Matt "Money" Smith and Lorenzo Neal go LIVE from the road to break down the Chargers' free agency moves. With fans anxious over the team's quiet start, they emphasize Jim Harbaugh's patient approach, prioritizing re-signing key players like Rashawn Slater over big-name splashes. Key takeaways: O-Line Concerns: The market for linemen is skyrocketing, making deals tricky. Skill Positions: The team explored trades for DK Metcalf and Davante Adams but didn't land them. TE Evan Engram is still a possibility. RB Room: Najee Harris adds durability and power, but a draft pick at RB is still likely. Defense: Led by Harbaugh and Minter, the unit remains solid with Khalil Mack, Derwin James, and Junior Colson returning.

Offense vs Michigan State Starts at 1:00 Introducing the MGoBlog post-game incident scale: 1 -- Kerfuffle 2 -- Fracas 3 -- Brewhaha 4 -- Melee 5 -- Donnybrook What happened after the game on Saturday was a kerfuffle. It felt like Michigan State came into the game with a solid plan while Michigan was struggling. Suddenly, Michigan was leading at halftime. Davis Warren's job was to not lose this game and he didn't, the ball wasn't put into danger and it worked. Donovan Edwards is no Tom Brady but he's got a perfect QB rating. 2. Defense vs Michigan State Starts at 35:15 Defense only gives up 17 points but it doesn't feel super great? But for the most part they did okay. Junior Colson set the bar for consistent tackling and now missed tackles are weird. They put Mason Graham at edge and got weird and then got beat by Michigan State 3rd down frippery. They're preventing their best players from making plays. Michigan State didn't put this game on Aidan Chiles' shoulders so we didn't get the full Chiles experience. Brian finally has a nice thing to say about Cal Haladay. Maybe Jesse Minter was just so good that no matter who was the defensive coordinator this year they would be perceived as bad. 3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 1:01:08 We gotta have a brewhaha level of takes at least. Tommy Doman has continued to be inconsistent. Was State's on-side kick a good idea? The weird fair catch rule is something a lot of us didn't know about. Going for it on 4th down, tougher decision than last year! 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:29:51 Indiana 31, Washington 17 Yardage was fairly even but Indiana grinded it out very consistently. They're 8-0 for the first time since 1967. Kurtis Rourke had surgery on his thumb and might be back this weekend. Ohio State 21, Nebraska 17 Indiana beat Nebraska 56-7, JUST SAYIN'. Ryan Day has a meltdown on the field and then tells fans to be happy about this game in his press conference. Ohio State fans are comparing their tackle situation to Michigan's QB situation. Penn State 28, Wisconsin 13 Drew Allar went out around halftime. It doesn't look like it's happening for Luke Fickell at Wisconsin. Penn State pretty much dominated down-for-down. USC 42, Rutgers 20 Pushed back til 11pm EST kickoff to accommodate the World Series?? How many of you sickos (me) watched this? Iowa 40, Northwestern 14 They benched Cade McNamara! Northwestern only had 163 yards of offense. Oregon 38, Illinois 9 Eek. Minnesota 48, Maryland 23 Never competitive. General Vibes Starts at 1:00 Despite the outcome, all the Michigan fans who went to this game seemed to have a great time. Are the “trophy go brrrr” vibes wearing off? The team seems disorganized at a macro level. Michigan was slipping all over field turf which was weird. They screwed up the off-season and it's tough to tell who that primarily falls on. Was Tuttle the plan all along but he was injured? Is it worth morphing the offense around Orji at this point? Washington had the same off-season as Michigan but they recruited a quarterback. At this point, Michigan needs a portal off-season because they lose the last of their star power after this season. Can they get enough “Harbaugh guy” type players? It's concerning that the offensive line is having as many difficulties as it is under Sherrone, he's had them for years. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Offense vs Washington Starts at 29:52 Tuttle brings the offense some life but then he has two 4th quarter turnovers. It looks like he's the guy moving forward though, he went through progressions! He's going to be rusty coming off of injury, though. At times it looked like Harbaugh's offense but it's just too inconsistent. They're figuring out the basics so they can't add new wrinkles to the offense. They did have a nice orbit swing pass, we haven't seen much “college crap.” Colston Loveland must still be injured. 3. Hot Takes, Defense vs Washington Starts at 50:16 Takes hotter than VANDERBILT FOOTBALL (not a joke). The story on the defense seemed to be Jyaire Hill. He was getting exposed throughout the game and also had slipping issues. Every time they try to do something funky on passing downs or two minute drills it doesn't work. How is Will Johnson out there committing pass interference? Giles Jackson ate Zeke Berry's lunch. We miss Junior Colson. We've never had anything to say about Makari Paige until this season. There's nothing majorly wrong with this defense, they just make big busts at the worst times. 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:22:20 Wisconsin 52, Purdue 6 Wisconsin has 18 straight wins over Purdue with an average margin of victory of over 20 points! This game was the largest margin. Penn State 27, UCLA 11 The Big Noon game for some reason. A bit of a rock fight all things considered. Indiana 41, Northwestern 24 Indiana becomes the first team to be bowl eligible. #9Windiana cometh. Ohio State 35, Iowa 7 Iowa cannot move the ball at all. Iowa held Ohio State to 7 points in the first half, maybe Oregon goes into next weekend with some confidence? Nebraska 14, Rutgers 7 Nobody can do anything efficiently in this game. Minnesota 24, USC 17 Controversy in the 4th quarter! Minnesota goes for a game winning touchdown instead of a game winning field goal. USC is getting a taste of Big Ten running. Oregon 31, Michigan State 10 This is the 3rd game where Aidan Chiles has fumbled in the red zone. The first time in the John Smith era where MSU looked like last year's team. Oregon looks ready to compete with Ohio State. MUSIC: "Whole World"--Goth Babe "Go With Me"--Gene and Debbie "Nearly Lost You"--The Screaming Trees “Across 110th Street”—JJ Johnson and his Orchestra

The Chargers hosted the Rams for what The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue terms a scrimmage, giving both teams their first opportunity to play football against an opponent this offseason. The #Chargers kicked off their 2024 NFL rookie minicamp last Friday and there are SEVERAL topics to cover. We'll discuss everything Jim Harbaugh had to say about the rookie class so far, including a ringing endorsement for linebacker Junior Colson: Per his press conference: "I'm not saying he's going to be wearing any dots or anything anytime soon — probably not the first year. He's literally making all of the calls. He's making all the linebacker calls. He's making the DB calls right now. The safeties that are making calls are getting it mostly right. I'd give them an 'A,' but the ones that they miss on, Junior will make the call and correct the call for the safeties, which is awesome. In a meeting with the linebackers, [Linebackers Coach] NaVorro [Bowman] would ask a question and Junior would give the right answer. It finally got to the point, 'Somebody other than Junior answer this next question.' [laughter] It's safe to say that he knows he's on it. It's a great thing for our team." We'll also discuss the additions of EDGE Bud Dupree and WR DJ Chark! Carolina Panthers rookie WR Xavier Legette is poised to push 2nd yr, WR Jonathan Mingo for playing time in 2024. Keith believes rookie TE Ja'Tavian Sanders will create an obstacle for Mingo also. The Philadephia Eagles rookie CB duo of Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean will pressure Kelee Ringo and Elias Ricks to find out who will be the future of their secondary. Which 2024 rookie TE fell into the best situation, Brock Bowers or Ben Sinnott? The Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders have a strong 1-2 punch at the WR position. It will be interesting to see how these rookies fit into their offenses. Which rookie LB will have the biggest year 1 impact? Green Bay Packers' Edgerrin Cooper, Pittsburgh Steelers' Payton Wilson, and the Los Angeles Chargers' Junior Colson should be used heavily in 2024. DP and Keith discuss it all. Locked On Chargers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers were desperate to add wide receiver talent headed into the draft and liked Ladd McConkey so much that they traded up to get him. He undoubtedly will have a role as a rookie but, if he can gain the trust of Justin Herbert, he could absolutely lead Los Angeles in targets in 2024. Dan and David Buy and Sell the Chargers biggest storylines and overreaction including if they could bring in a free agent receiver after drafting three of them. The guys also get into their expectations for first round pick Joe Alt, who they think he will follow in his dad's footsteps and make the Pro Bowl even after switching to the right side. Junior Colson was one of the host's favorite picks of the draft and has experience in Jesse Minter's defense, but will he start in week one? Locked On Chargers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Chargers
The Draft looked VERY different under Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz, and it was hard not to give their draft class glowing remarks with the impact players they brought in. Joe Alt, Ladd McConkey and Junior Colson are all picks deserving of an A because they brought great value and filled big needs. Dan and David give grades for every player in the 2024 Draft class, and what they are most excited and most nervous about for each pick. Each of the first three picks should play immediately, but fourth round pick Justin Eboigbe is a player that is very fundamental player that could easily outplay his draft slot. The guys also give their grades on the corners the Chargers took back to back, and give a great grade to new running back Kimani Vidal. Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson both bring depth to the receiver room, but must develop further to become impact players to be full time receivers. After taking Joe Alt in round one, the Chargers addressed their biggest need taking wide receiver Ladd McConkey in the second. The Georgia product brings a huge boost to the Chargers WR room with elite footwork and route-running to go along with some serious juice athletically. Dan and David break down Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft and why they love both of Los Angeles' selections. Jim Harbaugh also was able to land his former player Junior Colson. But where does that rank among their other needs like center, cornerback, and offensive tackle? Also, Chris takes your calls on the Locked on Steelers hotline, including questions about the NFL Draft's defensive line class, what can be done to make DeMarvin Leal and Calvin Austin more involved, a potential Terrell Edmunds reunion, and if the Steelers should take a look at Matt Araiza, AKA the punt god. On this week's "Seven from 77," Jon shares his observations from Schembechler Hall as the Wolverines prepare for Alabama and breaks down some of the individual awards that Wolverines players are bringing home. Then, Jon visits with one of those award winners - junior linebacker Junior Colson - around the 26-minute mark. Colson discusses the Wolverines' first 13 games, the Lott IMPACT Trophy he won, and the team's preparations for the Rose Bowl.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Offense vs Purdue Starts at 1:00 EDITOR NOTE: I am also spending a lot of time compressing Brian's voice. The worst night game to have is the crappy night game, especially when USC Washington and Alabama LSU are on! It says something that JJ hit 60% of his passes and threw for over 300 yards and everyone's like "what's wrong with JJ?" When do you want to save a play and when do you want to put it on tape? Donovan Edwards has not been utilized properly, are they saving a package for him against Penn State? Starting tackles gave up some sacks but otherwise played pretty well (Purdue has a pair of NFL defensive ends). Is the way to beat JJ by playing a lot of zone defense? 2. Defense vs Purdue Starts at 43:20 Michigan wasn't getting sacks against Hudson Card but they were pressuring him on every play. It'll be curious to see who actually rotates against Penn State. Starting to feel like we're getting the 2021 version of Rod Moore, which is encouraging. Junior Colson took a step in the right direction, Josh Wallace also played well. All of the ends are a higher level than we predicted at the beginning of the year. 3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 1:02:36 Takes hotter than Santa Ono's letter to Tony Petitti. Why is Purdue football every five years just two NFL defensive ends and nothing else? The 4th and one felt like a good decision, the formation wasn't. Michigan hasn't kicked a field goal in forever so it was good to see it still works. Starters played well into the 4th quarter. 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:25:22 Penn State - 51 Maryland - 15 Maryland turns the ball over four times and rushes for -49 yards. Yup, we're at November Maryland, they are no longer a trap game. When Drew Allar can set his feet and have time to throw he looks like the five star he's supposed to be, but when you pressure him he's shaky. They probably won't be able to run against Michigan but they still have one of the best defenses in college football. Ohio State - 35 Rutgers - 16 Rutgers is leading 9-7 at halftime but throws a pick-six while driving in the 3rd quarter. Rutgers outgains Ohio State 361-328. We experienced for a moment what it was like being a Rutgers fan and it wasn't fun. Iowa - 10 Northwestern - 7 Neither team gets more than 200 yards and Iowa is alone in first place in the West. He can't keep getting away with it. Indiana - 20 Wisconsin - 14 How did Indiana win this? Uhh, one good pass play? Wisconsin outgain Indiana 344-261. Indiana took the lead and just waited for the time to run out before Wisconsin came back. Michigan State - 20 Nebraska - 17 Nebraska gets back to their old self, turning the ball over three times. Illinois - 27 Minnesota - 26 Illinois wins on an improbable last minute drive with their backup QB. A disappointing game for anyone who didn't want to see Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game. At the beginning of Monday night's radio show, Jon Jansen caught up with Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, who recapped Saturday's win at Michigan State and looked ahead to "Improvement Week" for the program. Then, Jon visited with a pair of talented tight ends - AJ Barner and Colston Loveland - at the 19:00 mark. The show concluded with two key members of the Wolverines' defense - Mike Barrett and Junior Colson - at the 32:00 mark.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Offense vs Michigan State Starts at 1:00 There was an initial reaction to be nervous about this game due to the history of this rivalry but Michigan does not care. Seth got an Epic Double Bird from a Michigan State player. We love this team. The story of Mike Sainristil and Michael Barrett are what this era of Michigan football are all about. They're such dorks (this is not a diss). Michigan fans absolutely drowned out Spartan Stadium in this game. JJ had a Tom Brady throw in his touchdown pass to Colston Loveland. When the pocket breaks down, JJ is like Houdini. If you let JJ sit in the pocket, he hits his dig routs and you die. If you rush him, it's even worse! Alex Drain's pre-season hot take about AJ Barner was accurate! The run game was a bit stagnant, though. MSU was prepared for the RPS. It's funny that JJ is having his Heisman campaign going on but opposing defenses are still saying "grr we gotta stop the run." 2. Defense vs Michigan State Starts at 45:30 Michigan State was simply not ready for the smoke here. Michigan went back to rotating a lot because this was over by the 4th drive. Why are you not blocking Mason Graham or Braiden McGregor? Derrick Moore had a good game by beating tackles. You rotate out Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham comes back out so... how do you beat that? Rod Moore was in on the final drives of the game. Junior Colson played a great game, is he the only weakness on this defense? And if so, how do you approach this defense if he's playing well? 3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 1:05:19 Takes hotter than the seat of whoever put a seemingly innocuous video quiz up on the Michigan State scoreboards. If Michigan switched their offense and defense against Purdue, who should play what position? Clock management at the end of the first half is a point of discussion. Aside from the results, it was one of Jim Harbaugh's best two-minute drills of his career at Michigan. DENTAL PLAN. LISA NEEDS BRACES. We couldn't even get to Segment 4 without having to talk about James Franklin's game theory. 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:25:47 Ohio State - 20 Penn State - 12 Penn State's offense cannot do anything. Ohio State has Marvin Harrison Jr., they win, the end. Penn State only gave up 20 points, was there anything they could have even done differently? Some of Penn State's play calls were incredible stupid, what are you doing, James Franklin? Penn State ran the Tecmo Bowl Flea Flicker but they ran it out of a play they never run. Ohio State backup QB Devin Brown went out of this game so if Kyle McCord gets hurt, who is even the next guy up? Minnesota - 12 Iowa - 10 The funniest and saddest game of the week. Iowa knew their best chance of winning this game was Cooper DeJean getting a punt return and he had an amazing return get called back because he technically waved his hand. Was it easily to interpret that as a fair catch signal? Could Iowa still win the west? Nebraska - 17 Northwestern - 9 Another hideous Big Ten West game, 257 yards to 248. Is Nebraska looking at possibly seven wins this season? It'll be interesting to see what happens when they go against Maryland. Wisconsin - 25 Illinois - 21 Illinois booted this one away. Wisconsin wins off of 18 4th quarter points. Wisconsin might still be the favorite to win the Big Ten West? Rutgers - 31 Indiana - 14 Rutgers is going bowling!! BryMac, we have tickets for you. "Penn State is Iowa with a finished basement." MUSIC: “I Saw The Sign”— Ace Of Base “Signs”— Kodak Black “Signs”— Five Man Acoustical Jam “Across 110th Street”

Offense vs Indiana Starts at 1:00 The first quarter was annoying but no one was ever worried, it ended up being a transitive property victory over Ohio State! “JJ's incompletions” is once again a short segment. “JJ's sacks” are a more interesting conversation. Credit Indiana's defense for playing smart in this one. The offense scores on eight straight drives and that was that. JJ is elite when he has to go off script, exactly what you need to be a national championship contender. How Michigan football is like watching a ferret get drowned by a psychopath. Should Blake Corum be selling the flea flicker more? There were some run block errors. Is AJ Barner actually the best tight end on the team? Benjamin Hall looked great and is an encouraging replacement for Mullings right now. Apparently Semaj Morgan's nickname is "Jukebox", which, yeah. [The rest of the writeup and the player after THE JUMP] 2. Defense vs Indiana Starts at 48:30 This was annoying for a quarter. Linebackers and defensive ends are still not doing great in drop backs. They're practicing their Ohio State defense every week, might as well practice it against Indiana. There was a receiver running wide open on the first interception. Linebacker play wasn't the greatest, Junior Colson doesn't have all the right instincts. Michigan is trying to develop depth by rotating defensive players a lot, this probably goes away against Michigan State. Mike Barrett is a tremendous blitzer. Mason Graham club hand fumble recovery! Can we get a FB Wheel touchdown to Kenneth Grant next year? Sounds like it's ride or die with Josh Wallace at CB2. Rod Moore played good, hopefully he's back to mid-season form. 3. Hot Takes, Game Theory, and Special Teams Starts at 1:11:21 Takes hotter than Marcus Freeman after he defenestrated USC. Is Michigan football listening to this podcast?? Tyler Morris should be the go-to punt returner, Semaj Morgan is the go-to kick returner. KYLE, YOU AGAIN? Going for it on 4th and 2 near the endzone felt like the right thing to do. 4. Around the Big Ten with Jamie Mac Starts at 1:30:11 Rutgers - 27 Michigan State - 24 One of the greatest comebacks in Rutgers football history went mostly unnoticed. Michigan State has Trouble With The Snap. The Situation Trophy is in Piscataway! Michigan State isn't a good team but they always show up for Michigan so Michigan can't have a slow start again. Iowa - 15 Wisconsin - 6 Iowa gains 237 yards, 82 of them on one run. Deacon Hill goes 6/14 for 37 yards. Wisconsin throws the ball 50 times. Iowa has a clear path to the Big Ten title game despite being down a starting QB and their two top tight ends. Their punting is still top notch. Iowa is 10-1 in games where Tory Taylor punts at least 8 times. Illinois - 27 Maryland - 24 We're in the transitive business until it makes us feel bad. Given how Ohio State looked against Maryland, this has to look good for Michigan. Ohio State - 41 Purdue - 7 Purdue, buddy, you can't one-on-one Marvin Harrison. They have Purdue Don Brown as their defensive coordinator. Ohio State might have some concerning depth issues at running back, Trayanum went out with a possible concussion. Cade Stover has stepped up this year. Penn State - 63 UMass - 0 Apparently Penn State just doesn't throw downfield. UMass also got five sacks. Their game against Ohio State might be a rock fight.
