News for the week: Mary Cait Walthall will be taking a temporary break from the show to study theater in London, so keep all your great Zarlene zuggestions in your pocket for a while! Julia Weiss and Griffen Eckstein joined the Trek About podcast, and Nick Wagner and Sean Kelley chatted with the OCDWeeb podcast. In the bonus scene, Corbomite and Lt. King have "the talk" about where their away team is heading.
On this special episode of Trekabout, Eric Brasure sits down with Griffen Eckstein and Julia Weiss of Improvised Star Trek. Were you like Eric, hoping against hope that there was an improv group out there doing a regular Star Trek show? You’re weird. But also in luck! iTunes Google Play RSS
Anyone who knows Julia knows she's an incredibly passionate person, and I couldn't wait to get her on MBSing to chat about one of the many things she's passionate about. Possible topics included feminism, childhood/nannying, social networks, drinking, Beyoncé, family, and a handful of others, but at the top of the episode my lovely roommate Stephanie drew Julia's topic out of a hat as an unbiased observer. Thus sealing our topic of discussion: food. We explored the good and bad emotions attached to food (comfort, joy, guilt...), the progression of Julia's tastes from exploratory meals she made as a child to Chicago's fine dining options, and a hypothetical restaurant where Julia would expertly pair a TV show or film with her patrons' meals. I laughed until my stomach hurt during this recording because Julia is just incredibly funny and also there were probs some hunger grumbles after all the food talk. Eat a sandwich, then listen to us dish! Notes: Alinea, who topically had some baby-related drama this weekend. Next, whose current menu is Chicago Steak EL Ideas and up-to-date whereabouts of Andrew Brochu
