It's another great doubleheader this week in Episode #682! It all begins with writer Matthew Rosenberg from We're Taking Everyone Down With Us, then everything concludes with the return of Garrett Gunn with Warcorns: Fistful of Rainbows! Matthew is the writer of many tremendous comics, including 4 Kids Walk into a Bank, We Can Never Go Home, Kingpin, Phoenix Resurrection, DC Vs. Vampires, and stories featuring the Joker. His newest mini-series, We're Taking Everyone Down With Us, is debuting from Image Comics on Wednesday, March 26. It's described this way: “The six-issue mini-series follows an orphaned girl named Analise and her dad's bodyguard robot.” We discuss how this book came to be, who the various characters are, and what we can expect from Matthew in the months ahead! Be sure to let your local comics shop know you want this comic as soon as you finish listening to this episode! Final Order Cutoff is Monday, March 3. Then everything wraps up with my engaging interview with Garrett Gunn, creator of the fascinating comic franchise Good Boy as well as Spero, Little Red Ronin, Cold Dead Hands, and the aforementioned Warcorns! Here's the description for Warcorns: “Where there's trouble in the universe, the Warcorns Division can show up and make it worse.” Garrett catches us up on his various creations and tells us how Warcorns came to be, who the characters are, and what else he might have coming our way soon! Don't miss it! Show your thanks to Major Spoilers for this episode by becoming a Major Spoilers Patreon member. It will help ensure Wayne's Comics Podcast continues far into the future!

Denk maar aan titels zoals 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank, We Can Never Go Home, en natuurlijk What's the Furthest Place from Here.

Comic books are deeply ingrained in Matthew Rosenberg’s life. From reading comics as a kid growing up in New York, Rosenberg went into the music industry. During that time he wrote his first comic with RZA and Ghostface Killah. He went on to write his creator owned Black Mask Studios title ‘We Can Never Go Home’. From there he created Black Mask Studios titles like ’12 Reasons To Die’ and ‘4 Kids Walk Into A Bank’. Rosenberg has written Rocket Raccoon, Kingpin, Punisher and a number of other books for Marvel. He also spearheaded the return of Uncanny X-Men in 2018. Currently, Rosenberg is behind Marvel’s Annihilation Scourge event. And his upcoming Hawkeye: Freefall series with artist Otto Schmidt is coming out on Jan 1, 2020. Look out for Hawkeye: Freefall and Rosenberg’s upcoming Force Works (coming out Feb 2020) from Marvel! Celebrity-socialite Reno Selleti doesn’t believe in very much beyond Instagram comments, hipster drugs, and the flash of paparazzi cameras, so when a friend invites her to an EYES WIDE SHUT-type party she goes along mostly for the lulz. But the joke doesn’t feel as funny when she realizes it’s an actual occult ritual, and suddenly she’s seeing things… horrifying apparitions trying to warn her. “RUN.” There's Nothing There is a stylish & hallucinatory thriller about losing yourself in the bright lights and finding yourself at rock bottom by writer Patrick Kindlon, artist Maria Llovet, and published by Black Mask Studios. Patrick joins Brett and Elana for a brand new episode of Graphic Policy Radio to discuss the series and more. Patrick Kindlon is a comic writer whose credits include a decade of struggle in other artistic fields, some notoriety among people who get caught shoplifting from Whole Foods, and a few really great comics (due largely to collaborations that elevate his work). His breakthrough book was We Can Never Go Home with oft writing partner Matthew Rosenberg and artist Josh Hood. His most recent work, There's Nothing There with artist Maria Llovet, ups the darkness in his earlier work to pitch black. He is admittedly out-of-touch.  Tweet us your questions @graphicpolicy.

Hosts Elana and Brett are joined by Rosenberg to talk about his career in comics, his comic series 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank and We Can Never Go Home from Black Mask Studios, what it's like to write a certain Kingpin of crime for Marvel. Matthew Rosenberg was born and raised in New York City. The son, nephew, and brother of writers, he naturally spent the first 10 years of his professional life trying to avoid the same fate as them. After years of directing music videos, managing a print shop, touring the world managing bands, working at a comic shop, and co-owning a small indie record label, the fates have finally left him two choices; write comics professionally or starve to death trying. Armed only with his freakish knowledge of all things comic book and a complete lack of desire to do anything else, Matthew now finds himself a comic writer. I do, however have a love for these snacks (in moderation of course), and while living on the West Coast I started using chopsticks to eat these snacks. While some may think it slows down the eating, and others think it is completely weird, others have been using this technique years before I stumbled up it. Which brings us to the Major Spoilers Poll of the Week! Do you ever eat "cheesy snacks" with chopsticks? [poll id="378”] DISCUSSION: POWERS: WHO KILLED RETRO GIRL? And on the dirty city streets below, homicide detective Christian Walker does his job. Walker is teamed up with spunky rookie Detective Deena Pilgrim and the investigati on takes them from the seediest underbelly a city has to off er, to the gleaming towers that are home to immortal beings. As shocking twisted hidden truths about Retro Girl come to light, Walker finds that to solve this crime, he might have to reveal his own dark secret.
