The Plant Paradox by Dr. Steven R. Gundry reveals that gluten is just one variety of a common, and highly toxic, plant-based protein called lectin. Lectins are found not only in grains like wheat but also in the “gluten-free” foods most of us commonly regard as healthy, including many fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, and conventional dairy products. These proteins, which are found in the seeds, grains, skins, rinds, and leaves of plants, are designed by nature to protect them from predators (including humans). Dr. Steve successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with a protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body. Now, in The Plant Paradox, he shares this clinically proven program with readers around the world. Today's episode is the last installment of a three-part series on a health topic that's highly relevant and necessary in today's culture and generation. We've talked long and hard about why obesity is a ticking time bomb, ready to explode anytime. We continue the discussion by talking about how obesity may also be a risk factor for several diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, gallstones, and other chronic illnesses other than cosmetic conditions. So, being mindful of every food and drink intake will really be helpful to prevent obesity and to these equivalent chronic illnesses as well. There are a variety of ways on how to reduce your weight and how to manage obesity, but people have their own preferences and methods in doing so. Since each of us has different bodily conditions, some people choose to do a paleo diet, some do the Mediterranean diet, and others do intermittent fasting or ketogenic diet. The reason behind this is they consider their target to be reducing gluten. The Plant Paradox is a book recommendation that could greatly help you in choosing which diet fits you the best. Listen as Dr. Jette Gabiola, together with the two guests, Dr. Drew Verellino and Nicole Zamignani continued to elaborate the discussion about the diets recommended for healthy weight loss, specifically diets that can manage obesity. To have an idea about which diet is best for you, what to focus on, better understand how these diets work, and have a more comprehensive understanding of obesity as a fatal health condition, not just a simple social stigma, come and listen to this episode, as well as parts 1 and 2.Memorable Quotes:Be mindful of what we put in our mouth, be mindful of the social interaction that we have, and be mindful of what good food can bring to us. - Dr. Jette GabiolaFood is something very sacred because it allows us to experience life and it stimulates so many different senses: from sight, the smell, the taste, the touch, and the emotional connection with the people you're around. - Dr. Drew VercellinoChoose what diet is for you and not be so strict or hard on yourself. Want to live longer? Us too. Steven Gundry, M.D., is here to tell us how to do just that. As a heart surgeon and best-selling author, and author of the new book The Longevity Paradox: How to Die Young at a Ripe Old Age, Dr. Gundry is doing what it takes to live a long, healthy life. When he was on the mbg podcast last February, he talked about avoiding lectins, grains, and sugar—all tentpoles to his New York Times best-selling book The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in “Healthy Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain. Now, he’s back with even more insight on bettering our health and debunking the many myths of longevity. At the core of our conversation is the microbiome. In his practice in California, Dr. Gundry has been seeing what he calls “superolds” or people living beyond 100 years old. He’s found the common denominator in these individuals is a diverse, healthy microbiome. “It’s actually the microbiome, and its interface with the wall of your gut that will determine what happens to you,” Dr. Gundry shared. While it may seem genetics determine our health and longevity, he pointed out that our genome only plays about 6 percent into what’s going to happen to us and about 94 percent is related to our lifestyle: the food we eat and the people we’re surrounded by. In simple terms, it means we can do something to change the trajectory of our health. On his list for how to live to 100 and beyond is getting enough Vitamin D. “People with the highest vitamin D levels have the longest telomeres,” he explained. These DNA-protein structures protect our chromosomes and the longest ones are the most telling of our longevity. Unfortunately, there’s a high chance you’re not getting enough as 80 percent of Southern Californians are Vitamin D deficient (that says a lot). Dr. Gundry pointed out that it can take 40,000 IU a day of Vitamin D to raise someone’s Vitamin D levels, which he says is vital to our health. This episode will leave you with more knowledge about what’s going on in your gut and inspire you to make changes that could add years on your life. In today's episode of The Art of Passive Income, Mark and Scott talk with Rocky Lalvani Founder of RicherSoul.com—helping people create fulfilling and meaningful lives by taking money out of the equation so they can live richer lives and live their dreams without regrets or debt. Rocky always had the mindset to save money. At a young age his goal was to be a millionaire, so he set up an automated savings plan that would get him there. Coming from the corporate medical world, he was shocked to learn that so many professionals lived at or beyond their means at a 6 figure income, they had no savings to show for it. Join us as Rocky shares how he helps his clients get to the core of their purpose by being intentional and thinking forward. Having a purpose gives you meaning and it gives you something to work towards. And while money is not the destination, having that direction to their deeper purpose, people are more apt to make smarter money decisions. Rocky helps his clients eliminate wasteful spending by creating a financial balance sheet and a statement of cash flow and teaches them to run their life as a business. Rocky also explains why these three components are imperative in creating a richer soul: Health Relationships Spirituality Are you ready to get to your core purpose to start living a more meaningful life? It's safe to say that Dr. Steven Gundry knows a thing or two about cardiac health—he has dedicated his entire life to helping patients make their hearts healthier, after all. Before shifting his career to focus on food-based interventions, Dr. Gundry was a world-renowned cardiac surgeon. And now, he's on a mission to get people to eat more plants, less grains and sugar, and eat the right type of chocolate with his new book, The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain. Gundry is particularly focused on helping people avoid lectins, carbohydrate-binding proteins thought to lead to inflammation and disease. He believes people can do this by eating more plants, less grains (yes, corn counts!), and less red meat—with the occasional square of dark chocolate thrown in there. In this podcast episode, Gundry opens up about the strong correlation between what we eat, weight gain, and disease. He discusses the real impact of grains on the human body (it's not pretty), which alcohols we should be drinking (go ahead, drink more mezcal!), and why eating super-dark chocolate every day is amazing for the body. He also gets real about just how bad sugar is for us, why not everyone should be cooking with coconut oil regularly, and why green bananas are a whole lot better for you than yellow ones. Whether you're all about eating plant-based or you're just dipping your toes into the world of more plants and less sugar, you won't want to miss Dr. Gundry's fascinating research and unique opinions on how certain foods affect our bodies and longevity overall. Since Mel was the special guest on a recent “Let’s Eat,” BookIt had to follow suit. Mel and Lisa start out the podcast by touching briefly on the final in our series of three balance workouts. It is nearly ready for release, so be looking for it very soon. Then, they talk about two books they have both read, and they discuss how to get the most out of books you read, even if you don’t agree with everything in them. The books they discussed are: The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life, One Night at a Time by Arianna Huffington and The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain by Dr Steven R. Gundry. Both books contain a wealth of information, and are available in digital and audio formats. Feeling exhausted? Icky? Gaining inexplicable weight? Maybe there’s a mineral imbalance. In today’s podcast episode, Wendy Myers talks about minerals and mineral hair analysis. How to detox the metals in the body and how to begin the mineral restoration process. Tune in for her supplement recommendations and some very interesting information about the water we are showering ourselves in daily! The 101 on Minerals Most people are mineral deficient in magnesium, zinc and selenium. If you’re taking a multivitamin, it may not be enough or the right form to be absorbed into the body. Even organic food is mineral deficient. The soil and pesticides are killing the minerals in our food. Stressors, emotional, nutrition, EMF contribute to nutrient deficiencies. When we think about our supplements we really need to focus on minerals because they power our body. How do we figure out what minerals we’re missing? #1 Start taking magnesium. Will most likely need to take it separately from a multivitamin. Wendy goes over which types of magnesium we need. Avoid magnesium oxide…it’s garbage! It has about a 4% absorption rate. We need about 5 times our body weight in pounds, in milligrams. If you way 200 lbs. you need 1,000 mg of magnesium. A multi-mineral is great. Oceans Alive Marine Phytoplankton is what Wendy takes because it has a good absorption rate and has amino acids, omega 3 fats and 180 nutrients in addition to all the minerals. Iodine and selenium are big deficiencies. Iodine being the 2nd most common deficiency. And selenium is much needed to support the thyroid. Mercury toxicity is one of the main reasons for low thyroid function. We actually need both iodine and selenium for proper thyroid function. What Contributes to Mercury Toxicity? Coal burning. The fossil fuel burning to keep our lights on, releases mercury into the air. The toxic air settles into the ocean and gets into our food. Mercury is also in the air because of burning bodies in crematoriums. Mercury amalgam fillings, get them out of your mouth! How can we detox some of the bad minerals out of our body? You have to know your source. Test your water for metals. All the water in California has uranium. Get a water filter. People are drinking filtered water, but they don’t think about what they’re showering in. Iron toxicity is a big problem. Refined flours are enriched with iron. Carbs, white breads, can promote high sugar levels and diabetes, and interfere with pancreatic function. Minerals also detox metals. Minerals help the body function better, but some minerals will help pushout metals from the body. Zinc helps to detox aluminum, cadmium, copper and mercury and nickel. Selenium helps to detox arsenic, cadmium and mercury and silver. Magnesium is amazing to detox many metals. This is why she calls her program Mineral Power. We need a highly absorbable nutrient. It doesn’t matter what we take, it matters what we absorb. What is hair mineral analysis? Wendy likes to start with a hair mineral analysis because it gives her a good idea of stress levels, adrenal functioning, thyroid function, and mineral levels in the body. This will give her most of the information she needs to individualize a mineral detox program. Also likes to do a urine and stool test. What can be expected from a mineral program and detox? She first recommends a couple of products for detoxing. Will then recommend best products for each patient based on their health history and metals in their body. Will retest in about 6 months. Course correct and adjust based on new results. Also likes to do infrared saunas, and coffee enemas have helped Wendy in how she feels. Lots of ideas on her website on Loving Your Liver, aside from coffee enemas Taking milk thistle is paramount if you have fatty liver. Liver Life she recommends to her clients. Sweat out toxic with infrared sauna. Reduce sugar, fine grains and alcohol to be good on your liver. How do we start a mineral program? Just start taking a higher end multivitamin (not Costco or drugstore or grocery store). Get them online or at a good health food store. Pure Formula Multi Vitamin/Mineral is a good one and Liveto110.com has a lot of good ones. Also start taking the Oceans Alive Marine Phytoplankton. 15 Day Fat Loss Kick Start Ebook Download your FREE copy here!! DOWNLOAD! Check your email. You will receive access for instant downloading.
