Between 1974 and 1975 a serial killer was believed to be targeting members of the LGBTQ community in San Francisco. The suspect was believed to go to bars and diners, and sketch caricature and cartoons on napkins, he would then approach men and strike up a conversation. He would eventually leave with those men, only to end up stabbing and killing them. Since he was known for drawing and sketching before killing his victims, the suspect became known as “The Doodler”. 5 men were found stabbed to death and a 6th was later tied to the case, however to this day, the killer, or the “doodler's” identity is unknown.  If you have any information about murders connected to the Doodler, please call the San Francisco PD's 24-hour tip line at 415-575-4444 or text them at TIP411. Kaveh Madani warned Iran about water scarcity 20 years ago. He was called a "water terrorist." Now Iran is experiencing an extreme water crisis, its like not seen for more than six decades. Tehran, famous for its surrounding snowy mountains, has had no rain in over 200 days. Its main water sources are in a dire situation; two major dams supplying the capital are at less than 10 per cent capacity. Episode No. 683 features artist Tala Madani and curator Jamillah James. James is the curator of "The Living End: Painting and Other Technologies, 1970-2020" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Madani is among the 60-plus artists included in the exhibition. "The Living End" surveys the arc of painting over the last half-century with a particular focus on artists who have redefined painting by using new technologies, imaging techniques, and their own bodies. The Henry Art Gallery at the University of Washington is presenting "Tala Madani: Be flat," a solo exhibition featuring recent and newly commissioned work that explores the influence of symbols, language, and mark-making on power dynamics and individual agency. It was curated by Shamim M. Momin and is on view through August 17, 2025. Madani makes paintings and painting-informed animations that consider gender, political authority, and representation. Her work typically includes bald, middle-aged men in bizarre, often hilarious circumstances. She has had solo shows at museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Secession, Vienna; the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, and the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo.
