A few weeks back we lamented on the lack of fantasy movies. They were a part of our childhoods that we love and missed. As if on cue, we talk about the news regarding the new Red Sonja movie - another childhood favorite. We also revisit Dead Mail before it debuts on Shudder in April.The 1970s were the peak of nunsploitation. It would not last long, but a number of memorable nun horror films were released. While it has not returned to that level, there has been an increase in genre films centered around nuns. Perhaps even more surprising is that they have often been pretty good.The Baby in the Basket has a lot going for it. It looks like a Gothic horror movie straight out of the 70s. It also leans into its wacky premise. From the demonic baby to some graphic sexual content, this movie does not play around. It is unfortunate that as much effort was not put into the writing.Rob Zombie is a polarizing figure in the horror community. While some love the shock value of his movies, others wonder if he really likes horror movies or is just trying to turn everyone against them. So when we heard that his brother Spider One had written and directed a horror movie we were interested. Especially after we saw the trailer which hinted that Little Bites was about a monster that is slowly eating a person alive.Yes, it is early in the year and yes, Nosferatu was an incredibly creepy villain, but did we come across the best Big Bad of 2025? Agyar is definitely a frightening creature. Every scene he is in will make your skin crawl. You cannot wait for him to get off the screen. And this is meant as a compliment.There are some noticeable missteps along the way. For the most part, they can be chalked up to Spider One's feature film inexperience. That being said, they do stick out in and leave a negative aftertaste. But how much do they affect Little Bites? And what does Cher have to do with everything? "Death Valley" is a comedy horror mockumentary series that aired on MTV in 2011. The show follows the Undead Task Force (UTF), a newly formed division of the Los Angeles Police Department, as they combat supernatural creatures like vampires, werewolves, and zombies in the San Fernando Valley. The series is presented in a documentary style, with a camera crew filming the task force's encounters with these monsters. Despite Death Valley's unique concept (created by Powerman 5000 frontman Spider One) and interesting cast, including Bryan Callen, Caity Lotz, and Bryce Johnson, MTV decided not to renew it for a second season. Interview by Kris Peters.It seems inconceivable that a major international band could be on the world touring circuit for over three decades and never played a note in anger in Australia.Almost criminal in fact, but when that band is Powerman 5000 it doesn't take long to move on and forget the thirty year snub and merely rejoice in the fact that they are finally coming.Very soon in fact.Powerman 5000 land in this country in around two weeks time, starting the nationwide trek in Brisbane at The Zoo on January 12.Not only will the pioneering industrial/nu-metal heavyweights be armed with a plethora of awesome hits up their collective sleeves, they are also celebrating the recent 21st anniversary of their breakthrough debut album Tonight The Stars Revolt!, spearheaded by the song that changed the landscape of metal as we know it, When Worlds Collide.HEAVY sat down for an enlightening chat with frontman Spider One, starting by emphasising the point that Australian fans have been neglected by the band for far too long."It is kind of amazing," he smiled. "We've been touring since 1996 or 97 and for some reason we've either eluded Australia or Australia's eluded us, but we are finally getting there, which is kinda cool. I mean, it's not that common after being in a band for thirty years or so that you can say you're gonna do something for the first time. We've toured the States so much, and I can pretty much tell you exactly what a night in Dallas, Texas is gonna be like. Or a night in Los Angeles is gonna be like. But I don't know what a night in Sydney's gonna be like, I have no idea. So it's gonna be exciting."In the full interview, Spider talks us through the 21st Anniversary of Tonight The Stars Revolt!, why he thinks that album resonated like it did in the metal community, their role in bridging the gap between industrial metal and nu-metal, the early days of Powerman 5000 and how they shaped their sound, lessons learnt from his older brother Rob Zombie that helped Powerman 5000 in their formative years, blending his love of sci-fi and horror into their music, appearing on Beverley Hills 90210, coming back from being dropped by Dreamworks Records in 1996, revitalising the band, his side gig directing films, what we can expect from Powerman 5000 on tour and more.

Allegoria (2022) is an anthology written/directed by Spider One (yes, the same Spider One from Powerman 5K). I really enjoyed this movie and I hope that it wins some type of award. The subliminal messages are put together like a puzzle creating a very unique and surprising movie that I really enjoyed. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who loves the combination of art & fear (and the legendary Spider One). The directing, the acting, and the dialogue were all on point and exceptional. I cannot wait to see what this leads to.
Michael David Cummings — better known as Spider-One, the lead singer of the hard rock band Powerman 5000 and younger brother to Rob Zombie — decided to follow his sibling into filmmaking with his own movie after he had previously directed several of his group's music videos. The inspiration for his first film was based on his own writer's block as a musician and how he struggled to live a creative life while also bowing to the demands of his own emotions not to mention the financial constraints that come along with that kind of career. Musician and filmmaker Spider One discusses diving into the podcasting world by writing, narrating, and producing the immersive scary story podcast “Bleeders DIEgest.” Plus, a true crime podcast that's updating in real time and a recommendation for “Anna Faris Is Unqualified” fans.
It's an album that contains multitudes this month, as the storylines are aplenty around PM5K's breakthrough album. The lead singer is Rob Zombie's brother. He's obsessed with science fiction (or so he says). The album contains almost no emotion whatsoever in a genre known for its ability to capture the feelings of youth. It's supposedly a loose concept album, but there doesn't seem to be a concept other than vague lyrics about space and martians. Simply put, there's a lot going on and we tackle it all, from their breakthrough on the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater soundtrack and an early Ozzfest album, to Spider-One's perplexing interviews that paint a picture of a guy who might not be all that into science fiction after all, especially for a guy who never stops talking about it. This is also our two-year anniversary show, and we reflect a little bit on what has changed in the nu-metal landscape since we started in 2019 and how the podcast has meant a lot to the both of us. Ugly people make the best music. Enough with all these model/entertainers.”. Fear not though, after discussing this dilemma with Lunchbox and Promo Brady he realized that we do have Ed Sheeran. Spider touched on his new album “New Wave” and why he decided to go with that title. Perhaps paying homage to The Cars, The Cure, and more. The first single is “Sid Vicious In A Dress”. Shockingly Spider found out how archaic of a name Sid Vicious is these days. Possibly the epidome of lyrical cynosure. Fan response to “New Wave” has been positive and Powerman 5000 has been making the rounds on tour and will be making a stop at Rocklahoma. He talked about the chaotic feel of music festivals in general. Powerman 5000 has been looped into the the genre of Nu Metal. When Worlds Collide (Powerman 5000 song) "When Worlds Collide" is a song by the band Powerman 5000 from their album Tonight the Stars Revolt!. The song is virtually always the last song to be played at concerts. It is one of the band's most well-known songs and has been used in the video games Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, WWE Smackdown! vs. Raw, and in the 2000 film Little Nicky. It is also used as the entrance music for Purdue Boilermakers home college football games played at Ross–Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. Spider One has stated that the song is about social classes. In 2016 the band accused Square Enix of stealing the song for use in their popular MMO Final Fantasy XIV.
