We are a group of friends, neighbors to be exact, that have acquired a taste for a variety of craft beers. We decided to make a podcast to highlight the different craft beers in the south central Pennsylvania area. Each episode we will sample a few local craft beers with hopes of visiting the breweries and meeting the brewers to discuss their love of craft beer. Season 5 Episode 7 George Street Brewing Co. The whole CPP Crew was back in studio and they even found Kevin! Well, his recent surgery has him home and we were glad to have him back in studio. We had the pleasure of welcoming in Bill Sierra, from George Street Brewing Co., to tell us his story of how this idea became reality. From purchasing the location for the real estate and turning the commercial property into his own business. This episode was a little different than our previous ones, Bill brought with us some of their food and Penn Brewery beer, which is what they serve on tap. A Penn State University graduate that was in the wealth management field and started a brewery in downtown Penn State. From kombucha to having a an interest in starting a brewery, his story is phenomenal and is a must watch. Martin is brewing up traditional German Style lager beers and following the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) with just four ingredients: water, malt, hops and yeast. Sign of the Horse Brewery Season 3 Episode 16 Bret and Dave had the pleasure to host Brad Wilson and Matt Moore, two of the co-owners, from Sign of the Horse Brewery in Hanover, PA and Red Lion, Pa. We get to find out why they started a brewery and how the name came about. It seems as though there was a tavern in the 1700's in Hanover that was called Sign of the Horse. Even Thomas Jefferson visited to have a pint. They have actually three locations, their first on York Street, a traditional beirhaus on the square in Hanover and their newest location in Red Lion, PA. It is a very interesting story that you need to see for yourself. from Brad's corporate background to Matt's homebrewing days, they have created a must visit place and grab a pint or two for yourself. Recorded Live at Yorktoberfest 2023 on October 14 at Memorial Park in York, PA! Bret had the privilege of attending this great event hosted by Crocodiledog Marketing. Yes the weather was not very cooperative and it was cold, but everyone made the best of it and for the most part, plenty of people came out and enjoyed the event. Bret was able to get a few guests on the show to find out more about them and why they attend festivals like this. Our first guest was Matt, from Crocodiledog Marketing, and we got more than one word out of him this time (LOL). Matt and his crew host numerous events like this and are hoping to keep promoting different venues for York County. Thistle Finch Distillery Season 3 Episode 12 The CPP Crew (Bret, Dave & Kevin) had Arvin Alston, Head Distiller, from Thistle Finch Distillery in Lancaster, PA in studio. We find out Arvin's history and how he became a distiller and what actually is a Thistle Finch. If you're from Lancaster, PA you've seen the Distlefink, or Thistle Finch, bird on the hex signs surrounding the Amish Country. They used the English translation to keep with the heritage in the area. We learned a lot about them and totally enjoyed our conversation. Aldus Brewing Season 3 Episode 8 The CPP crew had the pleasure of having Jason Mininger and Ryan Magee from Aldus Brewing in Hanover, PA in studio. What a great time finding out how they got started and where the name came from (Aldus Manutius). Their slogan, "Festina Lente" or make haste slowly, represents the quality of their product and the time they put into it. We learn about their business from distribution, to brew pub, expansion and even a craft malt vinegar program. If you've never been to Aldus in Hanover, we recommend making a stop to see them. Trace Brewing Season 3 Episode 6 Bret and Dave had the pleasure of talking with Aadam Soorma from Trace Brewing in Pittsburgh, PA. Aadam reached out after Bret had visited them back in March. The visit was by recommendation and glad it was. Trace is a quaint place to visit with a cool industrial feel. Besides great beer, they also do gourmet coffee. Aadam filled us in his journey to Trace and the whole story behind what Trace is all about. They also help teach the future generation of brewers with their Vocational Program. What a great idea! Dave and Bret had a great time with Jared Barnes from Collusion Tap Works in York, PA and Lititz, PA. We had a great time getting to know Jared and what drives him to make some quality craft beer. From his passion to open his location in Royal Square in York City and then to open a taproom in Lititz. Season 3 Episode 2 - Something Wicked Brewing Dave and Bret sat down with Jon Sanders (taproom manager) and Josh Kinard (head brewer) from Something Wicked Brewing in Hanover, PA. What a blast we had learning about how a group of Parrotheads that had the idea of starting a brewery and how they came up with the name. And they will be celebrating their 8th anniversary on June 8, 2023. We find out how Jon got involved and what got Josh into brewing. This should be a definite stop when in Hanover, because there's always something wicked going on! Jon and Josh brought along some great beers to try; a lager, kettle sour, IPA and their signature stout. Welcome to Season 3 of the Central PA Pour! We had all three of us in studio and had the pleasure of sitting down and talking to Adam Chamberlain from Cartel Brewing & Blending in Lancaster, PA. We find out how he came up with the name and logo and it's a very interesting story and NOT what you think of when you hear the word cartel. He describes his passion and different style of creating a quality craft beer and did we enjoy what he brought for us to try. The whole crew was in studio to reflect on Season 2. We had one of our first followers on, homebrewers, local business coalition and well established breweries.
