Award-winning poets and founding editors of the groundbreaking journal, New American Writing, Maxine Chernoff and Paul Hoover talk with Roxi Power about their most recent books from MadHat Press and how poetry canreveal then reconstitute the brokenness of the world. Hoover says of writing poetry, “You have to purposefully break a few dishes along the way. The brokenness and emotional force bring the pieces back together.” Chernoff, writing under the shadow of Covid, says, “We stand at the margins of this bustling, often cruel but beautiful world and, in a way, the poem writes itself because the world gives us conditions to think about at the same time—the ecology of the world, governments falling apart, etc. It's happening to all of us. Part of being a writer is simply noticing the moment you're in, personalizing and capturing it in a way that only your particular words at this particular time can do.” These beloved Bay Area poets collage philosophy, film, history, and—in Hoover's newest work—Old Testament stories and cadences in poems that redesign rather than restore theshattered surfaces of the world in new forms—like poetic wabi-sabi. Peter Johnson recently called Chernoff the most important contemporary prose poet born during his generation. Marjorie Perloff wrote of Paul Hoover's most recent book, “He's atthe top of his game.” Tune into this interview with two of the most articulate poets about their own craft. It's part 1 of a two-part interview. More to come! Maxine Chernoff is professor emeritus of creative writing at San Francisco State University. She is the author of 19 books of poetry and six of fiction, including recent collections from MadHat Press: Light and Clay: New and Selected Poems (2023) and Under the Music: Collected Prose Poems (2019). She is a recipient of a 2013 National Endowment for the Arts in Poetry and, along with Paul Hoover, the 2009 PEN Translation Award for their translation of The Selected Poems of Friedrich Hölderlin. In 2016 she was a visiting writer at the American Academy in Rome. A former editor of New American Writing, she lives in Mill Valley. Paul Hoover is the author of over a dozen collections of poetry; his most recent book of poetry is O, and Green: New and Selected Poems (MadHat Press, 2021). He has also published a collection of essays and a novel, and translated or co-translated a few books, including Black Dog, Black Night: Contemporary Vietnamese Poetry. Founding and current Editor of theliterary annual, New American Writing–now published by MadHat Press–and two editions of the indispensable Postmodern American Poetry: A Norton Anthology, Hooverteaches at San Francisco State University. He's also won an NEA and numerous awards, including the Carl Sandberg Award in poetry which Chernoff has also won.

Then, former EPA Chief of Staff Mandy Gunasekara joins Pags to deliver an unfiltered takedown of the “Green New Scam.” As the author of Y'all Fired, she breaks down the true cost of overzealous environmental policies, why bringing manufacturing back to America is essential, and how energy independence can secure our future. Marc Morano, Executive Editor of ClimateDepot.com. Bernie and his radical “green new scam” EXPOSED by Joe Rogan
What if your final farewell could honor both your legacy and the planet? Welcome to an insightful exploration of the 11th installment of the Good Death Seminar Series, where we unpack the concept of "Keeping Death Green." Together, we explore how technological and medical advancements have transformed our perceptions of death, often veering away from its sacred nature. By revisiting historical perspectives and highlighting the gaps in contemporary hospice care, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of life's final chapters. What does it mean to choose environmentally conscious end-of-life options? We dive into this critical topic by comparing traditional funerals with more sustainable alternatives like natural burials, water cremation, and human composting. We share invaluable insights into how these practices not only reflect personal and spiritual values but also contribute to environmental stewardship. We discuss the economic and ecological benefits of these greener options, inspiring listeners to consider the legacy they'd like to leave behind. From reducing carbon footprints to supporting biodiversity, these choices empower individuals to honor their loved ones while caring for the planet. Lastly, we touch on the profound impact of body donation and other earth-friendly burial practices. By exploring the societal and personal implications of these choices, we highlight their role in medical education and environmental preservation. Our conversation stresses the importance of communicating end-of-life wishes and choosing reputable programs, ensuring that one's final act serves a greater purpose. We wrap up by reflecting on the sacredness of life and death, urging listeners to embrace the opportunities for growth and transformation that they present. Join us in reimagining the end-of-life journey as a meaningful transition that respects both our humanity and the earth. In this conversation, Marc Morano discusses the current state of climate policy in the United States, focusing on the challenges posed by funding and congressional action. He highlights recent global trends where countries are moving away from strict climate regulations, particularly the UK Conservative Party's decision to abandon net zero commitments. Morano emphasizes the significance of the endangerment finding and its implications for U.S. climate policy, as well as the role of the EPA in reconsidering various regulations. He critiques the bureaucratic control over environmental policies and advocates for a return to common sense regulations that do not stifle industry. The discussion also touches on the political landscape and the shift in leadership regarding climate issues, concluding with a call for a more democratic approach to environmental regulations. EPA chief Lee Zeldin cuts the head off the green scam viper and announces major changes to drive a dagger into the heart of climate change. Border crossings at the Darien Gap plunge to almost absurd levels as the world seems to understand Trump's message: Don't do it. Greenland is feeling the Trump Effect as the liberal government is ousted for a more conservative, Trump-friendly leadership. And don't look now, but inflation is down, the price of eggs is down, and so is the cost of gas.
The golden days are here again. Thanks for sharing.

On AMAC's Better for America podcast, Phil Kerpen, President of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, criticized the Biden-Harris “Inflation Reduction Act” (IRA) for worsening inflation and compromising Medicare. Calling the IRA “an attack on Medicare,” he condemned its use of Medicare funds for climate initiatives, saying, “They used Medicare as a ‘piggy bank'” and projected that this could raise premiums for seniors. Kerpen noted the administration's workaround to delay premium hikes until after the election, likening it to a “bribe” for insurance companies. He also argued that AARP's support of the bill, motivated by financial ties to insurance, worsens these issues: “AARP has become an advocacy arm of the health insurance industry.” Both Kerpen and host Rebecca Weber underscored the long-term damage of these policies, with Weber warning, “It's bad in the long run.”
Ladies and gentlemen, grab your popcorn because the green energy saga out of Schleswig-Holstein has everything: incompetence, mindless virtue-signaling, and an eco-friendly ferry that apparently doubles as a wind sail. Spoiler alert: It doesn't end well. Here's the tragicomedy: Once upon a time in the quiet German countryside, there was a diesel-powered ferry, the Missunde II. For two decades, this workhorse reliably transported over 120,000 automobiles and 50,000 bicycles annually across the Schlei inlet—a body of water barely 100 meters wide. Not exactly the English Channel. But alas, the Missunde II had a fatal flaw in the eyes of the virtue-signaling bureaucrats: it was powered by diesel. And we all know that diesel is the villain in our modern-day environmental morality play.
Today's show open's with my disappointment over how the GOP questioned Dr. Fauci in Congress. While there was plenty of grand-standing and red meat, there wasn't anything substantive or productive to be gained. I wished they had taken my suggestion of following the money and then expand from there. Remember, this hearing was on the House side. Senator Rand Paul, who is not going to let go of the Fauci bone, cannot wait to get him in for questioning on the Senate side of the Legislative Branch. I would have definitely reminded the audience about the Emergency Use Authorization, the fact Fauci knew about using Hydroxychloroquine, but knew they couldn't make royalties if they used old and time-tested medicines. Additionally, two news stories should have been brought to bear. An Oxford report showed that there was no benefit for children to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but there was definite harm in taking it. On top of that, a group of scientists from the Netherlands analyzed data from 47 Western countries and discovered there had been more than three million excess deaths since 2020, with the trend continuing despite the rollout of vaccines and containment measures. Onto the Hunter Biden case. It's the backside of the same lawfare coin. The jury is stacked to get an acquittal. It's by design. We are watching professional wrestling on a grand scale. Today on the Hill, AG Merrick Garland was testifying before the House Judiciary Committee. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) conducted a master class on how to question a witness. It's obvious, by the end, that Garland knows the DOJ has been coordinating the lawfare against Trump, but cannot admit it publicly. On the Piers Morgan Show, a TDS suffering Leftist cannot explain why Trump committed a crime with hush-money payments, while Bill Clinton did not. Moreover, when pressed, she claims Trump broke a federal campaign law, which means it could not be heard in a state court. In breaking news, the FDIC just said that 63 lenders are on the brink of insolvency. Apparently, the banking system is getting crushed under $517 billion dollars in unrealized losses, mostly due to bad real-estate investments and the rising interest from the Fed. Finally, in a shock to the “greenies” out there, NASA has some bad news. It seems the initiatives to stop emitting particulates into the atmosphere is directly adding to warming. Isn't it ironic? The Green New Deal folks can actually be called the Green New Warming folks. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. Conduce Juan Carlos Barba. The Green New Deal includes the compliance of eating a green new meal, meaning that chemicals, GMOs, and lab concoctions will be part of your diet and plant-based meats will supplant regular proteins. The question has always been, how do they propose to change behaviors? Well of course they can do it by force, and sabotage major food suppliers in order to limit the supply of food to major supermarkets and food distributors. Food shortages have been exacerbated by a string of fires, plane crashes, and explosions at nearly two dozen food processing facilities across Canada and the US.
