This episode is the introduction to a 3 Part Summer Series on Learning. In this podcast series, Jimmy focuses on the importance of being a learner - specifically what it means to Learn About, Learn For and Learn From our staff and colleagues.
As coaches, it is our desire to reach and help as many people as possible. Having your own podcast is absolutely one of the best and most economical ways to accomplish that. But getting started and maintaining a podcast can be daunting. How exactly does one edit and produce their own show? What kind of equipment should you use? What about editing software? Should you have written show notes?... Frankly, some of us might relish the technical stuff but others of us have absolutely no desire to deal with it. Regardless, we all want to share our expertise and release more hope and love into the world. That's where people like my podcast guy, Daniel Abendroth, come in. He and his wife, Michelle, own Roth Media, LLC, a podcast production company. I wanted to have him on for this episode to help guide anyone who is considering starting their own podcast or possibly looking to do less work to produce their current podcast. Among other points, Daniel and I discuss the benefits of starting a podcast, when it might be the right time to start, how you can lean into your gifts, and how consistency is key. “For coaches, [podcasting is] an amazing tool to grow your business and connect with your audience in a whole different way… From a listener standpoint, there's this weird intimacy. You feel like you're sitting with a friend, chit-chatting or, like, just listening to them talk about something that they're passionate about… It also gets them to know you… whether or not you're the right coach for them.” – Daniel Abendroth What You'll Learn For the love of podcasting What podcasting does for your business When you should consider starting a podcast Lean into your gifts Identify your ideal client Consistency and batching The complexity and time commitment of a successful podcast A few equipment and media source recommendations Contact Info and Recommended Resources Royalty free music sources: MelodyLoops.com and Uppbeat.io Podcast editing software: REAPER Learn how to use REAPER: reaperforpodcasting.com Schedule a FREE consultation with Daniel and his wife, Michelle: rothmedia.audio/schedule/consultation. Roth Media offers podcast editing, production and consultation to make their clients' shows sound smooth and professional, while saving them time and money. When Daniel began his podcasting journey, he wanted his ideas to reach more people. Then while creating his own show, he fell in love with podcast production and wanted to use the skills he'd developed to help others share their ideas. Before long, Daniel discovered how very needed his expertise is. An unfortunate truth became apparent: Most new podcasters simply don't make it. The low barrier to entry allows anybody to start a podcast but very few have the drive to keep going, and even fewer have the ability to handle everything on their own. Thus, Daniel's passion to help coaches and solopreneurs positively impact the world through podcasts was born. As Daniel's journey to improve his own podcast editing skills continued, he also launched Reaper For Podcasting. The editing software, REAPER, is what Daniel uses but he discovered that the learning curve to use it for podcasting, as opposed to music editing, was pretty steep. So he created a channel to share what he's learned so other podcasters can use REAPER more efficiently and effectively. rothmedia.audio Instagram Twitter Facebook Linkedin | Daniel Linkedin | Roth Media Reaperforpodcasting.com Youtube Facebook Reddit Connect with Molly Claire Give Molly a gift! We ALL have upper limits. These are the invisible barriers holding us back from truly stepping into our zone of genius. Happy Anniversary! 1 year ago today I launched the Learn For 2 podcast with 3 pillars and 1 goal in mind. To document my journey to build an international real estate team. To learn with the intent to teach to others To find my voice for those who need it The 1 goal was to do it 5 days a week. 365 days later I have increased my team from a size of 45 to 180, I have taught people how to create their own podcast, and I have shared vulnerable stories that others needed to hear. And by focusing on just 5 episodes a week, I sit here at episode #263 reflecting on what I’ve learned over the last year. I’ve learned how important micro commitments are. I first heard this just over a year ago from Jon Cheplak. By adopting this ideology I only focused on the next episode, instead of the entire 263. I’ve learned that when you make something “non-negotiable” you find a way to do it. I have recorded episodes in my home office, the skate park, my car at my daughter’s soccer practice, and even on the beach in Mexico to make sure that I got it done. I’ve learned that I am still building a legacy and I am still a connector. I've learned it is ok to tell people that everything is NOT perfect and it is ok to let my guard down. I’ve learned that someone “out there” is waiting for you to be vulnerable and share something personal that they may be going through, so they don’t feel alone. I’ve interviewed one of my best friend’s Nick McLean, and learned that even if we think our conversation will only be 25 minutes we will record for an hour and a half. I've learned that depression is even deeper and darker than I thought from Scott Mendell. I’ve learned from Clifford Duvernois that impacting 1 million people is an attainable goal, and I believe 100% that he will accomplish it. I’ve learned that Eric Verdi is on a mission to pull a superhero skill out of each and every person he meets and shine their signal bright into the night sky for those who need it. I’ve learned a ton of things this last year and I have grown both personally and professionally from this experience, but what I’ve learned most is that it is ok to be wrong. It is ok to BE wrong but it is not ok to STAY wrong. I’ve learned that I can change my ideologies and beliefs based on new information. I’ve learned that I don’t need to “double-down” on what I once believed just to be right. I’d rather get it right. I’ve learned that this podcast will be a journal for my kids, grandkids, and really anyone who may need it for years to come. Is it perfect? Not even close, but it’s me and I’ve shared it with you, I’ve shared it with thousands. One year later I’ve realized this… I will continue to grow. I will continue to change. I will continue to be wrong. I will continue to evolve. I will continue to become. Because when I stop continuing doing all of these things, I will not continue at all. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message
Here it is. Episode #200 “You Need To Start Coming From A Place Of Contribution” While I sat in a crowd of 1,000+ people conference in Dallas in March of 2019, I felt as if I were the only one in the room. As Brent Gove was speaking these words from the stage, I couldn’t help but feel that he was speaking directly to me. It really couldn’t have come at a better time, this was something I needed to hear. At the time, I was focused on building my International Real Estate team. It was going well, but there was one major flaw… I was only focused on myself and “what’s in it for ME”. How could I build MY organization? How could “I” grow faster? How could “I” benefit most? But when Brent said those words, I felt like a spotlight was shining on me, telling me that is was time to contribute in some way. Accepting that mission, I needed to figure out how I would contribute to others, in a positive way. Then it hit me! I love to learn, and I love to share what I’ve learned with others. Sometimes if they want to listen to me or not. So I decided to create a podcast that I would record every Monday through Friday and consist of 3 pillars. Learn with the intent to teach to others. Document my journey to build an international real estate team. Find my voice for those needing to hear it. With that in mind, the Learn For 2 podcast was born. Combined with Brent’s inspiration to come from a place of contribution, and Jon Cheplak’s philosophy of micro-commitments, here I sit at 200 episodes. 200 was never the goal. It is just a result of a micro-commitment that I made to myself, and a shift in mindset, to start… Coming from a place of contribution. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message

I am very excited to announce that I have added an interview series to my Learn For 2 podcast. Originally, the idea was to share my own journey while sharing with others what I learned in the process. But after 138 solo episodes I decided that I needed to help share the journeys of others, especially those who have impacted directly. Like my good friend Clifford Duvernois, the host of the "Path To 1 Million” Podcast/Vlog. When I decided to add interviews to my podcast, I knew Cliff had to be my first interview. He has inspired me to keep up with my daily(M-F) podcast and has encouraged me along the way. His willingness to share with others, not only the ups, but the downs as well. He is true, authentic, and vulnerable. Allowing the world to see who he is. He has no doubt that his mission is to impact 1 million people through his stories. And I have no doubt that he will. Honestly, I think it will be many more. I am very honored that Cliff agreed to do the very 1st interview for the Learn For 2 podcast. I started The Learn For 2 Podcast for 3 main reasons: 1) To document my journey of building an international real estate team. 2) To learn with the intent to teach to others. 3) To find my voice for those who need to hear it. I received this message over the weekend after a listener heard last Friday’s episode that resonated with them. "Bro, you are such a good speaker. Just off that little podcast you motivated me" It came as validation and motivation to continue with this micro-commitment that I have made. This was the episode he was referring to: https://overcast.fm/+TL4P--vJ4 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message

“Frustration" Why are we always sold on how great everything is? Rarely ever does anyone share the struggles of what it takes to get where you want to go. It is always a before and after photo. Either after losing 30lbs or a rags to riches, “how I went from selling 1 home per year to this photo of me standing next to a private jet” I get that everyone loves an underdog story, I’m no different. I love seeing people overcome obstacles too. But the disservice to those watching is that they are filled with false hope and beliefs that it happens overnight. It doesn’t prepare them for the true struggle they are about to embark on. That is why I started the “Learn For 2” podcast. To document the journey I am on to help real estate agents transition into the next stage of their career, and do it comfortably. Part of the process for me to do this is to create a system that can be duplicated by any agent that is ready to come onboard. As I have seen it used in other industries, I have yet to see it in the real estate industry. That means I have a limited amount of people that I can emulate, also meaning, I will have to take the brunt of the trial and error. But, this is something that I signed up for. I know there are going to be ups and downs during the process and I’m ready for them. The past few weeks have been mostly filled with “ups”. Since starting the podcast I’ve gone from 45 partners to partnering with 57 agents from around the country and Canada. And… it has been awesome! But as I continue to grow the team and put the processes in place to get this system as perfect and duplicatable as possible, I’m bound to run into some down days. Today is one of those days. Nothing seems to be going as planned. One of the major pieces to the system went down and I have been dealing with it, trying to get it fixed or I can’t efficiently communicate with other agents the way the system is designed. Then, an email comes across my phone that makes me feel like it is just taking too long, “Am I really that far behind?" “I want to move faster” Then the self-doubt kicks in, “Am I even good enough to make this work?”, putting me into a funk. Making it even harder to get anything done. In most cases I would have waited until I overcame this to share with others. Joking about how it wasn’t that bad and say, “Hey! everything is great now" But that goes against what this podcast is all about. If I only shared the highlights of the journey it wouldn’t be real, it wouldn’t be authentic. The struggles are just as important as successes when it comes to the growth throughout the process. Even though I’ve had a great few weeks in a row, every now and again I’m going to face a “down” day or 2. The important part is to keep going, and to not give in to the… Frustration --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message
