This Week on Next on the Tee Get ready for one of the most fun and insightful episodes of the season! In Part 1 of this week's show, I'm joined by two incredible guests who bring a mix of laughs, life lessons, and game-changing golf knowledge. First up is PGA Professional and Top Mental Performance Coach Joe Bosco. Joe came highly recommended by top instructor Jeff Smith, and after spending time with him, I can see why. Joe is not only a short game guru—he's also a certified hypnotherapist, and in this episode, we dive into what hypnotherapy is, how it works, and how it can help you improve your game and your recovery. (Spoiler alert: I even went through a session myself to help with my ankle surgery recovery!) Joe also shares some techniques and strategies for sharpening your game with your scoring clubs, making this a segment one you'll want to bookmark and come back to. Then, fan favorite and 1989 Open Champion Mark Calcavecchia returns for another round of great stories and off-the-cuff laughs. We hear about the infamous Christmas card from him and Brenda featuring a streaker at The Open, his encounter with a water cooler that nearly took out his mom, and how JC Snead taught him—and by extension, me—what the “Through Line” is and why you don't walk in it. We also talk about his practice rounds with Tiger at the 2000 Open, wins at the 1993 and 1995 Argentine Open, and why he believes All in the Family and Green Acres deserve more love. This one's packed with entertainment and insights from tee to green and beyond. Don't miss it!

All Gas, No Brakes: Kalea & Jace Bring the Heat Sibling Stars Making Waves in Youth Baseball and Softball All Gas, No Brakes sets the stage for a high-octane episode featuring Kalea and Jace Winston—siblings who are proving that talent, work ethic, and leadership can all run in the family. Hosted by Coach Aaron with co-hosts Banana Jake and Lily Scott, the energy never dips as these two rising stars talk about their journey through elite travel ball, their goals, and their business acumen. From Kalea's MVP-winning softball season to Jace's 15 home runs in 2024—including a 350-foot bomb—these two athletes are bringing the heat and then some. Yet, it’s not just about home runs and highlights. Listeners get to hear what drives them, how they push each other, and why they launched The Winston Vibe, a glove and merch company designed for ballplayers like them. Winston Vibe: The Glove Brand Born from Ambition The Winstons didn't just want to wear the best gear—they wanted to make it. With support from their parents and a relentless entrepreneurial spirit, they created The Winston Vibe, a brand delivering affordable, customizable gloves for players who want more control over their equipment. As Jace puts it: “We wanted cheaper and more customizable gloves—so we just made our own business.” Their passion for quality gear and their deep baseball and softball IQ make this venture more than just a side hustle—it’s a statement. Bringing the Heat On and Off the Field Kalea shares her passion for slapping and her ability to track rise balls with precision, revealing insights into what it takes to be a dynamic leadoff hitter. Meanwhile, Jace, a switch-hitter who's more comfortable from the right side, reflects on being invited to SelectFest, playing for Team Zilla, and even launching bombs off elite pitching. The episode dives into training habits, pregame rituals, and how the two keep each other sharp. Their competition fuels their growth—especially when it comes to who's faster. Rising Leaders with College Dreams and Big Goals Though young, Kalea and Jace already think like leaders. Kalea's goals extend to playing for Duke and potentially studying athletic training. Jace, too, eyes Duke and talks about finding a balance between performance and academics. Their walk-up songs say it all—“Here I Go” by Mystikal and “They Just Don't Know” by Gyft, each one capturing the energy they bring to the field. Baseball, Softball, and the Winston Mentality This episode showcases more than impressive stats. It's about grit, vision, and heart. With Lily Scott and Banana Jake joining the conversation, it's also packed with fun debates, great questions, and unforgettable quotes. The sibling dynamic is authentic and uplifting—a reminder that greatness grows where hard work and family support collide. What does home feel like to you? This weekend Pastor Steve Andres continued our BRING THE HEAT series with a message about an under-appreciated quality necessary to be a leader: hospitality.1 Timothy 3:1-3A church leader must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must be hospitable, and he must be able to teach. The Apostle Paul understood the importance of opening our homes and lives to outsiders, so he considers it a qualification for leadership. Why?1) Home is one of the central themes in the Bible. From God's presence in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 1, to God's presence in the Garden City in Revelation 21, the whole Bible is one long story of exile and returning home. 2) Jesus came to bring lost people home.Jesus did more than teach and heal. Most of his ministry was spent eating and sharing with sinners, ushering in the kingdom of God one meal at a time.3) Hospitality is the practice of inviting strangers to be friends.Paul tells Timothy to practice welcoming outsiders. Ask yourself, "How can I use my home, my money, or my resources to invite someone into a deeper experience of God's hospitality and grace?”Hebrews 13:1-2Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

How do we find the motivation to fan into flame the gifts God has given us when we are up against a difficult task? This weekend Pastor Joaquin continued our series BRING THE HEAT with a message about what we should remember when we lack motivation. 1 Timothy 1:12-14I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.Timothy was up against a tall task at the church of Ephesus having to stand against false teachers. Paul encourages Timothy by taking a trip down memory lane of his own life. Here is what he chose to remember.1) Remember Jesus chose you.Paul finds motivation by remembering that day on the Damascus Road when he was chosen by Jesus. When speaking about Paul to Ananias in the book of Acts, Jesus said:Acts 9:15“Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. Our motivation starts when we remember we are CHOSEN!2) Remember Jesus appoints and empowers you.Paul reminds himself he was chosen for a reason. He was appointed to service and he knew that Christ gave him the strength to do what he was appointed to do.3) Remember Jesus' grace for you. When we remember our past, it shouldn't bring us to a place of shame and guilt. It should propel us into a heart of gratitude every single time. Like Paul, the memories of his past sins reminded him of how great God's grace is. It was the spark that ignited his motivation behind what he was called to do.
America loves hot sauce. A 2021 Instacart survey found 74% of consumers eat hot sauce with their food, and when there was a shortage of the popular Huy Fong Foods' sriracha hot sauce last year, one bottle would go for as much as $52 on Amazon. Right now, they go for $9. But given Greater Boston's reputation for cuisine that is the opposite of spicy (clam chowda, anyone?) you might be surprised that Massachusetts has a long history with hot sauce — the first bottled cayenne sauces appeared here in 1807.“There is a really, really long history of use of hot and spicy foods in the Americas,” Megan Elias, director of the food studies programs at Boston University, told Under the Radar. “The capsicum comes from the Americas. And it was, then exported out to Europe and to the rest of the world, really crucially. So it ends up in South Asia and ends up in Africa, getting kind of involved ... in the foods there. And then, eventually kind of comes back to the U.S.”The hot sauce market in the U.S. is projected to grow from about $3 billion in 2023 to more than $5 billion by 2030, and there will be plenty of spicy food for local fans to sample at the upcoming, inaugural Rhythm N' Spice festival in Cambridge on Saturday, May 4. It reflects the area's growing desire for spicy flavors, says Nicola Williams, producer of the festival. She plans to highlight the culinary diversity that exists in Greater Boston.“We have a spicy Jamaican vegetarian and beef patty challenge. We have a spicy pizza challenge with a local, Black-owned restaurant right here in Cambridge. We have, wings. And we're going to have three categories of flavors, from African sauces, to jerk, to hot sauce from all over the world,” she said. “And so we want to make sure that we infuse all of this spice throughout the event. We also have dance so you can shake it off after you've blown your mouth or palates.”GUESTSNicola Williams, producer of the Rhythm N' Spice Hot Sauce Fest, president of The Williams AgencyBrian Ruhlmann, founder and owner of Craic Sauce in Lowell, MassachusettsMegan Elias, director of the food studies programs at Boston University

This show is another check-in with a former guest to see what's changed since our last interview. Today we talk with Kelly Calabria, founder of Kelly's Jelly. We last chatted with Kelly on episode #46, released in June of 2020. A quick background: Kelly's Great Aunt Danny had a special recipe for peppery jelly that was irresistible and downright addicitve. However, part of it's specialty was the difficulty in making it. The hot flavor came from the habanero peppers, which unleash and incredible burning sensation to skin and eyes when they are cut into. On top of that, boiling sugar water can also create a messy and dangerous situation. But Aunt Danny's Habanero Pepper Jelly was worth the work and Kelly and husband Adam would create jars of it for family and friends for the Holidays. Then that same story you have heard before, everyone said “You should sell this!” and the entrepreneurial journey began. Starting in 2010, it was local Farmers Markets and the name change to Kelly's Jelly, which had more market zing to it. Apologies to Danny. So what's changed since our 2020 show? COVID caused many problems with food service and supply chain issues, which have improved but still haunt the company. Inflation is a bigger problem confronting the company now and distributor mergers have taken away choices and eliminated competition for distribution channels, meaning higher prices for the food producers. But the company has also countered with new products for their audience. In addition, they have come up with smaller sized jars of their pepper jellies to fit in cheese and deli sections where the shelf real estate is very valuable. Charcuterie boards also are a perfect place for specialty jellies, and the smaller jar fits right in with that venue. The newest product is a pepper honey product developed in cooperation with the Oregon State University's Food Innovation Center (host Sarah Masoni is the Director) which just shipped the same week as this interview. In addition to the pepper honey, the product line is an assortment of delicious pepper fruit jellies and fruit spreads in individual jars and gift packs. Fruit flavors are pineapple, strawberry, blueberry lemon and marionberry, the company's number one seller. All berries are Oregon grown and all ingredients are sourced from producers who represent the best of their local production. Kelly's Jelly is family-owned and woman run (Kelly). Kelly loves the challenge of the CEO role, relishing the problem-solving of issues that face her company on a regular basis. She loves navigating the path through the food industry hurdles for a small company slaying the big dragons of the grocery store shelf. The big questions facing her now are: Go national? Distribute 100% through distributors? These are huge questions because they put a CEO in the position of committing a company to expenses and obligations that can sink the ship if things don't go to plan. But Kelly and Adam seem to be faring very well to date. You can buy their jellies and spreads online at: https://kellysjelly.com/ You also can find them at local Portland area grocers, and national grocers on the west coast. Follow them: IG @kellysjellyoregon, FB @kellysjelly. Our hosts: Twitter - @sarahmasoni and @spicymarshall, Instagram - @masoniandmarshall.
