Aflevering 93 staat voor je klaar waarin we uitgebreid het jaar 1993 bespreken, het over de nieuwe Quantumania trailer gaan hebben, Nicholas Cage met Face/Off 2 de revue passeert en we het hebben over de mogelijke komst van een Captain Planet film. First things first: 1993. Want ook dit was weer een jaar vol film classics. Zo hebben we het vandaag de dag nog geregeld over de originele Jurassic Park van Steven Spielberg, maar ook over Sylvester Stallone toppers zoals Demolition Man en Cliffhanger. Ook was dit het jaar van Bill Murray's Groundhog Day, Schindler's List, Free Willie, Cool Runnings en nog heel veel meer. Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania Dan was daar deze week ook de nieuwe Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer. Deze trailer geeft volgens ons helaas net iets teveel weg van het verhaal, waarbij de eerste trailer wat stijlvoller en mysterieuzer was opgezet. We nemen de look van Jonathan Major's Kang the Konqueror onder de loep en checken ook de eerste beelden van Darren Cross als MODOK. Gaat Quantumania de hooggespannen verwachtingen waarmaken? Gaat Ant-Man het overleven? We bespreken het allemaal. Nicholas Cage is at it again in Renfield Er gaat natuurlijk geen week voorbij zonder dat we het over Nicholas Cage hebben. De man is een National Treasure *wink wink*. Deze week onthulde hij de eerste details van de sequel op het legendarische Face/Off uit 1997. Daarnaast was daar ook de trailer van Renfield. Een horror/komedie waarin Cage in de huid kruipt van niemand minder dan Dracula. We krijgen mogelijk een Captain Planet film Last but not least werkt Glenn Powell, onder andere bekend van Top Gun Maverick, aan een Captain Planet film. De acteur / schrijver werkt samen met Leonardo DiCaprio's productiehuis om dit van de grond te krijgen. Powell's insteek is een wat meer duistere en serieuzere take op kleurrijke superheld met zijn Planeteers. Het is natuurlijk niet geheel verrassend gezien het feit dat Leonardo DiCaprio een groot voorstander klimaatactivisme en wat natuurlijk diep in de roots zit van de tekenfilmserie Captain Planet zelf. If you have ever wondered if there are laws protecting wildlife, livestock, or even your pets, this is the podcast for you. We talk about the work Camille did with Animal Justice to “Free Willie” and what they are working on now. They both talk to us about transportation laws, fur farming, Ag Gag laws, adopting animals and so much more. Camille Labchuk is an animal rights lawyer and executive director of Animal Justice—Canada’s only animal law advocacy organization. Under her leadership, Animal Justice fights legal cases in courtrooms across the country, works to pass groundbreaking new laws, and ensures industries are held accountable for illegal animal cruelty. Camille has litigated to advance animals’ legal interests at all levels of court, including before the Supreme Court of Canada. She regularly testifies before legislative committees, and was instrumental in passing a precedent-setting national ban on whale and dolphin captivity in 2019. She has filed false advertising complaints against companies making misleading humane claims; documented Canada’s commercial seal slaughter; and exposed hidden suffering behind the closed doors of farms and zoos through undercover investigations. Camille also regularly defends and protects the rights of animal advocates. Camille is a frequent lecturer on animal law, co-host of the Paw & Order podcast, and a regular contributor to national publications like the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star. Jessica Scott-Reid is a journalist and animal advocate. She covers animal and vegan topics for media across Canada and beyond, including The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Winnipeg Free Press, Sentient Media, Planet Friendly News, and Tenderly Magazine.
