Una storia che unisce le generazioni, intrecciando ricordi e speranza.Federico Morando (1996), in “Qualcosa che abbiamo abbandonato”, affronta il tradimento e la capacità di affrontare la verità senza rabbia. Un uomo che sa di essere tradito dal compagno trova il coraggio di confessarlo, ma solo dopo un evento che li unisce e li separa al tempo stesso. E ciò che resta del loro amore “non è altro che un braciere immolato al ricordo di qualcosa che abbiamo abbandonato, senza neanche accorgercene, per inerzia o troppa negligenza”.Ci sono poi storie di rinascita, come quella narrata da Federica De Castro (1987) in “Una nuova me”. Qui l'amore è una cura, una guarigione che arriva dopo un periodo di dolore e trasformazione. La protagonista, una donna che ha affrontato il tumore e la disabilità, riscopre la bellezza dell'affetto sincero e la forza del legame che nasce nel momento più inaspettato.E che dire dell'incontro tra dipendenza e speranza in “Alito di vita” di Emanuele di Nunzio (1993)? Qui l'amore germoglia in un centro per la cura delle dipendenze, tra un protagonista segnato dal vizio del fumo e una ragazza piena di energia positiva. Una storia che ci ricorda come anche nei luoghi più bui possa nascere un raggio di luce.Con Sofia Marchina (2011) e “Il serpente di Cleopatra”, entriamo in un liceo dove Jude, una ragazza disinteressata alle questioni di cuore, sorprende tutti baciando la sua migliore amica. Una storia di accettazione di sé, che ci ricorda che l'amore è anche, e soprattutto, essere autentici.Poi c'è la magia degli incontri casuali, narrata da Giulia Giraudi (2008) in “Attimi di eternità”. Un ragazzo romano e una turista inglese si incontrano per caso e, in poche ore, condividono un'intimità che molti non raggiungono in una vita intera. Un racconto che celebra la fugace bellezza del momento e la forza delle connessioni improvvise.Tobia Ragni (1999), con “Let's try again” esplora le dinamiche di una coppia che si rimette insieme e affronta subito le prime difficoltà. Una serata piena di tensioni si conclude con un abbraccio.Marianna Giglio Tos (1984) ne “L'amante nell'ombra” ci porta nella Bologna del '600 e ci presenta una pittrice, Ginevra Cantofoli, innamorata di un'altra artista, Elisabetta Sirani. This is a special episode of Wood Mackenzie's The Energy Gang, recorded at the Reuters Global Energy Transition 2024 conference in New York. It has a great lineup of speakers from the worlds of business, finance, and government, giving us an opportunity to talk to some of the key people who are driving the energy transition. One of the panellists on the first day was Kristina Skierka, CEO of Power for All, a campaign group working on energy access in low-income countries. Host Ed Crooks talked with her about how decentralized renewables can reduce energy poverty, and how partnerships between business, philanthropy and government can help countries make progress towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.Power for All is working on what it calls its “Utilities 2.0” initiative, looking for ways to combine centralized and decentralized energy to create robust, integrated systems that will improve service delivery and stimulate increased demand.Another session at the event was a technology showcase, where we heard from companies developing innovative ways to cut emissions. One of them was Cella, which has a new method for permanent carbon removal. Its approach accelerates the natural geologic process that turns carbon dioxide into a mineral: it injects captured carbon dioxide into volcanic rocks, where mineralization permanently locks it underground.Ed talked with Corey Pattison, Cella's co-founder and CEO, and they discussed the different methods of carbon mineralization, the geology needed for the process to work, and the potential advantages for this method over conventional carbon dioxide storage. There was also a Town Hall session for attendees, allowing open discussion on any topics the participants wanted to bring up. Ed raised a question suggested on LinkedIn, about the potential trade-off in the transition between speed and scale in the deployment of low carbon technologies, and energy equity.
