Thanks for joining us for this important conversation between Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson (she/her) and our pastor, Rev. Dr. Art Wright (he/him), as they discuss theological perspectives and a scriptural basis for understanding gender identity and trans persons, as well as the importance of paying attention to pronoun usage in churches. It is important for Christians and churches, regardless of theological or political stance, to be familiar with current conversations about gender identity in order to show hospitality and a sincere welcome to all, because we believe that that is foundational to creating space for worship and connection with God and others. Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson (she/her) is Interim Minister of Pilgrim United Church of Christ, New Bedford, MA. She is the host of A Transgender Community for ALL, found at www.revdrdonnie.org. Rev. Dr. Art Wright (he/him) is senior pastor of Williamsburg Baptist Church in historic Williamsburg, VA. Find out more at www.williamsburgbaptist.com.

There are some moments when I get lost in resentment toward others -- I can tell because I feel like I'm covered in fish guts. I'm grateful that I have a way to get past those moments and reconnect with my life, with others, and with the world. The Rev. Joel Miller is currently the Interim Minister at All Souls Unitarian Church in Indianapolis. Since his graduation from Starr King School for the Ministry in 1991, Joel's ministry has included opening and serving the Columbine UU church in Littleton, CO, for 7 years, serving as senior minister in Buffalo, NY, for 11 years, and serving as interim minister for 5 different UU congregations since 2011. He is an Accredited UUA Interim Minister and is also accredited as a Professional Transition Specialist by the Interim Ministry Network.

GOD WORKS IN OUR LIVES: FROM LIMPING IN SIN TO LEAPING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS Acts 3 Dr. Mikey Mewborn, our own Interim Minister to Students, currently serves as the Associate Dean of the College at Mid- America as well as the Director of Campus Life. Over the last 15 years, he has ministered at wonderful churches including Bellevue Baptist Church, Collierville First Baptist, and Emmanuel Baptist Church. Dr. Mewborn graduated from the University of South Florida. After much prayer and consideration,
If we wonder why religion and politics so often collide it is because they both arise from deeply held beliefs about what life should be about. In this most turbulent of political seasons, there is a role religion and UUism can play—and should!—that is sorely missing. Guest Minister Rev. Fred Wooden considered that role throughout today's Service.Rev. Fred, who recently retired from the Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan after many years of service, has just begun serving as Interim Minister at the Valley UU Congregation in Chandler, Arizona. Of local interest: Before Fountain Street, Rev. Fred served just around the corner from us at the UU Congregation in Brooklyn.
We are absolutely thrilled this week to welcome back Rev. Dr. Nadene Rogers. For those of us who remember, Rev. Nadene took the hold of the reigns of CSL White Rock, as our Interim Minister, in January of last year. From January to October of 2019, Rev. Nadene whipped our flagging minister-less Leadership and Centre into one worthy of acquiring a suitable Senior Minister to guide us. I am so grateful for this powerful, poised, and professional leader because without her we would never have attracted the right and perfect Spiritual Director, our very own Rev. Cassandra Rae, who inspires us and grows our Centre with such insight, heart, and wisdom. We are so blessed! Speaking on The Tao of Freedom, Rev. Nadene says, ‘Eastern and Western faith traditions speak to the concept of freedom. When we weave these concepts together, we become more aware of the “self” in order to release the self. This is the common path we all must travel, to live from our divine humanity. Within an ever-evolving sense of self, a constant innate desire to be free remains active. As we ‘include and transcend’ through the art of acceptance and the act of self-determination, we are freed.’ Knowing Love and Freedom for you, Sherry Dolejsi Board Chair --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/csl-whiterock/message
Show Notes:https://www.ananda.org/yogapedia/samadhi/https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_ThoughtThe basic outline of this particular episode is that when life sucks, it is because of one thing only: a phenomenon called separation. This episode describes what separation is and how to move towards a sense of the opposite of separation: oneness. I use examples from New Thought, Hinduism, Christianity, spiritual psychology, twelve step philosophy and science to demonstrate how each system defines separation and how each system teaches to move towards oneness. I thank you for listening, and I know that it is no accident that you are here. I affirm your greatest good! I affirm your inherent divinity, and that that divinity shows up in your life as wisdom, prosperity, peace and unconditional love. I know that you are the place where God shows up in this world. I love you, and I support you. Fearlessly Feral Living is sponsored by Center for Spiritual Living Carson City Nevada, a teaching chapter. Reverend Kathleen C. Rolenz, Interim Minister On any given Sunday morning, the worship services should (ideally) address diverse needs. Worship needs to not assume unanimity in our theological, cultural, gender/affectional orientation, social location, racial, neurobiological orientations. The one category that is often overlooked in creating church and planning programs is the introverts! This sermon, purchased at the Fall Fundraising Festival by Jamie Harms will explore the needs of the introvert and how church can be a generative space for them as well. Rev. Kathleen will use the book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can’t Stop Talking by Susan Cain as a primary resource.

Ten Rules for Living Rev. Kathleen Rolenz, Interim Minister Happy New Year! If you’re like most, you see the new year as a fresh start; a chance to break an old habit and start a new one. The Sum of All the Parts Rev. Kathleen Rolenz, Interim Minister While in between churches, I spent a year serving as a full-time Chaplain Resident at the University of Virginia Medical Center, covering the oncology, emergency room and psychiatric unit. It was there-- in the midst of life, death, chaos and healing I learned of the importance of paying attention, and had the experience of losing faith and finding hope. This sermon was born out of that chaplaincy and won the Richard C. Borden Sermon Prize of $10,000. Come see if you think the sermon was worth it!
Every day we hear about a new crisis arising; whether the threat to women’s reproductive freedoms, measles outbreaks, looming tensions in the Middle East, asylum-seeking families being cruelly separated or deported, white supremacy asserts itself at every term, glaciers melting – it’s a Hot Mess! Every day we must practice a few core principles of our faith which allow us to persist and resist. Buy Rev. Nancy McDonald Ladd’s new book: After the Good News: Progressive Faith Beyond Optimism for some advance reading!

In this Memorial Day sermon, Interim Minister, Rev. Kathleen Rolenz, gives a compelling and riveting message on the racial and controversial events in Charlottesville, Virginia last year over the removal of the Confederate statue of General Robert Lee. Rev. Kathleen asks "What if the narrative you are telling yourself is a lie?" and boldly shows why one's personal stories can create false narratives that lead to war and violence. What can we do differently? Listen to this message.

Led by Rev. Robin Landerman Zucker, Interim Minister, UU Church of Meadville (PA) with Worship Associate Lisa Thiel Among the multitude of Hindu deities, there is a goddess named “Akhilandeshvari” - the “Never Not Broken Goddess.” She is anything but frail, though – she carries a trident and rides in on a crocodile! As humans, we are also “never-not-broken,” yet how do you relate to our brokenness? Do we despise it? Embrace it? Feel empathy for it? Want to soothe it? Experience its intense pathos and pain and seek to transform it? We’ll ride along with Akhillandeshvari, as we explore these questions through an Eastern spiritual lens. In this participatory service, we’ll also hear a classic Indian folk tale and engage with Rev. Robin in a ritual of healing. Sunday service is offered 10 AM with nursery care available for children Pre-school age and younger.
