Tonight got a bit real as Joel shared what went down at the Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala when the show was suddenly stopped. Then we asked—how lazy is too lazy? A British bloke is going viral for eating straight off glad-wrapped cutlery, and honestly, we’re not sure if it’s genius or just gross. We also took a look at the insane prices tourists are paying to stay at the Four Seasons hotel, aka this season’s White Lotus set. Spoiler: It’s giving “sell a kidney” vibes. Over in the Glossys, Jeff Bezos' wedding guest list has been leaked (big names, big money), and we found out that Gwyneth Paltrow and Meghan Markle have been hanging out—Goop x Sussex crossover, anyone? Oh, and in the most cursed fact of the day, Tim dropped the truth about where vanilla flavouring actually comes from… and let’s just say, you’ll never look at your ice cream the same way again. Then, our mate Matt Moran swung by for a round of Quick Draw—was he as sharp as his knives? Only one way to find out!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

'Trump's tariffs: the implications for transatlantic trade' America has soured on free trade and globalisation. Disruption to transatlantic trade is a major near-term risk for the Irish economy, as the biggest per capita goods exporter to the US among EU members. One of the candidates in November's US presidential election has promised across-the-board tariffs of at least 10% on all imported goods. Such a measure would almost certainly result in retaliatory measures by the European Commission, which has exclusive competence over EU members' international trade policy. In this edition of IIEA Insights, Alicia García Herrero, Rory Montgomery and Matt Moran examine the implications of these tariffs on transatlantic economic and security relations. Alicia García Herrero: Chief Asia Pacific Economist at Natixis bank and a Senior fellow at Bruegel think tank. Rory Montgomery: former Permanent Representative of Ireland to the EU, among others senior diplomatic roles. Matt Moran: former head of Ibec's Biopharmachem Ireland and currently a consultant in that industry.

This week Nicola and Di chat with Australian food icon and restaurant royalty, Matt Moran. Matt is best known for the incredible restaurants he's created, including Chiswick, North Bondi Fish, The Opera Bar, and of course the stand out of them all, Aria - and that's only a handful from a very long list. But it's not only his restaurants that make Matt an icon, he's also worked on 12 popular TV shows including Master Chef, Paddock to Plate and The Great Australian Bake Off alongside his dear friend, Maggie Beer. Add to that 4 best-selling cookbooks and a bunch of national and international awards, Matt certainly has an awe-inspiring career in the food industry. What we also love about Matt is how much he gives back - through the charity work he does for organisations like OZHarvest, through mentoring and guiding other young chefs as well as through his own sustainable farming - that's right, Matt is a fourth generation farmer! In this conversation we hear about Matt's lifelong passion for food and cooking, which began when Matt started as an apprentice at The Belle Helene restaurant when he was just 15. By the time he was 22, he had already opened his first restaurant in Sydney, The Paddington Inn Bistro. Matt's long and successful career has been shaped by hard work, persistence and perseverance - but above all, it's his passion that's been the driving force. As Matt reminds us - if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. Matt opens up about his friendship with Gordon Ramsay, and what they get up to on the yearly trips they take together to Iceland. He also shares about the strong sense of community and mateship amongst chefs and the wonderful friends he's made over the 40 years he's been in the industry. It was so lovely to chat to Matt about his life story and the remarkable imprint he's made, and continues to make, on the Australian food industry. He's such a down-to-earth and genuine guy and we loved having him at our back fence - we hope you enjoy listening. Dr. Christopher Kerr is an end life researcher, a hospice physician, CEO and Chief Medical Officer for Hospice and Palliative Care in Buffalo, NY, and the acclaimed author of Death is But a Dream. He provided hospice care for Matt Moran and his family in August, 2023. His extraordinary care and guidance was impactful and comforting for the family in the moment and in the grieving process that followed. As Matt would certainly would have wished and how he so often did with this podcast, we are passing along the lessons and spreading the good word about Dr. Kerr.Dr. Kerr's work, his research, book, and films are based on his experience and research working with hospice patients and seeing the extraordinary way the mind connects reality to the thoughts, visions and dreams of the dying. His work validates these powerful moments and brings comfort to family and to the emotions that come at the end of life. Dr Kerr defines End of Life Experiences or ELEs as significant, subjective experiences within the dying process that occur while asleep or awake. They can happen hours, weeks or even months before a person passes and may increase in frequency as patients approach death. These experiences are indeed gifts and impact the bereaved because “how people leave us matters,” says Dr. Kerr. His website provides many resources for learning more about his work, including:· View the award winning TED talk from 2015 titled ‘I See Dead People, Dreams and Visions of the Dying” to learn more about Dr. Kerr's perspective on End of Life Experiences.· Order the book, Death is But a Dream: Finding Hope and Meaning in the End of Life, by Dr. Christopher Kerr, available from numerous book outlets. · His film, also titled Death is but a Dream, shares many patient stories. This is available for viewing on YouTube or you can watch a short preview here.· End-of-Life Experience Research In this podcast, Bill Moran and Dr. Kerr talk though many of these topics and how Dr. Kerr helps brings perspective, purpose and meaning to the final days of a life. You will also hear how Bill was able to piece together what he was feeling as his brother was saying goodbye, the love and connection that was present, and the awareness of the power and incredible gift that came from this time that will last forever for him and the family. While the emotions don't necessarily become less painful, talking through what is happening and what it all means shines light on the process. With that perspective comes much more joy, much more impact, and less focus on the loss and declining health of the individual. Danita Estrella-Watts is the founder and President of Danita's Children in Haiti which cares for orphaned children. Moving Beyond Hydrogen Fairytales. The host for this show is Mitch Ewan. The guest is Matt Moran. On the topic of hydrogen, there is a great deal of misinformation being circulated. Liquid hydrogen systems in particular are sometimes characterized as being a far-off vision that will require many years to deploy. The truth is there are no true technology gaps preventing the widespread application of hydrogen systems. The answer to many questions about hydrogen can be summed up as 'it has already been done'.Unfortunately, inaccuracies have even made their way into key reports from authoritative government and international sources. These publications frequently contain errors and omissions, especially on the topic of liquid hydrogen. It is critically important to resolve this issue since public policy, regulations, funding priorities, and private sector investments are heavily influenced by these types of publications. The ThinkTech YouTube Playlist for this show is https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQpkwcNJny6nXB3m62UWYrdK3lYBRDrQ9Please visit our ThinkTech website at https://thinktechhawaii.com and see our Think Tech Advisories at https://thinktechadvisories.blogspot.com.

This is a podcast where we sit down with some very successful people from the world of business, entertainment and sport about their life's journey and what got them to the position that they're in today. In today's episode we are chatting with celebrity chef and restaurateur Matt Moran. Matt grew up like a lot of other country kids. He didn't like school. He liked playing sport with his friends and hanging out with his brother. And when he came through, chefs were, as he says, ‘the dirty buggers out the back that no one really cared about until we started owning restaurants and then they had to care because they wanted a good table.” Matt's success took a lot of grit and a lot of hard work. In this chat we talk about his early days in the kitchen and how his life took some interesting paths that led him to becoming a celebrity chef. We speak about his life in TV and his friendship with other celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay, as well as the importance of things like hats and Michelin stars for business in the restaurant game. We also talk about Matt's family and his ying-yang style of relationship with his beautiful wife Sarah. Sitting down with Matt feels like you're catching up with a mate for a beer. Ep 063: The word gratitude is derived from the Latin word gratia, which means grace, graciousness, or gratefulness (depending on the context). Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives. Gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes it will make them happier or thinking they can't feel satisfied until every physical and material need is met. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack. And, although it may feel contrived at first, this mental state grows stronger with use and practice. Our next guest practices gratitude every day. He is a husband, father and successful salesman who has worked in the financial services industry for nearly 20 years. The Cincinnati native is also living with kidney cancer. He was first diagnosed in 2015, but after one of his kidneys was removed, doctors told him he was cancer-free. Then, in late 2018, the cancer returned, and the biopsied tumor was malignant. Since then, he started a blog to track his journey and inspire others. His disease has taught him that how you respond to situations you face defines who you are. Please welcome Matt Moran to The Retirement Success in Maine Podcast! Chapters: Welcome, Matt Moran! An unexpected illness has many effects, physically and mentally, on a patient and on loved ones who surround that patient. When kidney cancer came around for a 2nd fight in 2018 with Matt, he went searching for ways to cope. One of the most common attributes he found with those who were successfully fighting a disease or some type of adversity in their life, was gratitude. The gratitude stories inspired Matt to begin his own gratitude practice and to learn more about caring for what Dr. Roy Vongtama's calls the four houses of health – the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual houses. Feeding, balancing and connecting these 4 houses has made a significant difference in Matt's recovery journey, but as you might expect, there is more work to do. March is once again Kidney Cancer Awareness Month, bringing attention to the 68,000 new kidney cancer cases and 14,000 deaths that will hit in the United States alone this year, making it the 6th most common cancer among men. Listen in as Matt reviews his journey and the many lessons he has learned from the support that has surrounded him (you can also watch on YouTube here). His uplifting message about finding positivity and awesomeness in every day is inspiring and drives his mission to help others fighting kidney cancer.
