This week I sit down with a REAL LIFE DOCTOR of music, Dr. Nyce. Zach plays solo piano/vocal gigs in Pennsylvania and is releasing his debut original album later this year. He is also involved in multiple other groups including Katz 22 and a new Beatles Jazz-Style tribute band called Cavern Club Combo. It was an absolute pleasure sitting down with the Dr. for a music related therapy session in this week's episode of the solo musician podcast "Plumber's Crack." ENJOY!

Visit the Savvy Shopkeeper website and click on “Credit Card Reform” in my main menu or click HERE to complete the Voter Voice form. I recently traveled to Washington DC to advocate for credit card reform on behalf of the Savvy Shopkeeper community and here's why... Visa and Mastercard dominate the U.S. credit card market. They account for 80 % of all credit card volume and have blocked competing networks that offer lower fees and better security from processing transactions made on their cards. This lack of competition has caused credit card swipe fees to rise year after year. And since they are a percentage of the transaction cost, they increase with every cent of inflation. A bipartisan bill in Congress can help fix this broken and unfair system. The Credit Card Competition Act makes important reforms to require that there be at least two competing processing networks enabled on each card. One could still be Visa or Mastercard but the other would have to be an unaffiliated independent network like NYCE, Star or Shazam, or even American Express or Discover. These reforms have the potential to save American businesses and consumers an estimated $15 billion per year. Contact Congress today and tell lawmakers to co-sponsor the Credit Card Competition Act now. Visit the Savvy Shopkeeper website and click on “Credit Card Reform” in my main menu or click HERE to complete the Voter Voice form.

10 years ago, Connecticut artist, Scrapp Nyce had an opportunity to be the vocals to a now hrammy nominated song by Kendrick Lamar, Backseat Freestyle. A song that is played in multiple tv shows and moves and the part you hear the most, the most iconic part is from Scrapp Nyce, after blessing the track with his own creativity and artistry. The TDE love what was sent over. But you must wonder, where is Scrapp today? Where did that opportunity lead him? well we brought him to tell the story from his own perspective, not from the eyes of outside or from the “i would've done this if it was me” people. He is blessed for his opportunity and a decade later there is no hard feelings and musically he is now thriving more than couldve imagined. According to him the curse from the TDE team has officially been lifted. A curse that led to him understanding the music business more, for what it is, a business and to starting his own label.

On today's episode, Ashley covers the story of Michelle Rivera Nyce.
Shiloh Nyce is an Indigenous female screenwriter and actor from the Haisla Nation on the Northwest Coast of Canada. Her First Nations name is Mah-gwees, meaning "snag on the beach". The Pacific Ocean and forest were her childhood playgrounds which has had significant inspirational influence on her artistry. She attended MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada, where she received her Theatre Performance Degree and then went on to receive her Bachelor's Teaching Degree in Theater & Music from BYU-Idaho. Shiloh soon transitioned her stage practice to film with acting credits including Lakes 7 and the Golden Gun, The Life of Jesus Christ, and Maggie to name a few. In 2016 Shiloh founded the Salt Lake Actors Studio; a workshop that provided free performance education for the acting community. Shiloh then took time off to re-establish her roots in Haisla Territory. During this experience she realized she could play a role in keeping her history and culture alive through story. Shortly after, she had two personal dreams given to her that eventually became the foundations for her short film scripts; Hear Him and One Who Knows. In late 2020, Shiloh was accepted to WIFTV's Tricksters and Writers Program in Canada, a film writing scholarship for Indigenous women. She was instructed by Indigenous female filmmakers and under their tutelage wrote One Who Knows, which was then selected to be read live at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival and is presently still receiving several festival selections and wins. Shiloh is currently working to direct One Who Knows and adapt it into a children's book (to be published in 2022). She also has plans to write and direct her newest story, The Matriarch into a feature length film. Presently, she lives in Midvale, UT with her husband and 3-year-old daughter. You can contact Shiloh for acting bookings through her Instagram account @shiloh_nyce
