Tap here to send us a message! The Old Testament Tabernacle served as a powerful symbol, foreshadowing many New Testament truths, even in the smallest details of its design. God commanded that certain wooden parts of the tent be overlaid with gold, and this mirrors our own spiritual journey. Just as the wood came from the earth and was adorned with gold, we too, formed from the dust, must be clothed in God's beauty and Spirit so that we may shine as vessels for His purpose.09/08/2024 - Sunday Morning Scriptures Used (In Order of Occurrence):Exodus 26:15-30Ephesians 2:21-22Hebrews 8:5II Timothy 3:2-4Zephaniah 3:1-2Matthew 3:10II Corinthians 6:17Revelation 18:4Romans 12:1-2Hebrews 4:12-13James 4:1, 7-8I Corinthians 9:26-27Philippians 3:13-14II Timothy 2:3II Timothy 4:7Hebrews 12:1Jude 1:24Psalm 127:1

Every sport, hobby, or special interest has insider terms and history and the more you know the back story of them the more you'll understand and enjoy the activity. The Bible is no different—the more you understand the foundational items in the first 5 books of the Bible, what we call the Pentateuch, the more the rest of the Bible will make sense. This is especially true in what you'll see about what it will tell you about the foreshadowing of Jesus' life and completion of our salvation in the Old Testament. We'll talk about some of them in this lesson today that is longer and more complex than some, but I trust worth it in your understanding of the Bible. You can learn a lot about someone by looking around their house. In this sermon, we are going to be looking around a very special house. After God saves his people out of Egypt (which we looked at last week), He gives them instructions on building a particular structure, called the Tabernacle. This special structure will be the place God dwells among his people and where they will worship him. The tabernacle shows us what is important to God and what it takes for us to have a relationship with Him. As we continue our "Focal Point" sermon series, that looks at all of the Bible, we look at what we can learn from the Old Testament Tabernacle in a sermon called, "The House of God."

The Dangerous Church (Which One do You Attend): We have been studying how the Old Testament Tabernacle (then thereafter the Temple) was the center of the people of God. We have seen that it was where the very presence of God was among the people. However, as we look at the Tabernacle/Temple through the scriptures we see it was at times wonderfully drawing people to the Lord, and at other times leading people away by leaders misrepresenting God. Today we have the Church, a place the presence of God desires to be among His people, but some churches dangerously misrepresent Him and lead people away, while others are “dangerous” to the gates of hell because they draw people to the Lord…. Which church do you attend? Today our passage lays out God's model for His Church. Calvary Chapel Anne Arundel | Pastor Ray Bollas

Our concepts of Heaven can be expanded by the Spirit of God. If we look closely at Hebrews 9, we can see that the offering of Jesus Christ is a Heavenly thing. The Old Testament Tabernacle was a type of the Heavenly Ministry of Christ. All that was happening in the Tabernacle was speaking of the Heavenlies. Heb 9:21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. 23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Christ is entered into Heaven itself. He ascended to Heaven. John saw a lamb that had been slain standing in the midst of the throne, the elders, and the four beasts. Christ is the resurrected slain Lamb, who entered Heaven, the abode of God. In Isaiah, God said of heaven, “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.” Christ the Lamb of God is in the midst of God's throne. All that is in Heaven bows down to the Lamb. All that is in earth is to bow to the Lamb. Glory to God!
We use boards for so much in life. Your home is probably built with boards. You walk on them. You dwell under them. You buy them, cut them, and build with them. Did you know that God used boards for the building of the Old Testament Tabernacle? Let's look at it in light of Jesus Christ. The big question today is, "Are you a board?"
The most holy place contained the golden ark with the mercy seat as a lid on it. The ark of the covenant, the mercy-seat and the content of the ark were together a picture of God the Father, Christ, and Mary.
The Veil-The Way Into The Most Holy Place The tabernacle (the outer court, the holy place and the most holy place) is a picture of man-body, soul and spirit. When we hear or read God's Word, it enters our soul (mind and emotions) first. It instructs our mind and stirs our emotions. But if it stops there, and does not make us yield our will in obedience to God, the the Word cannot enter through the veil into our spirit-and we will not grow spiritually. The veil is our human will which must submit to God's will.
The altar of incense represents prayer. “Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight” (Psalm 141:2) Prayer is an expression of our dependence on God. Prayer (like this incense) must rise from our hearts to God at all times.
With no windows or other means to allow natural light, the only illumination in the Holy Place came from the supremely beautiful Golden Lamp stand. Besides the practical nature of the lamp stand providing light, there are several spiritual lessons that can be learned from its symbolism.
PODCAST #52– As in Heaven: The True Tabernacle The purpose of the Tabernacle on earth was simply to give us a ‘picture' of the True Tabernacle— the one in Heaven where Jesus (our High Priest) offered his blood for the once for all payment for sin! The book of Hebrews completes our understanding of the Old Testament Tabernacle of Moses. The ‘curtain' or tabernacle veil has been torn in two by the hands of God… and we can now have salvation and intimate friendship with Our Lord. By the work of Jesus.
The tent of the tabernacle is described in Exodus 26:1-27. It was constructed with boards made of acaia wood overlaid with gold. The Acacia not only symbolizes Jesus being both God [gold] and Man [wood]. It also symbolizes the members of the body of Christ today who although human, have been made partakers of the Divine nature.
The wall of fine linen around the tabernacle presented a barrier to those who were not 'righteous before God' making sure that they would not have access to the courtyard. This teaches us that the thing that separates those inside the Church from those outside, is not a higher level of human righteousness, but that those inside are clothed with the righteousness of Christ. When speaking of being "clothed with the righteousness of Christ, the Church teaches that the scriptures say that we are justified by the remission of our sins, and also sanctified and renewed in the inner man.
The Old Testament Tabernacle is a type of the Church of today. God told Moses to build the Tabernacle exactly to the specs that He told him. There were three parts to the Tabernacle - the foundation, the structures and the furniture. In today's church, it's the vision, the systems and the spiritual. Is your church great at all three? Remember, everything had to be exactly according to the specs that God gave Moses, in order for God's Glory to descend into the Tabernacle with His people. This is an ancient concept, but we can rebuild it exactly to God's specs.
God's ways are not man's ways. In the Church this is where we must begin: With God. Not with activity but with God in the Most Holy Place. We must begin with the things that are "most holy" not only in the Christian life, but in our Parishes.
A large part of Exodus (Chapters 25 to 31 and 35 to 40) deals with the construction of the Tabernacle of God. In our study of Genesis, we saw the origin of the two streams of false and true religion in Cain and Abel. That finally ends in Revelation as Babylon and Jerusalem. The tabernacle is the seed from which the temple of God came later. It is a picture of the untimate Jerusalem, the Church, the dwelling place of God.
We begin a new series this week, Book of Prayers. Week 1, Pastor Jason teaches us how to pray through the Old Testament Tabernacle, which is often referred to as the prayer of Moses.
Hebrews 9 continues the context laid down in chapter 8 regarding the old covenant. Now the author remarks on the Old Testament Tabernacle, examines the function of priests in the tabernacle, and illustrates, the role of the Holy Spirit through the ministry of the tabernacle. This week, Pastor Doug teaches us how to have night vision (discernment in darkness) by walking us through the Old Testament Tabernacle.
In this series we explore the question, “how can we humans, finite creatures that we are, know anything about the Infinite?” To do this we look at how people captivated by a vision of God have crafted everyday materials we can grasp like cloth or stone or metal and arranged very basic things like sound and color and shape, to help us seek and know God. This time we look at the difference between art and craft as an object we consume, and art as an initiation into an exploration of deeper realities, and the Old Testament Tabernacle as an example of a work of art that helps us explore God. www.shemasd.org Original Score by Julius Obregon Jr.

No one can deny that 'church' looks different this year. Whether you attend a church which worships online, in person, in a parking lot, or in a home- there is one factor that should remain. For thousands of years, even since the days of the Old Testament Tabernacle, believers have been united by a desire for church. Have you allowed your desire to fade during 2020? Can you truly admit that you are glad when they said "let us go to the house of the Lord?"
In this series, we continue to explore how the Old Testament TAbernacle of David shows us relationship with Jesus, and how David longed for the presence of God above all.

Clothed with a Garment down to His Feet Last week I recommended a close look at John’s description of the Son of Man in Revelation Chapter 1, focusing on His garment down to His feet. Considering John’s vision of the Son of Man, the Old Testament Tabernacle comes into view. I believe the garment and golden girdle that Jesus is clothed with speaks of the High Priest Ministry. This is being shown in the seven golden candlesticks. We need to get a hold on this. We need to comprehend this. The Ministry of our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, is revealed in the candlesticks. I believe we could spend months looking at the Revelation of the Son of Man in the seven golden candlesticks. I believe this is overlooked often in the teaching of the Book of Revelation. John sees Jesus Christ IN the seven golden candlesticks, being present in the Church. He is declared to be He that IS and was and is to come. In the churches John sees our Great High Priest. How we that are the church needs to see our Great High Priest and understand His Ministry. I am concerned that much of the time we still view the Ministry of the Old Covenant in our hearts. We still look at the type where there was a continual remembrance of sins made day by day and year by year. We do not see the greatness of our High Priest, and the salvation He Ministers. The writer of Hebrews writes in Hebrews 8:1 “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.” This word such stood out to me as I read this text this past weekend. The word means truly this or of this sort and it denotes the character of the individual. We have SUCH a High Priest. In other words, our High Priest is of a different character and nature than that high priest of the Old Covenant. Our High Priest has a greater ministry and is the minister of a greater Tabernacle. Everything about our High Priest supersedes the old. His Ministry does take away sins. His ministry does take away the conscious of sins. His Ministry does bring many Sons unto Glory. The old priesthood could not. The old had a continual remembrance of the participants falling short of God’s glory. In fact, they could approach the Temple and have their offerings made before the LORD but never enter into the Glory that was veiled away just a short distance from them. What is sad is that many believers do not understand even now that the Glory of God is in them. God doesn’t dwell in buildings made with hands. He dwells in the church which is His Body. Christ is the Minister of this Tabernacle, the Church of the Living God. He is the Minister of this abode of God. This is where God has brought us through Christ, and this is the Ministry of Christ. He is the Minister of the true tabernacle made not of human hands. He is not the Minister of the types and shadows, but of the reality. Our hearts should cry, God reveal this Ministry and reality of Christ in me! Blessed by the name of the Living God!
The Revelation Series – The Feet of Brass V In the Book of Revelation Chapter 1 the appearing of the Son of Man in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks must capture our minds. I am concerned that as many have approached this Book this passed right over their heads. John saw the Son of Man in the golden candlesticks. Many approaches the Book with a pre-conceived idea of what the Book is about. The start of the Book should be the greatest hint, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” This is what must capture our hearts. The heart of the Book is the revealing of Him. Maybe we should consider it as the removal of the Old Covenant that came forth through Moses and the establishment of the new that was sealed in the Blood of Jesus Christ Himself. Maybe this is what John is seeing unfold in his day, an Old Covenant being removed and a new glorious day coming forth. When John sees Him, John falls at His feet as dead. This is significant. John describes His feet as if they were bass burning in a fire. As I have shared in the prior messages on His brass feet, the brass of the Old Testament Tabernacle was speaking of Him and His death. It was the altar with the fire that never goes out speaking of His eternal offering of Christ. In fact, all of the perpetual or continual offerings and works of the Levitical Priesthood were speaking of the eternal work of Christ. The Old Covenant was the picture and the type of what is real in Christ Jesus. In Him, this fire of understanding never goes out. What His feet speak of is eternal with no end. Here at the altar of the sacrifice sin was put to death. Jesus died to sin. Unlike Adam, JESUS did not die in sin. This makes Paul’s statements take on grandiose meaning. Paul declares to the Romans as one man died and sin came through one man, MUCH MORE grace has surpassed what sin did to mankind. In Romans 5:20 of the Kings James Version, the scripture reads, “Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” This word much more means to abound beyond measure, super exceed. To understand this, I must understand Christ. He supersedes all that happened in Adam. He supersedes sin. He reigns over sin. When He died, we that have received Him died with Him (Romans Chapter 6). Glory to God! The statemen by grace we are saved takes on a new meaning when we see His death. Through His death, my prison of death was annulled. Through His death, me being bound to sin was no more. Through His death the chains of sin cannot abound. As Paul declares to the Romans, when Jesus died our old man died, that we would be married to another, who is Christ. This is so POWERFUL, and goes back to Adam and Even in the garden. When sin abounded and he curse came, Eve was told by God that the man would rule over the woman. Hear this by the Spirit. The man is to rule over the woman. Christ is our Head. We have been married to another. He rules over us. In this union we are joined to Him. His victory is our victory. His dominion is our dominion. “As He is so are we.” We have been married to another. He has rule over us, not sin, nor the devil! Glory to God! Hallelujah! He is our victory! He is our Life!
The Revelation Series - The Feet of Brass IV This is the fourth teaching I have done on the feet of Brass of the Son of Man in the seven golden candlesticks. Again, I want to point out that John sees Him IN the seven golden candlesticks or the seven churches of Asia. I also want to point out that the churches are the believers that are gathered in the seven cities. The appearing of Christ in these churches is very specific. To understand the feet of bass as if they burned in a fire, we need to search the scripture to see Him. Our focus in the written Word of God should be to see Jesus. He is the answer period. As we have seen before, brass is seen throughout the Old Testament Tabernacle and Temple. Brass is specifically related to the Altar of Sacrifice and the Laver of Washing. Here in this altar we see God’s judgement of sin. Here at the altar sin was laid upon the sacrifice. As an Israelite approached the house, he would bring the burnt offering to the Lord and lay his hands upon it, signifying the transference of his sins to the sacrifice. We who have received Christ Jesus as our sacrifice have also laid our hands on the sacrifice, transferring our sin to His power over sin. He took our sin and He paid for all of its penalties. He is the answer for sin. Your sin, my sin, and all sin. In John 3 Jesus says as the Moses lifted up a serpent on a pole the Son of Man must be lifted up that whoever believes on Him shall not perish but have eternal life. In Numbers 21 there is a story of the Israelites travels where they had begun to complain of God and walk in unbelief. The consequence was serpents in the midst. These serpents begin to bite them, and the Israelites began to die. As they turned and cried to the Lord, Moses was instructed of God to put a brass serpent on a pole. Whoever looked upon this serpent would live from the serpent’s bite. You could say that by looking at the brass serpent lifted up from the ground, there was no power in the bite of poisonous snakes on the ground. In Paul’s writings He presents Jesus as who the Brass Serpent on the pole symbolized. Jesus, who took the sting and power of sin away. As we turn to Him, we see His judgement of Sin. In this judgement, Jesus, did not sin, but died for sin. Jesus, who did not know the nature of sin, being tempted as we are, died to sin. Here was the defeat of sin. Jesus overcame sins power in the body of His flesh, and judged sin on the cross by taking the man of sin in the body of His flesh to death. Yes, He judged sin dead or inoperative. It has no power on us who turn to Jesus. In fact, Paul writes that we are made dead to sin in Christ’s death. I don’t know that any have fully heard this. “He that is dead is freed from sin.” Sin’s power, none effect. Sin’s strength, no ability. Sin’s death, never again. Through Jesus we are made free from all of its bite. We are made free to live unto God in the Heavenly Kingdom He has provided, shielding us from all the works of the devil. Never again do we have to be subject to sin, but can walk in the power of God, who overcame all things through the death of the cross!! Glory to God!
It can sometimes be a struggle to know how to pray, especially if we've allowed our prayers to become routine. Fortunately, the Bible outlines many different types of prayers we can use as a pattern, including the prayer of Moses. The prayer of Moses outlines a series of steps we can take to draw closer to God: give God thanks, focus on the cross, offer every part of our lives to God, invite the Holy Spirit to work in us, claim the promises of God's Word, worship His name, and intercede for others. By praying this way, we avoid merely coming to God with our wish list each day. Instead, we shift the focus to God and others by following godly principles given to us through the Old Testament Tabernacle.

The altar was a place of encounter between God and man. Quite literally it was a place of sacrifice. We’ll break down it’s importance in entering the presence of God by looking at the Old Testament Tabernacle, the specifications of the altar itself, and the sacrifice which needed to be made. God’s sacrifice of His son incites our sacrifice of praise. And our praise leads to His presence. Now the question becomes, “Are we willing to wait on God?" For many in our generation, we have not learned what it means to wait, to wrestle, to linger, to tarry in the Lord’s presence. To get on your knees and not get up until you have a conviction from God. This message is an invitation to the altar, to praise, and to press in like you haven’t before.
Title: When Jesus Pitched His Tent Series: Advent According to the Apostle John Text: John 1.14 Summary: In one of the most magnificent verses in the Gospel of John, the incarnation of Jesus is described in vivid imagery of the Old Testament Tabernacle. Jesus "tabernacled" among us, or as some versions say, "pitched his tent" among us. No longer are elaborate sacrifices required for entering the presence of God. The presence of Jesus is now all we need.
