This week, The Boo Crew takes you to Monsterpalooza 2025 for a LIVE panel celebrating the blood-soaked insanity of Terrifier 3! Join Trevor on stage with Terrifier creator Damien Leone and the man behind Art the Clown, David Howard Thornton — plus a surprise mid-panel appearance by horror icon Dan Roebuck! They dive into building a horror legacy, the wild ride of indie filmmaking, the secrets behind the gore, and what could be next for the Terrifier universe. It's a brutally honest, hilarious, and insightful convo — straight from the heart of Monsterpalooza.
Parker from Dissect That Film joins us to cover the sensation that is Terrifier. The film is shockingly polar and there are few fans that hover in the middle of this film. The perfect example of "you love it or you hate it." If you're here to listen to Charlie crap on a movie then this is your episode, however Charlie is very good at making his points clear and succinct without becoming a petulant child pouting in the corner because he watched a movie with a clown. Anna and Parker are fans but also see the numerous flaws in the film. Pete was recovering from a long bender of a weekend and can not be bothered. Despite all the discourse, everyone agreed that the gore and David Howard Thornton's performance as Art the Clown are a chef's kiss and deserve the all the accolades. Now if we could just get a 90 minute cut of Terrifier 2 and 3 we might have a hell of a franchise on our hands.
Only one day after Steamboat Willie entered the public domain last year, it was announced that a horror film based on this iconic whistling mouse was in development. Tune in as we chat with Steven LaMorte (Director/Co-Writer), Amy Schumacher (Producer/Star), and Allison Pittel (Star) all about making “Screamboat,” how they turned David Howard Thornton into a mouse-sized murderer, and the NSFW kill scene that had Matt squealing like a little girl.“Screamboat” is currently available to rent on VOD or buy on DVD or Blu-Ray.

Ryan and Graham are back with their Top 10-ish Horror Movies of 2024—because sticking to 10 is kind of weak. We're diving into this year's killer horror lineup, giving props to independent horror (always!), and spreading some serious love for David Howard Thornton (still buzzing from our chat with him). Are top ten lists ridiculous? Totally. But we're here for the fun, the chaos, and the honorable mentions galore. How many films make Ryan's list? 10? 12? 20? It's anyone's guess. We've got laughs, indie shoutouts, and all the appreciation for the genre that makes our dark little hearts so happy.
Sorry for the long title, but there's just so much we talked about! We're thrilled to welcome David Howard Thornton back to the show. We dive into the meteoric rise of the Terrifier franchise and independent horror, exploring how he went from a cult horror character to a bona fide icon and the benefits of opting out of the MPAA process. We even share some unexpected parenting advice! We also dig into his upcoming horror short/proof-of-concept, Joker's Wild, which he describes as a story from A Death in the Family turned up to 11. David takes on his dream role as the Joker, and our conversation unpacks the many interpretations of the character over the years, what makes each unique, and the challenges and joys of putting his own spin on such an iconic figure. Plus, we talk about which iconic character Ryan thinks David should play next! If you're a fan of horror podcasts, horror movies, or comic books, this episode is packed with incredible insights and fun stories. PUBLIC VERSION. Actor David Howard Thornton (“Art the Clown” from the TERRIFIER series, STREAM, THE MEAN ONE) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen in the ArieScope Studio to share his career journey. From a bullied kid growing up in Alabama who realized he had the ability to make people laugh… to becoming a teacher and quickly realizing that he got more fulfillment out of entertaining his students than actually teaching them… to going through a difficult period of hardships that ultimately pushed him to go after his dream of acting rather than playing life safe… to being the understudy for Stefán Karl Stefánsson in “The Grinch” and performing in other small roles… to the literal “flip of a coin” that saw him lose out on one role but gain the opportunity to become the now iconic “Art the Clown”… to his process of transforming into “Art” and how he comes up with many of the characters' mannerisms based on feel and only once on the actual set… to how his stage experience in theater has made him find “method acting” unnecessary for his own process in his film roles… to what it's really like on set when he's shooting such violent sequences and the kill in TERRIFIER 3 that almost made him throw up on set… to getting canned from performing a voice for a children's show halfway through the season when the producers realized that he was the same actor who played “Art the Clown” in TERRIFIER… to his ongoing prank war with Kane Hodder (“Victor Crowley”) at conventions and the incredible love that fans have shown him at appearances… to his close brush with tragedy during the making of STREAM and specific signs from the universe that have reminded him that he is indeed on the right path… David's journey to icon status is certainly one for the horror history books! TERRIFIER 3 is in theaters now! Happy Halloween! The 26th annual ArieScope Halloween short film (THE PET SITTER) is now streaming FREE on www.ariescope.com and the ArieScope YouTube channel!

The promos for Terrifier 3 claim that Art the Clown is "practically as much of a horror icon as Michael, Jason, and Freddy," and based on what Monica and Sydney saw at Midsummer Scream, that just might be true. We had to check it out for ourselves — which is why we're kicking off Sydneypalooza by throwing it back to Terrifier (2016). This movie may not have marked Art's original debut (that honor goes to All Hallows' Eve), but it was his first solo flick and David Howard Thornton's first turn in the role. It's also batshit crazy, and we're breaking it all down on Sydney's birthday episode of Spooky Tuesday.References:https://youtu.be/QIprVbrIwKk?si=AmhFPUVW7TZTJQ5zhttps://www.thedailybeast.com/terrifier-actress-on-the-nude-death-scene-that-made-horror-movie-history

David Howard Thornton portrays Art the Clown in the films, Terrifier and Terrifier 2. He is talking about the process of becoming Art and how he took some of his mentors and smashed them into one character. What is Art the Clown? You'll find out that answer as well. David and Hodge also talk about the state of movies and the entertainment industry post COVID. Hear what David thinks is the scariest scene in Terrifier, and what the hardest scene was to film. Hodge and David bond about being from the south and the toughest part of transitioning into living in New York City. David is also talking about the state of filming Terrifier 2 and gives a little background on what the film will based around.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! And this time, Andrew flew to Los Angeles to spend a couple days with Scotty. And while he was there, they went to see "Terrifier 3" on opening night. And then, they recorded their first ever in-person episode, sitting right next to each other! And it tore them apart.Just kidding! It did not tear them apart, but they did disagree about how they felt about this movie. In this episode, they get into the lore of Art the Clown and Sienna Shaw. They talk about those brutal kills in the movie. And they talk about whether this movie takes things a bit too far. And at the end of the episode, Andrew choose their next movie! In "Terrifier 3", once again written and directed by Damien Leone, Art the Clown is back five years after the events of the last movie. Sienna has spent some time in a mental hospital after the trauma she and her bother suffered, and is ready to spend the Christmas holidays with her aunt and uncle. But of course, things begin to escalate in terrifying ways, bringing Sienna and Art face to face once more.Feel free to send us a message! What did you think of this movie? Of this episode?
