Yesterday, we looked at the physical impacts of hurricanes in Louisiana and heard stories from survivors. Today, we dive deeper into the psychological affects of navigating natural disasters. Disaster and trauma expert Kate Yurgil, who is an assistant professor of psychology at Loyola University New Orleans, joins us for more. New Orleans guitar master Jimmy Robinson is gearing up for a three-night extravaganza of international guitar performances. Today, Jimmy tells us more about the Across the Pond Guitar Festival in New Orleans and Covington. But first, coal miners have been striking for 16 months in Alabama, and a new fine accuses the United Mine workers of significant property damage, including flattening tires, shattering car windows, and starting fist fights. The Gulf States Newsroom's Stephan Bisaha tells us more about this current battle, and how violent confrontations have long been a part of miners' labor movements. Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Diane Mack. Our managing producer is Alana Schreiber and our digital editor is Katelyn Umholtz. Our engineers are Garrett Pittman, Aubry Procell, and Thomas Walsh. You can listen to Louisiana Considered Monday through Friday at 12:00 and 7:30 pm. Sundial poet Jimmy Robinson remembers his good friend and her environs.
There are three conversations on this week’s podcast: Richard Troman, senior development and application chef, Kerry Europe and Russia; Jimmy Robinson, owner of Robinson’s Ice Cream; and Moayad Abushokhedim, food scientist and founder of Fooditive.
On April 6, 2021, President Joe Biden moved up his deadline for all American adults to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine to April 19, 2021. In this podcast, Jim Paul, Jimmy Robinson, and Bret Daniel discuss key considerations for employer policies that mandate vaccines for workers, including federal agency guidance and state executive action and legislation. The speakers address employer inquiries into an employee’s vaccination status as well as the implementation of vaccine incentive programs and prospective vaccination waivers.
In November 2020, Jimmy Robinson died at the age of 88. Anyone who follows Minnesota basketball knew who he was. In 1971, he became the first Black official to work a state tournament basketball game. He officiated Big Ten basketball games from 1971-1987, and served as the state coordinator of basketball officials for the Minnesota State High School League from 1991 until his death. His support of basketball was evident in the number of games he attended from high school to the pros; there was always a space on press row reserved for him at Minnesota Lynx home games. He garnered much respect from players, coaches and referees alike, and his presence as an official and mentor inspired many others who looked like him to take up officiating. One of them is Lamarr Sullivan, and he shared his memories of an individual who never looked for glory, but earned it nonetheless. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tsbtelevision/support

My favorite person on earth joins me for a nice chat about a little of everything. Jim Norton!! Yay! I'm not lying when I say he's my best friend so glad to have him on. We talk about his underwear, NY vs LA, and about Jim's childhood. We talk about his parents, Jimmy Robinson his imaginary friend that used to pick on little Jimmy Norton. We talk about self deprecation, self hatred, bad habits, and growing up in the 70s... not that I would know anything about it. Enjoy this treat!
