After Akash Karamat won bail on December 19th for one of three blasphemy cases filed against him, judges granted bail on February18th for the other two cases. Psalm 5:12 says, “Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield." Pope Francis has kidney failure On Sunday, the Vatican revealed that Pope Francis has ‘mild kidney failure' and remains in critical condition, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Prior to that, Francis was taken to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome on February 14th for bronchitis, and since then was diagnosed with double pneumonia in what was described as a “complex” medical scenario. On Saturday the pope received a blood transfusion and “high flows” of oxygen. Remarkable prayer by HUD Secretary at White House On Saturday night, President Donald Trump asked Housing and Urban Development Secretary Scott Turner, a former NFL football player, to open the National Governor's Association meeting at the White House with prayer. We honor You. … We give You the glory, in Jesus' name, Amen.” Trump rebukes Maine Governor in person over men in women's sports Later Saturday evening, President Trump talked to the fifty governors in the White House about his commitment to ban men from playing in women's sports. It was within this context, that he personally confronted Maine's  Governor Janet Mills, reports The Christian Post. Listen. TRUMP: “Two weeks ago, I signed an executive order banning men from playing in women's sports. Many Democrats are fighting me on that. I hope you continue, because you'll never win another race. It's just crazy. If you look at what happened with the boxing. If you look at what happened with the weight lifting numbers where a record that hadn't been broken for 19 years got shattered. A guy walks up, he had transitioned, and he knocked out that record by about 100 pounds. That would be a record not going to be broken again. So, we put a ban on it to protect women. If you watch the Olympics, you had two transitioned people that were fighting in the women's boxing, that women's boxing category, and if you saw that it was brutal. “The NCAA has complied immediately, by the way. That's good, but I understand Maine. Is Maine here? The governor of Maine? GOV Mills: “Yeah, I'm here.” TRMP: “Are you not going to comply with it?” MILLS: “I'm complying with state and federal laws.” TRUMP: “We are the federal law. Well, you better do it. You better do it, because you're not going to get any federal funding at all if you don't. And by the way, your population, even though it's somewhat liberal, although I did very well there, your population doesn't want men playing in women's sports, so you better comply.  You better comply, because otherwise you're not getting any, any federal funding.” MILLS: “I'll see you in court.” TRUMP: “Every state. …  Good. I'll see you in court. I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one. And enjoy your life after Governor, because I don't think you'll be in elected politics. “Every state has a responsibility to comply with Title IX. Despite killing 392,715 babies, Planned Parenthood's tax funding up 43% A fact sheet produced by the Charlotte Lozier Institute based on Planned Parenthood's most recent annual report states that, since 2010, the Murder Giant's federal revenue has increased by some 43%. During that same period, its total services have decreased by 17%, with even larger percentage declines for particular services. Contraceptive services are down 39%, cancer screenings are down by 72% for breast exams and 74% for pap tests, and prenatal services are down by a whopping 80%. One so-called “service” at Planned Parenthood continues to increase, however: abortion. In the most recent service year, Planned Parenthood carried out 392,715 abortions, a record toll of death. Plus, its net income for the service year was $178.6 million, leaving it with net assets in excess of $2.5 billion. MSNBC fired Joy Reid And finally, MSNBC fired professional race baiter Joy Reid after she lost 28% of her viewership within the last year, reports Fox News. REID: “We've laid out the stakes in this crucial election, where one side stands for freedom while the other meets the textbook definition of fascism. The avalanche of Trump-related egregious acts are seemingy too numerous to keep tabs on, but there seems to be bipartisan agreement on his pardoning J6ers ... that it was a bridge too far. Don't get it twisted - Republicans won't actually do anything about it, but they do seem to agree it sends an awful message. On Sunday's 'Meet The Press,' Senators Adam Schiff (D) and Lindsey Graham (R) vocalized that much. Even The Daily Show's Ronny Chieng noted not only the wrongess but that Donald Trump didn't even bother doing any due diligence on who he was pardoning or what they were charged with or guilty of. Then there's the not-so-subtle message he sent to former inner circle types - Dr. Anthony Fauci and John Bolton for example. Those two were among those Trump had security details pulled from. The message? "Anyone else sell me out and I'll leave you twisting in the breeze for MAGAs or Iran to take out." As a REALTOR, I get an email each day from Realtor.com with industry headlines and one story caught my eye: a collection of maps that show how climate change is affecting home insurance rates. Spoiler alert: the insurance industry believes climate change is real even if your drunk MAGA uncle doesn't. Oh, and while Trump is fixated on the wrong reasons to assess blame for California's wildfires, maybe he could save some (pardon the pun) smoke for Utah with two of the top ten counties with insurance rate spikes due to ... wildfires?

In recent months it seemed that Oakland — a city famously grappling with a rise in crime — had course-corrected in remarkable fashion. Statistics published by the police department showed year-to-year crime had dropped by 33% overall by the end of April, a dramatic shift after last year's spike. Mayor Sheng Thao praised the city for turning a corner. Gov. Gavin Newsom quoted the 33% figure in a news release touting Oakland's partnership with the California Highway Patrol. The news spread through social media posts and optimistic headlines, including stories in the Chronicle.

Rainier City Administrator Scott Jorgensen is no fan of the Oregon City/County Management Association (OCCMA). A few years ago, he was the subject of an anonymous ethics complaint without any clear explanation of his alleged offense. About a year later, Jorgensen learned that another city manager had accused him of leaking his listserv comments.  The evidence was a conversation between this city manager and one of his elected officials the city manager had surreptitiously recorded. Jorgensen maintains that he did not leak the listserv comments and even if he did, he vehemently rejects the notion that those comments are not public records since the city manager used his official city email address. Moreover, Jorgensen was disgusted by the fact that the OCCMA ethics committee knew that the conversation was recorded without the consent of the elected official and did nothing about it. Jorgensen has some strong opinions about the OCCMA, the value of his membership not only to himself but the taxpayers, and how other city managers conducted themselves during the pandemic. Despite the recent marking of the 70th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas issued a strong rebuke of the decision, arguing that the court overstepped its authority by banning racial segregation in schools.  In a concurrence opinion allowing South Carolina to retain a congressional map alleged to discriminate against Black voters, Thomas criticized the Brown ruling for its "boundless view of equitable remedies" and the "extravagant uses of judicial power" to end segregation. He contended that federal courts possess limited power to grant equitable relief and should not invent new remedies. This stance comes as American public schools are becoming increasingly segregated, disproportionately impacting Black and Latino students who face resource shortages. But you say, “How have you loved us?” “Is not Esau Jacob's brother?” declares the LORD. “Yet I have loved Jacob 3 but Esau I have hated. I have laid waste his hill country and left his heritage to jackals of the desert.” 4 If Edom says, “We are shattered but we will rebuild the ruins,” the LORD of hosts says, “They may build, but I will tear down, and they will be called ‘the wicked country,' and ‘the people with whom the LORD is angry forever.'” 5 Your own eyes shall see this, and you shall say, “Great is the LORD beyond the border of Israel!” The Priests' Polluted Offerings 6 “A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am a father, where is my honor? And if I am a master, where is my fear? says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. But you say, ‘How have we despised your name?' 7 By offering polluted food upon my altar. But you say, ‘How have we polluted you?' By saying that the LORD's table may be despised. 8 When you offer blind animals in sacrifice, is that not evil? And when you offer those that are lame or sick, is that not evil? Present that to your governor; will he accept you or show you favor? says the LORD of hosts. 9 And now entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us. With such a gift from your hand, will he show favor to any of you? says the LORD of hosts. 10 Oh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the LORD of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hand. 11 For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be2 great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. The Lord Rebukes the Priests 2 “And now, O priests, this command is for you. 2 If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the LORD of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. 3 Behold, I will rebuke your offspring,3 and spread dung on your faces, the dung of your offerings, and you shall be taken away with it.4 4 So shall you know that I have sent this command to you, that my covenant with Levi may stand, says the LORD of hosts. 5 My covenant with him was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him. It was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name. 6 True instruction5 was in his mouth, and no wrong was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and he turned many from iniquity. 7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people6 should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. 8 But you have turned aside from the way. You have caused many to stumble by your instruction. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the LORD of hosts, 9 and so I make you despised and abased before all the people, inasmuch as you do not keep my ways but show partiality in your instruction.” Judah Profaned the Covenant 10 Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers? 11 Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the LORD, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god. 12 May the LORD cut off from the tents of Jacob any descendant7 of the man who does this, who brings an offering to the LORD of hosts! 13 And this second thing you do. You cover the LORD's altar with tears, with weeping and groaning because he no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand. 14 But you say, “Why does he not?” Because the LORD was witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15 Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union?8 And what was the one God9 seeking?10 Godly offspring. So guard yourselves11 in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth. 16 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her,12 says the LORD, the God of Israel, covers13 his garment with violence, says the LORD of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.” The Messenger of the Lord 17 You have wearied the LORD with your words. But you say, “How have we wearied him?” By saying, “Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them.” Or by asking, “Where is the God of justice?” 3 “Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts. 2 But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap. 3 He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD.14 4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years. 5 “Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts. Robbing God 6 “For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed. 7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. But you say, ‘How shall we return?' 8 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?' In your tithes and contributions. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. 10 Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. 11 I will rebuke the devourer15 for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the LORD of hosts. 12 Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the LORD of hosts. 13 “Your words have been hard against me, says the LORD. But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?' 14 You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the LORD of hosts? 15 And now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test and they escape.'” The Book of Remembrance 16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name. 17 “They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. 18 Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him. 16 The Great Day of the Lord 4 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings.
