Then I discuss the real-world example of a particular PMC, Keenie Meenie Services. I discuss their formation in places like Yemen, Angola, and Northern Ireland and their ongoing presence in places like Oman, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nicaragua, El Salvador, etc. episode artwork by Vyssotsky (@cuss_otaku) Songs: Too Hot For My Chinchilla by Tangerine Dream The Dream Is Always the Same by Tangerine Dream Tear Down the Grey Skies by Tangerine Dream Forbidden Colours by Ryuichi Sakamoto
Kathryn Hunter is a daughter, a sibling, a wife, and the proprietor of both Voodoo Hippie Girl's Free Spirited Threads and Wasted Land Apparel. She's a dye artist/designer, a brilliant mind, a lover of books and music, and she's my guest for Episode No. 118.Meeting Kathryn was a treat and sitting down with her to talk family, upbringing, and her passions was both enlightening and entertaining. And it wouldn't be an installment of Badass Records if we didn't examine a few of her favorite records. Those were these:Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light (2012), Woods of YpresMr. Blotto's Thread (2013)Blue Mountain (2016), Bob WeirStarset's Divisions (2019)Please consider giving Kathryn a follow on Instagram for one or both of her outfits, and definitely consider giving that Bob Weir record a spin if you aren't already familiar with it. Thank you to Kathryn and thank you to all who support the show.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the audio samples contained within this episode. They are clips from a tune called, "Reba," which I lifted from the 1990 Phish album, Lawn Boy (c/o of Phish Inc.). It's historically been something of a polarizing track, but one detail remains undebatable, and that is this: Phish is the greatest rock band in American music history, and this release -- their sophomore effort -- is, without question, a badass record.
Starting the week in South Dakota we meet Jaded Theories from Marion South Dakota. Songs include It's Not Too Late, Grey Skies, 3rd Party World War and Dead Road

It's Robert Cooper hosting tonight folks! And tonight he is going to be talking one of his favorite doom metal albums, Woods Of Ypres "Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light." Mark takes the night off, however, Coop won't go it alone as he picks up a wandering MHOD faithful along the side of the road... Jesse Starcher. Join us as we talk, religion, spirituality, death, and other topics (that last part is guaranteed).Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light is the fourth studio album as well as the fifth and final studio release from Woods of Ypres, released two months after the death of multi-instrumentalist and frontman David Gold. Jace chats with creator Chris Ryall about the return of a property Chris created with artist Ben Templesmith back in 2009, Groom Lake. A humorous, dark & weirdly relevant story about UFO's, conspiracies and aliens. Chris talks about why this was the right time to bring this back. He also discusses bringing on artist Nelson Daniel, with Templesmith being unavailable, Nelson unique blend of humor & darkness were a natural fit. There are tons of tiers with a great variety of rewards including original art, glow-in-the-dark pins, the original Groom Lake graphic novel and so much more.
