The Hidden Cost of Waiting: Why Wellness Practitioners Stay Stuck (and the Decision Matrix That Gets You Unstuck)Episode description (SEO):Let me guess — you're a wellness practitioner with a wealth of ideas and maybe even an online program idea living in your Notes app that you just can't seem to act on. You're not lazy. You're not unqualified. You're waiting. And waiting has a cost most practitioners never add up until they're three years down the road and nothing has changed. In this episode, Alison breaks down why not deciding is still a decision — and what it's actually costing you every single season you push it off. If you've been telling yourself "next quarter," "after the summer," "once things calm down," this one is for you. Hit play if you're ready to stop waiting and start building. In this episode:Why waiting isn't neutral — and the real price you're paying for every season you stay where you areWhy waiting doesn't always look like waiting — the disguises it wears so you don't have to call it what it isThe 4-Quadrant Decision Matrix that gets you out of your head and into a real choice — so the idea finally leaves the Notes appKey takeaways:Indecision is expensive. The cost just shows up later, quietly, and all at once."I'm not ready" is usually "I haven't decided" wearing a more respectable outfit. You don't need more certainty to move. You need a framework that makes the choice for you.Ready to actually build the thing?Tomorrow I'm hosting my free webinar, Replace Your In-Person Clinic Salary Online — where I'll show you exactly how skilled practitioners are building scalable online income beyond the treatment table. Pamela Deasy was in her early 40s, working full time and volunteering with the RNLI, when fatigue started dragging her back into bed in the middle of the day. Her bloods were clear. She was told it was perimenopause, then depression. Months passed before a kinesiologist, of all people, pointed at her pancreas — and within days she was in a Cork hospital being told she had a tumour. In this episode, Pamela sits down with Laura to walk through what happened next: the chemotherapy that made her legs turn to jelly, the five and a half weeks of daily radiotherapy that put her on her back in hospital, and the Whipple surgery that took out the head of her pancreas, part of her stomach, part of her intestine, her gallbladder and her spleen. Then the slower, quieter battle that came after — the seven and a half stone she lost, the survivor guilt nobody warned her about, the Survive and Thrive programme that helped her step back into the world, and the small camping toilet she now keeps in her car because that is the honest reality of life after Whipple surgery.Pamela also shares why she co-founded Pancreatic Cancer Ireland, what the signs of pancreatic cancer actually look like, and why "listen to your gut and keep going back" might be the most important sentence you hear this week.

Is trauma stored in the body? Can fascia release heal it? Is there one modality, one practitioner, one magic pill that's finally going to fix you?Short answer: no.I'm Jen Wilson, The Healing Rebel, and this episode is me wading into the conversation (and in some places, the argument) that's playing out across the wellness industry right now. There's a particular kind of marketing happening where practitioners are promising trauma release through fascia work, and there's a particular kind of seeking happening where people are looking for the one thing that'll resolve everything.I want to talk honestly about what's actually going on in your body when you experience trauma, what fascia is and isn't, what touch and movement and breath actually do, and why the "pill for every ill" mentality keeps us stuck. What I cover:Why The Body Keeps the Score has been overtaken by newer thinking (the brain keeps the score, the body is the scorecard)Why two people can go through the same experience and only one comes out traumatisedHow trauma creates patterns of movement, holding, and bracing in your bodyA real client example of how a car collision shaped how she held herself in the driver's seatMy own example of holding patterns after my last Crohn's flare and the 2-year process of unwinding themWhether fascia actually "holds" trauma in any meaningful wayWhy emotional release during bodywork is real but isn't quite what people think it isThe role of touch, movement, and diaphragmatic breath in your body's natural processingWhy your lymphatic system needs breath and movement to do its jobHow tears, sweat, and exhaling breath are part of your body's detoxification processWhy we've been culturally trained out of expressing emotion, and how to retrain ourselvesThe "pill for every ill" mentality and why it keeps us stuckYou are not broken. You don't need to be fixed.A few questions I answer:Is trauma actually stored in the body? Can fascia release heal trauma? Is fascia an organ? Why do I cry during massage or fascia work? the difference between trauma and holding patterns? Why is touch so important for healing? Why does diaphragmatic breath matter for the lymphatic system? This is for anyone who's been on the wellness path long enough to feel exhausted by the constant search for the next thing. In this emotionally insightful episode of Nerdy Bitz, The Reverend Tracy returns with a brand-new TL;DL titled “Gilmore Girls, Parentification, And The Romanticization Of Enmeshment.” Using the beloved television series Gilmore Girls as the centerpiece of the discussion, The Reverend Tracy takes a deeper psychological look at the show's famous “best friend mother” dynamic and why so many audiences mistake emotional enmeshment for healthy parenting. While Gilmore Girls is often celebrated for its fast dialogue, quirky charm, and close-knit relationships, this episode explores the darker emotional implications underneath Lorelai and Rory Gilmore's relationship dynamic. The Reverend Tracy examines how the show unintentionally normalizes parentification — a psychological pattern where children take on emotional responsibilities, burdens, or relational roles that are developmentally inappropriate for them.Throughout the episode, she discusses how children placed into emotionally adult roles often become caretakers, mediators, therapists, or emotional support systems for their parents long before they are emotionally equipped to carry those responsibilities. What may appear “cute,” “mature,” or “best-friend-like” on the surface can actually create long-term difficulties involving boundaries, emotional regulation, identity formation, conflict management, and adult relationships later in life. The episode breaks down:What parentification actually isThe difference between closeness and emotional enmeshmentWhy “best friend parenting” can blur emotional boundariesHow children in enmeshed households often suppress their own emotional needsThe psychological consequences of children becoming emotional caretakersHow media romanticizes unhealthy family dynamicsWhy emotionally immature parenting is often misunderstood as relatabilityThe long-term effects parentification can have on anxiety, guilt, people-pleasing, and adult relationshipsThe Reverend Tracy also explores why audiences are frequently drawn to these relationship dynamics in television and film, especially when unhealthy emotional dependency is framed as loyalty, closeness, or unconditional love. Using examples from Gilmore Girls, she highlights how unresolved trauma and emotional loneliness can shape parenting styles in ways that feel normal to viewers who experienced similar family structures growing up.Rather than attacking the series itself, the discussion uses Gilmore Girls as a lens to better understand the importance of healthy boundaries, emotional maturity, and allowing children to fully experience childhood without carrying adult emotional burdens.Support Friends Talking Nerdy on Patreon. As always, we wish to thank Christopher Lazarek for his wonderful theme song. It's about moving through them.”In this episode, Jess Zucal and I explore what it really means to build resilience in the face of challenge, uncertainty, and emotional discomfort.Jess shares her perspective on the importance of feeling emotions fully, rather than bypassing them, and how true resilience is built by leaning into the hard moments rather than avoiding them. This conversation explores:The role of self-awareness in building resilienceThe power of the pause in breaking reactive patternsLetting go of control and surrendering to what isThe importance of community in navigating difficult seasonsExpanding our capacity to be uncomfortableThis episode is a reminder that resilience is not about perfection or pushing through. It is about reflecting, adapting, and trusting that if you have weathered hard moments before, you can move through them again.

What happens when the biggest threat to your publishing business is also buried inside the data you're not looking at? Jorge Barbosa of wecantrack, joins Lee-Ann to talk about what is actually happening to publishers right now, why most of them are flying blind without realising it, and what the ones who are thriving are doing differently. The conversation covers HCU updates, AI overviews cannibalising traffic, the overlooked relationship between affiliate managers and publishers, and why EPC broken down by traffic source might be the most important number in your business that you're not tracking.Talking Points Include:The visibility gap most publishers don't know they have and why logging into your affiliate network reports is not the same as understanding your businessHow one publisher shifted from 80 percent organic to 80 percent paid traffic over four years and grew overall revenue in the processWhy AI overviews are changing the user journey in ways that affect affiliate managers just as much as publishers and what you should be doing about it depending on who your audience actually isThe case for affiliate managers paying for their top publishers' tracking tools and the commercial intelligence that comes back in returnListen to Find Out More About:Why EPC by traffic source and landing page is the one metric Jorge always leads with in demos, and what it reveals that network reports never willHow big publishers use automated link testing and monetisation scripts to protect revenue at scale without adding headcountThe LLM tracking feature wecantrack is building that measures how often an AI model is crawling your content, not just mentioning itWhy affiliate marketing as a side hustle is the myth that drives Jorge mad, and what the industry actually looks like when you pull back the lensWhat the successful publisher looks like in 2027, in one sentenceWhy publishers building a brand rather than just a website is the single most important strategic shift happening in the industry right nowKey Segments of This Podcast and Where You Can Tune In to Go Direct:[02:00] The pain points publishers are dealing with right now: HCU losses, AI overview traffic cannibalisation, and why most are still guessing about where their revenue comes from[06:50] A live demo reality check: the publisher who thought YouTube was irrelevant until the data showed it was their best-converting channel[22:08] Pivot or die: real examples of publishers who lost eighty percent of organic revenue and rebuilt stronger by acting on what the data told them[28:00] The rapid fire round: the one metric everyone should track, the best and worst things to happen to publishers in two years, and what 2027 looks like for the publishers who make itCall to ActionA big thank you to Jorge for being so generous with what he's seen on the ground. Most investors spend their energy asking the wrong question. It's not which fund is best -- it's which combination of funds gets you to your actual goal at a cost and complexity level you'll actually maintain. Joe and OG break down the full index investing playbook: where to start, when to add complexity, what Wall Street calls indexing that really isn't, and the one number that should change how you think about your entire portfolio. What You'll Walk Away WithWhy the real argument for index investing isn't that nobody beats the market -- it's that you can't predict who will do it nextThe crockpot principle of index investing -- and why the self-cleaning oven analogy might be even betterWhy the S&P 500 and the total stock market index are closer than most people think -- and which one Joe is increasingly favoring for the long runThe $100,000 turning point: what changes about your investment strategy when the portfolio gets big enough to get scientificThe first two additions most Stackers should consider beyond their core index -- and why OG would actually add more than twoWhy mixing index funds from different companies can quietly undermine your diversification without you ever knowing itHow to replace the word "index" with "list" to instantly identify whether a product is actually doing what you think it isThe buffered ETFs, factor ETFs, and active ETFs that call themselves indexes -- and why most Stackers should walk right past themWhy you're not racing against the index -- you're on a road trip -- and what that shift in framing changes about every investing decisionThe season one recap from OG and Anna's financial planning basics series -- plus the free workbook that ties all seven episodes togetherWhy This Matters NowIn your 40s, the portfolio is finally big enough to matter -- and that's exactly when the temptation to complicate things gets strongest. New products, new strategies, and new buzzwords show up constantly, each promising a smarter approach. The investors who come out ahead aren't the ones who found the best fund. They're the ones who built something simple enough to maintain, scientific enough to optimize, and sturdy enough to hold through the moments when everything feels like it's falling apart. From the BasementJoe and OG dig into the full index investing playbook -- from the first fund a beginner should buy to the asset class combinations that actually improve long-term outcomes once the portfolio gets big enough to warrant it. OG and Anna close out their seven-week financial planning basics series with a full recap and the surprise release of a free downloadable workbook at stackingbenjamins.com/basicsguide. This is not a typical RAG episode.Christian Mather is not a recruiter. He has never filled a role, run a desk, or managed a team. He is a wealth planner. And since niching into recruitment founders about two and a half years ago, he has become one of the most in-demand advisors in the industry.Since January alone, he has had over 100 enquiries and spoken to 60 founders about the same thing: how to turn business success into personal financial freedom. Not through selling the business. Not through scaling to 50 heads. Through understanding one number. He calls it your freedom number. The amount you need in assets to cover your lifestyle for the rest of your life. And most founders massively overestimate what that number is.His simple formula gives you your starting point. In this episode Christian walked through real examples of his clients goals and challenges. A founder who thought he needed £5 million but actually needed £1.2 million. A 29-year-old woman billing half a million on her own, working 20 hours a week, about to hire staff she didn't need. A business doing 1.6 million net fee income with 16 staff but only £150K EBITDA because the founders were doing 80% of the work.Only 0.3% of recruitment agencies ever successfully sell. That number comes from the REC, and Christian has built his entire practice around the other 99.7%. His argument is simple: your business should fund your wealth, not be your wealth. We cover:Why 0.3% of recruitment agencies sell and what that means for your retirement planHow to calculate your freedom number using the monthly spend x 300 ruleThe real cost of treating your business as your pensionWhy founders between 40 and 45 are the ones making the callThe financial mistakes costing recruitment founders the most moneyHow co-founders can align on what they actually want from the businessWhy property is not the passive investment most founders think it isThe post-exit identity crisis that nobody prepares forChristian and I also get into our own stories and share our personal strategies for wealth creation. If you have ever wondered what your number actually is, or whether you are closer to freedom than you think, this episode has the blueprint.-----------------------------------------------------Episode Sponsor: Remote RecruitmentHiring shouldn't be slow, stressful, or expensive. If you're a personal trainer or health and wellness coach wondering whether your content is good enough — or whether AI can actually help you get clients without sounding robotic — this episode is your answer. In this episode, I'm breaking down why most fitness coaches aren't getting clients from Instagram (hint: it has nothing to do with your follower count or production value), and revealing the exact 3-step AI-powered system my clients use to generate daily DMs and sales — even on posts with 200 views. What You'll Discover:Why posting more value content is NOT why you're not getting clients — and what actually isThe "cat food to dog owners" mistake that kills conversion on Instagram every dayThe 3 things the most successful coaches do with AI that level-1 users completely missHow to identify the conversion intention of your content BEFORE you write a single wordThe Interrupt → Inspire → Invite → Implement framework and how to use it as a systematic content ecosystemWhy 200-view posts can generate daily client inquiries when the content is structured correctlyHow to use AI to research buyer psychology — and why this changes everythingThe difference between solution-aware content and problem-aware contentHow to build a content ecosystem that always has something for someone to buy — without pressure or launch anxietyKey Takeaways:→ The problem isn't your content quality. It's that you're missing conversion content and a system.→ AI is only as good as the context you give it. Generic prompts = generic robotic output.→ Not all content has the same job. Know your conversion intention before you create.→ Your audience is 97% not ready to buy yet. The ecosystem is what converts them over time.→ You don't need to go viral. Send a textWhat happens when the very tools meant to heal you—breathwork, yoga, mindfulness—become ways to silence your inner wisdom? In this deeply vulnerable conversation, I sit down with Devin Scott, founder of Find Your Meaning, a body-based coach, who shares his recent experience of ignoring his body's signals in a relationship—and what he has learned about "healing" from that experience. We recorded this episode in early December, just days after Devin went through a painful breakup. Instead of presenting a polished, "healed" version of himself, he brought his raw, real experience into our conversation—and what emerged is one of the most honest explorations of body wisdom, emotional intelligence, and the shadow side of "wellness" that I've ever had. This conversation will shift how you think about healing, emotions, and what it means to truly listen to yourself. What You'll Learn in This Episode:Why traditional healing systems often feel hollow—and how they can reinforce perfectionism and conformity instead of true transformationThe difference between resourcing and dissociating—how Devin used "healthy" practices like breathwork and yoga to silence his body's wisdom instead of listening to itWhy emotions aren't problems to solve—they're messages, evolutionary tools, and pathways to deeper wisdomHow body wisdom gets overridden—the cultural scripts that teach us to distrust our intuition and seek external validationThe philosophy of Lila—an ancient Indian concept that reframes life as "cosmic play" rather than a linear path to fix yourselfWhy you don't need to "win" at healing—and how the idea of becoming a "better version of yourself" can be self-punitiveWhen nervous system collapse is necessary—why sometimes you need to stop doing and just be with what isThe gaslighting embedded in systems—from workplaces to therapy, how we're taught that we are the problem, not the systemKey Themes:This episode explores the paradox of using healing modalities to avoid feeling, the courage it takes to trust your body when logic demands otherwise, and the radical idea that suffering might not be something to transcend—but something to experience fully as part of being human.Devin's honesty about his own recent heartbreak—and how he ignored his body's clear signals because he couldn't rationalize them—offers a powerful reminder that even those who teach this work are still learning it. We're all human. We all stumble. And vulnerability isn't weakness—it's where the real wisdom lives.About Devin Scott:Devin Scott is a body-based coach and facilitator who helps people reconnect with their inner wisdom and move through life with greater authenticity. When you witness suffering at scale, your capacity to care can feel like it's running on empty. In this episode, we're diving into the biological reality of compassion fatigue and the potent "antidote" found in moral elevation. We discuss why "looking for the helpers" isn't just a sweet sentiment—it's a vital nervous system intervention that activates the vagus nerve and restores our ability to hope. This conversation is an invitation to honor your personal capacity, embrace complexity, and find your own sustainable way to show up.In this episode, you'll learn:What compassion fatigue actually isThe "Compassion Budget"The science of Moral Elevation: How witnessing acts of goodness triggers the vagus nerve to slow your heart rate, reduce inflammation, and release oxytocin.Dialectical Thinking: The "both/and" logic that allows you to acknowledge horrifying truths without losing sight of community resilience.Matching Capacity to Advocacy: Why "offering the shovel" is sometimes exactly enough, and how to match your current resources to the causes you care about.3 Takeaways:Compassion fatigue is real—and so is your capacity limit. Not every cause can be your cause. Ask yourself: What do I have to give right now? And where do I want to give it? Be honest about your capacity and kind to yourself about your limitations. Sometimes offering the shovel is enough.Looking for the helpers activates moral elevation—a biological antidote to compassion fatigue. Practice dialectical thinking: both/and, not either/or. And the results? Inconsistent ball striking, weak compression, and frustration on the course.Mike and Shaun dive into:Why holding lag is ruining your swingThe truth about wrist angles and body positioningHow “posing impact” is hurting your real performanceWhy even elite players misunderstand what shaft lean actually isThe role of swing sequence and movement patterns in achieving natural compressionThis episode is for every player who's chased compression, tried to "hold the angle," or been told their hands need to be way forward at impact.
