We’re taking this week off! But don’t worry, we’ll be back with new episodes starting September 10th. In the meantime, we’re sharing some of our favorite interviews from the year so far. This week, Oz talks with journalist Ben Taub about Russia’s ice-cold testing ground for new espionage tech. Ben Taub is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist and staff writer at The New Yorker. His piece, “Russia’s Espionage War in the Arctic,” covers tensions at the Russian border with Norway, an area Russia uses as a testing ground for future intelligence operations. Taub sits down with Oz to discuss the technology being used for survival and for espionage, as the war in Ukraine has escalated tensions.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
So this episode is about a kid who is bad at hockey and his dad who tries to... do I have to say unalive himself if I don't want to be punished by the algorithm?Anyway the patient and his family are sympathetic but between Kutner and Taub having the most half-hearted debate of all time, Thirteen and Foreman starting a relationship with surprisingly little chemistry given how hot they each are, and House dealing with some unrelated leaky pipes this isn't an all-star House but as always the House of House episode about the episode is worth listening to!Oh, also Cuddy needs to get her house ready before the adoption inspector comes over! We're in sitcom land folks, so buckle up and enjoy.

Ahead of the holiday of Tisha B'Av, we bring you this special What Matters Now podcast: Welcome to What Matters Now, a weekly podcast exploring key issues currently shaping Israel and the Jewish World, with host Amanda Borschel-Dan speaking with author Daniel Taub. Taub is an Israeli diplomat, international lawyer and author born in Britain in 1962. He moved to Israel in 1989, later serving in the IDF as a combat medic and as a reserve officer in the international law division. He started his path in diplomacy in the Israeli Foreign Ministry in 1991 where he held many legal and diplomatic posts, including as Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2011 to 2015. In his new book, "Beyond Dispute: Rediscovering the Jewish Art of Constructive Disagreement," Taub synthesizes his years spent at negotiating tables as a diplomat with his lifelong learning of Talmud. Drawing on techniques from both spheres, Taub argues that disagreement can be even more constructive than easy consensus -- and is necessary for treaties to last. We begin the program speaking about the Tisha B'Av holiday marked this weekend and how Israeli society today -- specifically, the painful ongoing debate over universal draft -- is coming close to the senseless hatred that tradition ascribes as a reason for the fall of the Temples. We then hear how one must pick a ripe time for negotiations, and how Taub's experiences on negotiation teams with Palestinians and Syrians make him think that Israelis, at the very least, are not ready to discuss a practical peace -- yet. And so this week, we ask Daniel Taub, what matters now. What Matters Now podcasts are available for download on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts. In this profound episode of Parallax, Dr Ankur Kalra welcomes Dr Pam Taub, Professor of Medicine and Director of Preventive Cardiology at UC San Diego, for an enlightening conversation about integrating spirituality, purpose, and scientific curiosity in cardiovascular practice. Dr Taub shares her unique philosophical foundation, shaped by exposure to diverse religions in South India. This experience fostered her belief that all faiths fundamentally center on being a good person and serving others. She explores how this spiritual perspective transforms medicine from a profession into a sacred calling, where patient interactions become profound privileges that fuel her desire to make meaningful impact beyond individual achievements. The episode highlights Dr Taub's groundbreaking work with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), demonstrating how scientific curiosity serves as a spiritual path. Her research journey—from recognizing misdiagnosed conditions to conducting the first clinical trial for ivabradine in POTS—exemplifies how deeper questioning and evidence-based inquiry can transform patient lives on a broader scale. The episode also explores Dr Taub's research on time-restricted eating, connecting modern scientific evidence to fasting practices across many faiths. Today on Mea Culpa, I'm joined by Jennifer Taub, a legal scholar, advocate, author of “Big Dirty Money”, and expert witness before Congress on banking law. As the Trump administration moves to defund universities over campus protests, defies Supreme Court orders, and escalates support for mass deportations, Taub breaks down the growing abuse of executive power. We explore how Trump is weaponizing federal agencies to silence dissent, override judicial authority, and punish political opponents. With due process hanging by a thread and civil liberties under attack, we examine how to protect ourselves, and the nation, from the rise of authoritarianism. In the poetry collection Prayers of a Heretic (Plain View Press, 2015), Yermiyahu Ahron Taub explores the "crime" of heresy and the condition of existential displacement through the language of prayer and prayerful voice/s. In the first section, "Visits and Visitations," the poet imagines a variety of protagonists in situations of supplication. The second section, "In the Gleaning," examines the life, transgressions, and prayers of the title character and the primacy of books, libraries, and reading for refuge and reconfiguration. Eschewing a secular/religious divide, the book offers an expansive interpretation of the enduring power of prayer. Four poems also have a Yiddish version. You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy the Passover holiday. In this remarkable conversation, Savage speaks with Rabbi Shais Taub about the meaning of Passover to all people. They reflect on the impact of intergenerational stories and parenting moments on shaping individuals. They discuss the relevance of ancient history and the ongoing geopolitical conflicts, drawing parallels between the human condition and the story of the Jews' enslavement in Egypt. Both encourage recognizing the personal relevance of Passover and the need for humility and reliance on a higher power for redemption. Rabbi Taub emphasizes that these events are not ancient history, but current events, as they continue to impact the lives of Jews, Christians, and others. Savage explains that those attending the Passover Seder may be enslaved to various forms of personal bondage and need to recognize and break free from these chains to truly experience liberation. They emphasize that Passover is not just about commemorating historical events or consuming traditional foods, but about understanding and releasing oneself from modern-day slavery.
