Hey Besties it's Steph! In today's solo episode, I decided to open up about something that I have been struggling with a bit lately as an entrepreneur. On this journey, one of the biggest obstacles we will face is the idea of Imposter Syndrome, which is really this concept of feeling like you are showing up as someone you are not in order to "fake it till you make it". I really wanted to bring to light what this has been like for me lately. I have been finding myself REALLY dealing with the loudness of Imposter Syndrome, I have found myself questioning ALOT of my moves as a small business owner & entrepreneur recently. I really wanted to come on today to speak to all my other fellow entrepreneurs to let you know that if this is something you are going through too-- you are NOT alone. This journey is NOT easy, especially as we show up on social media in such an intimate way, baring ourselves to the world it is NOT easy at times. I just wanted to be that reminder & that voice in your mind that you are NOT alone on this journey. You are NOT the only one who has a loud inner critic telling you that you aren't good enough. I was inspired to share this message with YOU! I truly hope it helps YOU, wherever you might be on your journey Bestie! Let's go through this together!! I hope this episode helps you, it I hope it is a reminder that YOU are doing amazing things in this world Bestie, don't let your inner critic tell you otherwise. We are SO excited to welcome Kacey Roy, from Kate & Company in Spring Lake, NJ onto the podcast this week! Kacey has SUCH an inspiring, inspirational & motivation story that she shares with us in this episode! We had SO much fun recording this episode with Kacey! We all really connected & vibed over our common love for living down at the Jersey Shore! Kacey really dives deep in this episode & shares her entire story about what it was like for her, growing up with her mother who owned the incredible Kate & Company story in Spring Lake, NJ! Kacey had inspiring dreams of her own she was pursuing when life took an unexpected but beautiful detour bringing her BACK to her family roots. We LOVE how Kacey has really interwoven her family & community into her business. She really chats in this episode how important it is to get involved in the community when you own a business in a small town! Ready to get to know Kacey a bit more Besties!? Kacey describes herself as a mama, wife, running that boutique life. Kate + Co opened September of 1995 when Kacey was just beginning her college career at Villanova University. She thought she would become a journalist or a writer but every chance she got she found herself back working in the shop. After graduating in 1999, Kacey became engaged to her now husband and started working full time in the business until having her first son, Ben is 2004, then son Luke in 2006. Taking a short break from steady hours she still worked every Sunday and then eventually Tuesdays until her boys were of school age. In February of 2020 she became a partner and found herself, like so many small business owners, learning how to navigate a government shut down due to the pandemic. Pushing way outside her comfort zones she found a way to reach her customers though social media and developing a website. She's super proud to have weathered the storm and continues to run the shop with love and passion with her mom as her partner and mentor. She's a proud mom and wife too. We hope you enjoy the episode Besties! Here is how you can further connect with Kacey & visit Kate & Company! There's a level of risk to anything in life. Leaping into the unknown as an entrepreneur & embracing the risks that come with them can be easier said than done, but it's also SO important that you CHOOSE to take the leaps that feel risky, rather than living a life filled with "what if's".In this episode, Jess & Steph explore this topic as it relates to their entrepreneurial journeys and motivate you to open up your mind to what the "risks" can really BRING, regardless of the outcome!*Attention besties! In today's episode, we have another short & sweet solo episode from Steph! She dives DEEP in this episode into something that inspired her this weekend to talk about the idea of having faith on your entrepreneurial journey! Sometimes we get so caught up in the challenges of being a business owner that we tend to forget that there is a bigger picture of being a small business owner than we realize! We were given this dream for a very specific reason that only WE can carry out! The ideas that were put on YOUR heart are there for a reason! Sometimes we have to have a little blind faith in the unseen during this journey. We have to understand that we have this dream on our heart, we want to get to the end goal so badly, the journey might be tough, we might think we aren't doing the right thing. Maybe we feel like we may never make it to the end goal. Maybe we feel as though we aren't where we are AT all & the vision hasn't come to fruition how we WANTED it to.....but MAYBE it never was supposed to come to fruition how WE wanted it to. Maybe at the end of it all......there was something bigger planned then we could have possibly realized. Maybe we had to go through the really tough challenging parts to GET to something better than we could have EVER imagined! We hope this episode INSPIRES you Besties, we hope it is a reminder that we are ALL on this journey for a reason. Don't give up, keep reaching for your dreams, keep fighting for that goal because you will get it. It might not be in the way you THOUGHT you'd get there but you WILL get there! Both Steph & Jess identify as "extroverted- introverts", meaning when they're in the mood to socialize, they LOVE socializing (especially with their business besties!), so they absolutely have extroverted tendencies. However, they both ALSO need a lot of alone time and truly have that introverted nature within them of NEEDING time to process their emotions + experiences so that they can fill their cup and regain their energy with solo time.Being that they both have these introverted personality qualities, they have struggled a bit lately with showing up on social media daily and in the certain way IG experts say you "should" be showing up.In this episode, they dive deep into this topic and share their personal experiences around it as of lately, and the mindset they've taken on with how they plan to move forward!Thank you to Jess from Smooth Moves Wax And Skin Studio for sponsoring episode 172 on the Besties & Business Podcast! The topic of this conversation was sparked by a personal experience where Jess recognized that her old, negative perfectionist patterns were rising up again in her work behind the scenes, without her even fully realizing it at first.Jess has opened up on the podcast before about how she has perfectionist tendencies & Steph has opened up about the fact that she actually navigates the opposite! They both have come extremely far in this sense, but that doesn't mean that negative, old patterns don't come to the surface here & there!During this episode, both Jess & Steph explore how their negative perfectionist/non-perfectionist tendencies show back up in their life & business at times, and how they overcome them when they do. They also explore how they have had to navigate their differences in their business partnership, including the positive that has come with it & the challenges that have as well.Want to stay in touch with us?! It's Jess's first solo episode of 2024 and it's all about how she's currently creating change in her routine & switching up her workflows, to help inspire you to figure out what that could look like for YOU in your daily life. We've been chatting a lot lately here on the podcast about the action steps we've been taking behind the scenes as business partners to switch things up and bring more ease & flow to our work. On episode 159, Jess brings you in on how she's doing that personally, too, specifically with how she's been spending some of her mornings!Sometimes when you're navigating challenging seasons as an entrepreneur, changing your routines up a bit can bring a new energy, that maybe you didn't even know you needed! In this episode you get to hear about how this is showing up in Jess's life & reflect on her experiences to expand your entrepreneurial mindset. Remember that we're all different, so don't feel like you have to approach this in the same way that Jess is! Always make sure to relate this back to your lifestyle -- in a way that feels aligned to YOU.Enjoy, bestie! If you've been listening to recent episodes, you know that we've been reflecting a lot lately. Something we've been really intentional about is getting real with ourselves as we reflect on what behind the scenes workflows still feel really aligned for us, and which ones don't.In 2024, we're focused on working smarter rather than harder, so that we can bring more ease and flow into our day to day life and business behind the scenes. Since we LOVE sharing our entrepreneurial journeys with you all, we felt called to bring you in on some specific examples about how we're bringing new energy & improvements to our workflows behind the scenes. We hope this episode motivates you to reflect on your own workflows after listening and reflecting on our experiences. Remember that what works for us, might not be what works for you, so use your discernment and consider this as it relates to you, your business, and your life!Want to stay in touch with us?!
