James 4:11-12 “Who Do You Think You Are?”Preacher: Guest: Amos WilliamsSunday MorningDate: 31st May 2026Passage: James 4:11-12
Chrissie Swan doesn’t do many interviews. “I’m like Halley’s Comet,” she jokes of the astrological phenomenon that only appears every 75 years or so. Now, Chrissie is orbiting back to the other side of the microphone, a place she readily admits she doesn't tend to be. This week on Something To Talk About, Chrissie reflects on the headlines she refuses to let define her, and how she walks the careful line between sharing her life publicly and protecting her children privately. She also discusses leaving breakfast radio, giving up alcohol, co-parenting teenagers, and why uncovering generations of rebellious women and family tragedy on her upcoming episode of SBS’ Who Do You Think You Are? ultimately changed the way she sees herself. Chrissie’s episode of Who Do You Think You Are? airs on SBS on Tuesday, June 9, at 7.30pm. Watch the full episode with Chrissie Swan here. Dave is joined by Darryl on this week's Geektown Radio as they chat through the latest TV, film and gaming news, along with the shows and games they've been watching recently.Darryl kicks things off with a look at ‘High Potential' Season 2, the crime procedural starring Kaitlin Olson, which continues to deliver those fun “clever outsider helps the police” vibes. He also gives his thoughts on ‘The Punisher: One Last Kill', the Marvel one-shot style special bringing Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle further into the MCU, and discusses the finale of ‘Outlander', including its deliberately ambiguous ending. Plus, there's a look at ‘Good Omens 3', which wraps up the story of Crowley and Aziraphale in a 90-minute Prime Video finale. In the news section, we cover ‘The Lincoln Lawyer' ending with Season 5 on Netflix, Channel 4 cancelling ‘Pushers', and a huge batch of BBC comedy renewals including ‘Amandaland', ‘Black Ops', ‘Such Brave Girls', ‘Things You Should Have Done', ‘Mammoth' and ‘Two Doors Down'. In this Oh Snap “Guess What I Saw” episode of Just Press Record, Matt Zeigler brings workplace communication strategist and keynote speaker Nancy Burger back to react to a clip from psychologist Naomi Win on language, repair, and trust. Together, they unpack how the words we use — and the meanings we quietly attach to them — can deepen connection, create misunderstanding, and shape how we lead, work, and show up in our relationships. They dig into why repair matters more than compatibility, how curiosity can beat blame in hard conversations, and what it really means to co-create every relationship you're in. Nancy shares stories from her non-linear career, including Wall Street, her new keynote “Who Do You Think You Are?”, and how leaders can use vulnerability, accountability, and self-reflection to build durable trust. This special Oh Snap format pulls a prior guest back to watch a clip and see what it reveals about their work in the wild. Naomi Win's riff on language, apples, and misunderstanding becomes a launchpad for talking about fear, internal narratives, and “garden glove” change — the kind where everyone gets their hands a little dirty in service of growth. In this conversation, they get into:How language can connect us and still open the door to misunderstandingWhy the meanings we attach to words shape reactions, stories, and relationshipsCuriosity vs. responsibility as a frame for hard conversations at work and at homeHow assumptions and old narratives distort workplace conflict and team dynamicsWhy persuasion and the “perfect story” are not enough to build trust as a leaderHow leaders build trust by admitting mistakes and sharing vulnerability in publicNancy's journey from finance to fear-focused communication work, and how she reframed itInternal repair vs. external repair, and why we co-create every relationship we're part ofHow conflict, handled well, becomes “scar tissue” that strengthens trust over timeWhy sustainable change in organizations looks more like garden gloves than white glovesIf you like overhearing smart, slightly weird, very human conversations about leadership, relationships, and the stories underneath all of it, hit subscribe and come hang out with us.Chapters00:00 Naomi Win on language, apples and misunderstanding03:03 Introducing Nancy Burger and the Oh Snap Guess What I Saw format06:06 Nancy's new keynote on self-limiting thoughts07:16 Why repairs matter more than compatibility09:31 How words carry different meanings for different people11:43 Replacing responsibility with curiosity13:11 How assumptions and personal stories shape conflict15:42 Why persuasion alone does not build trust16:05 How leaders build trust through vulnerability17:50 Nancy on rewriting the story of her finance career19:27 How we participate in creating the things we say we do not want21:10 Curiosity in parenting, marriage, friendship and work23:37 The difference between internal repair and external repair24:23 Why every relationship is co-created26:04 Why trust is always a story with tension27:20 How conflict creates scar tissue and stronger relationships29:27 Why workplace relationships require learning the stories behind behavior30:16 Why Matt wanted Nancy to see the Naomi Win clip31:28 Garden glove services and sustainable change32:38 Where to find Nancy Burger
In Week 5 of Who Do You Think You Are?, we unpack the life-changing truth that because of Jesus, you're not an outsider trying to earn God's love—you've been adopted into His family. Your past doesn't define you. Your Heavenly Father does.
What if the thing you keep carrying… is the very thing God already canceled? In Week 4 of our series Who Do You Think You Are?, we dive into one of the most powerful identity statements in the book of Ephesians:“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.” — Ephesians 1:7So many people live weighed down by guilt, shame, and regret—constantly looking backward instead of walking forward. But the truth is, if you are in Christ, you are not defined by your past… you are defined by His grace. In this message, we unpack:- What redemption really means (and the price Jesus paid for you)- The difference between guilt, shame, and forgiveness- Why you don't have to keep punishing yourself for what God has already forgiven- How to actually live free, not just know you're forgivenBig Idea: In Christ, you are FORGIVEN—not partially, not conditionally, but completely. If you've ever struggled to move on from your past or wondered if God could really forgive you… this message is for you.

Who you think you are shapes how you live.It affects your decisions, your confidence, your relationships, and your calling. But too many people are living with a distorted identity—letting their past define them, culture label them, and failure, fear, insecurity, and comparison shape how they see themselves. In Week 3 of “Who Do You Think You Are?”, Pastor Jacob Dickerson walks through Ephesians 1 and unpacks one of the most important truths in the entire book:
"Who do you think you are?" - a question usually one usually asks of another, especially in a disagreement. But have you ever asked yourself the question? China Watson, author of "Who Do You Think You Are?", believes that by changing the way we see ourselves and our circumstances, we unlock barriers to new possibilities and growth, and learn to face life challenges with resilience and optimism. Come with us on this journey of self-discovery!

Who Do You Think You Are?That question can sound like criticism—or it can become a moment of clarity. In this episode, David explores why fit matters more than titles, platforms, or opportunities. Just because you can do something doesn't mean it's the place you're meant to flourish. We'll talk about identity, rejection, leadership, and how discovering the right environment can unlock who you really are.Because sometimes the door closing isn't the end. It's direction.
NOT SO FKN TYPICAL is a podcast that doesn't quite fit in neat little boxes. Hosted by Steph & Amy, sometimes it's pop culture, sometimes it's mental health, sometimes it's life, parenting, friendship, chaos, or just whatever we're currently obsessed with. Nothing polished. Nothing perfect. Just two humans talking it out and calling it what it is. FKN Typical. This week they're talking Brain Wins. Because being “not so fkn typical” isn't just struggling and spiralling and forgetting to drink water like a lizard (no comment). It's also: + being weirdly calm in a crisis + building instant rapport + making people feel safe + being deeply curious about humans tick + out of the box solutions + humour as a coping mechanism (hello gif of people flying car bonnets) We also talk about how hard it can be to say “I'm good at this” without your brain yelling WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? So you're doing it anyway. YOUR TURN: What's your superpower? Type it. Say it out loud. Claim it. “I'm actually really fkn good at this”.
Today on your favorite daily comedy show, we learned two very important things:Moon Valjean now owns a bowling alley. The Internet is not okay.Yes, it's official — Moon is part-owner of Pin-Up Bowl in The Loop, and somehow he manifested it by yelling “WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I AM!” for years. We break down how it happened, what changes are coming, why Pete Weber needs his own velvet lane, and how Rafe is absolutely going to live behind the pin machines like a raccoon with a wrench. But because this is The Rizzuto Show, we can't just celebrate something normal.Nope.We pivot into the Epstein files being searchable by name (which obviously led to everyone panic-Googling themselves), Pokémon Go having a PokéStop on Epstein Island (yes, really), and the horrifying realization that your smart home cameras are probably recording way more than you think. Nothing says “fun morning radio” like existential surveillance dread. In between all that, we debate whether Timothée Chalamet is too confident (spoiler: he's just French and talented), Nickelback potentially collabing with Don Broco, The Black Keys adjusting their tour expectations, and Don Henley refusing to listen to “Desperado” because even legends wake up at 3AM thinking, “I could've done that vocal better.”We also reveal our comfort TV shows (Seinfeld, The Office, Ancient Aliens, and apparently Game of Thrones for “relaxation”), revisit a VERY special episode of Mr. Belvedere that absolutely did not age gently, and nearly get FCC'd by an enthusiastic mashup of Wagon Wheel and Boyz-N-the-Hood.It's bowling. It's conspiracy spirals. It's corporate rock fan analysis. It's PJ Sparks turning 57.It's your favorite daily comedy show doing what it does best — turning local headlines, celebrity chaos, and accidental audio risks into 2+ hours of beautifully structured nonsense. If you came for polished professionalism… we have 73 bowling balls instead. And we'll see you at the Pete Weber lane.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

On Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty speaks with Kyra Faison Gardner—certified transformational life & retirement coach, author of Who Do You Think You Are?, and founder of Prospect & Refuge Life—about “threshold alchemy”: using life transitions (midlife shifts, retirement, loss, reinvention) to create purpose. Kyra unpacks practical rituals (silence at sunrise, gratitude journaling, mindful community) and a direct message: you don't need permission to change direction. This episode is built for listeners seeking midlife reinvention, post-career identity, spiritual grounding, and daily practices that stick. About the Guest: Kyra Faison Gardner is a transformational life & retirement coach and author of Who Do You Think You Are? After more than 20 years as a founder/CEO—and rebuilding after a devastating house fire—she now helps people in their second and third acts redesign life with intention through Prospect & Refuge Life. Key Takeaways: Threshold alchemy defined: transform uncertain life stages into meaningful new chapters by reframing identity beyond roles and titles. Identity ≠ job: you are not your career, marital status, or parental role; reinvention starts when you expand who you believe you are. Rituals over routines: morning silence, sunrise, brief meditation, and gratitude journaling stabilize mood and sharpen purpose. Body-markers for intention: simple anchors (remove shoes, anoint hands/feet, light a candle) signal your nervous system it's time to focus. Community matters: find cohorts or circles that see your current self and support who you're becoming. Permission slip: you already have permission to be happy, change your mind, and pursue long-delayed curiosities. Spiritual flexibility: you don't need the “right” label for the sacred; name it how it resonates and keep going. Micro-choices win: small, repeatable acts (feed the birds, a poem, one page of writing) accumulate into identity change. From trauma to truth: healing isn't linear; honest writing and coaching help you share without losing peace. Aging as expansion: retirement and midlife aren't endings—they're invitations to create, learn, and serve. When Michelle Ercanbrack volunteered for a Mormon pioneer trek, she thought she'd be helping teenagers learn history. What she discovered instead was a missing piece of her own family story that had been hiding in plain sight for decades.Michelle, a BYU family history program graduate and former Ancestry researcher who worked on television shows like "Who Do You Think You Are," joins me to share how sometimes the most meaningful genealogical discoveries happen not behind a computer screen, but when you physically stand where your ancestors once stood. Her emotional experience retracing her ancestor's journey through the Wyoming wilderness to Utah reveals why knowing the facts of a story and truly understanding its impact are two completely different things. Her ancestor, Mary Ann Malley, was a widowed single mother facing impossible choices and learning more about her life led Michelle to understand that even professional genealogists can overlook the most meaningful connections in their own family trees. Her story challenges every family historian to ask a simple but powerful question: What happens when you stop researching your ancestors' lives and start walking where they walked? This episode will leave you questioning whether you truly know your family's stories or if you're ready to discover what you've been missing.〰️

The authors and editors of a new edited volume, Gender Ideology and Pastoral Practice: A Handbook for Catholic Clergy, Counselors, and Ministerial Leaders, represent a tremendous knowledge and experience in theology, philosophy, history, and social politics, and apply it to help us sort how to think about and talk about the recent wave of transgenderism in society and especially among young people. Often clothed in terms of compassion and acceptance, transgender advocates encourage young people to make permanent surgical changes to their bodies, bodies that many will soon regret. So, how do we counsel them? Christianity is fundamentally committed to compassion and love (caritas, agape) and opposed to judgement (Mt. 7:1) yet also committed to truth. And true love does not mean letting young people make permanent mistakes that they do not fully understand—so it's a real pickle! We talk it over on Almost Good Catholics. This episode was recorded in the sede vacante moment between the death of Pope Francis and the election of Pope Leo XIV. Also, this episode is intended to be the first of two, with a second one following up in the near future with an interview with a transgender advocate in the coming weeks. Here is the book available from En Route Media, and of course from Amazon as well. Here is the Person and Identity website, an invaluable resource for those sorting through the issue. Theresa Farnan's website. Robert Fastiggi's website. Susan Selner-Wright's website. And here's the website of the International Catholic Jurists Forum that we discussed. Here are some earlier episodes of AGC with Robert Fastiggi, the second one also about the transgender questions (and the first about Mariology): Robert Fastiggi on Almost Good Catholics, episode 7: Mother of All Nations: Immaculate Conception, Virgin Birth, Assumption, and Coronation of Mary Robert Fastiggi and Deborah Savage on Almost Good Catholics, episode 100: Lived Experience and the Search for Truth: Revisiting Catholic Sexual Morality Here is are earlier AGC episodes about the related themes of same-sex attraction from two perspectives, including the discussion with Fr. FMEP Fellow Peter Beinart speaks with Yuli Novak, executive director of the Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem, about how and why B'Tselem has concluded that Israel is now and has been committing genocide in Gaza for nearly two years. Yuli describes Israeli leaders' statements of intent, Israeli military officers' orders and actions, and the catastrophic results on the Palestinian people in Gaza. Yuli and Peter discuss the urgency for international intervention to stop Israel's brutal actions in Gaza, how Israeli Jewish society justifies the genocide, and the dangers that Palestinians face without protection from the Israeli regime, including the danger that Israel may apply its genocidal policy to other areas under its control, including the West Bank. Read B'Tselem's new report, "Our Genocide," on their website: https://www.btselem.org/publications/202507_our_genocide From the report: “For nearly two years, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza, acting in a systematic, deliberate way to destroy Palestinian society there through mass killing, causing serious bodily and mental harm and creating catastrophic conditions that prevent its continued existence in Gaza. Israel is openly promoting ethnic cleansing and the destruction of life-sustaining infrastructure for individuals and the group, with 2 million people starved, displaced, bombed and left by the world to die. The genocide must be stopped.” Yuli Novak is the Executive Director of B'Tselem. From 2012-2017, she was Executive Director of Breaking the Silence. In 2022, she published (in Hebrew) the memoir Who Do You Think You Are?, which will be published in English in 2025. Peter Beinart is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Foundation for Middle East Peace. He is also a Professor of Journalism and Political Science at the City University of New York, a Contributing opinion writer at the New York Times, an Editor-at-Large at Jewish Currents, and an MSNBC Political Commentator. His newest book (published 2025) is Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza: A Reckoning. Original music by Jalal Yaquoub.

Claudia Karvan joined the show and had us all starstruck—especially Tim, who went full fanboy. She opened up about her wild Splendour in the Grass memories (yes, she was in the Nirvana mosh pit), being hoisted into the sky by a hot air balloon (kind of), and the deep family revelations she uncovered on Who Do You Think You Are?. From orphans to balloonists and suffragettes, her ancestors seriously delivered. Oh, and she absolutely crushed Quick Draw… even if she called us out for being demons.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
When Emily Nussbaum introduced Alan Cumming at the New Yorker Festival, she said, “Plenty of actors light up a room, but Alan Cumming is more of a disco ball—reflecting every possible angle of show business.” Cumming appears in mainstream dramas such as “The Good Wife,” and also more indie projects like his one-man version of “Macbeth”; his performances in musicals such as “Cabaret” are legendary. He also owns a nightclub; his memoir “Not My Father's Son” was a bestseller, and so on. And Cumming plays the host on the Emmy-winning reality show “The Traitors.” He combines “a dandy Scottish laird—sort of James Bond villain, sort of eccentric, old-fashioned nut who has this big castle.” Spoiler alert: “It's supposed to be my castle. It's not.” Nussbaum asks about his perspective on reality TV before he started on “Traitors.” “Zero, really,” Cumming confesses. “I was a bit judgy. … The thing I don't like about a lot of those shows is that they laud and therefore encourage bad behavior and lack of kindness.” Before “The Traitors,” Cumming's first brush with reality television was on “Who Do You Think You Are?,” a BBC genealogy program that confronted him with shocking secrets about his own family. “It made a good memoir, I suppose,” he jokes. “Just how awful that was. It was awful. But no, I don't regret it.”
