Peter ist ein Indie-Softwareentwickler von Synthesizer-Plugins. In dieser Folge erzählt er von seinem Werdegang, seinen Firmen und warum Farben, Strukturen und Klanggestaltung miteinander verschmelzen. Die Gesprächsrunde macht dabei einen ausführlichen Exkurs in die Welt der Künstlichen Intelligenz, beleuchtet deren Bedeutung für Kreative und diskutiert, warum KI-Systeme lediglich wie Zaubertricks wirken. Schließlich endet dieser Exkurs in unterhaltsamen Anekdoten über Gleitgel und Schwangerschaftsprodukte. Anschließend erläutert Peter seine Philosophie und Vision für seine Produkte sowie die Leitplanken, die ihm bei der Produktentwicklung helfen. Er greift dabei Gedanken aus der Wahrnehmungspsychologie auf, um die Benutzeroberflächen seiner Plugins zu gestalten. Jordan Rudess is a composer, music technologist, and keyboardist for progressive metal group Dream Theater. Jordan was voted "the best keyboardist of all-time" by Music Radar. He founded Wizdom Music to push the boundaries of music technology. Their newest release is GeoShred 5, a highly expressive, MPE instrument for iOS and soon desktop. Jordan also plays in the prog-metal super-group Liquid Tension Experiment, who are releasing their new album on March 26th, 2021. Jordan and I sat down to talk about his work in Dream Theater and Wizdom Music. In this episode of the Immersive Audio Podcast, Oliver Kadel and Bjørn Jacobsen are joined by electronics engineer Ben Supper from London, UK. Ben Supper started Supperware in 2018, with the aim of making hardware and software to meet the needs of professional musicians and engineers who work with immersive audio. The challenge has been to meet their needs for high accuracy, speed, and as little impact on their budget as possible. The first product to reach general sale is a head tracker, without which there's no point making anything else. He has spent a total of twenty years working as a product engineer and occasional manager for ROLI, Focusrite, and others. Some products he's particularly proud of co-developing to include the ROLI Seaboard, and the Novation Launchpad and Mininova. Before most of this, Ben obtained a PhD in the field of spatial psychoacoustics from Surrey in 2005 and was a graduate of the Tonmeister course in 2000. It is Ben's dream to make immersive audio work commercially this time around, and not to frighten away those casual experimenters and distractible creatives on whom its commercial and artistic success will completely depend. In this episode, we dive deep into the topic of head-tracking for audio, and Ben expertly explains the advantages of using trackers for spatial sound and the process of making them. It almost made me angry but I think it was making me crazy. I was just writhing in pain check it out it's an interesting listen. Writhing in pain My last episode was kind of terrible because I was just in pain so much but this episode I can report that my pain level has downgraded from extreme pain to intense pain and maybe even bearable. Definitely bearable I'm going to put it in the bearable category and no one can stop me because it's my podcast. It's bearable Crunked Out, or Up I'm in the process of changing my trigeminal neuralgia medication. In order to do that I am currently taking both my old medication and the new medication. Since they both have a sedative effect it's I'm very crunked out. Or crunked up I'm not sure how the direction works there Coaches Jackets Coaches jacket. I went to Oakland and pick them up this morning. It was very tiring because like I said I'm totally crunked up or possibly out. It was a lot of driving and I hope I don't have to drive a lot more today LA Look I'm trapped in a bubble in the hair gel, because I'm overmedicated. Making music Joe was in my high school band. It was called okra blues and it was mostly Modeled after the Jon Spencer Blues explosion and RL Burnside. It was punk rock blues.  He took his shirt off at the catholic school. Nowadays We Jam Together Nowadays We Jam together and I don't play a lot really anymore. I've listened a lot. My approaches different and it is more like meditation and exercising acceptance of the sounds I'm making. Accessible keyboard I'm using a ROLI Seaboard, an accessible keyboard with different ways of striking notes and making sound.  It's good to have an instrument to play. Good to be alive It's good to be alive. I'm grateful for my family and friends. Auch durch neue Klangwelten ihrer Softwares und Plugins entgrenzen MusikmachDinge die Möglichkeiten klassischer Instrumente. Mit der steigenden Komplexität vergrößert sich jedoch oft auch der Pool an zum Musik-Machen nötigem Vorwissen. Die meisten Instrument- Neuerfindungen der letzten Jahre sind weitab von Open-Source und- Hardware über Patente geschützt. Sie sind nicht nachbau- und modifizierbar. Eher bestechen sie durch einen hohen Anschaffungspreis. Sein Instrument anzupassen wird zu einem teuren Hacking; zu einer ExpertInnen-Praxis. Souverän ist, wer subversiv handelt und die juristischen Konsequenzen eigenen musikalischen Handelns nicht scheut! Im Fokus des Vortrags stehen die sozialen, kulturellen und ökonomischen Konsequenzen dieser “neuen Musik”. Publikum wie auch Experten aus der Praxis sind im Austausch gleichermaßen gefragt. He is a tremendous product demonstration guru, and is able to figure out - and shred upon - almost any controller at the drop of a hat. His history with Korg, Kurzweil and others map out the best of keyboards, and he's been a demo machine with all of them. In the software development business, Jordan Rudess is also a rock star. He's designed some of the most interesting and playable iOS music applications (including MorphWiz, SampleWiz and GeoShred), and is working with others on some upcoming goodies. And, of course, Jordan is also an actual rock star. As the keyboardist for Dream Theater, a member of the Dixie Dregs and an amazing solo performer and recording artist, Jordan has established himself as a force in rock keyboard circles. What's cool, though, is that Jordan is a great guy, and is really wired in on every new technology. He's embraced the expressive controller world, including devices like the ROLI Seaboard, and finds these tools to open up a new world for him in both performance and recording.
