What if we could mitigate the enormous centralizing effects of the massive server farms and huge corporate entities, by pooling the GPU power of the millions of users and tinkerers who have unused or regularly idle computational power, into a decentralized marketplace for buying and selling Ai execution, and we could power it all with instantly settled sats over lightning? It just so happens that we can, and this ambitious project is being brought to life with GPUtopia. Ex-con June returns to Los Angeles to bury his father, and in the process brings violence and mayhem to everyone he encounters. Low-rent gangsters fight dogs and pistols shoot quiet through potato silencers, and at the center of this sweltering California Gothic and its surreal and colorful cast of characters is the love story of Kiddy and June, two wild young people separated by circumstance and time, trying not to love each other against their better instincts.“Christopher Rosales' writing in Word is Bone is so vibrant and dirty with street-level intimacy like a lot of hip-hop: think Kendrick Lamar's “Money Trees” and Domino's “Getto Jam.” These are stories from the stoops, laundromats, canals and alleyways, that show how a community weaves narrative webs to understand their own truths. So, here we go, here we go as the tune starts to bloom.” —Steven Dunn, author of Potted Meat and water & powerOfficial Website: https://www.christopherrosales.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/christopher.d.rosales Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chrisdrosales/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/CDRosales Support the show

A 27-year-old man has been charged with murder after he allegedly fatally beat another man with a brick and then threatened to become a serial killer if he is ever released from prison. Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 4200 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on October 3 at around 11:57 p.m. after receiving a report of a man down. A man with a head wound was reportedly discovered by authorities and was unresponsive at the scene. Medical personnel pronounced him dead, police said. Blood was found on a "large decorative brick" that was found near Christopher David, the victim, who was found on the ground, as reported by KLAS-TV. Malik Price was eventually identified as the suspect after more investigation. An eyewitness at a Motel 8 nearby told police that Price had tried to sell him a gun and mentioned "leaving a blood trail." According to KLAS, police apprehended Price on Las Vegas Boulevard. There was blood on his pants and shoes, and his footprint reportedly matched the one near the victim's body. Price was being interviewed when, according to KLAS's report, he began "rapping and rambling about Jesus Christ, Navy SEALs, 9/11, the Koran, and other non-relevant topics" when officers became tired of informing him of his rights. According to reports, once Price was informed of his rights, he stated that the interview was "going nowhere." According to a report obtained by KLAS, "Malik kept referring to Jesus Christ but would jump to Navy SEALs and the Marine Corps being involved in the 9/11 attacks." When authorities attempted to retrieve DNA evidence after the interview, Price allegedly said, "Because I am a vile murderer, I am the one who did it. Yes, I smacked him in the head with a gravestone. Today, I witnessed a sign that encouraged me to become a violent gentleman." Surveillance footage from police body cameras, obtained by KLAS, purportedly shows Price saying things like, "I killed that man in cold blood" and "If you let me out of jail, I'll become a serial killer." After being arrested for first-degree murder, police reported that Price was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. If you like TRUE CRIME TODAY - Be sure to search and subscribe wherever you download podcasts! In today's Solidarity Fridays episode, Joe and Kyle sit down and discuss two news stories emerging from Portland, Oregon- first, paramilitary-like federal agents showing up in unmarked cars and arresting protestors, and second, the beating and pepper-spraying of one of those protestors, Christopher David.  They look at these events from multiple perspectives- what fears are driving the opinions of people who are against these protests? Why does there always seem to be money when it comes to military expenses, but never any money when it comes to the wellbeing of people? How many police officers fully stand behind what they're doing, and how many are simply following orders or deeming certain evils necessary solely to earn their federal pension?  They analyze systems and better ways forward, like considering a bottom-up approach vs. the standard top-down approach or Ken Wilbur's framework of transcending an old system while including all the lessons from it. They also discuss decriminalization vs. legalization and the importance of regulation, and the massive scale of concepts and systems, like how MKUltra needs to be included when discussing the history of psychology. They also discuss telehealth and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and the complications surrounding it right now, from both therapists and clients not wanting to be in an office to the concerns of self-administration at home, to the benefits of self-exploration for those who do feel comfortable and safe engaging on their own. And lastly, they talk about their upcoming Navigating Psychedelics class, which is selling fast and will never be cheaper than it is now. Notable quotes “This is illegal, and people seem to forget that it’s illegal. Even if it’s decriminalized in a locality, doesn’t mean the feds can’t come in and shut you down. And that’s why they call me the party pooper.” -Joe “How many people get into higher systems and institutions with really good intentions [of] wanting to make change, and thinking... “I’m going to change it from the top down.” ...What would a ‘bottom-up’ approach be, and how could we give power back to communities to start to create their own change, instead of thinking that we need to change it from these hierarchical systems? I always come back to Bucky Fuller’s quote about just creating a different system- you don’t change a system by trying to change it, you make a new system that’s obsolete to that old way of being. ...I’m thinking also too, from the somatic lens in therapy- approaching it more cognitively, intellectually- this whole top-down brain approach vs. a body-oriented approach and working with the trauma, working with the body and thinking about, ok, what’s the body? It’s people, it’s communities. How do we start to work that way?” -Kyle “I just prefer to see government funds spent on stuff like the green new deal to save us from climate change. Or health care for all- those kinds of things. Why spend to put people in jail, when we could have, just like with cannabis, taxable revenue. I don’t want to let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Just because it’s not equitable, I don’t think that totally excludes the thing. I’d just like to see less people going to jail, less people being harmed by black market drugs, and more clean appropriate drugs available to the people who want them.” -Joe “How do we have the money to send these paramilitary agents in but you didn’t have the money to produce personal protection equipment for hospitals? What’s going on here?” -Kyle Links U.S. Homeland Security confirms three units sent paramilitary officers to Portland Navy veteran beaten and pepper-sprayed by federal agents at protest in Portland Support the show Patreon Leave us a review on Facebook or iTunes Share us with your friends Join our Facebook group - Psychedelics Today group – Find the others and create community.

Charlie Gard has died, and it is the state's fault. Do you hate the state yet? What's in the News with stories on losing the right to freedom of speech and guns, paying child support for someone who is not your child, e-cigarette regulations update, and Trump on police brutality. Also, and Ancap App segment on an update on Swarm City and a The Next Generation segment on homeschool savings, but not for homeschoolers. This episode is brought to you by Tom Woods's Liberty Classroom, helping you to become a smarter and more informed libertarian than ever before, for just 24 cents a day. WHAT'S RUSTLING MY JIMMIES In a Charlie Gard update, sadly, Charlie has died, just days before his first birthday. Charlie's mother, Connie Yates, said simply: “Our beautiful little boy has gone, we are so proud of you, Charlie.” And, based on every available account, it didn't have to be this way. An American doctor at Columbia University Medical Center has agreed to help this baby, and the family raised more than $1.6 million to take him there and have him treated. But, a British High Court judge ruled that the doctors could turn off Charlie's life support, because apparently the judge, in his infinite wisdom, knew that death was better for Charlie than the chance to live. But what chance did Charlie really have if he had received this treatment in America? According to Charlie's mother, "We want people to realize that we have been speaking to parents whose children were just like Charlie before starting treatment and now some of them are walking around like normal children. We wanted Charlie to have that chance too."  The Independent Payment Advisory Board As Murray Rothbard so famously asked in his article in the Libertarian Forum in July of 1977, "Do You Hate the State?" WHAT'S IN THE NEWS In unfit to exist news, a group of 43 US Senators — 29 Republicans and 14 Democrats — want to implement a law that would make it a felony for Americans to support the international boycott against Israel, which was launched in protest of that country's decades-old occupation of Palestine.  In come and get them news, 3D-printed gun designs are selling on the dark web for only $12.  In what the actual fuck news, a Texas man has been ordered to come up with more than $60,000 in back child support for a girl he did not biologically father and met only once in his life.  In smoke 'em if you've got 'em news, the FDA has given the e-cigarette industry a regulatory reprieve, for now. In come and get them again news, a lawsuit filed in federal court alleges the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) violated the gun rights of foster parents. In finally, some good news, President Trump's administration, on orders to kill two regulations for every new one, ripped up the playbook during its first six months, eliminating 16 old rules for every new one, according to top officials. ANCAP APPS What a wild ride it's been for Swarm City. First, I was bullish on Arcade City when it was first announced, then after several delays and very damning information came out about the founder, Christopher David, I became much more skeptical. Then, Swarm City takes over, gets rid of Christopher David, and makes some huge strides, so I was bullish all over again! They even sponsored ads on my show and I bought a bunch os Swarm City tokens. And, while I'm still bullish on Swarm City, I am a bit cautiously concerned after the latest hump on the roller coaster ride that is decentralized, crypto-backed peer-to-peer trading. In case you haven't heard, Swarm City was involved in an exploit, called the Parity Multisig Wallet Exploit, that cleaned out their primarily Etherum wallet where they held their operating funds for developing Swarm City. This was the money they made from their token sale last year and this was the money they used to pay for developers, marketing, and the like. The total amount taken was 44,055 Ether, worth, at the time of the theft, $9 million. In total, over 150,000 Ether was stolen from three different companies using these multi-sig wallets. What a multi-sig wallet does is it requires multiple people to sign off before any funds are removed from the wallet to keep the funds safe. This prevents any one person from taking all of the funds. Well, unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that way. THE NEXT GENERATION As you guys know by now, my wife and I have homeschooled our children since birth. We've been fortunate that my 9 and 11-year-old sons have never spent a day in government indoctrination centers, much to the chagrin of my public-school teacher mother-in-law. But, we don't regret a single minute of it, and we are thrilled to be setting our children up for the future by teaching them things they really need in the real world, like entrepreneurship, personal responsibility, how to find the answer instead of telling them the answer, and a love of learning. Who knew, though, that while doing this I was saving the state money, which is a fucking shame since I am still paying the same amount in taxes as people who send their kids to public school.  Apparently, those savings are pretty large too. For example, based on state spending per student multiplied by the approximate number of homeschoolers in each state, California is saving $1.8 billion a year thanks to homeschool families, and yet that state is still in massive debt. Go figure. Other notable states include North Carolina at $1 billion, New York at $1.7 billion, Texas at $1.2 billion, Florida at $729.8 million, and Illinois at $798.6 million. Even little bitty New Hampshire is saving $80.7 million per year.

Should you or your kids register for the draft or dodge the draft? Find out what the implications are. News with stories on kids needing licenses to mow, 900 kids being illegally searched, Ross Ulbricht, and jury nullification, and an Ancap Apps segment on Swarm City. This episode is brought to you by Praxis, where you can get a full-time job in nine months making $50,000 a year with no college degree. Also brought to you by Swarm City, a decentralized commerce meta-platform that allows people to participate in commerce without interference from a third party. WHAT'S RUSTLING MY JIMMIES In my formerly conservative days, I was proud to sign up for the draft through the selective service program. At the time, I didn't understand fully the implications of that decision. Looking back on it now, I wish I had more information on it. From a government that tells me I am not smart enough to use alcohol until I'm 21 years old, or that I'm never smart enough to use many other drugs, it is the height of hypocrisy for them to force an even more difficult decision like this on 18-year-old boys. And this is not just an intellectual exercise for me. I have two boys, 11 and 9, who, much sooner than I want, will be facing this exact decision. I want to prepare them for this decision much better than my parents prepared me, which was exactly zero preparation.  I have to start out with the caveat that I am not a lawyer and nothing you'll ever hear me say is legal advice.  The Draft is Slavery I'm a Free Man Resisting Slavery  The Center on Conscience and War WHAT'S IN THE NEWS In barriers to work news, Gardendale, Alabama is now requiring kids in the town to pay $110 to buy a business license if they want to make a few extra bucks over the summer mowing lawns. Teenagers have actually been threatened by officials and other lawn services to show their city-issued license before cutting a person's lawn for extra summer cash. In other state vs. kids news, in Worth County, Georgia, violated children and furious parents have just filed a massive lawsuit after the Worth County Sheriff's office conducted an illegal search of 900 students — in the name of the war on drugs. In big brother is always watching news, the FBI has illegally shared raw intelligence about Americans with unauthorized third parties and violated other constitutional privacy protections, according to newly declassified government documents. In Ross Ulbricht news, the Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit upheld the conviction and sentencing of Ross Ulbricht for life without parole based on crimes associated with launching and operating the Silk Road website, a site where people could buy and sell items anonymously, including illegal drugs. In low information jurors news, jurors in Mecosta County, Michigan, have convicted a man for telling potential jurors that they don't have to convict people. ANCAP APPS Do I have an interesting treat for you guys today! If you've been listening to me for a while, you know that I've talked about Arcade City quite a lot in the past, and not in a good way. I liked the original concept behind Arcade City, but I had massive issues with the implementation by Christopher David. My first Ancap Apps segment on Arcade City was way back in March of last year where I was talking about the very beginnings of the great idea and how excited I was for it. You can listen to that episode at thelavaflow.com/33. Then, in September of last year, when things started looking bad for the implementation of Arcade City, I did a Jimmies called The Gamification of Arcade City. You can get to that one by going to thelavaflow.com/45. I followed that one up in November with Arcade City 2.0 where I talked about the huge changes in Arcade City when Christopher David stepped down and left the operations of Arcade City to the development team that became involved in the project. You can get that one at thelavaflow.com/50. Finally, I did a spurt episode called Arcade City vs. Swarm City Hard Fork, where the dev team went even further to distance themselves from Chris by changing the brand completely to Swarm City. That one is at thelavaflow.com/tls28.  I haven't talked much about them since, but I've been watching closely, and I've been very pleased with what I've seen. So pleased, even, that I spend some money and purchased some Swarm City tokens, the same tokens that were once called Arcade City tokens that I told everyone to stay the hell away from. And, the newest advertiser for this show is Swarm City! This is how much things have changed. And, today, I have an interview with Matt Carano, a musician, voluntaryist, entrepreneur, marketer, and organizer who is currently running a communications hive in Swarm City. Matt is also a personal friend of mine and a co-host with me on the Freecoast Freecast podcast. You can follow Matt on Twitter @matthewcarano. EP57: How Arcade City & Blockchains are Disrupting Uber

Liberty Entrepreneurs

What you are going to LEARN in this episode: How blockchains are breaking the old model of centralized, big-business. How the Free Market and the sharing economy build around government’s heavy taxation. Why the blockchain allows us to trust each other without needing to know each other. How digital token sales are much easier and cheaper to raise funds for your startup Today’s guest is Christopher David, Founder of the decentralized ride-sharing app Arcade City. While living in New Hampshire at the Free State Project, Chris saw first hand what the government was doing to cripple Uber and the ride-sharing economy. At the time, he was driving for Uber. After attending countless town hall meetings, Chris decided to take matters into his own hands and build an Uber competitor which was decentralized and much more difficult to shut down and regulate. He felt that he had much more control when building rather than when begging the government to hear his side of the story. Crowdfunding and the Digital Token Sale In order to build their app and continue development, Arcade City needs funding. Rather than going the standard route of Angel investment or VC funding, Chris decided to issue a digital token (similar to Bitcoin) instead of selling shares of the company. These tokens have various uses and we are seeing these “ICOs” (initial coin offerings) starting to be used more frequently (Ethereum, Augur, Airbitz, etc). The ability to create a scarce, digital asset to manage and sell directly to the people who will fund your business is a great tool for digital entrepreneurs and their startups. Unfortunately, I expect the heavy hand of the SEC to come down on these ICO’s in short order. So that’s it! As many expected, blockchains are being used in so many different areas of life, even after only 8 years in existence. The full capability of this new, cutting-edge technology will only continue to grow as does the usefulness and utility of the Internet. Welcome to the age of digital, programmable money!
