This week brought emotional farewells and new beginnings, as Disney fans witnessed the closure of Muppet One Last Look at Muppet Courtyard (Grand Avenue) and Muppet Vision 3D Before It Closes ForeverVision 3D and saw fresh concept art for both coasts. As part of the WDW Weekly Update, here's what unfolded. Muppet*Vision 3D Officially Closes. It's official: MuppetVision 3D* has closed its doors at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Sam and Greg take a final stroll through the attraction, sharing behind-the-scenes views and paying tribute to the classic. Alongside video highlights and personal memories, we break down the Top 10 Quotes from Muppet*Vision 3D—including Fozzie's “banana cream pie”, Sam Eagle's patriotic finale, and Statler and Waldorf's relentless heckling. Fans of Jim Henson's legacy won't want to miss this nostalgic send-off. New Courtyard Concept Art Debuts With the attraction officially closed, new concept art has appeared on the construction walls surrounding the former Muppet Vision area. The updated visuals reflect a slight tweak in the Monsters Inc. Land. Compared to previous art shared at D23, this version shows a tweaked courtyard layout. The coaster show building remains part of the vision, but its placement is deeper into the backlot, creating breathing room between adjacent structures. Though Disney renamed the area Grand Avenue, it remains Muppet Courtyard in the hearts of fans. These changes mark a complete transformation of the area, setting the stage for something new while bringing to a close a legacy location. Disneyland Concept Art Expands the Story Over at Disneyland Resort, new concept art is adding layers to the park's 70th anniversary narrative. Updates to the entrance plaza include widened paths, revised landscaping, and what appears to be preparation for future infrastructure changes. However, the primary concern remains the Avatar experience. New visuals indicate how it might integrate into Disneyland's footprint, fueling speculation over land use and attraction placement. Additional Park Highlights Back at Magic Kingdom, The Emporium is fully restocked, and VIPassholder character meet and greets are in full swing. The Hall of Presidents has reopened its lobby with updated historical exhibits. Meanwhile, both Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle Riverboat are set to close in July, giving guests one last chance to experience these peaceful Magic Kingdom staples. At Epcot, Test Track walls are down and testing is underway. The UK pavilion's pianist now performs at the Odyssey, and Annual Passholders are meeting Dopey thanks to new AP-exclusive offerings. The landscape of Walt Disney World is shifting dramatically, with major transformations coming to every park. From Dinoland USA becoming a vibrant Central Americas-themed land featuring Encanto and Indiana Jones, to Tom Sawyer Island making way for a Cars attraction, these changes represent Disney's evolving approach to park experiences. We dive deep into what these transformations mean for the Disney experience, exploring the tension between nostalgic attractions and Disney's push toward more recognizable intellectual properties. The upcoming Villains Land behind Big Thunder Mountain promises thrilling new experiences without replacing existing attractions, while Hollywood Studios will soon feature a Monsters Inc land with an innovative suspended coaster based on the door conveyor system from the beloved film. These changes raise important questions: Is Disney losing some of its original magic by replacing unique Imagineering creations with movie tie-ins? Or is this evolution necessary to compete with Universal's Epic Universe and appeal to younger generations? We consider whether the Disney experience has improved or declined since 2019, discussing the loss of beloved perks like Magical Express and free FastPass while acknowledging the exciting new attractions on the horizon. We also share our upcoming plans to test the new Multi-Pass system during our next trip, estimating we'll spend around $500 extra for our family of four to access all premium ride options. Will the convenience justify the cost? Is the Free Dining package actually saving money when factoring in required add-ons like Park Hopper tickets? These practical considerations reflect the changing economics of a Disney vacation in today's landscape.Whether you're a Disney purist concerned about these changes or excited to experience the new attractions, this episode provides thoughtful perspective on what Walt Disney World's transformation means for different types of visitors. Kim recently took her two girls to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando for a mother-daughter getaway. Hear more about her trip, learn some strategies for using Lightning Lane, new rides, new theme parks coming, and comparisons between the parks. It was hot, humid, and rainy in the afternoons, but they still had a fun time exploring all the parks. Luckily, Universal Orlando has more indoor rides that help on rainy days. Updates from Walt Disney World Tron in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom - it is like riding a motorcycle but on a roller coaster track. The ride is fabulous but really short. Splash Mountain is now Tiana's Bayou Adventure - this is a two-by-two flume-like ride that has been redesigned. Disney now has Lightning Lane Multi Experience and Lightning Lane Single Experience. With the Multi Experience, it works on multiple rides and as soon as you tap into one ride, you can request the next Lightning Lane. You want to purchase and prebook your first ride in advance. Single Experience is where you can buy a Lightning Lane time slot for individual rides like Tron or Rise of the Resistance. Disney's Lightning Lane experience is better than Universal's Express Pass because they load people from that lane faster. Disney has also changed their rules around their Disability Access service and made it much harder to obtain a pass. Keep this in mind if you have children with special needs and have used that service in the past. Tip: If you want to stay at one of the Deluxe hotels on property, you can stay by renting Disney Vacation Club points. (Riviera has Skyliner access) See Kim's article on renting and using DVC points. Disney is building a new ride in the Avengers Campus and they are getting rid of the Tom Sawyer Island and Riverboat in Magic Kingdom to create Cars Land. Updates from Universal Orlando Note: Universal Orlando hosted Kim's family for this part of the trip. Kim stayed at the Loews Sapphire Falls, which is a Moderate property and does not include the Express Passes. The Sapphire Falls is within walking distance to the parks and guests get one hour early entry. Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure still has very long lines. The nice thing about the Universal Express Passes don't require you to book any times online, so it is less stressful to manage. However, many people have these passes because they are staying at the premium hotels and the lanes load slowly so sometimes you don't save a lot of time (sometimes only about 10 minutes of time savings). There is a Universal Express Unlimited Pass that lets you ride a ride in the Express pass lane as much as you would like, without limits. Universal Orlando is building a whole new theme park in 2025 called Epic Universe. It is going to be further away from CityWalk and the other parks or hotels. It will also have another portion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic. There will also be two premium hotels and a How to Train Your Dragon land.   Other Episodes You May Enjoy Disney Vacation Club tips Choosing a Disney World hotel Walt Disney World tips Universal Orlando's Volcano Bay Universal Orlando insider tips

And crying over Walt. Then, we take a long look at Walt Disney World, from the expected updates (Indiana Jones... confirmed! Encanto... confirmed!) and the surprises (Monsters Inc?! Cars?!) to the delights (new nighttime parade), and of course... the villains. Also, how we all feel about losing Tom Sawyer Island as well as DinoLand, what Disney did right and what they may have missed during the weekend, and Jenn's super joy about losing the Bugs.
