We're diving into Day 3 of our epic Disneyland adventure—and this one's all about next-level snacks, classic attractions, and one magical nightcap. We kick things off over at Disney California Adventure with an Impossible™ Breakfast Sha-Warm-Up from Shawarma Palace (plant-based goodness wrapped in flavor), plus a super cool Captain America Shield Sipper. The morning rides include a hot take on Mission: BREAKOUT!—featuring “Give Up the Funk”—and WEB SLINGERS, followed by some Disney classic ride charm with The Little Mermaid and Toy Story Midway Mania. Then it's snack time, and we don't hold back! We also dig into lemon pepper wings, birria mac & cheese, and the creative California Wine Cocktail. And of course, we couldn't skip the Mickey-shaped SNICKERS macaron. From there, it's off to Toontown for Runaway Railway, and a quick bite from Maurice's Treats before taking a well-earned break. Then Rhonda and I jump into a classic attraction tour: Adventureland Treehouse, Haunted Mansion, Pinocchio, Snow White, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.Later, we unwind with drinks at the Broken Spell Lounge and then head to the Craftsman Bar for an unforgettable setting and experience including a inventive mocktails, Sticky Chicken Wings, and a the Charcuterie Pizza. We finish the night with Alice, Mad Tea Party, fireworks viewed from Galaxy's Edge, drinks at Oga's Cantina, a thrilling ride on Big Thunder, the always-amazing Fantasmic!, and Pirates of the Caribbean. This was one packed day—and we're breaking it all down, one bite, ride, and story at a time. We're excited to introduce Balanced Weather — your go-to source for smart, reliable weather updates tailored for Walt Disney World and all of Central Florida.CEO Alan Gerard, a meteorologist and lifelong Disney fan, has been providing weekly weather reports to the Main Street Magic community for years and will now be bringing you weekly forecasts, plus answers to your questions about weather for your upcoming Disney, Universal, or Florida vacation.Visit balancedweather.com/wdw-weather to learn more and get the latest updates.MEI-Travel – Expertise. We also hear from a listener about wanting to work in the kids activities area, either in the parks or the resorts. With Walt Disney World not doing full blown Overlays as Disneyland does with the Haunted Mansion, it's fun to look at what could be. We'll hear from Stephen first with his idea to lightly add Christmas touches to Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Kaity will then talk about adding Coco to the Three Caballeros attraction in Epcot's Mexico Pavilion before talking about a fun idea of adding the holidays to Expedition Everest. Bryan then provides his idea of the Muppets Christmas Carol taking over Remy's Ratatouille Adventure and providing it from the point of view of Rizzo the Rat. This kicks off a conversation about the state of the Muppets. We even get into Honey, I Shrunk the Audience and Captain EO before getting back to Overlays. We'll consider the Simpson's taking over Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Muppet's Treasurer Island Overlaid on Pirates of the Caribbean. Before our last conversation about holiday music played by Sonny Eclipse at Cosmic Ray's, we have a fun conversation about Alien Extra-terror-estrial and a scary Stitch. You can find the Idiot's Guide to Imagineering on Instagram ‎@IdiotsImagineering  I appreciate them joining me this week! Make sure you hit that subscribe button so you know when there are new episodes. A big fan of the Disney Parks and Star Wars, Drama Desk Award-nominee Andrew Samonsky (Lempika, South Pacific, Come From Away, Bridges of Madison County) joins David to share his favorites stories and memories of going to Disney. Andrew is from California, so went to Disneyland as a kid, including a fun early birthday trip where he stayed at the Disneyland Hotel but wasn't able to sleep because he was too excited. Listen as he shares what made Disneyland magical for him as a kid, and what he finds charming as a "young at heart" when he returns to the Magic Kingdom today. Andrew and David discuss the quintessential Disneyland, and how the Anaheim park was their "true Disney." Andrew's love for the Disney Parks is contagious, especially his love of seeing Mickey Mouse in the Parks (and a fun story of seeing the Princesses), going on "Rise of the Resistance" (and his deep wish to meet Darth Vader), eating churros, and visiting "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway." Andrew explains how he and Kate Reinders (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Wicked, Gypsy, Something Rotten) ended up getting married at Walt Disney World, and how their trips to the Parks have shifted since having their wonderful kid, Luke. Not a stranger to Disney onstage, Andrew starred in the National Tour of "On The Record," a Broadway-style musical revue of the Disney musical catalogue (prompting this episode's game "On the Samonsky Record"), as well as the US premiere of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" starring as Phoebus. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode takes us to Toontown in Disneyland to see the updated Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.   We covered this attraction back in episode 82 of Attraction Checklist but here are a few more fast facts about the recent updates. 1. In December of 2021, several changes were made to the attraction, the main one being the addition of a storyline featuring Jessica Rabbit.  In the previous incarnation of the ride she was seen as more of a damsel in distress in the opening scene.  The update finds her in charge, helping stop the Weasels in her new bright yellow trench coat and fedora. 2. When Toontown closed for the addition of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin got a refurbishment with some polish and effect tweaks.  The updated version opened on March 19, 2023. Now let's go ride the updated Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.  John B. deHaas is along for the fun and we'll give you our thoughts on the updates after we ride.  This is a binaural recording so if you have headphone put them on now as we ride Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin at Disneyland. Our first Disney vacation is in the books! This episode of the Soul Forge is a day by day recap of our exciting adventures. At the end of each day, Shawn and Leah sat down and recorded their memories of the excitement. Florida in September is still quite warm. Walt Disney World requires a lot of walking. Here is the story... The Walt Disney World Resort, also called Walt Disney World or Disney World, or simply abbreviated WDW, is an entertainment resort complex in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, United States, near the cities of Orlando and Kissimmee. Opened on October 1, 1971, the resort is operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, a division of The Walt Disney Company. The property covers nearly 25,000 acres (39 sq mi; 101 km2), of which half has been used. The resort comprises four theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom), two water parks: (Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon), 31 themed resort hotels, nine non-Disney hotels, several golf courses, a camping resort, and other entertainment venues, including the outdoor shopping center Disney Springs. Shawn and Leah tell you about the nightmare that was getting from their Washington layover into Orlando. The weather did not cooperate so the flight was quite late. One common thing on the entire adventure was the lack of comfort in the seating, both on the jets and the buses. The humidity was off the charts. One of the best parts of our first Disney vacation was visiting with friend Jarman and his wife Jolie. Shawn and Leah went to Icon Park where they rode the Wheel of Orlando. They also visited a wax museum and the Sea Life Aquarium. The Florida Mall still has an operating Sears store! The Disney Character Wearhouse was always busy.  The food at most places was decent. The actual Disney part of the trip was exhausting due to so much walking and the heat. Fun parts include the ferry ride, the Skyliner, Toy Story Mania and Star Tours. The 50s Prime Time Cafe had wonderful food and ambience. We enjoyed Soarin' as well as Mickey's Runaway Railway rides. We got to see dolphins, lizards, manatees and a hammerhead shark. We were disappointed in Woody's Roundup BBQ and the lack of a direct route to Hollywood Springs from our hotel. Getting the park hopper option is a definite must. The Epcot food and wine festival was the favourite part of our first Disney vacation. This week's podcast promos: Earth Station One, Earth Station Who, Epsilon Three, and the ESO Patreon promo.

http://www.attractionchecklist.com -   Let's head to Toontown in Disneyland to check out the west coast version of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. Attraction audio recorded on July 31, 2023. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we are visiting the newly reimagined Toontown at Disneyland to ride Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. There are no age or height requirements for this attraction and  the Disneyland website describes it by saying, “Zoom off on a wild and wacky adventure through Mickey and Minnie's madcap cartoon world.”  The Thrill Level describes this attraction as being Dark, Loud and Slow. Before we present our tickets at the El CapiTOON Theater, here are 5 fast facts about Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. 1.  On April 19, 2019, Disney announced that Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway would open at Disneyland Park in 2022.  Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway officially opened at Disneyland on January 27, 2023. 2. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is a copy of the attraction of the same name at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, but the queue are is different. At Disneyland guests enter the attraction through the El CapiTOON Theater in Toontown. On display is a collection of “props” from Mickey Mouse cartoons called “Mickey Through The Ears.” 3. The popcorn seen in the queue's faux concession stand is shaped like Mickey, Minnie & Donald. 4. Minnie Mouse's voice actor Russi Taylor passed away after recording her lines for this attraction.  The song Nothing Can Stop Us Now, featured in the attraction, was dedicated to her memory.  5. During the construction of Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, Toontoown at Disneyland got a refresh including new faux hills that line the back of all the buildings of Toontown. Let's head to the theater to experience Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway.  Joining me for the ride is John B. deHaas.  Hang out after the ride audio to hear what we thought of this Disneyland version of the attraction.  These are binaural recordings so if you have headphone put them on now as we experience Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway at Disneyland. On this episode of the California Now Podcast, host Soterios Johnson learns what's new at California's top theme parks. To kick things off, Johnson chats with Disneyland Ambassador Nataly Guzman Garcia, a 13-year veteran of the resort who previously served as a tour guide. The two discuss Disney's 100th anniversary celebration, new rides like Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, a musical event featuring the Avengers, her love of Dole Whip, and much more.  Next, Johnson levels up at Super Nintendo World with Jon Corfino, vice president of creative at Universal Studios Hollywood. Corfino offers a detailed look at the themed land, including Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge, an interactive ride that features cutting-edge technology. Guests will feel like they're walking through a video game, Corfino notes, whether they're eating a mushroom-themed dish at Toadstool Cafe or simply spotting the countless Easter eggs scattered across the attraction. Finally, Johnson is joined by theme park expert and travel writer Katrina Hunt. Hunt discusses everything from new coasters to her favorite foods in theme parks across the Golden State. She also shares some cost-saving tips and simple ways to streamline your theme park experience whether you're exploring Sesame Place San Diego or Gilroy Gardens.

The refreshed land greeted guests as a soft opening on Saturday after a media event, and then officially opened on Sunday. The newly reopened section has some of the same features that guests really liked in the already opened section for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. There is a lot of grass, a new fountain for younger guests to play in, the dreaming tree, Goofy's How to Play yard which is fun for all ages, and more! - https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2023/03/mickeys-toontown-reopens-today-in-disneyland-park/ - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/photos-video-full-daytime-tour-of-reimagined-mickeys-toontown-in-disneyland-park/ The atmosphere is great, but what about the new FOOD in Toontown? The Disney Food Blog ordered and tried everything in the new land and had some mixed results. For drinks, they liked the Picnic Time Watermelon Lemonade, with the Granny Goof's Garden Sweet Tea was their least favorite. For actual food, their favorite was the Spring Garden Wrap, with their least favorite being Daisy's Dressed-Up Dog. Overall, a good offering of food for younger guests. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/03/19/review-mickey-pizza-and-mini-donuts-disneys-newest-dining-spot-has-our-attention/ A new popcorn bucket has arrived at the El CapiTOON theater in Toontown. For $23, guests can pick this up at a Toontown popcorn cart. It is red and off-white with Hot! Fresh? Popcorn Yummy! written on the side. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/new-yummy-el-capitoon-theater-popcorn-bucket-arrives-in-reimagined-mickeys-toontown-at-disneyland/ An unexpected character is meeting and greeting guests in the newly reopened Toontown - Pete! Pete has been around in Disney animated cartoons since before Steamboat Willie, where he starred alongside Mickey Mouse himself as the captain of the steamboat that Mickey was working on. This is the first time Pete has been a meet and greet character in Toontown. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/photos-video-pete-appears-for-first-character-meet-and-greet-in-reimagined-mickeys-toontown/ One of our favorite attractions has returned from refurbishment! The Indiana Jones Adventure reopened last week with some much needed repairs and a couple of new surprises! First, the snake is back in operation, the projections used throughout are more vivid and sharp, and the boulder at the end is working again! In addition to this, there are a couple of updated scenes and effects before and where the old rat room scene was before the dart room near the end. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/breaking-imagineers-add-new-scenes-to-indiana-jones-adventure-at-disneyland/ - https://www.ocregister.com/2023/03/16/disneyland-cleans-every-skull-mummy-and-snake-in-indiana-jones-adventure-refurbishment/ Mickey's Philharmagic has reopened in Disney California Adventure with some updates from its recent refurbishment. New upholstery was installed on the seats in the auditorium, and the carpet was replaced. There is also a new air conditioning system in the per-show room. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/mickeys-philharmagic-reopens-with-new-seating-hvac-at-disney-california-adventure/ San Fransokyo is just around the corner as the bridge leading to the area has reopened ahead of its transformation into the San Fransokyo bridge being complete. The existing structure has been painted "international orange" just like the Golden Gate Bridge in real life. The only thing remaining to be added is the towers and cabling to turn it into more of the suspension bridge look and feel from Big Hero 6. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/pacific-wharf-bridge-reopens-as-san-fransokyo-gate-transformation-continues-at-disney-california-adventure/ We had been worried that Star Wars Nite would not happen this year, which as we reported previously, is happening this year. Well, Disney did one better and is declaring May Star Wars month! The month kicks off with the return of Hyperspace Mountain, and Disneyland After Dark nights. Food and merchandise offerings will also be on hand for the celebration. - https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/disneyland-resort-to-celebrate-star-wars-month-this-may/ Weeklyteers who love a good day at the spa will be happy to hear that the Tenaya Stone Spa has expanded its offerings. News: Bob Iger talked about the company and the parks during a question and answer session at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. He emphasized that reducing crowds in the parks was important to improving the guest experience. It sounds like part of the process to help with that would be to add new capacity and attractions to serve more guests. – https://www.micechat.com/350274-disneyland-update-the-one-two-punch/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/ceo-bob-iger-talks-disney-parks-guest-experience-rethinking-pricing-strategies-and-opportunities-to-add-more-attractions/ Spring Break season has descended upon the resort. This year, it has been very interesting to see the crowds because of the on again, off again weather changes. On the nice weather days, the parks feel like they are back to the pre-pandemic levels, then just a day later with rain, the parks seem deserted. Waits on the rainy days were mostly under 30 minutes – https://www.micechat.com/350274-disneyland-update-the-one-two-punch/ Nightly fireworks have returned to the resort for the higher crowds and spring break. Usually, the fireworks are only part of the show from Friday through Sunday. Now, they are performed every night, which is a wonderful way to see Wondrous Journeys. – https://www.micechat.com/350274-disneyland-update-the-one-two-punch/ Walt Disney Imagineering were at it again showing off some of the new technology that they have been working on at a Disney Parks presentation at South by Southwest. Some of the eye-catching things included a “life size” Tinker Bell. In addition, they demoed a small dynamic robot that could bring Judy Hopps to life, along with showing off the Hulk character that was in Avengers Campus in September. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/new-look-at-life-size-tinker-bell-for-disney-parks-meet-and-greet-may-still-debut/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/video-disney-parks-shares-closer-look-at-life-size-tiny-tinker-bell-technology/ The rest of Toontown opens this weekend, but another smaller part of the land has opened. EngineEar Souvenirs has opened as the attached gift shop to Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. The new shop is very themed to trains, including a train that travels around the store above guest's heads. The shop carries a lot of Toontown and Runaway Railway attraction merchandise. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/03/10/disney-opened-a-new-store-today-come-check-it-out/ and https://www.micechat.com/349905-disneyland-toontown-merchandise-engineear-souvenirs/ St. Patrick's Day is this Friday and of course, Disneyland has some treats to help celebrate! Guests can pick up some shamrock-shaped rice crispy treats, green stuff at Red Rose Tavern, a cupcake and donut at Craftsman Grill at the Grand Californian Hotel, and a cocktail at the Hearthstone Lounge though March 19th. Downtown Disney also has an assortment of options for the holiday. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/full-list-of-st-patricks-day-2023-food-beverages-coming-to-disneyland-resort/ and https://www.micechat.com/350274-disneyland-update-the-one-two-punch/ Sunday, April 9th is Easter and that can mean only one thing: Handmade Chocolate Fudge Easter Eggs are back! Every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday until Easter, guests can pick up an egg for $12.99 at the Candy Palace. If you don't want that much sugar, you can just watch Cast Members make them in the window of Candy Palace. No word on the flavors for this year just yet. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2023/03/10/disneys-famous-chocolate-easter-eggs-are-back/ and https://www.micechat.com/350274-disneyland-update-the-one-two-punch/ Minnie has once again returned to welcome guests to Disneyland! The Mickey floral has been replaced by the Minnie floral for International Women's Day, which was on March 8th. We expect Minnie to stay in place for at least a few weeks. – https://www.micechat.com/350274-disneyland-update-the-one-two-punch/ We talk about synergy between the Disney brands that used to happen a lot in the parks, and there is some that has come back recently. Now through April 30th at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, a special Hulu-inspired Coca-Cola Freestyle flavor will be available. The new flavor is called Hulu Fanta Suprise and helps to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the streaming service.  – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/limited-time-hulu-inspired-coca-cola-freestyle-flavor-coming-to-disneyland-resort-and-walt-disney-world/ We talked about Adventureland Day last week, but our past guest Freddy Martin, better known as “Skipper Freddy” has posted a wonderful article on this year's event and what it all entails. To read all about it, check out the link in our show notes. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2023/03/khaki-crowds-descend-on-disneyland-for-adventureland-day-2023/ Discussion Topic: Don Morin – Founder and Host of PNW Mouse Meet Since 2009 Don and his team have been creating a magical experience for thousands of Guests. “Passion, Disney Fandom and giving them more than they expect are key ingredients to our success!” The PNW Mouse Meet is an unofficial Disney Fan Event that was created by Disney Fans FOR Disney Fans.
