This series is sponsored by GIB AM. Women excel in environmental reporting and governance teams and yet remain underrepresented in leadership roles. So, what does it take to break through these barriers and drive meaningful change? The third episode of the Women in Climate podcast series moves beyond talk and dives into proven action. We uncover how leaders push ambitious sustainability goals from within massive corporations – implementing radical change top-down and bottom-up. We explore how company initiatives, personal action and leveraging networks at scale is working. We delve into how the legal profession is driving climate solutions — from boardroom negotiations to courtroom battles — and why vulnerability can be a leadership superpower at getting this done. In this episode, host Naomi Kerbel, director of communications at SEC Newgate UK, explores what it truly takes to be a climate leader with Amanda Carpenter, chief executive of Achill Legal, and Magali Anderson, founder of S4 and former chief sustainability officer at Holcim.

Lithium Universe Ltd (ASX:LU7, OTC:LUVSF) CEO Alex Hanly spoke with Proactive's Tylah Tully about the company's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Lafarge Canada and its strategic focus on Aluminosilicate Secondary Product (ACSR). Lafarge, a subsidiary of global cement and concrete leader Holcim, is one of Canada's largest concrete producers. The partnership centres on ACSR, a byproduct produced during Lithium Universe's lithium carbonate refinery process. This process generates ACSR in a 1:1 ratio to spodumene, alongside sodium sulphide. Hanly explained, “Rather than incurring high disposal costs, we see a valuable opportunity to integrate ASCR into the cement and concrete industry.” Following Lithium Universe's PFS announcement last year, Lafarge expressed interest in exploring its potential applications in construction. The next step involves procuring an ASCR sample that closely resembles what the company expects to produce at its Bécancour refinery. This material will undergo rigorous quality and strength testing in collaboration with Lafarge, industry labs and Montreal-based universities to ensure it meets construction standards. Hanly emphasised that ASCR was a key focus for Lithium Universe, aligning with its broader strategy to enhance lithium refining efficiency, reduce waste and create new revenue streams by supplying sustainable materials to the construction sector. #LithiumUniverse #ASXLU7 #LUVSF #Lafarge #Holcim #AluminaSilica #ASP #LithiumRefining #BatteryMetals #Concrete #Sustainability #Investing #StockMarket #ProactiveInvestors

Selected - The Sesamers Podcast

From Investor to Climate-Tech VisionaryMarta Sjögren spent over a decade as a venture capitalist, but a desire to make a meaningful impact drove her to co-found Paebbl. “I wanted to look my kids in the eyes and say, ‘I did my part,'” she shares. Marta's transition into climate tech was fueled by her desire to use her expertise to scale transformative solutions, ultimately creating a company focused on turning CO2 into sustainable building materials.Scaling Sustainability with SciencePaebbl's groundbreaking technology chemically accelerates a natural process, turning CO2 gas into carbonate rock. As Marta explains, “We just chemically accelerate a process that has existed since the beginning of time.” By using biogenic sources of CO2 and combining them with crushed minerals, water, and non-toxic chemical accelerants, Paebbl is creating sustainable materials for the construction industry. This innovative process is a game-changer for reducing emissions in hard-to-abate sectors like concrete production.Building a Diverse and Agile TeamWith a team of 45 people spanning 22 nationalities, Paebbl prioritizes diversity in skills and backgrounds. Marta notes that many employees come from industries like oil and gas, mining, and advanced materials, making the company a leader in green job transitions. “We're hiring for the future,” she says, highlighting the role of generative AI in streamlining operations and reducing costs. This approach enables Paebbl to stay competitive while scaling its impact.A Collaborative Vision for DecarbonizationMarta emphasizes the importance of partnerships to decarbonize the built environment, stating, “It's going to take a movement.” Through strategic collaborations with industry leaders like Holcim and Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund, Paebbl is driving adoption of sustainable building materials. The company's mission is clear: to make flagship construction projects, such as Saudi Arabia's Neom city, massive carbon sinks rather than emitters.Paebbl exemplifies how innovation and collaboration can tackle one of the world's most pressing challenges: climate change. By turning CO2 into sustainable materials, the company is not only reducing emissions but also paving the way for a greener future. As Marta puts it, “What if the most ambitious construction projects could be the world's largest carbon stores?” Find Marta on:LinkedIn: Marta SjögrenTwitter/X: @martasjogren Find Ben on:LinkedIn: Ben CostantiniTwitter/X: @bencostantini --Be sure to follow Sesamers on Instagram, LinkedIn, and X for more cool stories from the people we catch during the best Tech events!

Ever wondered if the Indian stock market still needs Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) now that domestic investors are stepping up? Shray and Deepak chew over this hot topic in our latest episode. They examine questions like whether foreign investors are responsible for recent market declines, who the primary owners of Indian companies are, and why foreign ownership is decreasing. They discuss the impact of regulatory changes, such as increased KYC requirements and the end of tax benefits for investments through Mauritius, Singapore, and Cyprus. The episode also delves into the differences between Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and Foreign Direct Investors (FDIs), as well as the significance of retail and domestic investors in the market. The hosts conclude by discussing the future of foreign ownership and whether retail investors should continue their systematic investment plans (SIPs). With retail investment soaring, the influence of foreign money seems to be waning—or is it? They also discuss the consequences of significant foreign withdrawals during global crises and compare the patterns of FII with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), highlighting the intricate details of market shifts. They also take a look at global capital flows through the case studies of Hyundai's, Holcim and British American Tobacco among others. Tune in to understand why studying both FII and FDI activity is crucial for grasping the bigger picture of market behavior.   More about us: https://cm.social/pms Schedule a call with us: https://cm.social/pms-connect   Deepak's Twitter: @deepakshenoy Shray's Twitter: @shraychandra Capitalmind Twitter: @capitalmind_in Deepak's first book: http://amzn.to/3CgkGea

Hello! This is Episode 280, and in it, I'm talking with Dylan Viviers, National Specification Manager from Holcim, all about low carbon concrete. [For all resources mentioned in this podcast and a free, downloadable PDF transcript, head to www.undercoverarchitect.com/280] Concrete is one of those tricky materials as far as sustainability is concerned. It's super durable and long-lasting, so from a longevity point of view, it's a great performer, which can be an asset for sustainability. However, concrete has a high carbon footprint, largely due to its cement content, as you'll hear more about in this episode. Even though cement only makes up 11% of the ingredients in concrete, it generates 80 - 90% of its carbon footprint. What's super exciting about this conversation is that you'll learn about how much a company like Holcim is doing to lower the carbon footprint of concrete with their ECOPact product. You'll also learn how accessible it is for you, doing your renovation or new build project, to specify low carbon concrete for your project. That, in fact, it would be pretty pointless not to. Low carbon concrete is on its way to become the concrete we use all the time, which is amazing. If you'd like to grab a full transcript of this episode, plus information on the resources we discuss, you can do that by heading to www.undercoverarchitect.com/280. A customer has already received and registered one of these German Model Y RWDs. This model is equipped with a new BYD battery that, upon quick testing, has reported positive results. The charge rate hit 172kW at 25% state of charge and stayed there until 50%.  Geely has started shipping its new Zeekr 001 model, powered by the latest CATL "Kirin" battery. This model, boasting the longest range among electric vehicles in the Chinese market, 641 miles (1,032 km) with a 140 kWh battery.  XPeng has announced that the first production model of its G6 SUV has begun leaving the manufacturing line. The G6 is scheduled to be formally launched and delivered by the end of the second quarter, with a price range of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan ($28,450).  XPeng sees the Tesla Model Y as the primary rival for the G6.  SAIC has cut the prices of several of its small electric vehicles (EVs) to promote their use in rural areas. The firm announced price reductions of up to 13,000 yuan ($1,850) for models in its Hongguang Mini EV family (15.7%).  In April, the sale of fully electric vehicles in China reached 444,000 units, constituting 25% of the country's auto market. An additional 165,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles sold during the month pushed the overall market share of plug-in or new energy vehicles to 34%.  In Shanghai participation in the May auction for gasoline vehicle licence plates fell to a 99-month low. Shanghai began giving free licence plates to buyers of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) in 2022. These next-generation electric vehicles (EVs) will be produced by BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA).  Swiss company Holcim will buy 1,000 Volvo electric trucks. The first 130 trucks are set to be delivered in 2023 and 2024. By replacing 1,000 current Volvo FH diesel trucks with 1,000 Volvo FH Electric trucks using green power on a typical route, up to 50,000 tonnes of CO2 could be saved annually.  VinFast has confirmed the arrival of its second shipment of VF8 EVs, including 1,879 longer-range vehicles, following an initial dispatch of 999 VF 8 City Edition SUVs in December 2022. VF8 Eco and VF8 Plus trim levels are EPA-rated at 264 miles and 243 miles, respectively.  Lotus is preparing to launch the Type 133, positioned as a rival to the Porsche Taycan. Spy photos suggest the Type 133 will feature a modern style, a sloping roof, and design elements drawn from the Evija and Eletre. The 112kWh battery pack from the Eletre will reportedly be included in the Type 133, potentially providing the sleek saloon with a range of over 400 miles.  Northvolt has completed the construction of its energy storage system (ESS) manufacturing plant in Poland and anticipates launching production by the end of 2023.  Tensions are escalating between Washington and Brussels over a plan to make European manufacturers eligible for U.S. electric car tax incentives. This deadlock is expected to prolong negotiations beyond the summer, potentially disadvantaging European manufacturers in the American auto market.

That includes the emissions that come from processing the raw materials like cement or steel, and, even bigger, the emissions that come from operating and powering those buildings during their whole lifetime.
