www.commsolutionsmn.com The DFL is still not showing up to the MN Legislature. They violated the MN constitution. They broke MN statutes. Not only are they not legally sworn in, but they continue to refuse to come to work. They MN Supreme Court disregarded the constitution and the law to side with the DFL. Secretary of State, Steve Simon, is also refusing to follow the law and go get the absent lawmakers upon request. The local media has been covering for them. Governor Walz has been silent (no surprise). Will the Republicans hold? We sure hope so. What's with all of the airplane crashes? Are they operator error or is air traffic control filled with DEI hires that are underqualified for the job? It's no secret that Mayor Pete was awful at his job and that the Department of Transportation is in shambles. We're not very far into the Trump administration, but the news is fast and furious. He has had four years to plan this moment and he is taking full advantage of the political winds being in his favor. He ended birthright citizenship, setting off a firestorm around the 14th amendment to the constitution. What does "subject to the jurisdiction of the United States" mean? That is the argument that President Trump's position hangs on. Are children of non-citizens subject to the jurisdiction of the US or their parents' country of origin? This may end up at the Supreme Court. The president moved to drill like crazy and refill our strategic reserves. He removed all of the green energy mandates that had taken away the ability of oil to compete for a share of the market. Tom Homan was empowered to go get illegal alien criminals and deport them or send them to Guantanamo Bay. He went to work right away and began to round up criminals. We are on our way to making America great again, and I don't know if anyone can stop it.

I'm joined by Chris Meyer, legislative assistant for Minnesota state Sen. Omar Fateh, to talk about a slew of ambitious zoning reforms to be considered during the 2024 legislative session. You're really going to want to contact your state senators and representatives about these. Eliminating parking minimums, allowing fourplexes by right, requiring cities to allow apartments near high frequency transit, allowing cities to experiment with a land value tax -- and closing the loophole that's allowed rich folks masquerading as environmentalists to spend the last five years trying to have the state courts undo the Minneapolis 2040 Plan. Because Chris is also a member of the Minneapolis Planning Commission, we also talk about a series of reforms he'd like to see taken up in Minneapolis this year: allowing corner stores; making sure triplexes aren't just legal, they're viable; density bonuses for affordable housing; incentivizing more family sized housing units near schools; and more. ***Please listen until the end to participate in the Wedge LIVE podcast's first ever prize giveaway. Welcome to a new series of the Dissidents Podcast with your co-hosts, Jennifer Richmond and Brandy Shufutinsky. In this series we explore the radical roots of liberated ethnic studies, how extreme ideology is infiltrating our schools with the aim to indoctrinate instead of educate, and our search for solutions to empower parents, teachers and students, giving them the tools to embrace inquiry and to express their individuality. This week we speak with Kofi Montzka, an attorney, wife and mother. In March, Kofi spoke out at a Minnesota Legislature assembly against a bill mandating ethnic studies. According to Kofi, radical or critical ethnic studies may assuage white guilt, but teaches kids of color a hopelessness that affects their ability to succeed. These educational agendas institutionalize a bigotry of low expectations, amounting to a new form of racism in our schools. https://empowered-ed.org/ https://ilvalues.org/ Podcast References: Teaching Hopelessness to Kids of Color Kofi Montzka Addresses the MN Legislature

www.commsolutionsmn.com- It's no secret, our school districts are struggling with discipline issues. The inmates run the asylum, with schools allowing them to talk back to teachers, be physically violent with teachers, and with grading standards being erased. Parents no longer back the teachers, and the Teacher's Union is the one empowering the students over the teachers. Teachers need to give feedback to their unions and threaten to stop paying dues if they don't start to back them. That said, Minnesota School Resource Officers (SRO's) are being pulled from schools by the police and sheriff departments because a new law from Walz and the MN Legislature have made it impossible to restrain students, even if they pose a danger to themselves or someone else. For fear of being sued, these departments have pulled their officers. Some conservatives are clamoring for a special session, but do we really believe that will change things? We don't trust any of 'em. We also remember Bob Barker passing away at the age of 99 by discussing a little game show history. Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? The final bill limits no-knock search warrants, expands access to private information on police misconduct, and creates “sign-and-release” warrants. Racial justice activists say negotiations left out significant policing reforms.--Feven Gerezgiher reports: Early Wednesday morning, the Minnesota Legislature passed the long-awaited public safety and criminal justice reform bill. The final bill limits no-knock search warrants, expands access to private information on police misconduct, and creates “sign-and-release” warrants. At a rally Wednesday, racial justice activists called on Governor Walz to veto the bill. Toshira Galloway said negotiations left out significant policing reforms.“You listen to our stories..you watch us cry. You hear all that they've done. You've heard about the 470 murders in addition to George Floyd... So how can you make a deal to say this is ok?”Despite this, Justin Terrell, Executive Director of the Minnesota Justice Research Center, said the bill is good overall.“There's a couple things here that people will actually feel,” said Terrell. “People are going to notice that they get pulled over by the police that they're getting a sign and release notice, as opposed to being arrested on the side of the street. When you call 911, if you're in a mental health situation, the 911 operator now has the option to send a mental health response, right, as opposed to just an armed officer.”Terrell is a member of the POST Board, which has power over licensing and setting standards for Minnesota law enforcement. Earlier this week, Governor Walz announced an executive action investing $15 million in community violence prevention grants, as well as supporting data collection by the POST Board.Terrell said he hopes the POST board can be more proactive in holding police accountable for misconduct.

Friday mornings during Border News Roundup we get a chance to check in with Marshall Helmberger, the editor and publisher of The Timberjay newspaper serving NE Minnesota. Monday is the end of the main session for the Minnesota Legislature. Marshall talks about the controversy over funding and car emissions . Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, issued an ultimatum to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency last week to halt the proposed new “clean car” emissions standards or the budget will not move forward. Without an environmental budget agreement there would be no new funding for many Minnesota entities including the DNR, which would lead to the closing of state parks. Marshall tells us that the Ely school board is in a debate over a book banning request for the book “I am Still Here, Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness,” by Austin Channing Brown. Some parents and students are asking to prohibit the use of this book in the high school English curriculum, because it is racist

commsolutionsmn.com- The Federal Government is teetering on the edge of signing a COVID relief bill that will supposedly send checks to American families. All the while, Minnesota passed their own COVID relief bill and no one seems to want to tell us what's in it. The MN Senate passed it 62-4, so it must be good. $88 million will go to bars, restaurants, and bowling alleys... but there are strings. Who knows where all of that will end up going? $14 million will be used for grants to movie theaters. $145 million will got to hotels, museums. arcades, and live theater venues. Counties will get tens of millions to hand out as they see fit. $26 million will go to Hennepin County alone. These programs have tons of stipulations and biases built in. Will the people that really need the money get it? The Federal COVID relief package is even worse. It's a $2.3 billion boondoggle (not including the National Defense Authorization spending bill). It's 5500 pages, and doles out millions of dollars for Sudan, Cameroon, gender programs in Pakistan... this is COVID relief for our citizens? How does our Senate approve the original bill with a $600 payment for every citizen, and not approve the $2000 payment? They are ok with all of the foreign payments, but not the domestic ones? This is insanity! Jason flips the script on Andrew, by quizzing him on important historical events on Christmas days of yore. Does Andrew know his history? We also break down the recent article written by Andrew, where he ponders whether the new MN Legislature will strip Governor Walz of his emergency powers in January. A special session of the 2020 MN Legislature is not a surprise – due in large part to a bonding bill that did not get passed and also the unusual circumstances of COVID-19.
