With this episode, we come to the end of the first official Lungfish album on Dischord. A song that foreshadows much of what's to come for this project. Yah Soon joins me once again to wade into the deep end of this track. Then Patrick Kindlon (Drug Church/Self Defense Family) joins us to continue our discussion about Higg's seemingly effortless command of language, Ray Cappo and many philosophical threads in between....

Beware! You are about to enter into a stream of conversation about perhaps one of the heaviest, deepest and darkest of early Lungfish tracks. By all accounts, their first epic composition. Dan Shaw, of the band Landowner, returns to take this beast on and try and make sense of the mental carnage this song delivers. Then author/comic book writer/musician/podcaster Patrick Kindlon (Drug Church/Self Defense Family) joins me to plumb the depths of Lungfish obsession. I admit I'm afraid,....
Mike and Steve join forces for an epic conversation with multi-dimensional creative Patrick Kindlon. We dive into the current buzzing success of Drug Church, the immortality of Self Defense Family, and the past and present of hardcore. Whether it's new music from Earth Crisis, the growing momentum of younger bands in the scene like Anxious or GEL, or even a lesson on touring time management in relation to one's defecation schedule, Patrick's wit and wisdom is on full display in this chat. A nod to THE hardcore podcast, “Axe to Grind”, PK gives us a full-on “pit report” of a Guns ‘n Roses set he caught in his current hometown, Perth. Catch Drug Church on tour during their Hygiene album cycle in 2023, with new music and more tour dates on the horizon.
Patrick Kindlon is the always entertaining and outspoken frontman of the band "Drug Church." In this freestyle touring episode, Matt and Patrick check in from the road with hilarious updates and polarizing opinions from the frontlines of the music industry. We also dig into Patrick's "day job" as a comic book writer and creator. As well as his poetic lyrical approach and uncompromising artistic attitude. As always, brought to you by Sailor Jerry! Spinning Out (another music podcast) We talk to artists about their favorite albums and go on wild tangents. Today we're talking with Patrick Kindlon of the bands Drug Church and Self Defense Family. We talked about Lungfish's 2012 album "ACR 1999". We also talked about revisiting old material and about not understanding how time zones work. Pat is a man of many side-jobs, so promoting all of them is super hard, so check out the newest Drug Church album "Hygiene," as well as the newest string of Self Defense EPs that were released over the last year. Pat is also the co-host of the hardcore podcast Axe to Grind & if you've kept up with our pod you'll maybe remember that Bob Shedd (Ep. 2) and Tom Sheehan (Ep. 66) have also been guests, but if you weren't aware, then go back in the archives and check out their episodes. Lastly, Pat is also a very prolific comic book writer, and I'd recommend his newest books, Antioch and Frontiersman, out now on Image Comics. From Albany, New York – though as we'll learn, soon to feature a resident of Australia – next month, on March 11th, the great Drug Church release their fourth record Hygiene on the consistently fruitful Pure Noise Records. Long episode, short intro. Heavy stuff throughout and with a brilliant Cro-Mags anecdote to boot. Know this – on this episode we get deep into mine and singer Patrick Kindlon's ever shifting, hard to pin down politics. I'm sure we'll reconvene at some point for part two. Who knows, we might even talk about music on that one. Maybe. The James McMahon Music Podcast is a Spoook Media production. Spoook is also a record label, a promoter, a shop, a Substack - it's many things. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Jeremy talks to Patrick Kindlon, a comic-book writer and musician. During this episode they discuss how Patrick first got into comic books at the age of four, his favourite comic books and why he thinks they are still so popular. Partick also delves into his life whilst attending catholic school, becoming interested in music after listening to Elvis Costello in the record section of his local library. The pair also talk about Patricks first band, Turnstyle, the importance of playing to crowds that dislike you, and curbing your pride if you want to be financially successful. Hailing from Albany, New York, Drug Church has carved out a unique niche in the post-hardcore world. As articulated on their Spotify page, “They’re an unabashedly aggressive band that writes hooks you can’t stop humming — too poppy for the heavy crowd, too heavy for the poppy crowd.” And yet Drug Church’s proprietary sound continues to open new doors and attract new fans. In this episode we speak with vocalist Patrick Kindlon and guitarist Cory Galusha about their influences, their name, their thoughts on creating good music, and much more. Celebrity-socialite Reno Selleti doesn’t believe in very much beyond Instagram comments, hipster drugs, and the flash of paparazzi cameras, so when a friend invites her to an EYES WIDE SHUT-type party she goes along mostly for the lulz. But the joke doesn’t feel as funny when she realizes it’s an actual occult ritual, and suddenly she’s seeing things… horrifying apparitions trying to warn her. “RUN.” There's Nothing There is a stylish & hallucinatory thriller about losing yourself in the bright lights and finding yourself at rock bottom by writer Patrick Kindlon, artist Maria Llovet, and published by Black Mask Studios. Patrick joins Brett and Elana for a brand new episode of Graphic Policy Radio to discuss the series and more. Patrick Kindlon is a comic writer whose credits include a decade of struggle in other artistic fields, some notoriety among people who get caught shoplifting from Whole Foods, and a few really great comics (due largely to collaborations that elevate his work). His breakthrough book was We Can Never Go Home with oft writing partner Matthew Rosenberg and artist Josh Hood. His most recent work, There's Nothing There with artist Maria Llovet, ups the darkness in his earlier work to pitch black. He is admittedly out-of-touch. Tweet us your questions @graphicpolicy.
Des ados rebelles. Des mutants. De la théorie du complot. Pour ce sixième épisode de Comicsphere nous avons décidé de vous parler de We Can Never Go Home.
Episode 223 - This is the most unique podcast I have done to date. Patrick Kindlon is the vocalist for Self Defense Family and Drug Church. He’s a man of many talents and was one of my most requested guests on social media and finally, we have him on. We have a wide ranging discussion about internet culture, context and racist music. No stone is unturned in this chat and we hardly address any of the questions I prepared for him, but the conversation was incredible nonetheless. Consider being a Bone Marrow donor, like me. This episode we're joined by official friend of the show Nikki Sherman; colorist, artist, writer, and contributor for Comicosity.com! Our conversation is cut woefully short due to technical difficulties, however for the time we do have we talk about such things as Pokemon Go, Jeff Lemire's immense talent, and the professionalism of comics podcasts (specifically our own!). We also review some comics: Black Hammer #1, Weird Detective #2 and Plutona #1-5! Then before we get cut off we talk about Nikki's comic of choice- Black Mask's We Can Never Go Home, by Matthew Rosenberg, Patrick Kindlon, Josh Hood and Brian Level!Find out more on the That's The Issue website.
