Through a ton of mistakes and challenges I've had in business, money, health and relationships, I've learned there truly is ZERO substitute for experience. BUT you can fasttrack it. Thanks for listening! Grateful for you.
We back! A lot has changed since we last talked – kids, businesses bought and sold, real estate bought, moved again ... But I'm still here to serve you. Find out why you will always be stuck in the rat race and lose out on opportunities if you continue to put money first in your life. Get in touch: https://linktr.ee/juanvlopez
I can't even lie...the first week of owning my new business was the hardest week of my life in recent memory. Expenses, employees, permits, no income, leases, licenses, learning new systems, being alone, being in a new city... It got overwhelming. I come fully transparent in this podcast & give you a look behind the life I'm growing in. Message me if this helped you – IG @JuanVLopez
You are expendable. Don't be afraid to go away for a while. Use it or lose it. Pick one thing... These are some of the biggest lessons I and my community learned in 2018. Check out the podcast and let me know what you think. Happy New Year!
Self-awareness and self-assessment - two of the most important things you need to get clarity on in life! Why? Because it's so hurtful and wasteful when you chase things because you see your friends or people on social media seemingly happy with them - not understanding that it's not what YOU truly want. Too many people wasting time, energy and money on things they don't even want. Let's get clear in 2019. PS, connect with me on Instagram if you haven't already: http://instagram.com/juanvlopez
There have been multiple times in my life in which I could literally zoom out and see myself growing minute-by-minute. This is one of those times (I'm in the middle of a business acquisition). In this podcast, we break down the #1 proven way I know to personally grow so you can take your life to new levels in 2019.
New year is right around the corner! I'm suuuuuuper excited. Not only for a fresh start at a new Lakers calendar ;) but also for the big momentum a lot of people are going to gain heading into a new season. One of the biggest things you need to get clear on is how to not take on too many things. How to best spend your time, money and energy. We dive into that psychology in this show. Enjoy!
6ix9ine is in jail at the time of this podcast. Turns out, some of his people weren't doing right by him. Serves as a reminder that we're responsible for us, but we're also responsible for who we allow around us. We dive into that, discuss whether self-drive is teachable and break down how Eric Thomas became the GOAT in motivational speaking. Hope you enjoy.
4 main topics we discussed in today's podcast: 1) Chipotle and its racism accusations toward a manager. 2) Two old meatheads talking about millennials in the gym. 3) Why your peace should be non-negotiable. 4) A power boost to get your day going. Enjoy and Tweet me! @JuanVLopez
2018 has been a helluva year. More sacrifices, work, sleep deprivation, investments, risks and changes in this year more than any other year combined. And my relationship has taken its hits. This podcast is for the hustlers out there, the grinders, the ambitious who are always on the climb – who have the "dog" mindset as I call it. But might be bringing that dog mindset into their relationship...
How I put on 30 pounds in one week, the little hater comment that upsets me and how to keep going after what you already have – we dive into a bunch on this week's podcast. Enjoy & lmk what you think!
Yes, the title of this podcast is a jab at our 45th American President ;) But on a serious note: We dive into a few subjects on this podcast. 1) Drew Brees breaking the all-time passing yards record in the NFL. 2) Looking at ALL the possibilities of something going wrong in what you're doing. 3) Sacrificing what you have for what you want. Enjoy - let's goooooooooooo!
One of the best qualities you can have is being able to solve problems on the go. Too many people have something go wrong or not according to plan and get totally derailed. Life is going to throw all kinds of stuff at you and if you stop when you face a little resistance, you won't get very far. This is for all my HUSTLERS - not just entrepreneurs or business people. For anyone who's willing to put things together and work through problems to create a life they love.
Got into a few topics today, including the halftime retirement of NFL player Vontae Davis of the Buffalo Bills and how I responded to a young man who asked how he could get started on all his ideas. Little bit of everything in this one - enjoy, send me feedback and share!
Is it me, or are hotel mirrors propped to make us look better? I swear, I can pig out on hamburgers, donuts and steak, but go back to my room looking jacked! Lol my mirror at home ain't like that, though. On this podcast, we dive into the topic of why we lie to ourselves and how we've become masters at it.
Did yall see the ad Nike put out on Colin Kaepernick? OOOOOO-WEEEEH! We break down the business and branding strategy behind this. PLUS – I tell yall about how I had $0 in my bank account for 4 months after graduating with 2 bachelor's degrees and what it took for me to dig myself out of that hole. You'll love this one ;)
We got into an #AskJuanLo for this week's podcast: My thoughts on MLMs, the root of bad habits, lessons learned from my first fix & flip, and a few more. Message me your questions on IG @JuanVLopez or email hi@juanvlopez.com!
I'm tryna make moooooooooooves ;) Lol how in the heck did that song pop?! This podcast is specifically for creators – those of you wanting to be influencers on Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat or anywhere on the internet. We explore the topic of virality and what it takes to parlay a viral moment into an actual career. Plus – when do you know it's time to hang em up, stop creating and move on to the next thing in life?
This one’s short and sweet. I share a powerful moment I had at a recent speaking engagement with a group of incoming college freshmen who have a disability. My question to them was simple: What if? What if it had nothing to do with your intelligence or beauty or athleticism or parents or last name … and everything to do with your heart, courage, commitment and effort? Your circumstances are fact, but don’t let them run your life.
This one is for those of you who are super motivated and driven in life ... and have a partner who isn't on that level. Really wanna emphasize the ignorance I had with trying to make her meet some silly expectations I had in my head. If you're a hustler but your partner isn't and you might be building a silent resentment toward them, check this out.
I'm so grateful for people, man :) I posted a pic of me taking one of my patented 8-minute naps a week ago on social media and got a lot of kind reminders to take care of myself and make sure I sleep and eat well. I appreciate the concern, but there comes a time in a budding entrepreneur's life where it's a HUSTLE SEASON. Where there's a window of opportunity and you gotta go as quickly as you can through it to try to create the most of what you have. THIS IS MY TIME. Enjoy the listen and Tweet me if you're in a hustle season as well – would love to hear what you're up to @JuanVLopez
Talkin' Drake's new smash single, LeBron and Ronaldo joining new teams and what to do when you have a REALLY big decision to make...
I'm suuuuuuper geeked this week guys – my lil sis got her license on her first try! I was truly thankful to teach her how to drive and share a few lessons with her along the way. Same lessons I'm bringing to yall for this week's podcast. Happy 4th of July!
A few themes that have been popping up in my life a lot lately is how people gradually slip into becoming a terrible version of themselves and how few people actually do what they say they're going to do. Life changes when you can get a handle on these two things...especially the latter. Shoot me a Tweet @JuanVLopez and me know what you think.
A funny thing happens when you're clear on your purpose and are moving at 1000% speed in that direction - people judge you and try to make their happiness your happiness. They criticize you for NOT doing the thing they think will bring you happiness. Their opinions of you are circulated around them thinking you're not leading a good life because they're not doing what they think should make you happy. Really listen to this. If your life is dominated by the opinions of others, really listen and apply.
Some people are only able to perform under perfect circumstances. The perfect timing, the perfect day, the perfect weather … But what do you do when it hits the fan? How do you react when nothing is going right? Are you motivated even when you’re behind in life? That’s the meat of this week’s podcast, PLUS an #AskJuanLo question about Facebook ads & ecomm. Enjoy ;)
When starting a new goal or taking on a new journey, a lot of people focus on the work that needs to be done to get there. Great place to start, but I immediately zone in on what do you need to give up to get there. What sacrifices have to be made to get to your new spot? A lot of people have goals but don't want to give up what they have in the short-term to create a better long-term. You can't have both old and new. Something's gotta go. You're gonna love this one...
You’re gonna make wrong decisions. You’re gonna suck. You’re gonna lose money. You’re gonna fail. You’re gonna analyze something fully and still make the wrong choice. A lot of you out there want to do something new in life but are being held back from starting out of fear of making mistakes. I get that you want to be cautious, but accept that you’re gonna screw up sometimes. Make a decision AND THEN make it right. Speed and urgency will correct a lot of your slip ups.
A lot of people out there are stuck, not because our work ethic sucks or because we suck ... but because we aren't getting the opportunities we deserve. It hurts me to see people in the same bad position year after year, simply because they aren't getting a shot to get to their next level. In this podcast, we dig deep into how to hack that and get a shot to jump ahead. A lot of personal happiness in life is dependent on what you do with the opportunities you have and your ability to create new ones.
Suuuuuuuper fire keynote I gave at the AAF Reno recently – you're gonna love it. We talked about the real challenges in the advertising space right now, the golden opportunity we have RIGHT NOW with the internet, excuses people make to not adapt, and a bunch of other good stuff. I really went in on these folks. Great group, grateful to connect with them. Enjoy and let me know what you think ;)
When I was younger, I used to act differently based around the people I was around. In my heart, I was giving, caring, loving and patient, but when I got around certain people, I would change up. I would change my behavior because of the circumstances. Not anymore. I'm me through and through. Giving, kind, empathetic, helpful. I'm a believer that if you are happy with who you are, continue to be you despite whatever circumstances arise. You'll reap the blessings ;)
I read an article recently on Jayson Tatum from the Boston Celtics which told about how he grew up poor, sometimes having to ask neighbors for food. Truly humbling and got me to thinking about what drives people to put their work into another gear. Poverty, hunger, homeslessness, abuse... And if you don't have those things in your life, are you able to fabricate something to drive you every day? Really think you'll enjoy this one. Holla at me when you're done listening! One of the kids I mentor recently text me that he bought his dream car ... he's 18. I love the kid, but I think he's cornering himself into being stuck into a certain lifestyle to fit his short-term needs. The truth is, a lot of us are stuck to a job you hate or life you don't love because you HAVE to make your high car payment, you HAVE to pay your high mortgage, you HAVE to have all the new Yeezys. What I've realized is that simplicity gives you choice. It gives you the ability to make quick turns in life and not be stuck in things you don't love. Tweet or IF me when you're done listening @JuanVLopez – enjoy ;)
Recently did an interview with a college student for his entrepreneurship class – he asked some great questions, so I wanted to share this here. Really think you'll get some valuable insights from our back & forth. Enjoy ;) 0:30: What sparked the ambition in you to become an entrepreneur? 3:15: What 3 pieces of advice would you give to college kids who want to be an entrepreneur? 7:30: If you had a chance to start your career differently, what would you do different 9:50: Top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur 11:50: How long do you stick with an idea before leaving it? 15:07: How many hours do you work a day? 15:30: How has being an entrepreneur affected your family life? 17:50: What motivates you? 20:30: How far are you willing to go to succeed? 22:00: What do you fear and how do you manage it? 24:00: Have you always planned to flip your home? 26:20: How do you define success?
The linear relationship between belief and 100% effort is becoming more and more evident to me as I evolve. I mentor a lot of people, a lot of people ask me for help and a pattern I've seen is that the people who do not truly believe in what they're doing don't go all in. They have the information, tools and resources to succeed, but they don't give it their full effort because they don't believe. What are you working on right now that you're not fully bought in on? Trust me, some of us would BLOW UP if we truly believed what we were working on.
I've never been on a vacation where the people who are on vacation are less happy than the people working there. I'm on a cruise with my girl and our friends for a wedding and people are reaching for complaints... My girl and I fell into it for a day, too :| Complaining on a cruise ... crazy, right? Check it out & much love from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!
"I just wanna be successful!" "I'm chasing success!" Success is a really big hype word right now in our society. A lotta dream-chasers out there. I asked my social media connections what they thought success was and got a ton of answers. We dive into why defining your success is a key to self-awareness and the importance of staying in your lane. When you're done listening to this, comment on my FB post asking "What is success to you" or shoot me a Tweet @JuanVLopez
On my last podcast, I briefly touched on losing a big client recently. And I said I was "so damn happy." I meant it. A few people asked me how I kept this mentality through challenges. That's what we dive into on this podcast – you're gonna love it, get ready for a kick in the ass. 5:45 - My faith as a foundation 9:40 - My confidence to do anything I set my mind to 14:30 - My relentless dog mentality 16:30 - “I’m Shaquem Griffin, bruh” 24:30 - Almost dying on my birthday while doing white water rafting
I get a bunch of social media DMs asking for advice or help – I respond to every single one. Every so often, someone asks for a face-to-face coffee chat with me and I make it happen whenever I can. This podcast is one of those meetings. A young man DM'd me to talk shop about a YouTube channel he wants to launch in mid-2018. He currently works 6 days a week and is saving up money to quit his job and go all in on video content marketing later this year. I really think a lot of you are going to find value in this because you're in a similar spot as him – great intent, good work ethic, working a job you don't like, wanting to start something that moves you. Tons of value bombs in this meeting – enjoy ;) • 0:00: Meeting my man and hearing about him working 6 days a week to save up to quit his job in mid-2018 • 6:30: In the beginning, you’re gonna suck at everything you do. Accelerate through the suck • 15:30: The importance of connecting with people who have already walked your path • 26:30: Living below your means so that when you try to make a big change in life, you’re able to sustain yourself financially • 28:30: One of my biggest clients recently ending our relationship • 32:00: How to get your partner to believe in your vision and dream • 42:00 Reverse engineering your success with a set path • 49:00: How Oprah ended up on The Color Purple movie plus the power of making a decision • 57:00: The science behind content marketing
Whether you are in a position of leadership at your job, at home, at school, among your group of friends – the key to unlocking bigger levels of wins is recognizing it's not about you. One of the big mistakes I made in my early professional and personal lives is trying to cater things to what I wanted. I grew frustrated because I tried to make everything fit my expectations, my time, my comfort and my perspective. That's one of the quickest ways to a short temper lol. My relationships (personally and in my profession) changed when I started to cater fully to the people I was working with. I made it totally about them instead of me. Really think you're gonna like this one ...
You ever gotten punched in the face before ... for someone bumping into YOU? Lol I tell the story of the San Diego Sucker Punch in this podcast – all based around the theme of emotional (mis)management. A lot of you are missing out on unparalleled focus and clarity because you don't know how to handle your emotions. Anger, sadness, doubt, insecurity, jealousy – they take you off your A-game. It's cool. We dive deep into my own angry existence for about 24+ years of my life and draw up some strategies to take control. Enjoy ;)
Isn't crazy how when you make a commitment to focus on a big goal, opportunities pop up out of nowhere that force you to choose between your commitment and the new possibilities? In this podcast, we go over the art of saying "NO" to extra opportunities ... so you can say "YES" to your big dream. 1:00 - Recap of my ‘crazy’ New Year’s Eve and why some people hate New Year’s 4:30 - The mystery behind setting a big goal in life and seeing a lot of opportunities that you HAVE TO SAY NO to 5:30 – What my former bosses told me when I quit my last job 13:06 – What are the non-negotiables in your life? 15:45 – Why it’s easy for me to say no 20:00 – What I'm going to do with the MASSIVE platform & TONS OF MONEY I'm going to have some day 22:15 – In the words of Usher, "Situations will arise"
We take a deeper dive into the mindset and perspective I have with my clients, the people I speak with and my loved ones. I think they're planning on never coming back. This approach makes me give everything when I have the opportunity to. Let me know what you think after you listen... • 3:00 – Why I go so hard when I speak • 8:00 – Your customer is never coming back • 16:00 – #AskJuanLo: If there are so many opportunities out there, what stops people from going out and doing the damn thing?
My girl and I were in the car and she asks me: "Babe, you see Jay-Z admitted to cheating on Beyoncé?!" I said, "Yeah." She said, "What do you think?" I said: "I'm not surprised." Why? Because human beings are fallable – ALL of us. We are prone to messing up. So, how do we protect ourselves FROM OURSELF? I think you'll really like this one... 9:19 – My relationship with God and how sin (doing what we know is bad) is in our human nature 15:15 – Surrounding myself with other people who will check me when I need to be checked 20:45 – My routine gives me no wiggle room 24:15 – 100% transparency with my partner 29:22 – Recap & how to save you from you
Yall ever noticed how when you address one BIG THING in your life, it seems like other things start changing too? When you release one pressure point in your life, other areas of your life start improving... Check it out – I go in-depth about one of my reconciliation seasons in my life that led me away from my old, angry self.
I'm hurt. And pissed. My back has been messed up since late September 2017 (it's now late November 2017) all because of a silly injury in the gym. The worse part? The weight I was lifting wasn't heavy. I just got careless. My ego was stronger than my focus – and I paid the price. 0:00 - Respect The Weight 18:15 - #AskJuanLo 19:30 - Q1) Time management tips for busy young people 24:37 - Q2) I have trouble sleeping. How can I wake up earlier? 30:52 - Q3) Helping a 19-year-old young lady be more financially responsible
Yall know I'm always running around everywhere for my family, my church, events, business, speaking engagements, consulting, the gym and everything in between [If you don't believe me, check out my Snapchat on any given day – JuanVLopez1]. I'm always asked, "Why?" Why do I put myself under pressure and deadlines to be in so many places and serve so many people. Here's why: Because I view our opportunities as a DUTY. Unless they are blatantly out of my lane or don't align with my values, I don't view them as a choice – I see them as a RESPONSIBILITY. As in, I have a responsibility to go after this opportunity and make it work so I can serve the most people possible. Crazy what happens when you change your perspective this way. Let me know what you thought after you listen - JVL

Do me a favor when you're done listening – share this with a woman in your life who needs to hear this. Your sister, your girlfriend, wife, mom, daughter – share this with a woman who needs to hear from a strong, bright, driven woman and make her mark on this world. I'm truly honored to call her a friend and bring this special interview we did to you.
You really wanna be what you say you are instead of acting like it on social media? It requires extreme self-discipline. The discipline to get up & put in the work every day. Discipline to get off the internet and stop watching dumb videos so you can focus. Discipline to take risks. Discipline to stop acting off your emotions. Discipline to say you’re gonna do something & DO IT. Discipline to remove distractions from your life. Discipline to resist temptations to be lazy, take the easy road, mislead your partner or not give it 100%. Discipline to stop scrolling forever on Snapchat while you’re on the toilet. Discipline to not hit the snooze button 8 times. Discipline to eat, train and rest when it’s time to fuel your body so you can be a more efficient machine. Discipline to work to create the life you desire instead of posting about it. Discipline yourself ... so no one else has to do it for you. Self-discipline is the true path to personal freedom.
How many times have you gotten your morning going later than you should've, then been late, then had to speed to get to where you were going, then got a speeding ticket on the way there? ... I know I'm not the only one lol. In this episode, I go in on the unforced – SELF-INFLICTED – errors in your life that are causing you stress, money, problems and mental peace.
