A motley crew of soldiers, officers, and pilots embarks on a perilous trek through the Afghani desert to find Liam Morales. After learning the direction of the mysterious Black Valley by speaking to tribal leaders in Qluuj Khel, the officers realize they need Hyde's cooperation and agree to bring her along for the expedition. However, Afghanistan is a land fraught with danger, and it isn't long before the party finds themselves fighting for their lives. As the threats intensify, Hyde must confront the harsh question: how many of her allies is she willing to sacrifice to find her brother? And what will she do when she finally stands before “The Sleeper” in the heart of the Black Valley? This episode concludes our playthrough of the scenario “Kali Ghati” by Shane Ivey. Their mission: track down the disappearance of fellow agent, Liam Morales, who went missing days ago. Unbeknownst to them, Liam's sister, Kona (call sign: Hyde), is the helicopter pilot flying them to the station, harboring her own intentions to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper, both parties discover unsettling details about Liam's recent behavior – heavy drinking, occult books, and strange dreams. Sam and Matt recently returned from GenCon 2014, after running 8 different games for Arc Dream publishing. After each day at the con we recorded a short breakdown of the day’s events. YO INTERNET, WASSUP?! Look, it’s only been a month since last we posted! WE CAN DO THIS MONTHLY POSTING THING! Also thanks to Sean for our shiny intro! First off, we recently finished Monster ISS, we’re going to post a short Little Fears interlude by Charlie, followed by Prominence, SC, a street-level Batman-inspired Wild Talents campaign. Secondly, your voice was heard last month, leading to The Devil’s Bazaar being posted. There is a new poll up with NEW OPTIONS! SIGN UP AND VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE! SkyMaul – Run by Matt. This is a 99 cent module written by Shane Ivey. It involves antics on a plane. The Longest Night of Your Life – Run by Sam. This is part three of the campfire tales. Children try to go to sleep and find they are unable to. Horror ensues. Crossover Megamix! – Run by Sam. This is a Complete Bull$#!@ game that was originally going to be run in Rifts. Every character from every game we have played thus far shows up at some point in this (I think). It is. . . impressive. Transatlantic – Run by NO ONE. A Fiasco! game we played with Joshua Chichester at the end of the last Drunk and Ugly Con. Ichor Falls: Prelude – Run by Sam. A Little Fears adventure set in 1986, based on Kris Straub’s Ichor Falls. Our topic for today: Long-form game design. How do you write campaigns or mini-campaigns? Hell, I don’t know, but this is a clear approximation of everything. I finally got a chance to try out the indie RPG, Fiasco at Gencon this year. I played with several people from the Arc Dream crew, including Shane Ivey and Greg Stolze. We used the Transatlantic playset: The time is 1932, the place? Somewhere in the mid-Atlantic aboard the luxury cruise ship Leviathan, a week out of Southampton en route to New York. On this flagship cruiser's maiden voyage, the Captain has been directed to quietly contend for the glorious Blue Riband — the accolade awarded to the fastest crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. Topside, you enjoy a salty Gibson while pulling the heavy double wool of your coat closer to your body. Friends make merry with lively talk amongst themselves — it's a din barely overheard above the hammering engine and thresh of the ship's mighty propellers. Spray from the bow's cleave manages to catch your cheek even this far aft. Your gaze draws across the dull, slate waters wondering at the marvel of it all: New beginnings? Maybe this time things will be different? Perhaps your dreams are within reach? What could possibly go wrong?
