The Millionaire Marketing Mentor's Million-Dollar Blueprint Moving to the U.S. from Poland Adam says that he was "young and stupid" when he came to the U.S. He moved to the U.S. in 1989, around the time the Polish communist government ended and democratic elections began. His motivation was to escape the no-opportunity mentality and make his way elsewhere. Another thing was Poland's three-year mandatory military service. Adam came to the U.S. with only 194 bucks with limited English speaking skills. Figuring Things Out "Survival of the fittest" defined Adam's journey: he was a high school graduate with no skills. It took him around three to four months to find his bearings.  Listen to the episode to know how Adam turned 50 cents into $5 multiple times a day by installing peepholes! Most people become entrepreneurs because of their academic and educational background. They always wait for someone else to permit them. One of the things that got Adam ahead is claiming to be something and proving it. Not learning quickly enough was not an option. If he waited to get training or get certifications, he would have starved. Adapting to the Fast-Changing World The top-paying jobs and marketing innovations today didn't exist years ago. It would be best if you had situational awareness of what's going on in your marketplace. You can always get ahead and do well for yourself with this awareness. Adam takes quotes that people take for granted and find what they mean for him. The Biggest Challenges Adam Faced The minor things are not speaking English and not having money, connections, and education. The major challenge was being lazy and wanting to be rich. The best entrepreneurs are lazy. They're always looking for a better way to accomplish something, driving them to create new solutions. Adam thinks that he hasn't come across his biggest challenge yet. He calls himself the optimistic realist.  Another greatest challenge is himself and his way of thinking.  The skills you've got may also be what's hindering you from going to a million-dollar level. Solving a Problem You cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking awareness that created the problem in the first place. From your vantage point, you may only be seeing limited solutions to your problems. The key is to engage in activities driven by where you want to be, not from where you are. When you feel stuck in a problem, think about it as if you were in a different place. Moving away from the problem and gaining a new perspective can show you the opportunity behind the problem. Gaining Wisdom from Books For Adam, our way of thinking is 95% of the foundation that decides whether we succeed or fail. Some of the first skills an entrepreneur must master in marketing is selling and persuasion. He has his team read the book The Secret of Selling Anything by Harry Browne. It says that everything is about the exchange that gives us more happiness. The book teaches you present offers that make prospects see them as a pathway to happiness rather than spending money. Being a fast learner created an illusion of not needing support for Adam. He can only reverse engineer what he sees in other people's programs, not what he doesn't. Our perception of investment is the higher the amount, the greater the risk. However, the risk is the same, whatever the amount, and as a result, it trips us up. The price you charge has less to do with your methodology and more with the client's potential for gains. Theory of Constraints Put together a triangle. You have three constraints if you want to be at any one of the corners. These three constraints are cheapness, speed, and quality. You can never have all three. Customers who want to get things done faster with the least amount of energy understand that it requires increased investment. Going Platinum in Marketing  Creativity often leads to distraction. Some entrepreneurs are more excited about the idea of what isn't than what is. Adam shares the concept of going platinum in marketing the business with his clients. It roots in the music industry, in which Adam gives an in-depth example in the podcast. One of Adam's most popular programs is Attract Clients Like Crazy. He promoted it for a decade and held a webinar every week with different promotional partners. The mistake of most creatives is creating something new instead of finding a better marketing strategy to promote what they have. Like you can't just be a solo player in the pool amongst other players, you have to be there and you realize you're part of the entire pool. So even though you're swimming with a ball, and whatever you are, whatever you're doing at the moment, you've got to be aware where the rest of your teammates are, where the opponent is. So you've got to be aware of the entire pool. It doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t even matter how successful you’ve been in your career. The Imposter Syndrome or the Fraud Factor or whatever you want to call that little voice that tells us we aren’t good enough or smart enough … it comes knocking for us all and keeps us from taking that next step forward. Why does this happen? My guest Adam Urbanski says it’s all about self-confidence. There are so many people out there with the skills to reach the next level, but they just don’t have the confidence to put themselves in new situations. But Adam has a great strategy for fixing that. Whenever he isn’t feeling confident, he uses a psychological trick he calls outing himself. “The minute you out your fear, you disempower it. It’s gone.” I think that’s just brilliant for a number of reasons. #1: The Imposter Syndrome likes to tell you that things are scarier than they actually are. It wants to keep your fears inside you. When you vocalize your fears … when you hear yourself say them out loud … you start to hear how silly they are. #2: When you open yourself up like that, you build a lot of trust with the person you’ve just shared your fears with. They see you as the authentic person you are, and that goes a long way for building a relationship that will help you take down the fears you’re facing. Learn more about this trick in our episode. The Sex, Money, and Food Podcast Welcome to this edition of The Sex, Money and Food podcast! Today our guest is the one and only Adam Urbanski. Adam is known far and wide for his Millionaire Marketing Mentor business, but he’s also a father, husband and Spartan Race enthusiast!On this edition of the show we’re talking about Adam’s immigration from Poland to America, how he proposed to his wife the first night he met her and the three steps to becoming successful. Get ready to learn and laugh about those topics and more on today’s show! More About This Show   About the time the Berlin Wall was coming down, Adam was about to become a legal adult. In Poland, at that time, if you were turning 18 you had to take exams to get into college. If you didn’t pass you were automatically drafted into the Polish military. Adam knew he’d never make it as a soldier so when he didn’t pass his exam, he came up with a plan to get to the US.   In Poland also at this time it often took up to a year just to get an interview at the US embassy with the consult and apply for a Visa. He knew he didn't have a year, he'd be drafted into the military by then so he decided to go to Austria because it was easier to get a visa to go there. From Austria he would go to the Canadian embassy, thinking the Canadians would welcome him! From Canada he thought it'd be easy to get into the US. Well he got to Austria but missed his appointment at the embassy and went back to Poland. Once back in Poland he thought he'd try his luck at the American embassy, so he got on a train to Warsaw. When he arrived in Warsaw he made his way to the embassy and saw there were no people in line - when normally there is an incredibly long line every day. It was an American holiday - Thanksgiving - and everyone thought the embassy would not be open. But they did open from 10 til 2 so he showed up and was inside 30 minutes later. He was interviewed, and convinced them to give him his visa! He got a two-way ticket, with a six month open window to return. Once he made it to America, he tore up that second half of his ticket so there was no going back. It was his first night in America and he was determined he was going to succeed - even though he had  little money, no job prospects and didn’t speak English!As you might imagine, Adam has done just that. He’s taught himself English, and learned everything he could about business and marketing. He also met the love of his life along the way. In fact, he met his wife not long after he arrived in the US. He spotted her on a subway train and she eyed him as well. He got off at her stop, cobbled together enough English to ask her a cigarette (they both smoked at the time) and walked her back to her apartment. He proposed that night - telling her they’d have two beautiful daughters and live happily ever after!   She laughed at him, but she gave him her phone number. And 25 years later they are still together, with those two beautiful daughters he promised her. Today they have one of the greatest, most fulfilling relationships: they totally "get" each other in business, in partnership, in romance, in friendship and in the bedroom.   Join us as Adam explains why it hasn’t been all “rainbows and kittens” throughout their 25 years together.
