The KANSAS KIDS episode! Morgan is from Wichita, Kansas and when she was 23-years-old she moved away from the only place and people she ever knew to chase a dream in Nashville. Her own dream chasing inspired this episode with fellow Kansans, songwriter Nicolle Galyon and country artist Logan Mize. Nicolle and Logan also moved away from Kansas to chase dreams in Nashville. They opened up about their experiences from being judged for moving away, how they handled the transition, if the move was ever not worth it to how Nashville AND Kansas played significant roles in each of their lives. On this episode of Roger the Wild Child Show: Nashville edition, we are joined by county-gospel singer/songwriter Cynthia Rausch!CYNTHIA RAUSCHHer parents met in a band in her dad's home state of Texas. They fell in love and got married then continued to travel and perform together for several years after, before settling down in Dallas Texas and starting a family. Cynthia's dad ended up joining the Navy right before Cynthia was born and served faithfully while his family moved from location to location in true military family style. Cynthia still remembers many trips to Wichita Falls to visit her MawMaw during that time. After her dad left the military, her parents picked up their instruments again and started using their gifts in the local church where their family attended. Cynthia's parents continued adding to the family and eventually there were 8 children in all, with Cynthia being 3rd oldest. At age 14 Cynthia went through a very dark time with her mental health and general overall health. She began struggling with addiction and suicidal tendencies and overdosed at the age of 15, but by the grace of God, she survived. Cynthia is unafraid to share her story of what God did that September night, in hopes of encouraging anyone else with depression and thoughts of suicide. "It is never the answer. You are just ridding the world of the joy of knowing the unique person God made you to be." Says Cynthia. "Please reach out to someone, getting help isn't weakness, it is the strongest and bravest thing you could ever do. And please don't fall for the lie that you aren't loved and valuable. You are. God loves you and so do I." After that night, she found a sudden desire to start learning guitar and singing. Almost immediately after she started playing and singing, she started writing music and pretty soon she was writing the music for her developing family band.Cynthia realized that playing music helped with her mental health and started advocating through her music for others struggling in the same way. Helping others struggling with depression and anxiety had become a focal point of her music. And she continues to focus on that to this day. Around that same time, her siblings started learning to play instruments too, and pretty soon the whole family began to travel and play music for churches, city events and fairs. They traveled from Missouri to Texas and everywhere in between. During this time Cynthia's gospel roots took on a more country flare and she embraced it. After meeting her husband in 2010 and starting a family of her own, her family band disbanded, but Cynthia fondly recalls the many memories and joys of traveling with her family band. And she cherishes the lessons and values instilled in her life because of them. With her 5th single "Abracadabra" currently out to radio, following her successful top 20 single "What The Whiskey Gave You", Cynthia is taking on the country music scene with joyful gusto. Her love of people and the power of music gives her a drive to bring hope to every listener and show them how much God loves them. Cynthia has shared the stage with several amazing well-known names, including Logan Mize, 90's band Ricochet, Matt Stell, Jerrod Nieman and was nominated as "New Female Vocalist of the Year" in 2022 with the T3R awards. Even though she wasn't a finalist, she was honored to even be considered at all by her fans. She also had the honor of performing at the Sunday night "Future Faces Show" at Texas LIVE in Arlington, Tx prior to the Texas Regional Radio Awards show 2022.

THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast
Today on The Troubadour I visit with Hays, KS native and K-State alum, turned Nashville transplant, Blake Chaffin. Soon after graduating college Blake made the journey to Music City USA and started piecing together what has today become not only a admirable career as a songwriter, but also a successful career as an entrepreneur with a business he built from the ground up. As a songwriter, Blake gutted it out in Nashville while honing his craft leading him to eventually secure a multi year publishing. He has went on to write with established and well known songwriters like Mark D. Sanders and Robert Earl Keen, as well as successful artists like Brantley Gilbert, Dustin Lynch and Logan Mize. Blake can easily be described as a prolific songwriter, penning over 120 new songs in 2017 alone. In this interview Blake exhibits just how important developing relationships with other people in the industry is and can be. Blake’s work ethic and approach to the craft of songwriting is something to be respected and should serve as an example for aspiring writers looking to succeed in a sea of competition. www.thetroubadourpodcast.com www.facebook.com/thetroubadourpodcast www.instagram.com/thetroubadourpodcast/ twitter: @thetroubadourP1
Whiskey & Cigarettes Interview W/Logan Mize by DJ Nik
Born and raised in Kansas, Logan Mize played football for Illinois Southern University but skipped practices on Mondays to drive down to Nashville to play open mics at the Blue Bird Café. Since making Nashville his home in 2006, he has toured the country in his beloved station wagon “Glenn” writing and releasing music along the way. From his early days of using a fake booking agent (a former band mate) to book gigs, Logan evolved to using his social media prowess to allow his fans to book a 40-date tour which he documented via social media. Tune in to Ep. 65 of #NHCD to hear a killer live acoustic performance of his song about a cheating ex-girlfriend, “Have a Good Life” and catch @LoganMize at http://www.loganmize.com/.In my 15 years living in Nashville, I have been fortunate to watch a lot of friends like Kip Moore, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, A Thousand Horses, Michael Ray and more, start their journeys with a back pack and a dream and end up being a huge success in country music.Yet the most frustrating part about being a friend and a fan to not just artist, but writers like Corey Crowder, Justin Weaver, Rick Huckaby, Westin Davis and many more, has been hearing amazing songs that will never leave the Nashville city limits.Nashville Hits Collecting Dust" is a casual, entertaining hangout with friends telling stories, giving valuable advice, and playing great songs that otherwise would still be sitting in a database. My guest are pure entrepreneurs that are living out their dream of being artist and full time songwriters.Hear more at donaldjenkinsnow.com and @donaldsjenkins
Brandon and Jason revisit The Big Yellow Dog office on Music Row to have a conversation with Daniel Tashian. Daniel is a singer, songwriter, artist, and producer based out of Nashville. It’s astounding to find out Daniel’s navigation through the music industry as a writer, and what’s even more shocking was his age of getting shopped around for a publishing deal. But Daniel is no newb in the music industry. Daniel’s father was in the infamous band The Remains. The guides and Daniel take a trip through Daniel’s childhood to figure out how he himself was influenced by his family and the musicians that were around his childhood. Fast forward to the present, Daniel has cuts with artists like Chris Lane, Charles Kelly, Lee Ann Womack, Matt Wertz, Eli Young Band, Logan Mize, Amy Stroup, Billy Currington, and Martina McBride. Josh Turners newest single, “Hometown Girl” was co-written by our survival expert. Not to mention his film and TV placements with shows like Breaking Bad, Private Practice, and Heart of Dixie to name a few. He recently even produced Trent Dabbs’ newest record, The Optimist. In this episode the guides tackle his experience with getting a publishing deal and the twists and turns of navigating what’s hot at that moment, how he approaches writing a song, and even how to write music to pitch. You also get a glimpse in what’s going on with the Silver Seas, Daniel’s project, and what is to come. Remember, that Tashian…Sounds Like Passion. Thanks as always to Fat Bottom Brewing. Thanks to Tom Hemby for supplying this weeks music.
