Les crises qui secouent Haïti sont encore plus éprouvantes pour les personnes handicapées : celles qui vivent dans les camps de fortune à cause des violences des gangs sont encore plus démunies que les autres - sans le soutien dont elles auraient besoin pour espérer vivre normalement. Le correspondant de RFI à Port-au-Prince Peterson Luxama s'est rendu dans les camps de déplacés de la capitale, qu'il qualifie de « tombes vivantes pour les plus vulnérables ».Osiane habitait la banlieue de Carrefour-Feuilles, cette mère de trois enfants est paralysée depuis 2023 : « Quand il pleut, je passe toute la nuit assise. Je n'ai pas de matelas, je n'ai rien, même pas une bâche. Je n'avais jamais vécu dans de telles conditions auparavant. » Pascal est unijambiste. Il a été atteint d'un projectile alors qu'il essayait d'échapper à la violence des bandits armés dans sa zone : « Je suis obligé de souffrir, j'attends ma mort, car je ne vois personne pour m'aider, à part Jésus-Christ. »L'État haïtien semble totalement absent. Soinette Désir, ancienne secrétaire d'État à l'intégration des personnes handicapées, explique que « les camps où se trouvent les personnes à mobilité réduite n'étaient pas conçus pour cela, et ne sont pas accessibles aux personnes handicapées. La manière dont ces personnes évoluent dans ces camps est franchement inimaginable. » Garry Conille, de retour du Kenya et d'Arabie SaouditeDe retour de son voyage au Kenya et aux Émirats Arabes Unis, le Premier ministre haïtien Garry Conille s'est félicité de « la solidarité extraordinaire » du président Ruto – le Kenya doit envoyer 600 hommes en plus des 400 déjà en Haïti pour faire face aux gangs. Entonces se me ocurrió una propuesta para hacerle: grabar varios encuentros en lugar de uno solo, repasando la historia de Almafuerte. El Tano aceptó. Esta es la primera de una serie de charlas, entonces. Sin embargo, como ya vimos, los planes no siempre resultan. El Tano habló muchísimo sobre su relación con Ricardo, sus últimas charlas, mensajes telefónicos y proyectos que nunca se concretarán debido a la muerte de su compañero. "Soundscapes reveal a lot about how people think and behave." The field recordist and musician talks about listening culture, repatriating African sounds and his new album with The Bug. Today's conversation moves away from the dance floor, focusing instead on the soft, ambient soundscapes of the Berlin-based musician Joseph Kamaru—AKA KMRU—whose work has been featured at festivals like CTM, Mutek, Atonal, Horst Music and Arts, Dekmantel, and Unsound; concert halls like The Barbican; and major galleries and site-specific installations around the world. Kamaru moved to Europe from Nairobi, where he first became interested in music production, and field recordings specifically. As a graduate student in the sonic arts, he learned that the majority of the discourse around sound art practices is specific to Western Eurocentric or occidental ways of thinking. He's since embarked on a mission to use field recording as a means of repatriating African identities that are often left out of institutional archives and grapple with the legacy of colonialism. In this RA Exchange, Kamaru reflects on the sociopolitical angle of his work, and his observation that listening, by its very nature, is never neutral. He also talks about how civilisation and technology has changed our collective listening habits; how sound sources beyond the human hearing range make their way into his work with the use of electromagnetic microphones; and his new album, Disconnect, made with the musician Kevin Richard Martin (AKA The Bug).
