On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, we finish a series examining the best 10 Buffalo Bills players of all-time, position by position. Rather than spend four episodes dropping the final four positions to cover, we're jamming linebackers, cornerbacks, safeties and special teamers into one and rather than do these solo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe (@BuffaloWins) for insight on the lists. After finishing off the four remaining positions Patrick goes back to the previous ones and they review them all. Here's a spoiler alert----Joe quite often disagrees with how players are ranked at each position and bickering frequently ensues. Among players strongly argued for or against their positioning include Jerry Hughes, Phil Hansen, Donte Whitner, Brian Moorman, Willis McGahee and Jason Peters. They guys also spend time at the end discussing the wildly popular Netflix series Stranger Things. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast  Twitter:  @PatMoranTweets. On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, we continue a series examining the best 10 Buffalo Bills players of all-time, position by position. Today's episode runs down the ten best defensive ends in franchise history and while there's no mystery at the top, there's plenty to debate elsewhere. These power rankings are exclusively the opinions of TBP host Patrick Moran, who doesn't confer with media or poll fans for input. Several factors go into the ranking of these players positionally including productivity, longevity, personal accolades and overall team success. Bruce Smith being at the top of this list was always a foregone conclusion but there's plenty of water cooler debate to be had, including where Jerry Hughes, Aaron Schobel and Mario Williams deserve to land on this list. Of all the positions to this point, Patrick's confident the defensive ends will be the one where most disagree with the positioning of several guys. Here is a list of when remaining episodes from this series will drop. Thursday July 14th (Defensive Tackles) Monday July 18th (Linebackers) Tuesday July 19th (Cornerbacks) Wednesday July 20th (Safeties) Thursday July 21st (Special Teams) ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast  Twitter:  @PatMoranTweets. On this episode of Talking Buffalo Podcast, Patrick Moran goes solo and focuses on three primary topics: if former Buffalo Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes should someday go on the team's Wall of Fame, the rising next level stardom of Josh Allen, and why Patrick now includes “This is Us” on his Mt. Rushmore of TV shows. There's been a lot of debate on social media whether Hughes deserves to go on the team's Wall of Fame someday. While Patrick doesn't completely dismiss the possibility, he discusses several candidates he considers more worthy. He also spends a few minutes talking about the rising superstardom of Josh Allen off the field and why it feels weird as a life-long Buffalo sports fan, and pleads his case for This is Us being one of the greatest TV series of our time despite many calling it too emotional or even boring. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast  Twitter:  @PatMoranTweets. Jerry is a new friend I made after relocating to India in June 2021, and a reader who was deeply touched by the words I penned. In all honesty, he was not "the kind of person" I was imagining when I thought about who would be in my audience of readers. In the interview, our personalities (and friendship) allowed us to be raw, honest and comical. I hope that you will be encouraged to #LiveYourStory and maybe even pick up a copy of my book as a tool to help you grow forward.

The Buffalo Bills (5-2) travel south to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6) in Week 9, and on the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D'Amico have everything you need to know as the Bills look for their third win over a team from the state of Florida this year. Among the topics discussed: Jacksonville's rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence has seen his fair share of struggles early in his career. Through his first seven games, how similar are Lawrence's stats compared to Buffalo's Josh Allen early in his career? Lawrence has had a penchant for throwing interceptions so far, though he has cut down on the interceptions of late. How can Buffalo confuse Lawrence and will its opportunistic defense continue to create turnovers? How Jacksonville's physical receivers, especially Laviska Shenault Jr. and Marvin Jones, will provide a challenge for Buffalo's starting CB2, Levi Wallace, and what Wallace needs to do to hold his own in coverage. How Lawrence and the Jaguars offense lack a weapon who can stretch the field. The Bills have succeeded in containing the opposing tight ends, a trend they hope will continue against Dan Arnold, who has been one of Lawrence's favorite targets. Why defensive tackle Ed Oliver and defensive end Jerry Hughes are poised for big games vs. Jacksonville. With guard Jon Feliciano and tackle Spencer Brown sidelined, what Buffalo can do to slow down the other Josh Allen, Jacksonville's dynamic edge rusher? Why Buffalo's offense would be wise to unleash wide receivers Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders over the middle to take advantage of a weak linebacking corps, led by Myles Jack, who has seen quarterbacks complete 14-of-17 passes where he was the closest defender this year for a total of 157 yards and two touchdowns Unlike Buffalo, the Jacksonville defense is completely inept when it comes to forcing turnovers, with just two on the year. We close by giving our score predictions as Buffalo looks to defeat Jacksonville for the fifth time in the last seven meetings. When the 2021 NFL schedule came out, Buffalo Bills fans immediately circled Week 5 on their calendars, the week the Bills return to Arrowhead Stadium for a showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs in a rematch of the AFC Championship game. On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D'Amico have everything you need to know to get ready as Buffalo looks to earn a statement win on Sunday Night Football. Among the topics discussed: Josh Allen had two of the worst performances of his career in losses to the Chiefs in 2020, including in the AFC title game. What can Allen do to settle into a groove and solve Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's aggressive defense? Is this a statement game for the Bills? Why, despite a matchup of two of the league's top aerial attacks, unlocking the ground game could hold the key to winning Sunday night's primetime clash. The important role that rookie offensive lineman Spencer Brown holds to unleashing Zack Moss, Devin Singletary and the rushing attack. How Buffalo's ground game has enjoyed a solid start to the season, and why the Bills should be able to run on the Chiefs. Why veteran wideout Emmanuel Sanders could help Allen avoid a repeat of the erratic performances from last year against the Chiefs. How it is important for Greg Rousseau, Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, A.J. Epenesa and Buffalo's front four to generate pressure on Patrick Mahomes, without resorting to exotic blitzes. The X-factor to Buffalo's defensive successes so far through four weeks? Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei. What, if anything, the Bills can do to contain prolific tight end Travis Kelce. Whether defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Leslie Frazier should follow a similar game plan to last year, when the Bills allowed running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to get his while sitting back and not allowing Mahomes to pick the D apart. How Buffalo can capitalize on Tua Tagovailoa's penchant for turning the ball over, and why Boccacino and D'Amico both feel like the Bills defense will force multiple turnovers while getting after Tagovailoa. What Will Fuller's absence means to Miami's passing attack, and whether the Bills defense will continue playing more man-to-man against Miami's talented wideouts, or whether the Bills will revert back to more zone-heavy looks? Boccacino and D'Amico then offer up their score predictions for the game. Feel free to leave yours in the comments section. After dissecting the pair of rookies, Boccacino and D’Amico speculate on how many defensive ends the Bills will keep, and who should make the roster, and who will find themselves on the outside looking in. It appears there are five “locks” to make the roster in Rousseau, Basham, A.J. Epenesa, Jerry Hughes, and Mario Addison, especially with general manager Brandon Beane committing to keeping Addison and the team not saving that much by releasing him. We also take a moment to celebrate the under-appreciated Hughes, who was No. 2 in the NFL in his pass rush win rate last year behind only Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt and who continues to be an invaluable contributor to the pass rush and a stout run defender. Assuming the Bills will keep either five or six defensive ends, that means one roster spot remains for: Darryl Johnson, Efe Obada, Bryan Cox. Jr., and Mike Love., and we make the case for who should earn that final spot. On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico continue their offseason State of the Bills series of podcasts by breaking down and reviewing the contributions the Bills got from their defensive linemen in 2020. For the second straight year, the Bills were the team with the highest percentage of their salary cap devoted to the defensive line, with mixed results. The Bills saw their sack productivity decline from 44 in 2019 to 38 and finished 14th in the NFL in sacks per pass attempt. The Bills are bringing back plenty of talent along the defensive line, including their top two edge rushers from last year in defensive ends Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison, along with up-and-coming defensive tackle Ed Oliver, second-year defensive end A.J. Epenesa, and defensive tackles Vernon Butler, Harrison Phillips and Justin Zimmer. How can the Bills improve their defensive line? Well for starters, they are banking on the return of run stuffer and one-technique expert Star Lotulelei, who sat out 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns. His presence should solidify the run defense while allowing Oliver to flourish at defensive tackle. We address what Hughes and Addison can do to bolster the pass rush, discuss how big of an impact Lotulelei's return will have on the line, and examine what Oliver needs to do to take the next step in his progression. We also explore whether Epenesa can build upon his solid end to the 2020 season, dive into how free agent defensive end Efe Obada represents a nice low-risk/high-reward addition to the line, say goodbye to defensive ends Trent Murphy and Quinton Jefferson, and discuss how, on the surface, the Bills' defensive line has the talent to gel in their second year under defensive line coach Eric Washington.
