On Day 13, we are observing the mind. In this meditation, we are focusing on not just the thoughts because in Sanskrit thoughts mean vikalpa which means conceptual activity in the mind. It includes observing thoughts/thinking, emotions, feelings, images, and memories. Unlike in mindfulness of breathing, we focus on letting go of thoughts, here we are observing the thoughts with mindfulness and without getting lost in them or modifying them. About Robbie: Robbie Holz is an internationally respected healer and medium, frequent media guest and an author of the award-winning books read in 43 countries: "Secrets of Aboriginal Healing" and "Aboriginal Secrets of Awakening." Robbie's life was drastically altered in 1985. After a difficult 36-hour delivery, while giving birth to her child, Robbie was given a blood transfusion to "perk her up faster".  Unfortunately the transfusion was tainted with Hepatitis C, a disease often referred to as the silent killer. Like a Trojan horse, the virus hid in her body--until it confidently and openly declared war seven years later. Robbie was in for the fight, and spiritual awakening, of her life. Due to her reaction to the experimental Hepatitis treatment, Robbie developed fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, temporary brain damage, and became bedridden for 7 months. Since Western medicine was no longer able to help her, Robbie set out to find alternative ways to survive and recover. She ultimately healed herself of Hepatitis C, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and treatment-induced temporary brain damage, described in her award-winning memoir Aboriginal Secrets of Awakening. [19:47] How to Disconnect Yourself From the Fear of Rejection One of the ways Ben worked to disconnect from the fear of rejection was through systematically desensitizing himself to it over time. He references the concept of systematic desensitization taught by Steve Siebold, which involves gradually exposing yourself to what you fear in a controlled way to lessen its impact. In sales, Ben faced rejection repeatedly by putting himself out there more and more, which helped him realize he could withstand it. This process of facing rejection bit by bit through his actions and experiences helped reprogram his mindset around it by showing him rejection was not as threatening as he once thought. It became something he could better handle and not take as personally. [24:24] Reprogramming the Mind: Unlocking the Power of Your Subconscious We're all programmed in various ways, with our brain functioning as a supercomputer. The term 'garbage in, garbage out' not only applies to computing but also to our lives. If we consistently generate undesirable outcomes, like financial struggles, it's not our fault but an issue with our mental programming. We harbor unworkable beliefs that shape our behaviors and affect what we attract in life. Understanding this, the key lies in learning how to rewrite these programs at a deep, unconscious level. The subconscious mind, which constitutes 95% of our personality, dictates our thoughts, actions, feelings and even our biological functions. In contrast, our conscious mind accounts for a mere 5%. Despite knowing consciously what we should do to improve our health or increase our wealth, we often don't act on it. This discrepancy arises when our conscious desires haven't permeated our subconscious, leading to a mismatch. In such cases, the emotional, subconscious mind invariably triumphs. Carrie Heeter, Ph.D., RYS200 and meditation designer in the tradition of Viniyoga has written a fascinating book called ‘An Inside Look at Meditation: Experiences for healing, support and transformation.” Amy and Carrie discuss what it means to have an interactive meditative experience and how this might be different than what most of us think of when we imagine going into meditation. It is a co-creation that can be guided by the meditation facilitator/ designer but leaves space for the meditator to create an experience in their own mind that can lead to self-discovery, transformation and even mental and physical healing. Carrie is a Research Scientist, a developer of Virtual Reality games and has authored over 100 books and peer reviewed articles as a scholar at Michigan State University for 27 years.
