This week, Tommy is joined by actress Britt Robertson who currently stars in The Merry Gentlemen on Netflix. You know and love Britt from roles in Life Unexpected, The Secret Circle, The Rookie:Feds, I Still Believe, and so much more. In The Merry Gentlemen, Britt plays Ashley, a Broadway dancer who returns home to save her parent's small-town nightclub by staging an all-male Christmas themed review, led by Chad Michael Murray. Yes, this movie is quite steamy, but it's also full of heart and Britt captures the magic of Christmas perfectly. Today, Britt opens up about why it was a no-brainer joining this film, her journey of learning that work doesn't have to be the only thing that defines who she is as a person, how she bonded with Chad Michael Murray over hair, what teaming up with him was like for this film, her ideal sequel idea, why sometimes you need to be pushed out of your circumstances to open the door for life-changing opportunities, why its okay to not always be in control, how she is now conscious of making sure all of her cups are as full as possible, some eye opening things she has learned in therapy, where she sees herself in the future professionally, why she doesn't like to go to movies with anyone she knows and so much more.Subscribe, rate and review this episode if you enjoyed this conversation!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Something a little different this time witches. With finishing The Secret Circle, we decided to take a little celebration episode break. We are celebrating having recorded over 50 episodes! This lets us have a nice chat about the podcast, witchcraft, and spell craft. I hope everyone enjoys spending a leisurely little episode full of magic and friendship. We will be returning for Motherland Fort Salem Season 3 after this. Grab yourself a little drink, a treat or snack, and come join us on the couch!
Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Joe Lando, Award-Winning Actor, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”, “A Christmas Spark” & “Night Train” About Harvey's guest: Today's special guest, Joe Lando, is an award-winning actor who's brought us many memorable performances in numerous movies including “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home”, “Shadows of Desire”, “Alien Nation: The Enemy Within”, “Seeds of Doubt”, “Blindness”, “Born Wild”, “The Untold Story”, and his latest film, “Night Train”, directed by the amazing Shane Stanley who recently appeared on our show. You've also seen him in dozens of TV shows including “One Life to Live”, “Higher Ground”, “Wildfire”, “The Secret Circle”, “The Bay” and “The Bold and the Beautiful”. But he's perhaps best remembered for playing Byron Sully, the love interest and husband of Jane Seymour's character on the hugely popular hit TV show, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”. He reprised his role as Sully in “Dr Quinn Medicine Woman: The Movie”, and “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: The Heart Within”, as well as in the hilarious comedy short, “Dr. Quinn Morphine Woman”. And those of us who couldn't get enough of the onscreen chemistry between our guest and the wonderful Jane Seymour, got to see them together again in “Perfectly “Prudence”, “Friendsgiving” and “A Christmas Spark”. In 1993, he was included in People Magazine's list of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. But he's so much more than that. Besides being a great actor, he's a highly skilled chef, an avid cyclist, and a very devoted family man. The Secret Circle finale is here! And your favorite witches have mixed feelings about it... We have a lot of questions and a few concerns about some VERY dark things implied in this episode. And yet, a small part of us wishes there was actually a 2nd season! It's quite the ride and quite the listen with a more of a PSA instead of a deep dive on the use of light magic versus dark magic to finish it all off! Grab your favorite drink and come join us on the couch!
Back with a bit of a short one this time. Our Circle goes to Prom! But true to many Prom experiences we all have a terrible time. We started this episode excited about our own lives, but a little defeated already about the episode. Still all we have left is the finale. One more to go witches! Grab a drink and/or a snack and come join us on the couch!
In today's second show, Tore introduces her new documentary on the shocking evils of human trafficking. It's a story that has to be told and includes the motives, methods, medical corruption, money, desperate clients and modern history of the world's most hideous industry. Tragically, we need look no further than our country's Southern border. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
There's so much happening in this episode! (Both podcast and the show) Does the show get confusing at times? Yes. Do we do our best to work it all out and take a look at the big picture? Yes! It's a little longer episode but it's so worth it, especially with a deep dive on locator spells! Grab your favorite drink and join us on the couch!
What. An. Episode. Was it just us that thought it took forever to get through? And yet, somehow, not the worst episode they've put out. The kids' birthdays are revealed! The other Blackwell is revealed! We reveal what astrological signs we think the kids should REALLY be born under. We have a good time talking! So grab your favorite drink and come join us on the couch!
We're back from our holiday break! Yay!! Lets light another candle and try to wait for the Spring Equinox. We are back once more with our secretest of circles. Niki is very riled up through most of it, but does settle at the end as we truly reflect on not only this show, but other subjects as well. We top it off with some light planning on our next big shows to come and called it a form of a success. As secret circle is not using much magic these days, there is sadly no deep dive, but we can pretend the long reflection counts. Welcome to the new year, grab a drink, and come join us on the couch!
As of posting, happy belated Winter Solstice, happy Hanukkah, happy Yule, and happy early Christmas! Join us witches as we discuss episode 17 titled "Curse". It's an okay episode to watch (like maybe top 5? Definitely 10 at least) but a fun one to discuss because 1) Eva is psycho and 2) the ending is great! Plus, we deep dive necromancy and it's actually related to something that happens in the show!! So grab a fun drink and come join us on the couch!
Well, well, well here we are again. This Secret Circle episode Jade and Niki were a bit all over the place. Not that we're extremely structured all the times, but portions just devolved into chaos. This episode was not so lucky with the amount of tangents that appeared. None the less our classic one liners got to come through. Jade got to say "I hate the sappy stuff." and Niki got to sneak in a "I hate Jake." Was Jake barely in the episode? Yes. Still we have a giggly fun time full of stories, magic memories, and realization of how amazing Melissa has become. Come join in on the fun! Get a snack, grab a drink, and come join us on the couch!
These witches continue with The Secret Circle episode 15, "Return". Do we agree with The CW describing Cassie's dad as "unnecessarily hot"? Does Niki find another episode she miraculously enjoys? Have you ever wondered who we think is the hottest Marvel actor? Do you want a mildly intimate look into Jade's migraine issues? If you said yes to any one of these, then join us on the couch for this episode and discover all this and more! There is no deep dive, unfortunately, but we do go on a small tirade of the show's use of Voodoo instead. Grab your drink and enjoy another episode we loved to talk about! (Next release date Dec. 10)
This is an exciting one witches! We splash back with an episode that we absolutely adore. This is a wonderful episode that we simply joke with and sing its praises of basically the whole time. Sadly the recording session ended in tragedy with one of Jade's porcelain figures making a jump off the shelf and breaking. RIP little porcelain animal. We didn't have it recorded, but felt it should be mourned. Speaking of mourning we get to do a really great deep dive where we talk about one of our favorite things. Spirit boards! With all this delight, go get yourself your favorite drink, a nice snack, and come join us on the couch.
Nothing ever truly goes out of style. Time is a flat circle. Friends don't know everything about each other. Boys can suck. These are the four life lessons that we, the readers, learn in books 3-4 of the Daughters of the Moon series. Jimena and Catty take the lead in their respective books and learn about themselves, adjust their priorities, and gain a bit more knowledge about the future and the Choice that must be made. Lovers back from the dead and a secret prophecy make for fast-paced action, while the plot solidifies into something much bigger than we ever anticipated. Tartarus in LA? Your favorite witches are back with lucky episode number 13 of The Secret Circle season 1 titled "Medallion"! We continue on that trend where Niki dislikes the episode and Jade enjoys it--though disclaimer, Jade was accidentally tipsy when she watched it and that may have had a positive effect! To finish it off, we deep dive on the Autumnal Equinox (a little late, yeah? Shows you how far life and Niki's COVID threw us off... Thanks for sticking around with us through it though!!) So grab your favorite potion to drink and come join us on the couch! Minor warning, for some reason Niki's audio is slightly louder and metallic right before the 75-minute mark. It only lasts for a few seconds, but we were not able to edit that section to get it any better.
Our deepest apologies everyone for not getting any episodes posted in a while. A couple weeks after recording this Niki came down with covid and it super knocked her out. Everything kind of just got busy and stalled following her recovery. We are finally back though! This is a strange Secret Circle episode to return with after so long away as the theme is Jade and Niki are confused. It's a nice long one though, since we have to explain and theorize quite a bit. Mind spells work like time spells, Jake is back, and we all get to see a random Scooby Doo esk ship graveyard. What could go wrong? Grab a drink and a snack. Take a break and relax. Come join us on the couch!
Richard Harmon recently joined host Elias in the cave! You can see Richard as Tryst on his latest project 'Fakes' now streaming on Netflix. Fakes - FAKES is the story of two best friends who accidentally build one of the largest fake ID empires in North America. They move into a downtown penthouse, have more cash than they know what to do with, and then get raided by the feds. One of them goes to jail, the other doesn't. This is the story of their ultimate betrayal, told through each of their POVs with regular fourth wall breaks. This is a comedy-drama with two unreliable narrators who are both competing for the last word. Richard Harmon is a world-class actor, consistently working with Hollywood elite. Born in Mississauga, Ontario, Richard began acting professionally when he was only 10 years old, but it took him until he was 15 to fall in love with the craft and hit his stride as a thespian. Richard has had numerous recurring and guest star appearances on such TV shows as TheCW's "Smallville" and "The Secret Circle", SYFY's "Jeremiah", "Flash Gordon" and "Caprica", FOX's "Fringe", Cartoon Network's "Tower Prep", Showcase's "Continuum", A&E's "Bates Motel", CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", Netflix's “Van Helsing”, the critically acclaimed AMC series "The Killing" and “A Cinderella Story Starstruck” for HBO Max. He also starred as John Murphy in The CW's "The 100", a post-apocalyptic drama set 97 years after the earth has been destroyed by a nuclear war which aired for 7 seasons. We have reached the half-way point of The Secret Circle! Can you believe it? We talk quite a bit here because we really enjoyed the episode--great one-liners, intrigue, and even more red flags! Also, remember when Jade had a sore throat in the last episode? She tested positive for COVID 6 hours later! Please excuse any stuffiness and coughing on her part (though really, it's not much!) now that she's been cleared to resume working. On a brighter note, we end the episode with a brief deep dive on ice magic and recommend a very helpful book for many magics. Grab a drink, join us on the couch and don't miss out on the fun!
We're back again with the secretest of circles. Fun fact that Jade's minor illness mentioned here is just the beginning of events in what would be coming. None the less we have quite a bit of fun with the episode, surprisingly except when it comes to Faye. There is a point where Niki says "and" I swear like a dozen times in a row so sorry in advance for that. We even got to deep dive into an actual show relevant topic and talk about Elderberry in detail. Turns out both Jade and I find it fascinating! Its all around a very nice time, so grab a snack, get a drink and come join us on the couch!
We aren't going to call this episode our unicorn, but we WILL call it our Pegasus.... Boy did we have so much fun recording this one! Niki did not like the episode; Jade really likes maybe the last 15 minutes. #TeamAdam and #BooJake, amiright? Fun fact, we spent about 3 hours recording this one... So, we hope you enjoy the tangents that stayed in the final cut and have as much joy listening as we did recording! **As of July 16, 2022, in USA you can dial 988 to reach the Suicide Hotline and receive mental health help**
Sorry this one is slightly late everyone. We keep making our way through Secret Circle and so begins Jake ruins the episode for Niki. Do not make a drinking game out of how many times Niki says "I hate Jake.". You won't survive. Still we have a decent time with a decent episode where Jade takes the position of it was good and Niki takes the side of it was fine. Come join us on this slightly spooky adventure as we take a hard look at Faye. We even take a deep dive into the broad subject of psychic magic to top it all off. So take a break, grab a snack, and come join us on the couch!
Your favorite witches are back at it in another rare episode Niki actually likes! Jade likes most of it, but she might have had a smidge too much to drink too early in our recording, so this episode gets really fun near the end. We deep dive blocking magic with a brief addition of iron in magical history. Don't miss out! Grab your drink and join us on the couch!
What an episode this is! Your favorite witches are getting really confused with overall plot lines of this show and some of their implications. While we felt like this episode of the show was a bit skippable, this episode of our podcast certainly isn't! Join us we puzzle out the direction of the show, reminisce of our past, and have a lot of fun judging this show before we round it off with a deep dive on athames. Grab your drink and join us on the couch!
The Secret Circle is picking back up, plot-wise, according to your favorite witches! Join us for this bit of a roller coaster episode 5 where we miiight take a little time to tangent on Aries' spectacular color preferences. Plus, we finish up with a deep dive on snakes. Grab your favorite drink and join us on the couch!
Join these witches for another episode of The Secret Circle! An interesting episode plot-wise, but boy does it have some flaws that frustrate Jade especially. We have the usual fun back and forth and finish up with a brief deep dive on demons. Grab a drink and join us on the couch!
Sorry for the long break witches! Work and just our personal lives really got on top of us. We come back to Secret Circle with not so much a splash. More like a small sploosh. Our least favorite episode of the the three, but we hold out hope that they can turn this around. We get some small giggles by the characters shenanigans and deep dive into how we prefer to create our own spells. Take a break, grab a drink, and come join us on the couch!
This episode is a reboot of The Secret Circle, but borrowing a lot from The Craft. Lindsay is rebuilding the whole thing to be about grody outcasts in the late 90s who don't look like extruded hunk product messing with things beyond their ken and getting into messy queer relationships with each other. Also discussed are fulling in love at an anime convention, Mrs. Carmody-type figures, and the Degrassi LARPing subplot. Our friendship promo this week is @tgiapodcast! I will be talking about these two tv series that both had the supernatural paranormal theme with teen drama mix in. One was called Point Pleasant from 2005 that aired on FOX and the other The Secret Circle from 2011 that aired on CW. Sadly to say there both got cancel in season 1 so going back to memory lane on this. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/censoredmenotpodcast/support
We need to bind the circle! Basically 50% of the lines of this episode. Regardless it some how leads to a pretty entertaining episode where these two witches can have a bit of fun! We continue on our road of learning what is not only up with our main witch cast of the show, but also some insight on their crazy parents. Add in a few loving jokes about being a teenager and its a great time. We finish at all off with a deep dive into crystal magic. Take a break, grab a drink, and come join us on the couch!
Your favorite Witches on the Couch are back with a brand-new show! Thanks to a fantastic listener recommendation, we break down the first episode of The Secret Circle titled "Pilot." We break down their use of magic, some tricky familial implications, and really had a lot of fun recording this episode. There's a lot crammed into this episode (as always with pilot episodes), including a deep dive on fire magic. Grab a drink and join us on the couch for this wonderful ride! (P.S. The Book Evangelists discuss The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson Morning Chatter We are finally discussing The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz. Our region of the country is experiencing all of the seasons this week: several inches of late April snow, lovely spring plants flourishing, an upcoming afternoon forecast in the 80s. Cover the tomatoes at night, that's the plan. The Splendid and the Vile On Winston Churchill's first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next twelve months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally–and willing to fight to the end. In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson shows how Churchill taught the British people “the art of being fearless.” It is a story of political brinkmanship, but it's also an intimate domestic drama, set against the backdrop of Churchill's prime-ministerial country home, Chequers; his wartime retreat, Ditchley, where he and his entourage go when the moon is brightest and the bombing threat is highest; and of course 10 Downing Street in London. Drawing on diaries, original archival documents, and once-secret intelligence reports–some released only recently–Larson provides a new lens on London's darkest year through the day-to-day experience of Churchill and his family: his wife, Clementine; their youngest daughter, Mary, who chafes against her parents' wartime protectiveness; their son, Randolph, and his beautiful, unhappy wife, Pamela; Pamela's illicit lover, a dashing American emissary; and the advisers in Churchill's “Secret Circle,” to whom he turns in the hardest moments. Discussion Questions How real is real, even when exhaustively researched? Does this make you want to keep a detailed diary? How will personal text messages or emails be treated in future memoirs and historical record? What can we learn as writers from this book? How does this story turn reality into an exciting/interesting narrative that follows the “rules” of fiction? Why did it take each of us so long to read this book? Bonus Book in Progress We are both currently reading The Power of Ritual: How to Create Meaning and Connection in Everything You Do by Casper ter Kuile and bringing some of the sacred reading suggestions into our discussion here. Reading about other people improves our ability to understand and cooperate with others and ultimately to understand ourselves Could this book, The Splendid and the Vile, or the original speeches by Churchill, or some of the letters or diaries– be something for a sacred reading/discussion? What would we each want to choose as a sacred text? Coming Up Next episode: Marian and Lissa will read and discuss two fantasy books written for youth, which Marian read in her youth and Lissa has not read. Yet. A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin The Book of Three The Chronicles of Prydain, Book 1 by Lloyd Alexander Pssst! Want to See Something Cool? Marian's first book A Little Touch of Magic is now available! There are fairies. Someone has a tail. Must be a fairytale. Sometimes a show comes along with a pretty rad plot, a super adorable cast, and top rankings on its network — but even still that's not enough to keep it alive. Enter, the CW's one-season series The Secret Circle. In this episode, Jonah covers the show that's based on the book of the same name by The Vampire Diaries author L.J. Smith, and helmed by TVD's producer. Why did a series about a group of powerful young witches exploring their mysterious and ancient supernatural connection fail to survive past its first season, despite having all the makings of a successful run like other CW shows of the genre? The answer...might surprise you. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rewind-podcast/message
