This episode is a special treat, recorded at the stunning Pop Shell Studios on Superior in preparation for the Post Saga Wine Night on April 27th. To hype up the release of their first EP in years, "Paradise Island", we sat down with our incredibly talented friend (and pseudo LG sound engineer), Danna O'Connor of Post Saga. She, with the help of Pop Shell Studios, The Room, Korey Smerk and yours truly, organized and executed an awesome event back in April to boost awareness of Post Saga's new music dropping on July 27th.The wine night was a hit, attracting marketers, venue bookers, artists, and other music industry professionals to witness the live debut of the EP. Danna shares her vision for the event and the importance of bridging the gap between artists and industry pros. You'll get an exclusive listen to some of these songs before the EP drops on the 27th!Of course, we couldn't resist our usual tangents, covering the hot button items like Shakira and Pirates of the Caribbean, but in the end it's always so much fun talking about the passion behind music, and Danna's perspective of it is truly inspiring.Watch the video performance from the wine night on our YouTube and follow Post Saga to hear 'Paradise Island' or catch them at a show! They emphasize the importance of focusing on one's own skills, gifts, and talents to profit from them in a positive and legal way. The hosts also discuss the dangers of losing one's purpose and the responsibility of not leading others astray. I started the Cracking Open podcast with a brand new Yeti microphone and a Jenna Kutcher workshop called The Podcast Lab, where I learned how to launch and run a podcast. Even more important? I ignored the people who said things like, “Why would you start a podcast in such a saturated market?” or “How will you get any guests? It's not like you're famous."  (Yes, someone really said this to me!) Instead, I listened deeply to my own inner cheerleader who has helped me stay the course and manifest my mission of bringing more human connection into the world. Today we launch our 50th episode! As we near the end of our 5th season, Cracking Open has reached over 20,000 downloads, and I've had the great honor of engaging in profoundly transformational conversations with some of the most prolific teachers, healers, artists, activists, survivors, authors, and leaders in the world! They are the changemakers who offer us different ways to look at our lives and the world around us. They are heart-centered humans who, through their own stories of pain and redemption, teach us to understand, forgive, and love ourselves and each other more deeply.Today's guest is exactly this kind of human. Suneel Gupta is an author and visiting scholar at Harvard Medical School who studies the most extraordinary people on the planet to discover and share simple, actionable habits to lift our performance and deepen our daily sense of purpose. His work has been featured by major outlets including CNBC, TED, and the New York Times. His newest book, Everyday Dharma: 8 Essential Practices for Finding Success and Joy in Everything You Do, was released in September and shares ancient wisdom, reimagined for modern times, as he helps us bring career goals and inner peace into harmony through tiny, everyday habits. I discovered Suneel while listening to his interview on The Good Life Project podcast. I found myself furiously taking notes as he shared his wisdom and tools on how to discover your Dharma. So get ready because Suneel has a wealth of incredible knowledge to share with us today on Cracking Open! In addition to providing practical and insightful tips, he is also a masterful storyteller. Trust me, you are in for a treat. If you want to know how to discover your own dharma and learn how to listen to your heart over your fears, this is the episode for you.Suneel was exactly who I wanted to celebrate my Dharma and 50th episode with on the Cracking Open podcast.  So from the bottom of my heart, thank you Suneel, all of the other 49 amazing guests, and all of you who have made this podcast what it is today. Are you just going through the motions of life? Or are you living it to the fullest? It may be time to change your perspective. Going from a “have-to” to a “get-to” view is an eye-opening experience that can help you be intentional about the choices you make every day.In this episode, I discuss the difference between a “get-to” and a “have-to” perspective. I talk about how you can face the trials and tribulations required to Get-To the other side of this goal that you want, as opposed to the “have-to” perspective. Are you ready to change your perspective?Tune in to the episode to improve your life and learn how to be a “get-to” person! Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation:Changing your perspective from a “have-to” to a “get-to”.You always have the freedom to choose.Be intentional and purposeful.Your mindset may be holding you back from becoming your desired future self.Stop being reactive and start being proactive about what you do every day.Episode Highlights:[2:05] “Get-to” vs “Have-to”: Shifting Your PerspectiveThe distinction between “get-to” and “have-to” is a simple one to make. It's a tactic to shift the mindset and get more out of life. Behavior comes before motivation; action comes before motivation.Shifting your perspective from a “have-to” to a “get-to” is an excellent tactic to get you into action. Think about the things you get to do and be grateful that you get to do them.[4:26] Everything You Do is a ChoiceYou always have a choice in everything you do. Everything you're doing is a “get-to” option, a “get-to” behavior, a “get-to” activity. You don't have to do anything. That is when you have the decision to make. [8:24] The Fear That Life Will Come To An End Life will come to an end, and you will have regrets that you wished you had lived a different life. Make it a point to do it with passion and intentionality. Bronnie Ware, a hospice nurse, did research documenting the answers of her patients who were near death. Most people's biggest regret is not living the life they wanted instead of doing what they thought others expected of them.[11:07] There are Only Two Choices in Everything That You DoAsk yourself, "What if I didn't have to do it?" You have a choice in what we do. If you maintain a “have-to” attitude about it, then fear drives you, not faith. The choices you make are driven by fear or by faith.Notable quotes from the Episode:[2:20] “Behavior precedes motivation, or action comes before motivation.”[3:16] “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”[ 4:38] “By having this “get-to” perspective, you have a choice in every single thing that you do.”[10:16] “People are not living the lives that they intentionally want to live, they're living a “have- to” life instead of a “get-to” life.Resources Mentioned:Bronnie Ware: Regrets of the DyingConnect with Wyatt Graves: LinkedIn | WebsiteThe Mentee Podcast: Website |

Wake the Faith up Slayer… This is Garth Heckman with the David Alliance and you can reach me at TDAgiantslayer@gmail.com    Brought to you by wellbuiltbody.com Gym Apparel for men and women that rocks and shocks and ain't for everybody - but just might be for you. wellbuiltbody.com   just got back from this Muskie trip… and I found myself asking a lot of questions… why this rod, why this reel, what this bait, how should I reel , where should I cast, what happens if it bites, what if it swims up to the boat following my lure?… and you know what asking questions is a great way to live your life….   I don't want you to waste your life… it would be tragic if you did, or didn't realize it until it is too late.    I want to challenge you with a few questions that I hope you truly chew on and use as a litmus test for your life. First question is does it matter in the long run? Is what you spend your time on, whatever your life goal is, where you put any type of energy be it financial, mental, time, etc… does it really matter at the end of your life. Let me explain what we call the law of diminish returns… it is best understood in dating, you hold hands, you kiss, you french kiss, you fondle, you have sex… that is the short course. It is an eating away of levels that should be there to protect. But the longer you let the little foxes in, pretty soon they spoil the whole vineyard.  So you have some things in your life that to you matter, but maybe they are harmless except for the fact that they are step one to diminishing what is truly important in life.  You have a hobby… you play baseball as an adult male in the mens league… nothing wrong with that but it takes up time, money and you have no interest whatsoever being a light to the other players or trying to win them to Christ. But it is just the tip of the iceberg. Because it steals time away from your church attendance and maybe your tithing, it gives a bad impression or the wrong impression to your kids… in time they don't go to church at all and now your grandkids don't even find the thought of God at all appealing… its old fashion. And you say… well that didn't just happen because I played baseball as a hobby as an adult… I disagree- I think it had everything to do with it… while maybe only one of the pieces, they all played a part into your diminishing returns as a follower of Christ. Is your life and your life choices really matter in the long run?….  NEXT 2 QUESTIONS HAND IN HAND What are you doing? Great question? No matter what you are doing - what are you doing? Why are you doing it?   Here is the surest test of this question… no matter what you are doing answer these 2 in light of what you are doing.  Does it lead to actionable transformation in your life? Does it advance the kingdom of God? **I mean really take time and look at the music you listen to, the church you go to, the people you hang with, the hobbies you participate in, the food you eat, the schedule you keep, the words you use, the places you surf on your phone, the words and conversation you have… EVERYTHING YOU DO, GO, THINK - What ever makes you- you… is it leading to transformation in your life?  Are you going to be more like Jesus in a noticeably marked way in a few months,,, and even more so in a few years…  look we just don't have time to mess around with things that don't translate in transformation in our lives. Finally does it advance the kingdom of God. What is the kingdom of God? It is doing things Gods way. It is living, believing and acting as if heaven is here on earth. We demand in prayer and faith for Gods will to be done here on earth… and we see results.  It is simply living in such a way “with Christ as our model” that the non believer believes and the weak Christian is strengthened, and our walk promotes who Jesus is. We live in such a way that we make Jesus famous!    Look what you have filled your life up with..well…  It might feel good, it might even be good… but does it fall into either of these categories? Chewing gum is good, it tastes good… it does nothing… and in time may actually give you cavities.    In fact it may feel good, sound good, you may be told it is good, but it may in fact lead to demonic possession, oppression, depression, suppression or a watered down mission and a room full of hot fudge sundaes… and no meat - no substance.  Is what you are doing really matter? Is Jesus more famous because of what you do?

Musings on Sanctuary and Spirituality with Helen Joy Butler is a weekly podcast where we talk about Sanctuary, Spirituality, and everything in between! On her own Sanctuary journey Helen discovered that by bringing calm, connection and kindness into all aspects of her life she was able to open the channel to her spiritual gifts and abilities as a psychic, intuitive and energy healer. With her gentle approach, Helen shares practical and spiritual ways you can make real change in your life and return to your true Spiritual nature, all through the concept of Sanctuary. Episode Notes Many years ago four Sanctuary tenets landed. These tenets 'sit' at the top of The Sanctuary Pyramid and are there to guide us on our journey. Earlier this year however a fifth - and perhaps final! - tenet landed, and as soon as it did I felt such a deep truth and connection to it I felt that the puzzle was complete (for now!). In this episode of Musings on Sanctuary and Spirituality I share The four original Sanctuary tenets - Sanctuary is Sacred; Sanctuary is Deep Self Awareness; Sanctuary is You at Your Core, and at the Core of Everything You Do; and Sanctuary is Your Unique Connection with the Universe - and what they actually mean The fifth (and final?) Sanctuary tenet - Sanctuary is Your Soul Vibration Made Manifest - and what that actually means The concept of a Passion Board, a practical and fun way to connect with this fifth tenet so that it makes sense for you That I'm taking a Sanctuary Siesta and an extended pause from all things in my business, and what that looks like for you Links Episode 16 - What is Sanctuary really? https://www.helenjoybutler.com/podcast/episode-16-what-is-sanctuary-really/ Blog https://www.helenjoybutler.com/blog/ YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqWl9Ry7-ZwHnGZXoxnWyNw Sanctuary Resources https://www.helenjoybutler.com/resources/ Dive more deeply with my work on Sanctuary and Spirituality at https://www.helenjoybutler.com/

The Book Evangelists discuss The Splendid and the Vile by Erik Larson Morning Chatter We are finally discussing The Splendid and the Vile: A Saga of Churchill, Family, and Defiance During the Blitz. Our region of the country is experiencing all of the seasons this week: several inches of late April snow, lovely spring plants flourishing, an upcoming afternoon forecast in the 80s. Cover the tomatoes at night, that's the plan. The Splendid and the Vile On Winston Churchill's first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next twelve months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally–and willing to fight to the end. In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson shows how Churchill taught the British people “the art of being fearless.” It is a story of political brinkmanship, but it's also an intimate domestic drama, set against the backdrop of Churchill's prime-ministerial country home, Chequers; his wartime retreat, Ditchley, where he and his entourage go when the moon is brightest and the bombing threat is highest; and of course 10 Downing Street in London. Drawing on diaries, original archival documents, and once-secret intelligence reports–some released only recently–Larson provides a new lens on London's darkest year through the day-to-day experience of Churchill and his family: his wife, Clementine; their youngest daughter, Mary, who chafes against her parents' wartime protectiveness; their son, Randolph, and his beautiful, unhappy wife, Pamela; Pamela's illicit lover, a dashing American emissary; and the advisers in Churchill's “Secret Circle,” to whom he turns in the hardest moments. Discussion Questions How real is real, even when exhaustively researched? Does this make you want to keep a detailed diary? How will personal text messages or emails be treated in future memoirs and historical record? What can we learn as writers from this book? How does this story turn reality into an exciting/interesting narrative that follows the “rules” of fiction? Why did it take each of us so long to read this book? Bonus Book in Progress We are both currently reading The Power of Ritual: How to Create Meaning and Connection in Everything You Do by Casper ter Kuile and bringing some of the sacred reading suggestions into our discussion here. Reading about other people improves our ability to understand and cooperate with others and ultimately to understand ourselves Could this book, The Splendid and the Vile, or the original speeches by Churchill, or some of the letters or diaries– be something for a sacred reading/discussion? What would we each want to choose as a sacred text? Coming Up Next episode: Marian and Lissa will read and discuss two fantasy books written for youth, which Marian read in her youth and Lissa has not read. Yet. A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin The Book of Three The Chronicles of Prydain, Book 1 by Lloyd Alexander Pssst! Want to See Something Cool? Marian's first book A Little Touch of Magic is now available! There are fairies. Someone has a tail. Must be a fairytale. FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY How would you like to know what your driven-money is driven by? The two most anxiety stimulating topics we have is about money or sex. Both reach into the most personal spaces of our identity. For someone to talk about that space touches us in our biological nervous system. To become vulnerable and transparent about these topics reveals our emotional fragility. Why? Our primal brains are asking, “Am I safe?”, then “Do I belong?”, and finally “What can I learn?”, in that exact sequence. Money and sex makes us feel vulnerable, exposed and threatened. Because of our griefs, losses and traumas - that have been sustained over a lifetime - we are embedded with coding in our subconscious processing. Have you ever wondered why you feel such shame around your imperfections with money? What if we could help you separate from the shame-voice by safely exploring the neuroscience behind why you spend the way you spend, or save the way you save, or give the way you give? Every Jesus-follower I have ever met wants to be great managers of money, but feel they are flawed and disappointing to God. It’s time to open our hearts to Jesus’ teachings about our challenges with money and let His healing graces restore our souls!   If you can't make it next week or in person, tune in by live stream at mylifepointe.com/sermons .  BEGINS:  March 1, 2020 WHERE:  LifePointe Church | 2080 E 151st Street | Olathe (Kansas City) TIME:  10am   TODAY’S MESSAGE   FINANCIAL HABITS, PATTERNS AND FANTASIES ARE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF; THEY ARE SOME OF OUR GREATEST TEACHERS! __________________  THE HEART IS WHERE EVERYTHING STARTS!   PROVERBS 4:23 NIV Above all else, GUARD YOUR HEART, for EVERYTHING YOU DO flows from it. __________________ THE ABUNDANCE OF GOOD AND THE ABUNDANCE OF PAIN COME FROM THE ABUNDANCE OF THE HEART.   LUKE 6:45 NKJV (Jesus said) A good man out of the good treasure of his HEART brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his HEART brings forth evil. When we talk about prayer, the image that comes to mind for most people is that of one's head bowed, eyes closed, hands clasped, and perhaps kneeling — perhaps not. This is the classic prayer for posture. We turn our attention inward and upward. Visit insidepersonalgrowth.com/ to browse 700+ author interviews.

Click that play button to listen! Don't forget to subscribe and rate us on Apple Podcasts! Make your employees successful Your job as a leader is to provide as much knowledge, as much resources as you can to your people. Assuming you're hiring very skilled talent, you want to make sure that you're giving them a space to excel in. You want to be able to let your people grow so much that they're going to get headhunted all the time, because your organization is topnotch. And that's OK. Make time for learning If you really think you don't have time, then stop watching Netflix at night. Stop your streaming services. Stop watching your favorite sports games. Don't go on social media – you'll get three hours back into your day. Sometimes that can be tough to hear. But a lot of us can absolutely find the time to learn, whether it's sitting and reading, listening on the ride to work. I constantly remind my network of that because it's so easy to get distracted with the every day that you actually don't read or don't consume or develop anything. And then you tell yourself this narrative, this lie, that there's no time, when in fact there actually is time. Listen, and continue to listen. Listen. If you're a new manager, even if you're a new executive – don't try to change anything in the first 90 days. You just want to listen. Listen to all your team members. Listen to your clients. Listen to your managers, the stakeholders. You don't want to change anything right away. You want to know what's going on before you can implement something or change something or bring in what you think is better for the role. Ultimately, it's highly likely that you're coming into a role that you're replacing someone. So something's going on. Something went right, something went wrong. That's a great opportunity to really listen to the people who have been there before.   Links and Resources Connect with Edwin: LinkedIn Twitter https://thebusinessleadership.com/ The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Welcome to The New Leader Podcast. I'm your host, Ian Daley. Today we're going to talk about Creativity in Leadership – why it's important, and how leaders can be more creative. Today's guest is Ron Tite. Ron is a speaker, and the Founder and CEO of Church+State, a Toronto-based marketing agency. He's also the author of Everyone's an Artist (or At Least They Should Be), published by HarperCollins in 2016. Ron has been an award-winning writer and creative director for brands such as Air France, Evian, Johnson & Johnson and Intel, to name a few. In this episode, we look at: Ron's first experience as a manager, the definition of a true leader, his biggest win and biggest loss, the importance of creativity in leadership, his favorite streamlining tools and how they make work more efficient, and a lot more. I hope you enjoy this one.   Ron's First Management Role My real first management role was my very first job. Like most comedians and creative directors, I did a Phys. Ed. degree. My very first job was helping launch the National Executive MBA program at Queen's University – the Queen's School of Business. There I was, a Phys. Ed. grad. I didn't know how I got there, but being an administrator and a manager in a School of Business, launching a video conference Executive MBA program, was not something I spoke to my high school guidance counselor then. I landed in this place because I was there as a summer student. The Director of it said, “You're smart enough to really understand where we have to take this. You're a good enough team player that you can build trust with people and rally people around a shared cause. You're competitive because of your athletic background, but you're not too competitive, like you're not a jerk about it.” True Leadership When we talk about leadership, we talk about direct reports. But the reality is, with this outsourced world, with this gig economy, and with these fuzzy lines between roles, where people are inside your organization or outside your organization, they're a contractor, or a freelancer – whatever. All that stuff goes away now. True leaders are the ones who can rally a group of people around a shared purpose. Sometimes those people report to you and sometimes they don't. Why Creativity is Important As a Leader The key aspect of creativity is when somebody stops and asks themselves, “Hold on a second. What if there are no rules?” The complete opposite of creativity is doing things the way you always do them, and that's the way a lot of leaders operate. There's a set of rules, and you follow the rules. Here's the 5-step plan to leading people. This is what you do on a daily basis. You do an HR-mandated 360 review. This is how it goes; this is the document you use. These are the things you say. And you do that, and it becomes efficient. You guarantee quality. You all follow the same steps every single time. It's an assembly line of leadership. And there are people who have built their careers with no absolute brilliance, but with an absolute commitment and discipline to following the rules. There are things you do, there are ways you dress, there are things that you say – and if you just follow those rules, you'll do very well. The problem is that pretty much in every aspect of leadership, pretty much in every single category on the planet, all those rules have been thrown out the window. We are now in a situation where there are no rules. We're seeing entire categories being completely disrupted simply because of outside disruptors who are solving the problems the establishment can't, or won't. And the reason they are solving these problems is because they're not following the rules.   Links and Resources Connect with Ron: LinkedIn Visit their website: https://churchstate.co/ | http://rontite.com/ Everyone's an Artist (or At Least They Should Be): How Creativity Gives You the Edge in Everything You Do by Ron Tite, Scott Kavanagh and Christopher Novais The Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television by George Carlin Slack Evernote Scrivener ICONIC: How Organizations and Leaders Attain, Sustain, and Regain the Highest Level of Distinction by Scott McKain All the Light We Cannot See: A Novel by Anthony Doerr

Do you put GOD 1st? Put GOD 1st in EVERYTHING YOU DO.  If you do not want to use the name GOD, use Divine Creator, Energy, LORD, Father, Best Friend ,The Light, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Lord of the Hosts. Other names used by Christians include Ancient of Days, Father/Abba, "Most High" and the Hebrew names Elohim, El-Shaddai, Yahweh, Jehovah and Adonai etc. I love the energy that the creator has put in me, in us. I know he is with me and I know our creator has our back. We must be faithful to him and ourselves so we can be faithful to others. Those that are truly open to him know his power, Love Is Power.  Matthew 6:28-33  And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. ... The Creator knows what we need and want, trust in him fully. Seek love and everything else great will follow.
