We discuss his book From What is to What if and the premise that drives it and how he found himself moving from teaching Permaculture to founding a global movement now spanning over 1,200 towns. This is inspiring stuff and speaks deeply firstly to the dire global situation we find ourselves in and importantly acts as a call to arms for us all to feel empowered to do something about it. Daily Life in Late Second Temple Israel – David Fiensy pt 4   (https://kcrpodcast.com/episode-428-far-can-david-fiensy-interview-pt-1/screen-shot-2019-01-07-at-9-49-47-am/) Today, I have the blessing of talking with someone who is an expert when it comes to Biblical antiquities. For over 30 years, David Fiensy has been teaching Biblical studies and participating in numerous archaeological excavations and has a lot to share about ancient Palestine during the Roman occupation era in that area. He has written twelve academia books during the last 30 years. Now “semi-retired,” he has authored his first work of fiction, a novel titled “As Far As You Can.”  The setting is in Palestine about AD66 at the outbreak of the war against Rome.  We discussed that book in his last interview. You can hear all about that book if you go back into our archives and listen to episodes 428 and 429.What about family life in general?  Marriage, spousal responsibilities, etc?ow, today we are blessed to have some of the best medical care that mankind has ever known. We discussed some of the diseases in ancient Israel, in the days of Jesus. Tell us about some of medical care that was available in the days of Jesus? That makes sense when you think about the woman with the issue of blood and how she spent all her living and nothing worked. What was the average life expectancy in that time? From birth: age 20 After age 20: Men 37 Women: 34 Some lived longer, some not so much. If someone did die, what were funerals like? Infant funerals – not so much of a big deal. When I was growing up, I seen estimates that about 70% of Americans were in church on Sunday. And you could see it. Even small churches had their parking lots packed out. Today, I seen on estimate that less than 20% of Americans go to church anymore.  What was it like in the days of Jesus as far as religious responsibilities go? If someone “missed” going to the synagogue, was that a major deal? David, when do you think we will be able to get a copy of this book? Will you come back on the program when your book is published and update us? If someone wanted to get in touch with you, to ask a question or possibly do an interview such as this, how can they do that?  How can someone get in touch with you? Folks, we are about out of time for today. I want to recommend David Fiensy’s book that we have been discussing to you. It sounds absolutely fascinating. I know it will give you a deeper perspective and appreciation of the scriptures. You will need to add his book, “Archeology of Daily Life in Late Second Temple Israel” to your reading collection. Use it as a reference as you do your Bible Studies. It will add clarity like you probably have never seen or understood before. Common teachings you’ve heard for years will suddenly make a lot more sense. Just click the link below to order your copy today. Before we go, I want to make everyone aware of a new feature that I’ve added to our podcast ministry. For the last several years, I’ve assisted many Christians, both in ministry and out, in advice and ideas on how to either start a podcast or improve an existing podcast. I’ve recently started a program called, “ASK BOB.”  It allows you to send me your podcasting questions directly. Anything about podcasting that you want to ask. From “What is a podcast?” to “How do I monetize a podcast?” and anything in between. If I use your question on the “ASK BOB” program, I have a special gift for you. I’m not going to go into detail here because we are all out of time. But go to www.kcrpodcast.com (http://www.kcrpodcast.com/) and click the “Podcast Training” link at the top or just click the “Podcast Training” link in the show notes. That is all the time we have for today. David, I want to thank you one more time for taking the time out of your schedule to come on and visit with us for a few minutes and discuss your new book,

EXPLICIT MATERIAL POSSIBLE In Part 1 of this Two Part episode, Alex has Brian Folan (artist/musician out of Providence, RI) on the show to discuss Dark Energy. This episode is part of the "Opinion Panel" where Alex brings people who are interested in space and science to come on and give their opinion. The idea is to get people who aren't involved in science to "ask questions" and talk about Space. This is the first try. Enjoy! From "What is Dark Energy?", to "How do we know there is Dark Energy?", Alex and Brian sit down and talk about this crazy mystery that is supposed to make up 68% of the Universe. Rogan, who has just resigned his job to be at Aotea Square full-time, having been part of the Occupy Auckland organizing team from the start and Simon, an activist at heart has also just taken extended leave from his job at a union to help out.Two very articulate occupiers share what is playing out within the Occupy Auckland encampment and what their aspirations are. From: What are occupiers unifying around? What is the greatest challenge? Where they get their support from? What do they want to see happen? Bringing in food, sharing ... How NZ can play its part in the transformation of the old paradigm into a conscious caring cohesive, synergistic, society? Another big question: When their time is up at Aotea Square, are they going to decamp in agreement and peacefully or are the authorities going to have to push the issue?New Zealanders are very complacent and have had it exceptionally easy in the global scheme of things, with good Government safety nets, welfare, no food shortages, no war etc.Yet, with $300 million weekly in overseas loans keeping us docile, we are now passing the 18 billion dollar threshold in just over 2 and a half years of loans and from unknown entities overseas, so the NZ Government is certainly leaving the younger generation a huge amount of debt … how should New Zealanders react to this?Especially as debt is one of the greatest issues. There are many things thing effecting the hearts and minds of everyone these days.http://www.occupyauckland.org
