This week on Collider's For Your Consideration, Scott Mantz and Perri Nemiroff handicap the race for Best Actress. Though the field this year is wide, both awards experts agree that there are five clear front-runners: Charlize Theron in BOMBSHELL, Awkwafina in THE FAREWELL, Renée Zellweger for JUDY, Scarlett Johansson in MARRIAGE STORY, and Saoirse Ronan for LITTLE WOMEN. Scott and Perri debate this list, talk about some possible dark horse contenders, and make their predictions on who will take home the gold at this year's Oscars. Plus, they preview Collider's upcoming FYC Q&A screenings, thanks to our partner, Arclight Cinemas. Make sure to leave a COMMENT below, and remember to LIKE and SHARE this video on social media. WEEEEE WILLLLLL, WEEEEE WILLLLL ARGUE. We cover this year's Oscar ceremony! A month too late or right on time? Colby does multiple British accents. John David saw some of the movies. Zach puts his money where his mouth is. Green Book, Green Acres, Tom Green, Collard Greens, Green New Deal... don't matter. A Star Is Born by 14.
Well, that happened. The Oscars of 2019 were decidedly underwhelming, but it was also our anniversary episode, so we watched anyway. Brian and James are joined by Max as they share their favorites of 2018, react to that undeserved best picture win and, as ever, still find time to swoon over Chris Evans and his beard. Join us as we celebrate our first year!
Netflix had an outsized presence at the 2019 Oscars despite their unconventional way of distributing films.(image Courtesy of Vulture.com) The 2019 Oscars or Academy Awards were like no other. There was a Superhero film up for best picture and a Superhero film actually won for Best Animated Feature. Among top films to come away a winner this year was an Alfonso Curaón film named Roma. It scored an industry first in that despite the fact that it was available for viewers to stream on Netflix even as it was still playing in theatres, Roma was not only a serious contender for competitive awards like best director and best picture, it actually won three of the four awards it was nominated for. (Netflix developed Roma image Courtesy of Deadline.com) For this segment we've turned things on their heads a bit– Andy Sorciniis a film editor by trade, as well as the Creator and Executive Producer of The Drill Down. Tosin Onafowokan, longtime Drill Down co-panelist, is a product manager at Vudu, where he spends his days working on the tech behind the streaming media that audiences can't get enough of, and, here tonight as a special guest, we have Engadget Senior Editor Devindra Hardawar, who, in addition to writing about and being an expert in all things entertainment technology, is also the long-time co-host of the Slashfilmcast, which reviews and provides insights about the latest in film and television every week. Devindra has also launched his own technology show recently– the Know More Tech podcast, in which he answers every day users questions about technology. Examples include how to pick the best tech gifts, what you should be looking for in major technology purchases like televisions, and help whittling down the best products in a sea of options– like recommendations on fitness trackers. I thought we'd take advantage of this vast array of tech and movie experience to see if there's anything to be learned about where the industry is going in light Netflix's incursion into what had been a space dominated by the studios.

We've sat down and reviewed every single Best Picture nominee for the 2019 Oscars and even managed to watch a couple of the other nominated films so what better way to get you in the mood for this years ceremony than bringing you a preview episode of the biggest ceremony in Hollywood! Can Colin & Ben work out why there isn't a host for this year? What other controversies will happen between now and when the ceremony airs? Do we care about the red carpet arrivals? Will Colin & Ben get their predictions correct this time around? And can we be excited for a year where there really aren't great movies that have been nominated? Get your tuxedo on and speeches ready as we prepare for Hollywood's night of nights!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Well it's time to look at another film we've reviewed before in our Oscars 2019 Best Picture reviews by looking at the fan favourite A Star Is Born. Why did Colin not realise Dave Chappelle was in this movie? Is Colin's hatred of Bradley Cooper still as strong as it once was? Is Bradley Cooper the new Leonardo DiCaprio? Can Bradley Cooper even sing? Does Lady GaGa get more credit than she should or is she really amazing? What do we think about Sam Elliott? Does the movie fall away in the second half to make it less appealing? And how do we end up talking about Kiefer Sutherland for the last part of the episode? It's the episode you've been waiting for so let's get to it!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

It's long overdue that we should look at a black and white Mexican film but that day has finally arrived as we look at our next Oscars Best Picture nominee for 2019 in one of the favourites for the win, Roma. Is this a movie that Ben & Colin really thought they ever would be reviewing? What is it about the style of this movie that makes it so engaging to watch? Is there a nostalgia aspect to this film which makes it so popular? Can we comment on the acting when we can't understand what they say except for the subtitles? Did Jamie appreciate the male nudity in this film? Does it feel as though we are dropped right into the middle of a story without any context and does that weirdly work? Does it being in black and white make it better to watch? And can this movie sweep all the awards it's nominated for? We'll make sure to add subtitles to this to make it more authentic!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Jeremy sits with longtime friend of the podcast, entertainment guru Jeff Jensen with a spoiler-free discussion of the Best Picture nominees in the 2019 Oscar race. The two weigh in on who most deserves the grand prize.
So, is The Favourite the favourite to win the Oscar for Best Picture in 2019? We're about to find out by giving you our Oscars review for the film! With Ben not making it to the end of this movie will that change how we recap it? Does the lesbian storyline make it better to watch? Is this movie similar to Amadeus? Is this just a bit too similar to Vice? Did Colin actually appreciate it more so than he thought he would? Is this another movie that is factually incorrect? Can we think of other historical movies where a gay storyline would've made it better? Is this movie made to win the minor awards? Do we like Emma Stone and should she be winning Oscars? And is this film deserving to be so universally loved? It's a stretch to watch the film but we'll make the episode entertaining for you at least! So tune in!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Another day, another Oscars review as we look at our next Best Picture nominee in Green Book. Does this movie receive way too much criticism then it actually deserves? Is it shocking to realise this movie was directed by one half of the pair that directed movies such as Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary and Stuck On You? Is this another movie where the true story element is used too loosely? How amazing are both Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali in this film and how great is their chemistry throughout it? Does this movie feel more like a 90s movie and is that a bad or good thing? Is our fandom of Linda Cardellini a little too much than it should be or is it completely warranted? And are movies being turned too political now where a good movie can't actually get the credit it deserves based around controversy that surrounds the cast or crew of a film? It's another heavy movie to talk about so get into it and get entertained and educated!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
Who will win at the Oscars next Sunday. Nathan and Ryan run down nearly every category. You may be surprised by what they have to say, but you'll have to download this episode and listen to it to find out.
Another day, another Oscars episode as we look at the latest nominee for 2019 Best Picture BlacKkKlansman. Is this the most re-watchable movie out of all the Best Picture nominations? Is it odd that Adam Driver was the only one to get an acting nomination out of this movie? Is there enough subtlety in this film that we don't need the final montage or is it too subtle that we really need that to show the scenes to point out the main issues in this film? Can we believe it isn't Steve Buscemi in this movie? Are there another bunch of actors in this film who we recognise who we are then shocked at finding out who they actually are? Will this lead us to do a 'Spike Lee Month' at some point on the show? And is there much of a chance of this film winning any awards? Click away to entertain yourself away as we continue our Oscars coverage!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
It's another Oscars review as we move into our next Best Picture nominee and bring you our Christian Bale love with a closer look at Vice. How can Ben drop some Eminem at the start of this episode? Why is Colin confused about how he feels about this film? Is this movie another movie that proves this years Best Picture nominees are the worst in Oscar history? Is Sam Rockwell deserving of an Oscar nomination after this film? Do we even understand the tone Adam McKay was trying to achieve in the movie? Is this one of Christian Bale's best performances or is it a little over the top? How does this film compare to the George W Bush movie W from 2008? Has Ben's opinion changed from when he first watched the movie the other day? And can this film actually win any Oscars at all? It's an interesting one to discuss and one that is definitely an opinion changer! So tune in!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
It's another Oscars 2019 episode looking at the 2019 Best Picture nominees as we look at perhaps the most controversial inclusion in this years nominees with the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. How much has Colin wanted to talk about this film since it first came out and how much does his opinion differ to Ben? Did this movie need to be made or was the Freddie Mercury story just not that interesting? Is Colin the only person on the planet to not like Rami Malek's performance in this film? Is there any drama in this film or is it just over the top? Is there any character development through out this film? Visually is this movie just amazing? How great is it that some more obscure Queen songs are used in this film? Does the Bryan Singer situation make this film almost impossible to win the Best Picture? And how will the ratings at the end differ? Click away and get that gold statue in sight as we get excited for the 2019 Oscars!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
It's that time of year once again to get into some Oscar reviews as we start things off by revisiting our first nominee for Best Picture in 2019, Black Panther. Have our opinions changed on this since our review a year ago? Should it have received as many nominations as it did? Can we pay anyone to fly to Winnipeg or New Zealand to listen to us live? Have we appreciated Michael B Jordan even more considering we weren't that high on him last year? How does this compare to other superheroes movie from last year if we were to rank them? And are we going to be excited for a sequel when it comes out and will it get nominated for another Best Picture too? It's time to listen in and get your Oscars excitement ramped up!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
