The Hoffman Podcast

Ed McClune, beloved Hoffman Process teacher and coach since, the '80s, is our guest today. As Ed and Drew share at the end, this conversation is a good Hoffman geek-out.* Even though they geek out over all things Hoffman, Ed's whole Quadrinity* shows up in this one. His love shines through as he speaks about the Process, and about how those who come to do this deeply transformational work are courageous heroes. Ed also shares a bit about how the Process now appears in his everyday life. He speaks to the reason he feels we come to this life - to enjoy life in a human body. Ed calls this the sensuality of spirituality. An entire swath of experience has been denied to us because of our patterns; the Process opens us back up to a truly luscious embodied life. MORE ABOUT ED Ed & Bob Ed holds a Master's degree in counseling psychology from the University of San Francisco and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. What Ed likes about teaching the Process is: “Over and over again, through the years of teaching the Hoffman Process, I get to be present as people come into a greater experience of the Light that has always lived ‘far inside' them.” “The summation of all the gifts of the Process comes down to self-love and self-compassion. I don't need to be different, more refined, or successful to be lovable. The Light is the Light, and Ed is Ed. Falling down isn't evidence that there's something wrong with me, only evidence that I'm still alive.” Ed is the father of two sons and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. MORE ABOUT THE SHOW * Geek out:  to become excited or enthusiastic about a favored subject or activity. First known use of geek out: circa 1990 * Quadrinity:  "I coined the word Quadrinity to represent the four aspects of a human being: the Emotional, Intellectual, Physical and Spiritual. The unique capacities and functions of each aspect can be considered separately, but it is the balance of all aspects working together harmoniously that fulfills us as human beings." - Bob Hoffman Check out The Hoffman Connection, Hoffman's radio show (2012) with Ed and Raz on Voice America. How do conventional wells look in Kansas right now, what issues are they lobbying for across the state and what’s on the horizon? Today Phil is chatting with Ed Cross, President of the Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association (KIOGA) about how he got into the oil and gas industry and how he ended up working for KIOGA. You’ll hear about the state and federal issues that they’re fighting for and what has been going on in Kansas in the oil and gas industry. Ed shares what he’s most excited about and the importance of educating others on the importance of oil and gas.    Here are some of the things you can look forward to in this episode:   How Ed got into the oil and gas industry An overview of what Ed does at KIOGA The statewide and federal issues that they’re lobbying for What Ed is most excited about for the future of oil and gas   Highlights: 2:48 How Ed got into the oil and gas industry 3:21 What Ed does as the President of the association 3:59 What is happening in KIOGA and the oil and gas industry currently 4:58 What they’re fighting for at the state level 5:40 The issues they deal with on the federal level 7:20 The outlook of conventional wells moving forward in Kansas 9:13 Production in Kansas dropping due to financial issues in 2014 10:05 Adjusting technology to be used in Kansas 10:30 What KIOGA will be advocating for in the upcoming months 12:30 What Ed is most excited about for the future of the oil and gas industry   About KIOGA: Founded in 1937, the Kansas Independent Oil & Gas Association (KIOGA) is a nonprofit member organization representing independent oil and natural gas producers in Kansas, as well as allied service and supply companies. The purpose of KIOGA as stated in the original articles of incorporation, is “. . . to improve the market for oil and gas produced in Kansas and to promote the welfare of the oil and gas industry in the State of Kansas.”   Independent oil and natural gas producers are nonintegrated companies which receive nearly all their revenue from production at the wellhead. Independents are in the oil and natural gas exploration and production business and are not major integrated companies who also refine and market petroleum end-products. Independents account for 93% of the oil and 63% of the natural gas produced in Kansas. Nationally, independents drill 90% of domestic oil and natural gas wells and produce over 80% of America’s oil and natural gas.   With over 4,200 members, KIOGA is the lead state and national advocate for Kansas independent oil and natural gas producers. We are committed to ensuring that tomorrow’s energy policy will be one in which our members grow and prosper. Our active presence before the Kansas Legislature, U.S. Congress, state and federal regulatory agencies, and other governmental decision-makers means the concerns of Kansas independent oil and natural gas producers are heard in Topeka and Washington.   Links: KIOGA     Head over to our website to set up a free account with SherWare software. ***Friends of the Military Episode*** I am really excited for today’s show, for a number of reasons.  First off,  I have been looking for people who can really talk about navigating the mind.  One of the most difficult challenges we face is learning to think effectively.  It is most often our mind that gets in the way of us reaching our goals and I have struggled to find anyone who can say much that really makes sense to me.  This interview is a very intense and long discussion, but it is all actionable items anyone can do to understand and improve your mind.  I’m also excited because, Ed Earle is one of the most dynamic people I’ve met.  I don’t know if I’ve known anyone to have such diverse skillsets.  He had a company rank on the inc 500 list 3 years in a row, and he built other companies that also ranked. He has designed and built many products like an FDA approved sports drink, different firearms, a pickleball paddle, combative knives to name a few. I love one of his recent projects that you can send in some frabric from an old uniform and they will repurpose it into knife grips or a belt buckle. I’ll include a Link in the show notes. He is walking proof that it is amazing what you can do when you know how to leverage your mind! There is so much value in this interview. Like I said I’ve done a lot of searching and researching on this topic, and I’ve never had anyone give me such powerful tools for success. It took me a few conversations with Ed to really get it and to warn you, this conversation is quite long, please don’t try and force it.  If you aren’t getting it, listen to it in pieces, come back later,  I ask a lot of questions and go into nuances. You don’t necessarily need all of that right from the beginning.  Don’t overwhelm yourself. I sometimes get complaints that the interviews are too long, but I will keep asking questions if I’m still curious, use what applies to you.  For this episode’s Warrior Challenge: Ed says it is all too often people really don’t know what we want to be and do.  So his challenge is to keep a journal and write down all the things that you are focusing on, spending time on, or that capture your attention. Then one by one check them off to see if it is truly where your heart lies.  If it is in your heart it is something you love and something you love to think about. Where does your mind go when you are not required to think? What Ed talks about:  Understanding the way the mind works Why affirmations don’t work Diffusing mental bombs How to create a no quit attitude Building a success map in your mind Actionable items- Internal inteviews Shifting into familiar and connected Finding good questions- like what were your biggest failures? Working until you get a good answer Creating a list of things that motivate you Confronting places of struggle in the mind – Emotional Bombs Including flattery in the self interview The difference between internal interviews and real interviews Future-speaking Interviewing yourself into confidence Finding what gratifies you Pulling off the blinders – your own compass Self interview with relationships It takes time, dedication, research, and practice You could interview yourself into being more delusional Metaphorical ex- part of the brain is ALWAYS going to win The mind does not like inaccuracies Emotional Suicide The internal interview for tactical situations   Links for Ed: https://www.edwardearle.com/ https://www.tacticaltrailerpark.com/product-page/war-grips-knife-grips?fbclid=IwAR1XroqiSK0zFCWkhrmJsv6XVjDcI0B_UATUd4CWUg1lo6BVboJvEfypJN0  For more information please visit www.tamfpodcast.com/mind

Our special guest this week is Ed Conarchy, with Cherry Creek Mortgage. Ed has closed over 4,000 loans in his career. That's right, 4,000! Ed and I unpack how to separate yourself from the typical path that most people come to you on, which is trying to put a mortgage in silo, or in a box of, "Okay, I need a 30 year fixed. I need the lowest rate." Like Ed asks hey, I you ask people in a mall, come up to him, "What's better, 4.6 or 5%?" Well, people are conditioned to choose 4.6, right? What Ed and I talk about is, how do we take the mortgage conversation out of this silo and be more fiscally literate? What you'll hear Ed talk about is how he's self-educated himself to help him have a more fiscally literate conversation that teaches our prospects and clients one aspect of financial planning that they didn't know before. Ed will share actual examples of where he was able to win a deal by being half a point higher than another lender. He was the fourth lender that they shopped and came to, and he was still able to win the transaction, being a half a point higher. Help your clients understand the long term financial impact of a mortgage, and then position yourself as being a key advisor in helping clients plan and understand their financial future and plan.  Biggest takeaways you don’t want to miss and links mentioned:   >> What is Fiscal Literacy - and How Can You Get It? >> Becoming a Wholistic Advisor >> Taking the Rate Conversation Out of the Silo >> Competing Against the "Push Button Mortgage" >> >> >> >>   If you enjoyed this episode, please share with your colleagues & friends and leave a review.

Today's guest on the podcast is a professional boxer, author, speaker, chess player, physics major, intellectual, and virtual mentor to a host of men connected with him on Twitter. Ed attributes much of his success in life to a fateful decision he made to give up alcohol for a season to focus on his life's ambitions. Ed and I discuss the expansive benefits of giving up alcohol and why most, if not all, men would also benefit by making this decision. The goal of this podcast is not to demonize all that choose to partake in drinking. The goal is to illuminate the benefits of taking some time away from drinking so that men who stand to gain immensely by doing so (i.e. most men) will be motivated to make that decision and reap the life-changing rewards. Show Highlights - The specific life events that motivated Ed to give up drinking - What Ed’s drinking habits were like before he decided to go sober - How to objectively determine if you have a drinking problem - The odd reactions to expect from others when not drinking at social events - How your friends will react to your decision to stop drinking - Why some guys that binge drink often actually don’t have a drinking problem - The consequences of consuming alcohol most guys fail to consider - Why drinking doesn’t actually help with social anxiety and is often harmful to our social interactions with others - What to expect if you decide to drink non-alcoholic beers and wines - The financial benefits of sobriety - Twitter Q&A on sobriety - The most pragmatic reason why every guy should consider taking a break from drinking alcohol Be sure to connect with Ed on his blog (EdLatimore.com) and on Twitter (@EdLatimore). The offensive line is usually the most odd and intelligent group on a football team. A good o line loves to be called blue collar. Join me with Eduardo Nuno as discusses how to build an offensive line for a national championship team. 8 x National Championship offensive line coach at San Francisco City College. Coach Ed is an amazing study. He grew up in Tijuana and crossed the border to attend high school and play football in the San Diego area. Going back after school. Amazing fortitude. He might be the largest Mexican you will ever meet. Also one of the most endearing men you might meet. He is a big Teddy bear. (I will pay for this) I met him when I played at Pacific. And he immediately called me a puppy dog as he named all new rookies. The importance of mentors like Jack McGuire, Wayne Nunley, and Ed Sowash and more. What Ed loves about coaching the Oline. Ed played Minor league football in San Francisco. Started coaching at SFCity in 1993 and played How the problems in Youth motivated him to coach at the higher level. Technique and steps is primary focus in practice. How UPS(yes those that deliver stuff) efficiency influences him as a coach. Why he has never been to a football clinic When you step on the field its time to get to work. Ed is not a motivator on game day. He is a strategist. A typical practice at San Francisco City College. The principle of practice is always to breakdown movement into small parts then work on those small parts into a progression until you get to the whole thing. (sounds like a process to me). Which could mean 4 or 5 drills to get to one move. Ed tells us the most important thing to him about coaching. His indo work is just like a 4 year school so his guys transition real well into the next level. What does a Coach Ed day look like? Why it is important for the players to know what is expected of them. He demonstrates ritual. How he gets his guys pumped in pre practice and how he feedbacks to players post practice. How he scripts and is very obsessive on everything. He will send out a group text when he is watching film and get on players. I heard him repeating words from when we played "That's not gonna win for us" The mythology of SFCity. 4th and Goal Documentary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKCxkDYzMwI https://www.facebook.com/tim.okeefe.page http://www.timokeefe.net/
