Concierto/Viernes Temáticos: Música visual (I). Amanecer con la música antigua. . Today we premiere some jazz soaked house from Jon Dixon, with vocals from Detroits own Kenny Watson. Glistening soulful house music never goes out of fashion, and Jon Dixon latest EP on 4EVR 4WRD captures jazz submerged house at its purest. Jon Dixon's latest EP, Vocal Sessions Vol.1 is comprised of two original deep house jams featuring Detroit vocalists L'Renee and Kenny Watson, as well as a remix by Jimpster and an edit by Jon under his MinorInvention alias. Released on vinyl as well as digital on September 9th, the digital version will include the Brixton Remix as a bonus track. Jon Dixon is one of the city's most sought-after musicians for every genre ranging from jazz to techno. He believes that the more versatile and open minded you are at your craft, the further it will take you. In 2015 he started an independent label, 4EVR 4WRD (Forever Forward) to focus on making electronic music fused with elements of jazz, hip hop and other styles of music. Jon has had the opportunity to not only lead the Underground Resistance live acts Galaxy 2 Galaxy and Timeline, but has also performed with Interstellar Fugitives, Amp Fiddler, Jeff Mills, Mike Banks, Francesco Tristano, Carl Craig, Goldie and more. “I feel that it is important for me as a musician to not only continue the rich culture and history of both jazz and electronic music but to also use my knowledge, theory and experience to combine the two and take both genres to the next level!” Dixon's and Kenny Watson's collaboration is coruscating deep house in its slickest and purest form. Deep and winding bass lays the foundation for sparkling jazz influenced strings and diminished grooves. Watson's vocals are deep, eloquent and profoundly Detroit. This is irresistible house music, for purist's, novices and those who simply appreciate good music. Moin Alle! Da sind wir wieder und hören Musik. Diesmal 'On Early Music' von Francesco Tristano, 'Two Ribbons' von Let's Eat Grandma und 'Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky' von Porridge Radio.

Panelists:The vocal pop duo Outcalls has been dubbed the “electronic opera queens” of Baltimore. Led by Britt Olsen-Ecker and Melissa Wimbish, both classically trained musicians, Outcalls creates genre-defying pop music that counters the tired narratives pervading much of today’s popular songs. With compelling live shows that feature melodic and harmonic surprises, their voices can tickle your ear hairs one second and shake your teeth the next. Combining ethereal vocals with robust electronic rhythms, Outcalls has created their own genre: a sort of Baroque operatic indie-pop. Their masterful sopranos fuse into lush harmonies that lilt about energetic beats and linger in your ears long after they're gone. You can listen to Outcalls' music on Spotify, Apple Music, and outcalls.bandcamp.comHailed as a "renaissance woman" by Urbanite Magazine, Britt Olsen-Ecker has taken Baltimore and beyond by storm as a multi-talented performer and photographer. She has photographed over 1,000 faces from portraits to weddings to food all over the world. As a performer, Britt has been hailed by her "impressive" and "captivating" roles on stage both as an actor and singer. She has worked with several companies in Baltimore, including the Acme Corporation and Single Carrot Theatre. She recently appeared in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s production of Hindemith’s “Sancta Susanna” as the maid, under the baton of Maestra Marin Alsop. She brought Libby Larsen’s The Birth Project. In the world-premiere of Josephine with UrbanArias, The Washington Post gushed, “... the afternoon belonged to Melissa Wimbish, who was creating the role of Josephine Baker ... Beautifully prepared, vocally stunning, and theatrically riveting, Wimbish effortlessly held the audience in her hand throughout this one-woman show.” Melissa made her Carnegie Hall solo recital debut as a result of winning the Grand Prize NATS Artist Award. Other career highlights include György Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre with Baltimore Symphony, the world-premiere of Paul’s Case with UrbanArias at the Prototype Festival, and Carmina Burana with Washington Ballet. DEE WASHINGTON (aka Ajhenda, Wiggle Factor / Atlanta) Dee Washington (@ajhenda_official) began DJing at the age of 12 and he's still at it more than two decades later. Dee has been based in Atlanta for the past 19 years, minus a small hiatus in Philadelphia. In 2010 he helped spawn the Atlanta-based collective Wiggle Factor to help move the city’s dancefloor culture in a region not known for supporting its techno sounds. Wiggle Factor's mission continues to evolve in different ways in 2018. The art form of DJing and sharing music is Dee's current focus. This mix is a journey that travels to the corners of Deep Space and back to life (back to reality) on Planet Earth, his home in Atlanta, and the dancefloor. Keep an open mind and enjoy the ride. Welcome to the Decisive Podcast Guest Mix Series Leah Floyeurs Please be sure to listen to the whole interview. The Podcast will be out now with the interview and one week later without the interview on Soundcloud. So we give you enough time to learn more about the person behind the music. As we know, the scene has been dominated from male artists as long as we can remember. But there are quite a lot of really great female artists that we would like to present to you in the future. This time Leah Floyeurs will be the fourth female artist on the show. I chatted with Leah Floyeurs over the weekend about what makes her tick. The London based musician which was raised and born in Australia was actually trying to start a career as a journalist In 1993 she moved from Australia to the UK and worked in a recordstore and as a pianist. But somehow in 1993 a party has changed the course of her plan and she never moved back to her hometown Brisbane / Australis. In 1996 / 97 she started playing records in London and after a short period of time , also in several countries far outside the UK. In 2011 she finally quit her full-time job and put her focus on the music. She’s been inspired by artists like Marc Forshaw, John Heckle ,Heiroglyphic Being,Shackleton,Eduardo de la Calle, Fred P, Franklin de Costa and Grimes In the same year she launched her own radioshow called “Leah with sound” at Timeline Music for the past 5 years. Leah is a very open minded artist with a wide range of genre. She is a resident on the well known Freerotation festival at Hay-on-Wyein in the UK. And also a resident at the club 50 arc in London. In cooperation with DJ Alison Marks, she had already released under the name “Wallflower! on the Italian label Rebirth Records and has already been remixed by Larry Heard. Bruce Brubaker and Francesco Tristano are two virtuoso pianists from very different musical backgrounds. Brubaker is an American experimentalist known for his performances of music by John Adams, Meredith Monk and, especially, Philip Glass. Brubaker's former student, the Luxembourg musician Francesco Tristano, splits his time between concert-hall performances of J.S. Bach and Luciano Berio and club shows of beat-driven electronic dance music. On The Glass Piano Versions the two longtime friends mix their influences with Philip Glass’s piano works, infusing the music with free improvisation, ambient and live electronic beats. We join the two pianists to discuss the genesis and ideas behind The Glass Piano Versions before taking in a live performance at Le Poisson Rouge. Download Bruce Brubaker and Francesco Tristano performing the Glass Piano Versions as part of Season Two of LPR Live, with host John Schaefer. Listen to trailblazing new music performed live at Le Poisson Rouge, and enjoy interactions with artists and audience members. Subscribe to LPR Live on iTunes or wherever you get your podcasts.
The first bars are reminiscent of a film score: a lonesome whistle like in an Italian western, sparingly placed tones like in a film noir. A high-pitched child’s voice calls out to us, “Clap Your Hands.” Lasting not even 50 seconds, ‘Mikado’ is the scene-setting first track from Double Fantasy, a foreword for an artist album of a truly special nature. Although its protagonists have been an integral part of the international electronic scene for over fifteen years, this is – somewhat unbelievably – their first album. Friends since boyhood, Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung – better known as M.A.N.D.Y. – first formed at the Monza Club in Frankfurt. Originally an energetic DJ-collective with house music at their core, it wasn’t long before they started making music, with a 2001 remix for French Formation Galleon standing as their debut. Dozens of other records followed, not last their celebrated ‘Body Language’, arguably the definitive club record of 2005 and one you’ll still hear frequently to this day. Bodmer and Jung are hard party-workers. They love to travel and entertain. With their studio buddies Booka Shade and DJ T., they founded their own label Get Physical, still viewed as one of the world’s most influential. Here, their understanding of sound — beyond their own work— found a solid home. Just like their parties, M.A.N.D.Y. stands for continuous commitment and free thought. Out of their exhilarating soundscapes, avant-garde cathedrals rise. A tried and tested team both behind the decks and in the studio, M.A.N.D.Y.’s roots are in the old school sounds of early electronic music, hip-hop and electro, influences they return to once again on Double Fantasy. “Of course we had the idea to make an official M.A.N.D.Y. album a long time ago” says Jung. “But we did not want a stapled-together snapshot. After all, we were and are on the road worldwide pretty much constantly. So the endeavour took a little bit longer than expected”. Bodmer adds, “In a career, it’s expected to release a long-format as soon as possible. For us, it was not the most important thing in the universe!” It was from a pool of around 50 compositions that M.A.N.D.Y. chose twelve songs for Double Fantasy. And yes, their classic ‘Body Language’ is also back, of course, in a newly reworked version for 2016. The production was supported and accompanied by their long-time companion Stefan Eichinger (aka Lopazz) who as an accomplished mixmaster and engineer took care of the polished studio-cut. The selection of international guest-artists highlights M.A.N.D.Y.’s broad array of styles. During the ghostly track ‘Whisper’, Bam from the New York hip-hop crew Jungle Brothers raps, his vocoder-inflected vocals impressively conjuring the long-held associations between house and hip-hop. Elsewhere the South African song-genius Nonku Phiri accompanies a polyphone-splatter by the classically schooled Francesco Tristano. Further guest appearances from Jimmy Vallance from Canadian act Bob Moses (‘Tomorrow Is Another Night’), Brett Johnson (‘Rhythm & Soul’), and LD Nero (‘Rabbit Mountain’) complete the impressive list of studio partners. M.A.N.D.Y. consciously set out to make a more thoughtful album than your average club record: an elegant body of work that would stand the test of time. This carefully curated debut shows the grand masters of organic house sounds in iridescent form: relaxed, inspired and breaking conventions with every turn. Double Fantasy is out 11th November (CD & digital) on Get Physical Music
Open airs, festivals, afternoon grilling in the park… These are sure signs that summer has arrived, and we’ve got the right music for all of its activities! Once again we’ve collected all the tracks that made the first half of 2015 such a memorable time for Get Physical Music. On this edition of ‘Most Wanted’ we bring you tracks like ‘Spayce’ from super-boyband andhim, the beautiful dark vibes from M.A.N.D.Y.’s ‘Gizmo’. Piano virtuoso-cum-techno legend Francesco Tristano’s ‘Dminorloop’ sits nicely against the chill vibes of Jazzuelle & Lazarusman’s ‘Forget Me (Jazzuelle Darkside Mix)’. Of course the compilation wouldn’t be complete without a couple tracks from WhoMadeWho’s brilliant EP ‘Ember’, so we’ve included andhim's remix of 'There's A Way' and Sante’s fantastic remix to shake your booty when the sun goes down. All in all there’s something for everybody, just put the one of the continuous mixes to warm up for the festival or open air, or just to relax on the balcony with friends.
We're all for professional sound systems and sweaty dance floors, but sometimes there's nothing quite like one's own living room and an intimate selection of people and music, is there? The compilation conceived for your private listening pleasure returns in the form of Hausmusik Vol. 2. For this second foray into the more complex interpretations of house music, Get Physical has called upon artists the likes of Holden, MKRNI and Francesco Tristano, which are just a few of the names on the 14-track joyride that takes us from Tristano's Japanese soundscapes to WhoMadeWho's dreamy vibes and Stepkids' pop-infused disco. What begins as laid-back and cinematic slowly makes an uplifting swerve towards vintage-leaning vocals on the last stretch, topped off by Chrom Sparks' wildlife-heavy nature glitches. An assortment of tracks as eclectic as it is inspiring; completely fit for closed doors and open ears.
We invited Francesco Tristano to mix the 16th Volume of their Body Language series and join the ranks of M.A.N.D.Y., Dixon, DJ Hell, Catz 'N Dogz, andhim and DJ T.. Melodic and harmonic elements constitute the core, of this mix - which is itself a hybrid production /mix / live session as he has performed live synths on top of the tracks. The basis of the session is in fact his own tracks, with a 'hint' to the DJ world using tracks by others, mostly people of his entourage and a few specials - Joe Zawinul, proto-techno from 1985 and a great inspiration for Francesco Tristano, his collab track with Luciano which is premiered here as well as the Reboot Remix of KhalifeSchumacherTristano’s ‚Afrodiziak‘ and new edits.
