Once upon a time, deep in a dense forest, there lived a young boy named Jack. Jack was an adventurous child who loved nothing more than exploring the vast wilderness that surrounded his small village. One autumn evening, as the wind began to howl and the leaves fell from the trees, Jack decided to spend the night in the forest. He packed a small bag with some food and a blanket, and set out into the woods. As he walked, the sound of the wind rustling through the trees grew louder and more intense. The leaves, now brittle and dry, crunched underfoot as Jack made his way deeper into the forest. The night birds sang their eerie songs, adding to the symphony of the wilderness. After several hours of walking, Jack came upon a clearing and decided that it would be the perfect spot to set up camp for the night. He spread out his blanket and laid down, gazing up at the stars that peeked through the treetops. As he drifted off to sleep, Jack could hear the howling wind and the whispering leaves all around him. The night birds called out to each other, and a distant owl hooted in the night. But as the night went on, Jack began to hear strange noises. They sounded like whispers and faint footsteps. He thought it could be just the wind, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that someone or something was watching him. He tried to ignore the noises and went back to sleep, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. He eventually got up, built a fire and stayed awake until the sun risen. The next morning, Jack packed up his things and headed back to his village. He told everyone about his strange experience in the forest, but no one could explain the noises he had heard. From that night on, Jack never ventured into the forest at night again. But he never forgot the strange and mysterious noises that he had heard, and the feeling of being watched in the darkness of the woods. Years passed, Jack grew old and eventually passed away, but his adventure in the forest that night was always remembered, and often retold to the village children, who were warned never to sleep in the forest on a night with howling winds and falling leaves. When I was a kid, my two cousin who were about 10 years older than I would always have parties in the basement like most people in Chicago. During this time, (the 70's) most albums would come with posters especially The Ohio Players and Parliament Funkadelic. My cousins always had them hung on the walls along with Black Light posters. You know the ones with neon colors and velvet. Everybody had the one with the zodiac signs & sexual positions. It would get pretty dark in the basement so they would screw in black, red and blue lights. I have very fond memories of those days. Although these were pre-house days, this where my love for dance music began. My cousins would play mostly Soul, R & B and Fun with some soulful disco (like Donna Summers) thrown in. I still can smell the incense (and weed lol) and see the flashing strobe lights. I can still see the Black light posters in the foggy basement and all the hands up in the air. I thanks my cousins for letting there little cuz hang out with them. Those times were magical! That was one of the few places my father would let me go anyway lol. Many years have past since those days and I making magic in my own basement now. Although the music from that time is classic and remains in my collection, I constantly searching for new music and pushing the boundaries of what I do. It is rumored the the term “deep house” was coined because you had to reach deep into you record crates to come up with those tunes. So This week I went ingot he basement and reached deep into my virtual music crate to come up with the playlist and subsequent mix set. I hope you dig it! peace and love Family! 1. Nocturnes 3.0   Third and most probably last instalment of the Nocturnes series. Keeping up with the nightly vibe with some cheeky edits and my first original mash-up with “It’s You I Touch”. If you feel like having a laugh scroll to 58:46.. The added sample is priceless.. Best way I can describe the final set is as an attempt to blend Deep with Progressive house with a NYC undercurrent vibe. HVOB   Highlights Bar “Cooler Couleur », which is the only weak track and here because of the french accent sample, all tracks in the playlist are worth running to Beatport and Traxsource and paying for the original versions. “It’s You I Touch” is my first real attempt at a mash-up. "Touch" by Buraq & Patrick Podage vs. "It’s You" by FCL. I hope someone with real talent will pick up what is a good idea and make it great… Because those 2 tracks are begging for it. ”Leaves Falling” progressive trancy track with a Balearic tinge. It reminds me of early Chicane and Café del mar. “Sky in Your Eyes” you will recognize the main pads line and it will take you back! “Going Crazy” and “Start Again”, two solid tunes, with great male vocals and perfection of a bass line.. “No Eyes” from Claptone, with “Follow The Step”, the real gem of the set. I love the bass line, the production is beyond reproach, deep, sexy, progressive… Into “Follow The Step”, which was the discovery of the Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC), I am not sure I am giving the tune the credit it deserves and I will came back to it further down the road. Fairly satisfied with my 2 edits of “Black Room Boy” and “Let’s Play” giving them the NYC remix treatment with a Kev Cruz sample I hope put to good use. “All Cats Are Grey”, if you are an adult check the tune (starting at 58:46) you will have a laugh.. I stumbled on the Ed Weather sample a few months ago.. Priceless.. Finishing with "Spectra" and "Moon", 2 fantastic progressive gems... I may start the following progressive mix with "Spectra" to give the tune a bit more exposure. Not quite sure where I will go next, most probably soulful or if I have the time I will prepare an edit set for some freinds of mine dropping in over the weekend.. We shall see. In the meantime..
