Key new technologies include steer-by-wire — a first for a German production car — bidirectional charging, silicon oxide-graphite anodes pushing usable battery capacity to 122 kWh, a rear two-speed gearbox, and 385 kW regenerative braking, with a new entry-level EQS 400 starting at around £80,500 in the UK.***NISSAN CONFIRMS ELECTRIC JUKE FOR EUROPE IN 2027Nissan has revealed the third-generation Juke as a fully electric model, built at its Sunderland factory and going on sale exclusively in Europe in 2027, based on the CMF-EV platform shared with the new Nissan Leaf. The EV Juke will run alongside a continuing petrol version due to uncertainty around EV adoption, and is expected to offer up to 622 km (386 miles) of WLTP range with the larger 75.1 kWh battery option, though official specs have not yet been confirmed.***EUROPE EV SALES HIT MARCH RECORDEuropean BEV and plug-in hybrid registrations hit a monthly all-time high of nearly 540,000 units in March 2026, up 37% year-on-year, driven partly by sharp fuel price rises following the disruption of shipping routes at the start of the Iran war in late February. Global EV registrations also rose 3% to over 1.7 million in March, though China bucked the trend with a 14% fall in BEV sales after the end of purchase tax exemptions and trade-in subsidies.***KIA CONFIRMS EV1 FOR 2027Kia has confirmed a 2027 launch for its most affordable EV yet, expected to wear the EV1 badge, targeting the segment occupied by the BYD Dolphin and Renault 5 EV with European pricing expected around €25,000 (~£21,200). Built on the 400V E-GMP platform, it will offer two battery options — 42.2 kWh and 61 kWh — and is also set to replace Kia's last entry-level combustion car, the petrol Picanto.***FRANCE PREPARES THIRD EV SOCIAL LEASING ROUNDFrance will launch its third social EV leasing round in June, maintaining a quota of 50,000 contracts aimed at helping low-income households switch to EVs, with Prime Minister Lecornu citing EV running costs of just €2–3 per 100 km versus around €11 for diesel. The government has also set targets for Renault and Stellantis to produce 400,000 electric cars per year by 2027 and one million by 2030, alongside a new 50,000-contract programme for high-mileage middle-income workers such as carers and nurses.***FRANCE TIES ELECTRIFICATION TO ENERGY SECURITYFrance has become the first country to announce a major national electrification package directly in response to the Strait of Hormuz energy crisis, doubling annual state support from €5.5 billion to €10 billion through 2030 and targeting fossil dependence in both transport and heating. The plan includes banning gas heating in new buildings from late 2026 or 2027, subsidising 50,000 EVs for high-mileage drivers, offering businesses up to €100,000 per electric truck or van, and building 1 million domestically manufactured heat pumps per year by 2030.***US SOLAR SURGE DEEPENS COAL DECLINEThe US Energy Information Administration forecast on 6 April that solar energy generation will rise 17% this summer compared to 2025 levels, with solar projected to grow from 293 billion kWh in 2025 to 415 billion kWh in 2027, while coal generation is expected to fall roughly 10% in the first half of 2026. Over 90% of net new US generating capacity in 2026 is forecast to come from solar, wind, and battery storage, though rising solar shares are already exposing grids to sharper afternoon price swings and driving increased investment in battery storage alongside new capacity.***VOLVO TRUCKS PUSHES ELECTRIC HEAVY HAULAGE FURTHERVolvo Trucks has launched the FH Aero Electric with up to 700 km of range, 460 kW output, MCS charging at 700 kW (20–80% in around 50 minutes), and support for gross combination weights of up to 48 tonnes, directly targeting the range and payload objections that have held back heavy electric freight. Alongside it, updated FH, FM, and FMX Electric models for regional and construction work offer up to 470 km range, a new dual-motor driveline producing up to 540 kW, and an integrated gearbox PTO capable of driving equipment such as concrete mixers and cranes, with market rollout beginning in phases from 2026.

A taký dojem budú mať pasažieri vzadu. Keď sme si prvý raz sadli do jazdeného EQS SUV, skutočne sme nepostrehli významnejší nedostatok, ktorý by nasvedčoval o strate pôvodných vlastností. To znamená 100,1%.

The session focuses on six key 2026 trends for ethics and compliance programs: (1) AI moving from experimentation to operational use, emphasizing deliberate scaling, human-in-the-loop oversight, governance frameworks, monitoring, and managing “shadow AI,” with practical use cases such as policy chatbots, gift/travel/entertainment reviews, and AI-enabled third-party risk lifecycle management; (2) enforcement “volatility” and unpredictable regulatory signals, with emphasis on returning to fundamentals such as documenting program inputs and outcomes, and noting continued activity, including record FCA resolutions and a DOJ whistleblower program award leading to a rapid antitrust settlement; (3) shifting employer–employee dynamics, including Gartner survey findings that 40% of employees would intentionally miss a compliance requirement to harm their organization, discussion of trust, employee sentiment, multi-generational communication differences, and the need to partner with HR while staying within organizational lanes; (4) heightened third-party and supply chain risk expectations, including cybersecurity, tariffs/tariff evasion, export controls, and the need to unify siloed risk views into a holistic third-party risk assessment; (5) anticipated increases in whistleblowing and investigation demands amid volatility, highlighting the importance of preventing retaliation, keeping reporters feeling heard through responsive communications, triage protocols, and anonymized case examples to build trust; and (6) measuring program effectiveness through a shift from outputs to outcomes, including reviewing KPIs and key risk indicators, peer review of investigations, hotline “mystery shopping,” and gap analyses against the DOJ's ECCP and compliance program hallmarks, with special emphasis on third-party documentation and ongoing monitoring. What does it really take to go from invisible intern to trusted, Grammy-winning mastering engineer? The Sound Discussion Podcast sit down with Dan Millice to unpack the habits, choices, and honest work that shaped his journey, from cleaning bathrooms and taking cheques to the bank at MasterDisc, to building a client list one late-night venue at a time, to mastering records for artists across genres and continents.Dan explains why he chose to specialise in mastering and why he ultimately moved fully in the box. The answer isn't dogma, it's service. Faster recalls, instant fixes, and reliable delivery matter when a label needs a longer fade today or a track order change by this afternoon. He breaks down his no-template approach, starting albums from a blank session, picking a reference track, and selecting EQs, de-essers, and limiters for each song's needs. We compare popular limiters, FabFilter Pro L2, Ozone Maximizer, and talk about why default settings rarely cut it, how genre changes limiter behaviour, and when subtlety beats shine. You'll also hear how Dan handles mixes that aren't ready. He shares the quick QC process, the value of a phone call to align on vision, and the ethics of pushing back so the final record wins. Beyond tools and taste, the throughline is human: relationships, trust, and responsiveness. Recognition and nominations follow the reps, wet Tuesday nights at shows, genuine conversations, and consistent delivery. For artists and engineers, this conversation is a roadmap: specialise with intent, keep learning, meet people in the real world, and above all, serve the song.Links mentioned in this episode:Listen to the Sound Discussion PodcastFollow the Sound Discussion PodcastFollow Dan MilliceListen to episode 197 (Nate Kelmes)Send me a message Support the showWays to connect with Marc: Listener Feedback Survey - tell me what YOU want in 2026 Radio-ready mixes start here - get the FREE weekly tips Book your FREE Music Breakthrough Strategy Call Follow Marc's Socials: Instagram | YouTube | Synth Music Mastering Thanks for listening!!
Weclcome back to EV News Daily, and welcome to our new series where we go deep into one particular EV, called The Spec Sheet. And today it's the turn of the Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology—a vehicle that represents a significant jump forward for Stuttgart's approach to electric mobility. Unlike previous EQ models that carried distinct names and styling, this GLC shares its nameplate with the combustion-powered version while riding on an entirely different platform purpose-built for electric drive. This marks Mercedes' previously announced departure from the standalone EQ brand identity toward a unified approach where electric and internal combustion variants coexist under familiar model names. Stay tuned to discover: · How Mercedes' new MB.EA platform architecture delivers both efficiency and performance · The technical innovations behind the GLC's 443-mile WLTP range capability · Why this model represents the centerpiece of Mercedes' largest product offensive in company history The GLC holds particular significance as Mercedes-Benz's global best-selling model. By electrifying this cornerstone SUV, the company is making a clear statement about its electric future while maintaining design continuity that existing customers will instantly recognize. And more importantly for a brand which saw pushback from S-Class and E-Class buyers towards the change in direction with the EQS and EQE respectively, Mercedes-Benz will hope this is an easier sell to their fans.

Confession time: how many compressor plugins do you actually need? One? Two? Six? Let's be real—you probably have a “go-to” compressor and five others you bought during a flash sale because someone on YouTube said it was life-changing. Don't worry, you're not alone. Chris and Jody are right there with you in this week's episode of Inside the Recording Studio, tackling the hilarious, slightly painful truth about gear hoarding in music production. Let's paint the picture. You open your DAW, scroll through your plugin folder, and realize you've somehow collected enough EQs to start your own virtual museum. You tell yourself each one “has a different color” (translation: it's slightly shinier than the last). Meanwhile, your mixes still hinge on the same three plugins you've used for years. And guitars? Don't even start. That “backup” guitar? It has three backups of its own. This episode is all about calling out the obsession we all share—the need to collect, collect, and collect some more. Chris and Jody ask the uncomfortable but necessary questions: Does more gear actually make you a better mixer or songwriter? Why do we keep buying shiny new toys while ignoring the hidden features in studio gear we already own? And when is “just in case” actually code for “I'll never use this, but it looks cool in my rack”? They'll swap stories about plugin overload, forgotten purchases, and the sobering reality of discovering licenses for tools they don't even remember buying. (Yes, it happens.) They'll also share practical ideas on how to prune your collection, focus on what actually improves your workflow, and get back to what matters most—making music, not scrolling menus. But don't expect a lecture. This is Inside the Recording Studio, after all. You'll get plenty of laughs, playful digs at gear addiction, and the kind of nonsense that makes self-reflection just a little less painful. After all, admitting you might be a gear hoarder is easier when Chris and Jody are joking right along with you. At the end of the day, this episode isn't about shaming you for that seventh guitar pedal or your fifth reverb plugin. It's about reminding ourselves that great music comes from skill, creativity, and intent—not the size of your plugin folder. Or as Chris and Jody put it: too much gear sometimes means too little music. So before you buy that next “essential” bundle, hit play on this brutally honest (and very funny) conversation. Your wallet—and maybe your mixes—will thank you. #GearAddiction #PluginAddiction #HomeStudioGear #ProAudioLife #RecordingSetup #InsideTheRecordingStudio #MixingTips #StudioConfessions

In this episode of the Out of Spec Podcast, I sit down with my fellow EQS team members (Jordan and Sebastian) to reflect on our I-90 Surge experience, driving Mercedes-Benz's flagship electric vehicle across the country. Over 46 hours and 51 minutes, we pushed the EQS to its limits, relying on its advanced navigation and charging prediction systems while tackling the highs and lows of EV road tripping. We discuss our strategy, the EQS's consistent charging curve, comparisons to other vehicles in the race, and how it handled the diverse challenges of a cross-country journey. From efficiency debates to navigation quirks, and even some lane violation drama, we dive into what makes the EQS a compelling (and sometimes frustrating) choice for long-distance travel.Jordan: https://prndlcars.com (website)https://youtube.com/@prndlcars (Youtube)Sebastian: https://x.com/its_seebas (X)Isaiah (Me): bio.link/rivianupdates (website)isaiahlouis.com (LinkedIn)Shoutout to our sponsors for more information find their links below:- Fort Collins Kia: Visit focokia.com for full details. Max "Morton" Pasichnyk, the esteemed Ukrainian producer, stands as the creative force behind the heavy/power metal studio project Morton. His vision for the project initially blended classic heavy metal with modern power-metal influences, culminating in a unique sonic identity. Despite evolving stylistically over time, traces of heavy-metal roots remain evident in every composition. Grimoire marked Morton's debut release, a five-track endeavor entirely composed, performed, recorded, and produced by Max himself, disseminated freely across the internet. As Max assembled a live lineup while recording, Morton transitioned from a studio project to a full-fledged band, characterized by rigorous rehearsals and relentless dedication to crafting new material. In November 2010, Morton unveiled their inaugural music video, "Sleeping King," earning acclaim from listeners and peers worldwide. This success spurred the band's focus on crafting their debut full-length album, which materialized as Come Read The Words Forbidden, released in Ukraine and Japan in the summer of 2011, accompanied by an official live video for "Brotherhood Of Light." Come Read The Words Forbidden's global release by AFM Records in October 2011, followed by its distribution in Russia, solidified Morton's presence across the globe. The subsequent year saw Morton sharing stages with renowned acts like U.D.O., Mike Terrana, Within Temptation, Coroner, Oomph, and My Favorite Scar, signaling a new chapter in the band's live performance repertoire. In September 2012, Morton released their third music video, further expanding their reach across various digital platforms and musical TV channels. Looking ahead, the band anticipates the release of their second full-length album in 2015, poised to continue their musical journey under Max Morton's visionary leadership.
