News: A popular attraction in Disney California Adventure is moving towards extinction. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sully to the Rescue! has had a permit filed with the city of Anaheim for demolition. In addition to the attraction, the Hollywood Lounge beverage stand is also included in the demolition permit. The timeline to start demolition is not until at least late 2027. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2026/04/19/confirmed-this-disney-ride-will-permanently-close-in-2027/ We are just about a week away from the timeline expanding at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. On April 29th, Batuu will welcome original trilogy characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solor, and Leia Organa. This has been a long time request from guests who want to interact with characters from across the trilogy in the Star Wars themed land. There is some criticism that the characters are not close enough to their appearance in the films, but we will have to wait and see. In addition, the area will have the classic music of John Williams playing from the movie score. - https://www.micechat.com/434704-disneyland-update-star-wars-land-glow-up-app-shake-up-toy-story-5-build-up/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/photos-dok-ondar-changes-april-2026/ In the latest update to the Disneyland app, there have been some good quality of life improvements. Under My Visit, the Tip Board has been renamed to Wait Times & Showtimes, and My Day has been renamed My Plans. These updated names better reflect what can be found in each section. MyDisney Wallet has been added to the account settings where you can add your credit or debit card for payments. There still is no option to add a gift card. - https://www.micechat.com/434704-disneyland-update-star-wars-land-glow-up-app-shake-up-toy-story-5-build-up/ With the Disneyland 70th celebration coming to a close this summer, there are some good discounts to be had. Many 70th anniversary items are marked down up to 50%, including some Loungefly bags. In addition, there are some new Duffy and Friends items that have arrived at the resort from Aulani. Pins, a button up shirt, and more are available. - https://www.micechat.com/434704-disneyland-update-star-wars-land-glow-up-app-shake-up-toy-story-5-build-up/ A classic attraction is retuning to the Disneyland Resort. Join us for episode 484 of the Theme Park Trader Podcast! Disney's Hollywood Studios is having a massive identity crisis. Is it a tribute to the Golden Age of Cinema, or just a parking lot for Star Wars and Toy Story? Disney's Hollywood Studios is in the middle of a massive identity crisis. Is it a park about the magic of movies, or has it just become a storage locker for big franchises? On this episode of the Theme Park Trailer Podcast, Ryan and Donna are making the "Keep It or Kill It" calls for 2026. With Monstropolis construction moving fast and the Muppets taking over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, the duo spars over what needs to stay and what needs to be ripped out to save the park. In this episode: The Identity Battle: Is Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway a worthy icon, or are we still grieving The Great Movie Ride? Galaxy's Edge Wars: Should Disney finally kill the strict Sequel Trilogy timeline and let Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker walk around Batuu? Star Tours vs. Galaxy's Edge: Does the "Greatest Hits" version of Star Wars belong in a different land, or is it the best ride in the park? The Sunset Boulevard Debate: Does Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage still have that Broadway magic, or is it time for an Encanto or Wish takeover? Toy Story Land Problems: We love the "backyard" scale, but is it time to "Kill" the immersion to add much-needed shade and "human-sized" bathrooms? BaseLine TapHouse: Can the park's best "chill spot" survive the expansion of Grand Avenue? STAY TUNED: This is just the beginning. We're debating so much that we're splitting this into a Part Two, where we dive into the Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones, and the future of Animation Courtyard! What would YOU "Kill" at Hollywood Studios? Let us know in the comments!

A last-minute flight deal turns into a full-on Disneyland stress test: two tiny kids, huge crowds, a rainy day at Disney California Adventure, and one missing “best friend” pillow that nearly breaks everyone's heart. Jarrett is back to share how his family tackled their first Disneyland trip after recently doing Disney World and a Disney cruise and what actually changes when you swap Orlando's giant bubble for Anaheim's compact, walkable resort. We talk through the real planning decisions parents care about, like whether park hopping is worth it with a five-year-old and a two-year-old, how rope drop can happen by accident, and why Lightning Lane can feel like a lifesaver and a headache at the same time. Jarrett breaks down what worked, what didn't, and what surprised them most, from navigating stroller pinch points and record-level crowds to chasing Star Wars thrills in Galaxy's Edge. Rise of the Resistance downtime, rider swap limitations, and height requirement surprises all make the trip feel messy, but the wins are big. There's also plenty of Disneyland and DCA detail for Disney trip planning nerds: ride highlights like Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, Smugglers Run, Web Slingers, and kid-friendly coasters, plus food notes on better Disneyland churros, the breakfast Ronto Wrap, and a quirky popcorn bucket refill rule difference. Most importantly, we dig into the parenting side: toddlers melt down, do weird toddler things, and still walk away with memories that pop up months later. If you're planning Disneyland with young kids or comparing Disneyland vs Disney World, this one is for you.If you want to hear more about Jarrett's trip, go check out his blog post at https://jswordsmith.com/taking-toddlers-to-disneyland-the-real-story/.If you enjoyed the conversation, subscribe, share the episode with a Disney-loving friend, and leave a rating and review so more listeners can find us. Send a textWhat if the smartest way to fix a ride isn't to rebuild it, but to tune what fans already love? We set ourselves a constraint-heavy challenge—no bulldozers, no new IP, just targeted upgrades that sharpen story, comfort, and interactivity—and the ideas started to fly.We kick off with a crisp Summer Jam from Shades of Green, then dive into headliner debates. Tiana's Bayou Adventure gets a character remix as Louis leads a gloriously off-beat band hunt that resolves into a splashdown crescendo. Radiator Springs Racers earns a kinetic upgrade with dirt-track drifting through high-speed corners. Roger Rabbit gets gamified with a “spinometer” and Benny's delightfully passive-aggressive driving tips. Over in Epcot, we modernize Mission: SPACE into a SpaceX-flavored mission console where your timing matters, alarms blare, and teamwork lands you safely—no more dummy buttons.Comfort and clarity drive big wins. Jungle Cruise flips to forward-facing seating and stronger audio so every punchline lands. Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom deserves Disneyland's silky track and roomier vehicles. Indiana Jones trades dated projections for crisp animatronics, cinematic lighting, and denser sets. Ratatouille's queue transforms from hallway to Parisian street theater, with sizzling kitchen aromas and scale gags that sell the shrink. Spaceship Earth gets audible narration and playful “thank the Phoenicians” tags to carry smiles between eras.We future-proof the playful, too. Autopia goes fully electric through a living Tomorrowland city, guided by AI cars that coach your driving and score smoothness. Buzz Lightyear's blasters finally aim true and reward accuracy, not spam. Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway leans meta with flickering “set” glitches, prop gaffes, and a Chuuby short that deepens the payoff. Expedition Everest multiplies the mayhem with curious baby yetis and a brief “off the rails” jolt that turns first rides into legend. These are small, surgical changes with oversized impact: better queues, cleaner audio, sharper thrills, and more reasons to ride again. If you love Disney parks and believe classic attractions can evolve without losing their soul, you'll have opinions. We want them. Subscribe, share with a fellow park nerd, and tell us the one small change you'd make first.

Send us a textWhat if Space Mountain became Santa's fastest delivery route and the Yeti threw on a red suit for the holidays? We grab our Stroopwaffle bourbon coffee and go full Imagineer, sketching Christmas overlays that turn familiar Disney attractions into fresh, festive adventures without losing what fans love most.We start with the big swing: Space Mountain as a sleigh run, sleigh-styled vehicles, rooftop and chimney projections, and upbeat holiday tracks synced to the lift and drops. Pirates gets a winking twist, recasting scenes as family-holiday archetypes—cookie-bearing aunts, the legendary tipsy uncle, a peekaboo “Christmas thief”—anchored by a cheeky “Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Nog.” Indiana Jones evolves into Eye of the Forbidden Nutcracker, with March of the Toy Soldiers, chestnuts roasting cameos, flurries in the dart scene, and a Santa-faced boulder barreling to Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.We keep rolling with overlays that feel big but install smart. Autopia turns into a North Pole light drive—snow tires, frosty vistas, and synchronized LEDs that make nighttime laps magical. Country Bear Jamboree needs only the right centerpiece: Big Al crooning Blue Christmas and a snow-kissed finale. Expedition Everest shifts to Expedition North Pole, a serene Winter Wonderland climb that snaps into Sleigh Ride chaos the moment the track ends, starring Disco Santa Yeti. Toy Story Mania goes Krampus Mania with coal shots, rooftop clears, and chipmunk hijinks scored to novelty classics. And for projection perfection, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway becomes a frantic Christmas Eve: traffic, last-minute shopping, Daisy's party dance, a scramble for Pluto's gift, and a peaceful ride home.If you're into holiday overlays, theme-park music cues, or just want a delicious bourbon coffee recipe, you'll have plenty to steal and debate. Hit follow, share with a Disney-loving friend, and tell us: which attraction needs a Christmas makeover next?

Send us a textWhat if your favorite Disney rides got a full holiday glow-up? We poured a Stroopwaffle bourbon coffee and went all-in on seasonal overlays, sketching out scene-by-scene makeovers that keep each attraction's DNA intact while layering in music, projections, scents, and plenty of festive chaos.First up, Space Mountain gets a “Santa's Galactic Delivery” sprint with sleigh-styled cars, poppy Christmas tracks timed to the lift, and rooftop chimney fly-bys racing past in the dark. Pirates of the Caribbean becomes a family holiday fever dream—relatives re-cast as pirates, cats in Santa hats, and a cheeky “Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Nog” soundtrack. Indiana Jones Adventure morphs into Eye of the Forbidden Nutcracker with toy soldier set pieces, Chip and Dale roasting chestnuts, a Santa-faced boulder, and snow effects that turn the dart room into a blizzard. We keep the momentum going with Autopia as a North Pole light drive—minimal changes, maximum magic—ideal for night rides under synchronized holiday lights. Expedition Everest reimagined as Expedition North Pole sets up a cozy Winter Wonderland climb that snaps into Sleigh Ride-speed mayhem with a Disco Santa Yeti. Toy Story Mania goes full Krampus Mania with playful, song-timed targets that make every pull hilariously mischievous. And because projections make quick work of seasonal swaps, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway turns into a charming Christmas Eve dash: shopping traffic, Daisy's dance party, a last-minute Pluto gift run, and a calm cruise home with a Santa-bearded Chuby. If you love Disney parks, Jollywood Nights, and smart seasonal overlays that deliver fresh thrills without heavy downtime, this one's for you. A big fan of the Disney Parks and Star Wars, Drama Desk Award-nominee Andrew Samonsky (Lempika, South Pacific, Come From Away, Bridges of Madison County) joins David to share his favorites stories and memories of going to Disney. Andrew is from California, so went to Disneyland as a kid, including a fun early birthday trip where he stayed at the Disneyland Hotel but wasn't able to sleep because he was too excited. Listen as he shares what made Disneyland magical for him as a kid, and what he finds charming as a "young at heart" when he returns to the Magic Kingdom today. Andrew and David discuss the quintessential Disneyland, and how the Anaheim park was their "true Disney." Andrew's love for the Disney Parks is contagious, especially his love of seeing Mickey Mouse in the Parks (and a fun story of seeing the Princesses), going on "Rise of the Resistance" (and his deep wish to meet Darth Vader), eating churros, and visiting "Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway." Andrew explains how he and Kate Reinders (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Wicked, Gypsy, Something Rotten) ended up getting married at Walt Disney World, and how their trips to the Parks have shifted since having their wonderful kid, Luke. Not a stranger to Disney onstage, Andrew starred in the National Tour of "On The Record," a Broadway-style musical revue of the Disney musical catalogue (prompting this episode's game "On the Samonsky Record"), as well as the US premiere of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" starring as Phoebus.
