I'm so excited to talk about Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which makes its return after a lengthy remodel. It has been well executed and it's as fun as ever--though perhaps in a slightly less bumpy way--at least for the moment. But the ride's real story starts way earlier, in the myths America told itself about the frontier and the Western movies that turned those myths into pop culture. We follow that thread from Frederick Jackson Turner's famous frontier thesis to how Walt Disney shaped his original Frontierland into something that resembles actual history.Then things get messy. Mark Davis' fingerprints are all over Disney's greatest achievements and in the late-'60s he began designing his theme park masterpiece: Thunder Mesa and the Western River Expedition. The refreshed scenes add improved movement, facial detail, and lighting enhancements that noticeably elevate the attraction's finale. The update signals Disney's continued investment in existing attractions while larger park expansions continue around the resort. Mardi Gras at Port Orleans Over at Disney's Port Orleans Resort, Mardi Gras celebrations added festive color and energy. The resort's New Orleans inspiration makes it a natural fit for seasonal décor, specialty food, and lively atmosphere. EPCOT Transitions to Flower & Garden As Festival of the Arts winds down, EPCOT is already shifting toward the next season. A new gold and blue key design has been added as a 10th pin available through the experience.
