Youth Panel in Benin in 2014 and joined in 2015 the advocacy for the creation of the Adolescent and Youth Constituency in the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, Children’s Health (PMNCH). She is the current observer, representing the Adolescent and Youth Constituency in the PMNCH Academic and Research Institutions Constituency. ​ She founded the Young Beninese Leaders Association (YBLA) in order to help solve some of the issues she was witnessing in Benin. Since 2010, YBLA is actively working in 3 focus areas: Health, Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship and Gender Equality. In 2011, YBLA collected over 2000 signatures which led to the adoption of the anti-gender-based violence law in Benin. YBLA reached more than 10 000 youth on reproductive health and HIV, and 3000 girls on leadership with the support of the First Lady Michelle Obama Young African Women Leaders Grant Program.    As part of Benin Government official delegation, Joannie attended to various negotiations at the United Nations Headquarters on Population, International Development and Health. Joannie is a Women Deliver Young Leader Alumni, a state department IVLP / YAL alumna and Secretary Clinton Women in Public Service Project Fellow. She collaborated with governments such as Benin, Canada, US, served as a technical consultant for the United Nations Fund for Population UNFPA Benin, One World UK, OXFAM, HIV Young Leaders Fund, and as an expert with the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service (UN NGLS), Merck for Mothers, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the "Safe Mothers and Newborns Leadership Workshop" led by the Harvard School of Public Health Maternal Health Task Force and the Barcelona ISG School of Global Health. ​ Joannie is a U.S Senator William J. Fulbright Scholar, who holds a doctorate degree in Medicine from Faculte des Sciences de la Sante, Universite d'Abomey Calavi (Benin Republic), a master degree in public health, specialized in Maternal and Child Health at the University of South Florida (U.S), where she is currently pursuing a PhD in public health, in order to solve health issues through an activist and scholar lens. She is a research assistant at the Florida Prevention Research Center (FPRC), a CDC supported research center and at the Lawton Rhea Chiles Center for Mothers and Babies (LRC), at the College of Public Health, University of South Florida, Tampa.

Dee Carter graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Science (Hons I) and undertook her PhD at Imperial College, London, where she worked on the plant pathogen Phytophtohora infestans, graduating in 1992. She then did an IMSERM postdoctoral fellowship in the Faculte de Medicine, Montpellier, France, and a NIHAID fellowship at Roche Molecular Systems, Alameda, California and the University of Berkeley, under the combined mentorship of Dr Thomas White and Professsor John Taylor. She has been at the University of Sydney since 1995.

Episode 59: L’architecture de la contre-révolution : L’armée française dans le nord de l’Algérie Dans ce Podcast, Dr. Samia Henni, historienne d’architecture au Département d’Architecture à Cornell Université présente son livre, L’Architecture de la contre-révolution : L’Armée française dans le nord de l’Algérie.   Elle examine l'intersection des politiques coloniales françaises et des opérations de contre-insurrection militaires en architecture en Algérie pendant la révolution algérienne (1954-1962). Au cours de ce conflit armé sanglant et prolongé, les autorités civiles et militaires françaises ont profondément réorganisé le vaste territoire urbain et rural de l'Algérie, transformé radicalement son environnement bâti, implanté rapidement de nouvelles infrastructures et construit de nouvelles implantations stratégiques afin de maintenir l'Algérie sous domination française. Le régime colonial avait conçu et mené à bien non seulement des destructions tactiques, mais aussi de nouvelles constructions afin de permettre un contrôle strict de la population algérienne et la protection des communautés européennes algériennes.  Cette étude porte sur trois mesures contre-révolutionnaires spatiales interdépendantes : la réinstallation forcée massive d'agriculteurs algériens ; les programmes de logements de masse conçus pour la population algérienne dans le cadre du Plan de Constantine du général Charles de Gaulle ; et la nouvelle ville administrative fortifiée prévue pour la protection des autorités françaises au cours des derniers mois de la révolution algérienne. L'objectif est de décrire le mode opératoire de ces établissements, leurs racines, leurs développements, leurs champs d'action, leurs acteurs, leurs protocoles, leurs impacts et leurs mécanismes de conception.
