What is the single most important factor to a real estate business' growth? Is it having the best leads? Or having the best sales managers on the planet? How about having the most amazing systems and tech? While having all these would be great, none of them would matter if you don't have people. That is why focusing on human resource, human development, and human attraction is crucial for scaling a real estate business. Brian Charlesworth joins Jon Cheplak, Real Estate Broker/Agent Speaker, Coach and Consultant at Cheplak Live and CEO of The Real Recruiter as Jon shares how he discovered that his superpower is understanding human behavior and what it takes to be a true leader. He observed managers were thrown into a leadership position without proper training. The few training that existed then never focused on the growth of the leader as a human being and discovered what got in the way of their success. Through his own growth process, Jon realized that growth has to come from the inside. Managers need to develop skills, but without doing the work on the inside first, results will fail to show on the outside. This was when The Real Estate Recruiters was born. It is a company designed to serve, lead, and inspire leaders that want to have a positive life experience in the real estate industry and transfer that experience to their agents. For the last 12 years, Jon Cheplak has served as a speaker, coach, and strategic leadership consultant to CEO's, managers, and agents who are operating a highly successful real estate business throughout the US, Canada and Europe. He is also an author in numerous publications including Real Estate South Africa, REM Online, CRB Magazine, Brokers Insider, Real Estate Professional, Realty Times, Frogpond, and author of the book Interrupt The Pattern.

As 2021 comes to a close, we invite you to reflect on your year as we revisit one of our most popular episodes of 2021. Take this time to reflect on how you did in 2021. Where were you most successful? What were some areas for improvement that you can tackle in 2022?Jon Cheplak joins Adam again on this episode to share his insights and provide a bit of long-distance coaching to Win Nation at the dawn of the new year. Jon talks about the difference between innovation and mastery, saying that while innovators receive praise in our society, they are not known for consistency or follow-through. To achieve mastery, you must have the discipline to handle the monotony that comes with immediate action, personal responsibility, and consistency. He says freedom comes from putting restrictions on yourself to make you stay focused and not be distracted by novelty. To become excited about the process instead of the outcomes, Jon says you should be mission-based and have clarity on your relationship with money. When you understand these two things about yourself, you feel the weight of the requirement to perform, and you are well on your way to setting up micro-commitments to reach your goals. Tiny hinges swing big doors. When it comes to finding alignment and knowing where to start, Jon walks through three topics: What makes you happy? – Spend some time writing down your thoughts. What is the smallest step you can take to move yourself towards that happiness? – Be conscious of the positive triggers, including the things you should say “no” to reach happiness. If you are struggling to see the next step, extend love to other people and see where that gets you. What are the people, places, and things that do (or do not) support your mission? – Take inventory and let go of the judgment of others and the fear of their opinions. Trust is built on consistency. Leaders are the people who stand out regardless of the judgments of others. Jon encourages listeners to think of gratitude as an action word and to see everything as a privilege. Consider whether you are demonstrating gratitude in your daily life and interactions with others. I looked myself in the mirror and asked myself “what’s one thing holding me back from hitting my goals”Now something I’ve learned is being supercritical and REAL when I look myself in the mirrorAnd the answer was simple....Drinking was holding me back from hitting the next level of my lifeThese last 5 months I’ve been waking up earlier, more clarity and focus than ever beforeMy workflow does not break its routine anymore and it keeps me in RHYTHMWhen I make decisions I always look for a model to follow... someone that is doing something at a high level that I can relate toAnd recently I was actually able to thank him privately... now I’d like to thank him publiclyThank you Jon Cheplak for showing the path for success for my next chapterAnd I’ll let you what... it’s been the sanest decision now that I look back on it

Happy Anniversary! 1 year ago today I launched the Learn For 2 podcast with 3 pillars and 1 goal in mind. To document my journey to build an international real estate team. To learn with the intent to teach to others To find my voice for those who need it The 1 goal was to do it 5 days a week. 365 days later I have increased my team from a size of 45 to 180, I have taught people how to create their own podcast, and I have shared vulnerable stories that others needed to hear. And by focusing on just 5 episodes a week, I sit here at episode #263 reflecting on what I’ve learned over the last year. I’ve learned how important micro commitments are. I first heard this just over a year ago from Jon Cheplak. By adopting this ideology I only focused on the next episode, instead of the entire 263. I’ve learned that when you make something “non-negotiable” you find a way to do it. I have recorded episodes in my home office, the skate park, my car at my daughter’s soccer practice, and even on the beach in Mexico to make sure that I got it done. I’ve learned that I am still building a legacy and I am still a connector. I've learned it is ok to tell people that everything is NOT perfect and it is ok to let my guard down. I’ve learned that someone “out there” is waiting for you to be vulnerable and share something personal that they may be going through, so they don’t feel alone. I’ve interviewed one of my best friend’s Nick McLean, and learned that even if we think our conversation will only be 25 minutes we will record for an hour and a half. I've learned that depression is even deeper and darker than I thought from Scott Mendell. I’ve learned from Clifford Duvernois that impacting 1 million people is an attainable goal, and I believe 100% that he will accomplish it. I’ve learned that Eric Verdi is on a mission to pull a superhero skill out of each and every person he meets and shine their signal bright into the night sky for those who need it. I’ve learned a ton of things this last year and I have grown both personally and professionally from this experience, but what I’ve learned most is that it is ok to be wrong. It is ok to BE wrong but it is not ok to STAY wrong. I’ve learned that I can change my ideologies and beliefs based on new information. I’ve learned that I don’t need to “double-down” on what I once believed just to be right. I’d rather get it right. I’ve learned that this podcast will be a journal for my kids, grandkids, and really anyone who may need it for years to come. Is it perfect? Not even close, but it’s me and I’ve shared it with you, I’ve shared it with thousands. One year later I’ve realized this… I will continue to grow. I will continue to change. I will continue to be wrong. I will continue to evolve. I will continue to become. Because when I stop continuing doing all of these things, I will not continue at all. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message

Here it is. Episode #200 “You Need To Start Coming From A Place Of Contribution” While I sat in a crowd of 1,000+ people conference in Dallas in March of 2019, I felt as if I were the only one in the room. As Brent Gove was speaking these words from the stage, I couldn’t help but feel that he was speaking directly to me. It really couldn’t have come at a better time, this was something I needed to hear. At the time, I was focused on building my International Real Estate team. It was going well, but there was one major flaw… I was only focused on myself and “what’s in it for ME”. How could I build MY organization? How could “I” grow faster? How could “I” benefit most? But when Brent said those words, I felt like a spotlight was shining on me, telling me that is was time to contribute in some way. Accepting that mission, I needed to figure out how I would contribute to others, in a positive way. Then it hit me! I love to learn, and I love to share what I’ve learned with others. Sometimes if they want to listen to me or not. So I decided to create a podcast that I would record every Monday through Friday and consist of 3 pillars. Learn with the intent to teach to others. Document my journey to build an international real estate team. Find my voice for those needing to hear it. With that in mind, the Learn For 2 podcast was born. Combined with Brent’s inspiration to come from a place of contribution, and Jon Cheplak’s philosophy of micro-commitments, here I sit at 200 episodes. 200 was never the goal. It is just a result of a micro-commitment that I made to myself, and a shift in mindset, to start… Coming from a place of contribution. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message

In one of my previous Inman articles, I wrote about how losing my top agent spurred me into action to restructure my organization and build it up to the point where we eventually placed # 3 on the local business journal's list of Best Companies to work for. What I didn't mention at the time, was that one huge part of this transformation was being introduced to Jon Cheplak, the elite coach who teaches others how to recruit the best talent and build a company culture where agent's thrive. Today I had the pleasure of interviewing him for the Realty Hack podcast, check it out now.
Finding our WHY is typically something that we are told to do in order to grow. However, sometimes a WHY can be overwhelming, causing us to "shut-down" because we are not sure where to start with such a big task in front of us. But if we started with micro-commitments, some small action that we can take now, we can move forward immediately, This also allows us to detach from the outcome. When we can attach to the process, we can ensure we are taking action. Jon Cheplak has a great video on this: http://bit.ly/2QabWAS --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/learn-for-2/message

As business leaders, we tend to think of setbacks as private issues that need to be separate from our work lives. Is it possible to stop personal setbacks and challenges from affecting our teams’ productivity? Do we need to add more systems to our businesses in order to combat individual fears? On this episode, sought-after Real Estate speaker and coach, Jon Cheplak shares how we can overcome setbacks and turn them into positives. Doubling down on your personal development is the solution to business growth. -Jon Cheplak Takeaways + Tactics Remember that human beings are flawed by nature, and we all experience setbacks. No matter how skilled we are in the science of business, every one of our team members has experiences that shape their daily lives. Stop adding layers of systems to our businesses. Instead, we need to dive deeper into our emotions to develop ourselves and our team members. We need to embrace our past experiences. Without embracing our past, we can’t move forward. At the start of the episode, we acknowledged that all people go through traumas in life. We talked about the way we deal with our past traumas and how it shapes our future behaviors and actions. To be successful and enable our teams to be successful, we need to embrace every part of ourselves, even the parts impacted by trauma. We also shared insights on: How emotions can be a choice The importance of overcoming fear Why gratitude is not a feeling, but an action We’ve often been told our business and personal lives need to be separate, but that belief is unrealistic. Our personal lives influence the way we see the world, and no amount of effective business systems can combat the effects of traumas we’ve faced throughout our lives. We need to start looking deeper into ourselves, rather than add layers of systems that will only suffocate us further. Let me give you a hint: what are some of the most-watched TV shows? If you take a close look at ratings, you'll find that most of the top TV shows out there are in the genre of reality TV, and it's not going away anytime soon. Your social media channels are a form of reality TV! Best part, people love reality TV, and love connecting with you and your story. That's how your clients and leads connect with you. They see what you do, get to know you, and keep you in mind when they are ready to buy or sell a house! But did you know that most people spend way too much time planning instead of doing? Instead of posting, they make plans to post, or complain about their lack of fancy equipment. “It didn't work,” they say, when looking at social media strategies they have tried. Problem is, they didn't give it time to work! If you post a few times a week, sporadically, it won't have time to work. The biggest elements that any social media strategy needs to succeed is time and consistency. None of the reality TV shows that are on the air today were “perfect” when they started, and they aren't perfect even now. But they are on the air because the producers kept pushing onward, and consistently creating content. In the words of Jon Cheplak, consistency is going to give you a victory. Victory gives you confidence. Confidence gives you momentum, and momentum's unstoppable. Are you ready to get your reality TV started? Jon Cheplak is here on this episode of #REalAdvice to help inspire you to stop planning how you're going to attract clients, and get yourself out there with your own “reality TV channel”!
One of the easiest ways to jeopardize your company’s productivity is by hiring the wrong team. How can you avoid this mistake? What can you do to make sure you’re hiring the best people for the job? On this episode, I talk with one of the world’s most sought-after real estate consultants, Jon Cheplak, who has developed systems around human development, and he shares how we can build high-performing teams for our businesses. Three Things We Learned From This Episode Approach your business from a human perspective Don’t view your business as a real estate company. Your focus should be on the agents working for you, and their specific human needs. Being invested in your team’s experiences and wellbeing will hugely benefit your retention and growth. Pay attention to how you hire You want to hire the best agents for your company. The way to do this is by advertising positions on a separate webpage. Agents are likely to spend 400 times longer on a careers-based website, and spend most of that time looking at the training and business proposals you provide. Take advantage of these facts and offer as much value as possible. Your admin person is the most important person in your office While you may be the CEO, you are not the most important person at your company. The person working in administration has a finger on the pulse of your company’s culture. They’re a huge part of your retention and recruiting, so make sure you’ve hired the right person for the job. Meet Courtney "Coco" Osborne. Being a new member of a real estate team, she had some early success and then began to struggle in sales due to her complacency and lack of sticking to the "plan" and working the sales system. After some financial hardship, Courtney was triggered to make some changes. Using some self-reflection she began to take ownership of what she was doing wrong, owned up to her responsibility in the things that she was not doing, and just kept moving forward. With the help of her supportive team, team leader, and the implementation of a new accountability system, Coco righted the ship and ended the year in the Top 10 of the company. Courtney's journey is a solid case for how being on a real estate team built with purpose and intention can create a culture of accountability and productivity to motivate and inspire everyone on the team. The Big Questions: > What it the benefit of sales coaching and accountability partners? > What immediate steps can a salesperson take to turn around a couple of slow quarters completely? > What is the best way to keep steady and consistent sales? > What's the number one thing you can do to make sure that 2019 is your best year in real estate? > What is a public declaration and how can it help with closings and be the team member and producer you can be? > How can an agent increase their social media "celebrity" without fear, anxiety, and tons of hassle?
