https://Art2Life.com - Rukmini Poddar is an artist, educator, and designer. Her creative passion lies at the intersection of emotional wellness and creative storytelling. She is an artist who draws feelings.  She admits that stumbled into art. It wasn't a planned career path. When Rukmini graduated college, she was burnt out. As a graphic designer, she spent much of her time on the computer. She wanted to get her hands dirty, so she dove into the 100-Day Project. She started playing with watercolors and made abstract doodles. She started drawing her feelings to express her creativity. She'd post them on Instagram. Before she knew it, it became the anchor for her day. By the end of the 100 days, her life was changed. People would comment and say, “I've always felt this way and I've never had words for it.” Something extremely personal to her became universal. She found a community that resonated with her work. It became her guiding light.  Drawing her feelings led to a passion for art she never knew existed. She shares more about her journey to finding herself and helping others connect with their emotions in this wonderful conversation.  ================================ LISTEN IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN… [2:22] Learn more about Rukmini Poddar  [8:00] Drawing your feelings together  [9:59] The magical process of art-making  [13:14] Rukmini's family's perspective on her art  [16:23] Rukmini's career in graphic design  [23:00] Rukmini's art-making process  [25:40] Sign up for an Art2Life retreat  [26:51] Making the invisible visible  [29:49] From group classes to writing a book  [33:50] Helping others unlock their emotions  [39:57] Why Rukmini is passionate about her work  [42:31] How life is a series of differences  [47:19] Balancing the tension between opposite emotions  [53:23] What's happening next for Rukmini  ================================ RESOURCES MENTIONED Sign up for an Art2Life retreat:  The 100 Day Project: https://www.the100dayproject.org/ Joe Dispenza: https://drjoedispenza.com/ CreativeMornings: https://creativemornings.com/ Dan Martell: https://www.danmartell.com/ ================================= CONNECT WITH RUKMINI PODDAR Draw Your Feelings: A Creative Journal to Help Connect with Your Emotions through Art: https://www.amazon.com/Draw-Your-Feelings-Creative-Emotions/dp/0593539141 Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rockinruksi Rukmini's Website: https://www.dearruksi.com Creative Wilderness: A Healing Arts Retreat: https://www.dearruksi.com/retreat ============================= CONNECT WITH NICHOLAS WILTON AND ART2LIFE: Get the Free COLOR TIPS PDF: https://workshop.art2life.com/color-tips-pdf-podcasts/  Follow the Sunday Art2Life Vlog: https://art2life.lpages.co/sign-up-for-the-a2l-vlog/  Follow Nicholas Wilton's Art on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nicholaswilton/  Follow Art2Life on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/art2life_world/?hl=en  Subscribe on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/Art2Life  #Art2Life #FineArt #AbstractArt #ModernArt #Contemporary

How do we find the courage to create? The courage to listen to, and follow our heart? Particularly when that means living a life that may not follow the beaten path? And how might we expand our capacity to hold more than one emotion at a time, accepting and embracing the messy experience of being human, and the inevitable ups and downs of the creative process?Today we will dive into these questions as we explore how art, and creative expression, may offer a path for living into the answers. We'll also discuss the practice of returning to that unabashed childlike boldness for bringing our artistic potential into the world. Remember that? That simple, and very human, practice of creativity (without apology or inhibition). A practice that can lead to feeling more fully alive.Today's guest is the incredibly talented artist, designer, and educator, Rukmini Poddar. Have you ever wondered how much of your past has shaped who you are and the experiences you have today?    How would you feel if you discovered that the person you dislike the most in this life was the one you loved the most in your last one?    As with all of her books,  Dena Merriam's latest book, To Dance With the Dakinis: In Search of Self is a study of the universal law of cause and effect, how events in our life, our deeds, thoughts and reactions impel the process of rebirth. But what makes this one different is that she brings the Law of Karma to life by sharing a story that begins in 12th Century Tibet, and then unravels the threads that link together two more incarnations of the same soul - her own - illustrating how the events set in motion in one life, led to the crisis she experiences in the ones that follow.    Dena Merriam has been a student of Paramahansa Yogananda and a practitioner of Kriya Yoga meditation for over 40 years. She began working in the inter-faith movement in the late 1990s, and  founded the Global Peace Initiative of Women (GPIW) in 2002. She is currently the Chair of the International Advisory Council of the Auroville Foundation in India. Her books include My Journey Through Time, The Untold Story of Sita, When the Bright Moon Rises, Rukmini and the Turning of Time and To Dance with Dakinis.   Dena joins us this week to share the 10 best spiritual books that influenced her the most on her life journey, along with some of the great teachings that she learned from her past lives that we can apply to our lives today.  #DenaMerriam #ParamahansaYogananda #Incarnation  #SandieSedgbeer #NoBSSpiritualBookClub #Lifestyle #Spirituality #Science #Metaphysics #Books --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sandie-sedgbeer/support

To Dance with Dakinis is a study of the universal law of cause and effect, how events in our life, our deeds, thoughts, and reactions impel the process of rebirth. The story begins in 12th century Tibet, with a woman's search for the Goddess and the deeper truths of life. You meet ordinary people dealing with human suffering and you visit magical lakes and mountains. You also meet the great Mother, and through her dakinis, adepts, gurus, and loving souls who guide us life after life, without revealing their spiritual stature. Then we meet the great Guru Rinpoche, known to Tibetans as Padmasambhava. We will learn more of the spiritual history of Tibet and India and the deep interconnection of these two great civilizations. The story unravels the threads that link together three lives. Through a crisis that Padma, our main character encounters, she is led to a Master who helps awaken memories of her previous life in medieval France and an earlier life in China, during which events were set in motion that led to the crisis she now faced. This book recounts deeply touching tales of her experiences and learnings amidst the cultural settings of the times she lived in. In the process of her journey, great teachings are conveyed, teachings that we can apply to our lives today. Call it Life's sense of humor or divine justice, that the person you resented the very sight of, becomes a dear relative in the next; an illiterate low-caste woman in one life is reborn as a queen; the unfulfilled love of one life comes to ultimate fruition in another one; and so much more. It may suddenly strike you that all our feelings of resentment, anger or pride are ultimately futile—and what a liberating realization that is! Life doesn't forget anything – neither your good deeds and vows, nor your wrong deeds or thoughts that you tried to hide from all. Dena Merriam began working in the inter-faith movement in the late 1990s when she served as Vice Chair of the Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders held at the United Nation in New York in the year 2000. She subsequently convened a meeting of women religious and spiritual leaders at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and from that gathering founded the Global Peace Initiative of Women (GPIW) in 2002, an organization chaired by a multi-faith group of women spiritual leaders. In 2008, Ms. Merriam was one of the founding members of the Contemplative Alliance, which later became a program of GPIW. The purpose of the Alliance is to bring together meditation teachers and practitioners in a collective effort to uplift and transform society, while caring for and honoring our Mother Earth. For over 40 years, Dena Merriam has been a student of Paramahansa Yogananda and a practitioner of Kriya Yoga meditation. She is also a long-time student of the great texts of the Vedic tradition. Ms. Merriam received her master's degree from Columbia University and has served on numerous boards. On this episode of The Power of Love Show we welcome special guest, Rukmini Poddar. Emotions add color and depth to our lives and create meaning. Taking the time to sift through our personal emotions can teach us about ourselves and help us process big feelings when they arise. Artist, designer, and educator Rukmini Poddar understands this well and through her artwork she began to realize that “what is most personal is most universal”. And now, readers can dig deep into their own emotions in a creative way with DRAW YOUR FEELINGS, a mind-opening and beautifully illustrated guide filled with watercolor art and meticulous detail. It is both a beautiful and practical tool for a journey of self-discovery. From her work as an artist depicting a wide range of emotions, Rukmini has amassed a following of others seeking the same journey. Her growing platform has touched the lives of nearly 100k followers all seeking her online content and also the courses she teaches on drawing emotions, which are extremely successful. Rukmini's creative passion lies at the intersection of emotional wellness and creative storytelling, which this journal embodies. It gently encourages readers to reflect on themselves and the world around them through lines, shapes, colors, and more. With exercises tailored to beginners and experts alike (no drawing skills required!) readers will learn basic drawing skills and take them all the way to mapping their emotional landscape and empower them to give visual language to their feelings that were otherwise indescribable with words. DRAW YOUR FEELINGS will stretch creative muscles you didn't know you had. At the end of the journey, you will transform the way you interact with yourself and the world. Rukmini is an artist, designer, illustrator and educator. She is also a 100 Day Project artist and author of the book 100 Days of Obscure Emotions. On this Wonder Media Network podcast we explore the lives of inspiring women in history you may not know about, but definitely should. Every weekday, listeners explore the trials, tragedies, and triumphs of groundbreaking women throughout history who have dramatically shaped the world around us. In each 5 minute episode, we'll dive into the story behind one woman listeners may or may not know–but definitely should. These diverse women from across space and time are grouped into easily accessible and engaging monthly themes like Educators, Villains, Indigenous Storytellers, Activists, and many more.  Womanica is hosted by WMN co-founder and award-winning journalist Jenny Kaplan.
